Fife, with all the grey hair I've got I haven't been carded in years! (When I was a kid in NJ we called it "getting proofed."
When I visit a liquor store for a bottle of bourbon now and they don't ask for an ID I don't know whether to laugh or cry!
Hello there,`
Billwiz......Welcome.....Come back often.
practicing "social distancing", going very few places. Found a daily Mass on EWTN at 8 AM. Not sure if it's something new or standard procedure. Been slowly but surely making progress on the bathroom redo.
Decided to do little today. Watched a movie after breakfast, had lunch, and a nap. Afterward we decided to go fo a drive just to get out. Stopped a a Dollar store to get cat feed for the barn cats. The TP shelves were bare, the bread aisle, frozen food and cleaning supplies were really thin. No hand sanitizer. Now homemade pitza while watching Naked and Afraid.
Buckeye and Fife.....good videos
Fife......Layout looks good. Glad the princess is helping you.
Best move on.
Prayers this pandemic is short

Hi guys, yep nuts here to.
Would like to thank my son and his family for bringing us some much needed supplies today. Glad to have bread. Now to find some TP.
Seems as my grandfather would say, is what none of these kids today get,,don't put all of your eggs in one basket. What CEO's with MBA's also don't get. All they have is profit over brains????? Why we don't make anything here anymore and, Why this is way worse than need be. Damn the virus is enough without the greed of Washington and stock holders.
Been hanging out in the shed cleaning things and trying to find things to do that don't cost. Wifey said we can eat off the floor out there.

I'm a Presbyterian pastor who is learning very fast how to do online worship! Not the easiest thing to do without a crew or up to date tech! Oh well, we do what we can. Fortunately I can still run the trains - that makes some fun times during this crisis.
Evenin folks! Welcome Bill!
Well Dallas County has mandated a 2 week shelter in place order. Only essential businesses can remain open. Daughter is out of work, she applied for unemployment this evening. A close friend dropped off some fresh baked bread!

Evening All,
Had an interesting day, nothing exciting but not boring. I miss not having Nascar on the weekend, but discovered there was a Nascar event on the TV schedule. Turns out it wasnt an actual race but instead a "Invitational Simulation Event". I didn't realize this exsisted but Denny Hamlin organized with Fox a simulation race with a number of the actual drivers sitting at home with a simulation car, and they had a simulated race! It was crazy but lots of laughs. Fox televised it as an regulat race, had a Invocation, Anthem, Fly Over was cancelled (Homeland Security would not approve the drone). So with 15 or 16 drivers sitting at home on a game simulator they had the race. 100 laps. The technology was excellant showing the iconic cars, track like photography, trackside announcers, etc.. The symbology and all was really fun. Will have to watch the rerun on Fox this week.
Also had a really good telecon with Roy, don't know that we solved many issues but enjoyed conversing about them.
Then it seemed like a nice enough day, thought a bike ride would be fun. Of course thebikes needed air, no more than got that done and it started raining! So that put off for a day or two, suppose to be getting quite a bit a rain the next few days. I think it would be advantageous is some of the data reporting would include how many or % of people that have survived having the Virus. It not like it a death sentence. And testing is a bit overrated, test clear this morning and get it later in the day, or the next. Distancing is no doubt a must to stop the spread.
Local governments trying to tighten things up a bit, with additional restrictions, closing beaches, hiking trails, etc.. Most items seems bountiful so far, as long as people dont panic. But no telling what will be the situation in a couple of weeks. I'm concerned about the crime rate. Can't legally but a gun anymore because the backlog of background checks is to high, and the state isn't currently processing any.
Take care all, and keep your distance.
Don
Good morning from the Valley.
I always liked the movie, "Ground Hog Day" but now that I'm living it.......
Banks...Thanks.
fife.... Does your daughter have her dad's art talent?
Don.... It never rains in Calfornia, so says the song. I'm not too worried about crime in this area where the locals argue over which rifle/shotgun should be displayed in the back window of their pickup truck.
Banks...Our stores for the most part are stocked full. Of course we are the center of the universe with a Budweiser and Miller brewery, a Kroger distribution center, a Family Dollar distribution center, an Amazon facility, and several Dairy Queens. We are located withing 600 miles of 2/3's of the population in the country. Planes, trains and trucks roll into central Ohio with anything and everything. NS has a big intermodel terminal and with the new Panama Canal, more and more frieght ships to Norfolk, VA then leaves on the train to Columbus.
Electrial question: We have a ceiling fan that does not have a switch on the fan to reverse the direction. Can a switch installed on the wall be installed that will reverse the direction of the blades? Or is it more complicated? I would assume the fan motor is AC not DC. I believe I'm looking for some magic that doesn't exist.
Have a safe week and stop kissing the Blarney Stone.

Good morning from Lockdown...the ankle chains are a bit cumbersome, but I am doing my best Paul Newman impression with them....
Buckeye - the ability to reverse direction in an AC motor is part of the winding. Not sure if the capability is not there you cannot add it. You would have to disassemble it either way to see if there is a DC motor. Frankly it would be cheaper/easier to buy a new fan. There may be the option of rubbing some bat guano into the cooling vents...
So bad enough having to stay home but this to???
Out the back door,
Out the front door.
"What we have here, is failure to s-e-p-a-r-a-t-e..." I love CHL.
The only work I did in the train room yesterday, was to replace couplers on 2 AF cars. Really gotta be carefull bending the bolster arms on 60+ year old train cars. One of them was a Koppers 912 tank car. Good looking piece. I wanted to see all 12 AF cars on a train, so I ran the 303 4-4-2. I think I'll leave that consist on there for the grandsons' visit.
Buckeye - She surpassed me, artistically, some time ago. I simply tell her what I generally want in an area, and cut her loose. It breaks up the "sameness", visually. It's a great mood lifter for me, when she spends a few hours in there.

Buckeye.....what Roy said. If it has no switch odds are it's a "shaded pole" type motor. The only way to reverse it is to remove the stator and flip it over. These are common in small fan motors. Much simpler to put up a new fan.
Banks and Roy.... Thanks for the great response. I had been looking at new fans, then said to myself, "I wonder if there is some electrical gadget that I don't know about that makes this thing reverse." It appears that a new fan is confirmed.
fife.... My grandsons are full of scenery suggestions. I'm currently planning on modeling Roseyville, NC. Here is what I was thinking:

Why model the nice part of town? model RRs usually model the "other side of the tracks" part of town.
Dennis - yes, I have been watching a lot of stuff on YT. It is more entertaining than when the networks played the 1983 NCAA tourney Sun afternoon. Talk about scrounging for content!
Based on DonBs call, I watched a bit of the eNASCAR race Sun afternoon, it was pretty entertaining!

Good Afternoon from a wet and soggy Central NJ - 41F and rainSaturday it was nice enough to get both muscle cars out for a bit,, Jenni brought the Charger to my house, I got the battery in the Road Star and go that running. Got a few items from my house over to Mom's for the time being. Brought the Pascal Candle(s) to the church, did some light shopping and made dinner for Mom and my Princess (Jenni made Lasagna). Watched Two Lane Blacktop until late.Sunday was COLD and we put the roof trim on the Charger. Moved the cars around and got the Charger back in the shelter. Cleaned up Mom's house a little. I'm gonna make a move on the First Responders SET at $300 delivered, Mario's Trains price beat everyone with 20% off and FREE Shipping, so I get the engine and all the cars/track/power supply for another $75 (Charles Ro has just the eninge at $220). I think I can sell off the track, I don't need MORE O-36 curves. I'll pull the trigger on Wednesday.Work has slowed a lot - I'm considering taking a personal day to do nothing. or work on trains. Just need a break...lol. And yes, I have shut off the news and getting tired of our illustrious Gov. Murphy yapping about "turning the screws", whatta putz.....
Fife - Always nice when the Princess helps I think our daughters keep us grounded, I know mine does.....and tells me so, lol!!
I did visit the Train attic BRIEFLY Sunday night - need a day up there....
Back at it, will check back later

Cold and rainy. Been out in the County at trailer parks feeding folks. Went into two that County employees [Spainish speaking] did not no existed. Ghettos. Left meals for all of the families that would come to the door. Warming up and drying out.
Buckeye, saw some out in the county almost that bad.

Buckeye - Love it.
Flintlock - Didn't want to hi-jack Renee's thread too much. Good ideas. The museum isn't set up that way, but there are a number of nearby vacant store fronts that would fit the bill. Rail enthusiasts want to spend money.
anjdevil - Nice grab on the set.
Growing up how often did you hear "I told you so" ?
CBS News report:
"Forida Spring breakers test positive for coronavirus".
I'll let you pick a Forest Gump quote of your choice.

Depending on the neighborhood it would have been "Serves you right!"
Stupid is as stupid does.
Or,,,, if it ain't me WHO cares...
Mornin' boys. Clearing and 40 along the Potomac Highlands. We visited the grocery store, prepping for the grandsons and Oldest Princess's visit. Wasn't crazy, except for the bare shelves in the paper aisle.
On a serious note, stay clear of elevators, folks. Think of them as vertical petrie dishes, when it comes to the Woo-han. That's why NYC is getting hammered with cases.
My neighbor is having his property cleared of some fallen trees. Sent his guy over to give me an estimate on the tall, dead tree nearest Fifedom. Price was right, and this young man dropped it perfectly away from our home. They will haul away gratis. Scratch one worrisome hazard.
Good morning,
Went to Farm and Fleet to find out I was there an hour too early. So went to Walmart and low and behold there were 4 packs of 12 rolls of TP left,,,SCORE!!!! I took one and the others were gone before I got out of the beer row. Also picked up some oil so I can change it in Sandra's car. Went back to Farm and fleet and scored some cat food for George the cat so he is good to go as well. One day at a time!
Fife, falling trees where you want them to drop is a skill for sure. I used to be darn good at it back in the day. Now I am just old and worrried.
Morning. 50 and foggy. Feeding trailer parks and cleaning under shelter.
Ok, after 11 days of rain we are finally getting some sun out and 83 predicted, I'll take it!
I was able to get some thicker socks on as the ankle braclets were chaffing...
Our city preannounced a shelter in place until the end of April, that apparently is getting a lot of blowback...so the announcement has yet to surface.
We got a loaf of bread!!!! Our last loaf was already toast from drying out, we used the toaster to brown it a bit!
Train collection inventory continues...omg...I am only about 1/4 through it...it has been fun reminiscing about the things I have purchased starting back in the '80's...and funny to see what some things that were incredibly expensive back then are a fraction of what they cost at the time. I am handling and checking each and every piece, fun!
Good morning all,
Still working. There is some talk about working from home, but no action yet. Have not done much lately. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Sun and 40s.
My wife went to Aldi's this morning. Not 100% everything, no TP, but canned goods and some dairy. The governor has locked us in, too much power for one person to have. I dont trust her so I filled the car with gas @ $1.59 per.
