Buckeye, you brought up an interesting point.
You know, everyone who's been to college since the late 60's knows that "stuff" goes on there, the "What happens at school stays at school!" kind of stuff, especially today's college grad parents who send their own kids off and "Put the blinders on" because they just don't want to know, remembering some of the crazy stuff they did.
The problem now is there's cameras all over the place, plus more and more social media sites, and once the pics go out there there's no getting them back. I really feel sorry for today's kids, the old anonymity isn't there anymore.
Not that I'm endorsing irresponsible behavior by any means, but it's natural for young people to kick up their heels, raise hell, and defy convention. I've done it, others have done it, and for the most part it's harmless fun with no long-term damage.
Hey, I was young once, I haven't forgotten what it's like.
It's just sad, you know what I mean?
Hello there,

I don't pay too much attention to the main-line media anymore, especially the 24-hour news networks, look at the reporters and commentators, nothing but a pack of mindless lemmings all going along with the groupthink.
One of the on-line news sites I like going to is NJ.com, coming from New Jersey as I do I like to keep track of what's going on up there, but lately it's "All coronavirus, ALL the time!" Jeez, give us a break will you? We know, we know!
"Paramus Daily Voice" is a lot more restrained, they report on other things besides COVID-19, they don't hammer you with it constantly.
Our local paper, the Richmond "Times-Dispatch," is still very well done, so I trust what they have to say. They keep editorializing on the editorial page where it belongs.
I used to like Fox News when Shepard Smith did the news hour starting at 7:00PM, but then they moved him to 3:00 PM, did me no good as I was working, and everything in the evening became opinion shows. Sorry, I can form my own opinions, I don't need anyone elses.
Dopey questions from the pressies don't surprise me anymore.

I agree, so it makes me wonder what your whole post is all about,,oxymoron maybe? ,

Checking in. Was 85 and the pine trees are exploding with yellow "smoke". Just what we need. Delivered 50 bags of 4 meals each to one trailer park in town. 98% Hispanic. Had a Panamanian lady helping me [one of our key Human Services employees]. Then 100 hot meals to a trailer park in the middle of no where. 99.9% Hispanic. Go to door with meals. Some would not open the door and could hear kids inside. "Vielka, help!" She would go to the door and speak Spanish and the door would open. Mom would take the food and say thank you in Spanish. Vielka said they were afraid the white guy might have "papers". Sad. Folks have to live in fear. Reward was seeing kids smile and Moms too. All very gracious and said thank you. Lots said, "God bless you." Some kids would not open the door when both parents were working. Been told not to open the door to strangers. Get neighbor to help us. Back Monday and Tuesday. Now R&R.

Oh, I was just responding to Bank's remarks about dopey press questions KRM.
Sometimes I just don't know when to shut up.
Flintlock, I am no better, just ask any of the guys here. Just these are new times and new problems that none of us have encountered or are sure how to deal with even at our old age.
Chief, makes me proud to see you out there for those who need it.
Things are nuts here in IL, total stay in place starting tomorrow night. The COVID-19 numbers are going off the charts now that there is testing. Already major hospitals in Chicago are out of test kits and can not test those who need it. Right after the Vice POTUS was telling the world there were millions of kits out there? Where? Less air time and more work from the WH could help us all. JMHO
See Firelock,
The son called and asked if we needed anything and he will bring it tomorrow. All I asked for was bread and TP, he said he can get it there. I told him we have plenty of water if he needs it. Stay safe!
Hello: Another warm sunny day here in Orlando. More restrictions, retail hours' cuts and emptying shelves.
The broadcast of the visiting "Millennials' psyche" is a bit troublesome. Here's hoping that they stay healthy and return home safely.
Being "homebound" during this virus event, we've been Spring Cleaning the layout. Where did all that dust come from?
Be safe and take care.
PS Did I mention "dust"?

Yesterday, the Oldest Princess surprised me with these videos that the grandson made this past Summer. I've made a lot of progress since then. Can't wait 'til he comes back.
Good Morning All,
Chief, Really impressed with your efforts on distribution of meals! That is so fantastic! Great job!
Buckeye, those videos are fantastic! That is without a doubt making memories that will last for generations! Tremendous!
MIL has been in the hospital for a little over 2 weeks, she was very weak and couldn't get out of bed. Wnded up taking her to ER, and they determined her magnesium and other levels were way down, and also had fluid on lungs/heart. So her stay was getting all levels up etc.. Last Thur determened that she could be xferd to "Skilled Nursing Facility", so she was moved yesterday pm. Of course the restrictions have gone in place and now no visitors are allowed at either the hospital or Nursing facility. May sound a little gruff, but this is good on many fronts;
- Kay's mom is in the best place she can be, trained people watching out for her 24/7. She is a good lady, but her mind isn't what it use to be, gets confused very easily with meds, eating and more.
- The isolation will help both Kay and her mom, into some level of seperation. Kay is over protective, and her Mom takes advantage of it. Also I think it will be beneficial as the medical staff will make an evaluation and recommendation regarding her living by herself, taking the decision OUT of Kay's hands. So we will see!
On a bright side, I had an appt with the Eye Clinic at the VA yesterday, I am being treated for "Mackeral Degeneration", requiring an eye injection every month. Well it has improved so much that no injection required this month, AND next visit scheduled 2 months out! Not to mention my vision has improved SO much in the past 3 weeks, like comparing analog TV to HD! So very excited about that!
Take care all and be careful!

Full sun but only in the low 40s, better than the gray and doom.
Cool videos Fife, He does a nice job!
Chife, I think that 870 . Magazine, holds both 2-3/4" or three 3" shells and size just changes the capacity. More or less depending on what Tactical model it is. So he may be alright with the 3" shells. Jim next door has one I saw and I like it.
The shelter in place starts later today and people are going nuts? I will let it happen then venture out later in the week and hope for the best. No sign of the boy yet. Bet he could not find any bread or TP.
Need tp ?
Just call the florist !

fife...I really like the mountain cliffs with the fault zones running through them.
Don... there is a guy with the Illinois RR Museum that goes through the whole process of running a steam engine on video. The sound is not that great, but the explanations and "the how" to are fairly good.
Chief...Good job! We have the same problem with internet in the country.

51 at the moment. It was 39 this am! Youz guz up nawth left the refrigerators open again...Wowzers. Front blew thru last night and it was breezy out!
Been working on an inventory of all my trains, etc. This is going to take a while! Using 2 spare bedrooms to move stuff into from the 2 large closets as I log it into an excel spreadsheet. Checking going rates on the Bay of E, Knocking 15% off that and then another reduction for what I will present to the local train buyers to see if they bite. Spreadsheet has manf PNs, description, roadname (if applicable), year manf (if known), 1st value, 2nd value, and notes columns. Sheets in the workbook for Lionel (locos, rolling stk, passenger, accessories, track/power/control, other Lionel (I.e. Boxed Sets), other (general - Weaver, Williams, Crown Model, Marx, etc), and MTH (not a lot so do not need separate sheets for locos, cars, etc.).

traindaddy1 ,
I think who you are taLking about would be Generation Z, the kids of generation X not "Millennials" but who cares? I get it, these kids are a lot like we were, but we did have sex and drugs and rock and roll. They don't get it either. Got to just let them grow up. At least I had respect for my folks and grand folks. Damn sad!
Buckeye,
During the 3 or so years I spent on the engine, the biggest challenge I had was stopping exactly where it was required. Due to the loading/unloading platform for the coaches, AND the security gates at the front of the train for the passenger crossing. We had a yellow box painted on the asphalt that was 14" long, and the steps up to the right side of the engine HAD to be within that block, when the engine stopped moving. Once the engine was stopped you could NOT inch it forward or back. When the engine was stopped there was 10" space in front of the cow catcher, before you hit the crossing gate. On one occassion I DID hit the gate, no real damage just bent the lock pin that went into the asphault. The worst thing I did, as a fireman, had a "blow-back" when the pilot flame in the firebox was blown out due to a gust of wind. We were sitting at the depot, adjacent to the "Town Square", the blow back threw so much soot, it covered the area 1-2" deep. Numerous guests were covered in soot. We re-lit and headed the engine out, 1-2 minutes later the engineer yelled, "My pants are on fire, My pants are on fire". A couple of embers landed on the cuffs of his overalls, burned a 4x6" hole. Fun Times!!!
Good evening all,
I worked on cleaning the Marx set my high school friend brought over. I oiled and greased the engine as well, put it on the track and it runs pretty good. Will reassemble all tomorrow and see how it all runs together. Plastic bodies cleaned up pretty well. Fairly impressive collection of rolling stock and I am sure it was not all part of the original set. Cold outside today. Wife went to Aldi's and we both went to Wally World for stuff and then had take out from Chilis. Watched some more Hill Street. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Mornin' boys. Parly sunny and 32 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Well, it would appear the area's first possible Woo-han case was brought to us, by non other than AMTRAK!!! Apparently, a subject with "flu-like" symptons, was taken off the Capitol Limited last night, outside Cumberland. That's just, great...
Meanwhile, I was sheltering in the train room. I finally got around to installing the Lionel prewar 106 bridge, that I bought several years ago. Had to modify it a bit, but it looks respectible over my C&O canal. Youngest Princess started the painting and scenicing of the creekbed, on the section I featured in SPF last month.
Here she is, carefully stretching out, delicately painting the area aroung the spindly trestle, in total concentration... And apparently she was totally oblivious to the man with a camera in the adjacent aisle.
"DADDY!"
Not sure when I checked in last.
With all the restrictions we can't go anywhere. Gas is cheap and no place to go. Still NO food on grocery shelves. It has gone from no TP to nothing at all around here. Today's weather is cloudy and 40. Some wet snow expected overnight but will melt with tomorrows 40.

Morning. 59 and sun came out after a shower of rain over night. Rain off and on through Wed. Hope it holds during kids feeding time.
Chief - Momma's good looks, indeed. But Daddy's rationale.
She should be flattered Fifedog, (maybe she is, secretly) but only a proud poppa sneaks shots like that!
Beautiful young woman, that's for sure!
Morning trainsters!
Hey! It's raining! Wettest start to a year on record...3 years ago, wettest year ever. Two years ago, second wettest year...after a 15 year drought...and the last 4 years the weather wonks said we would have an unusually dry winter...
Great pics Fife! Nice your daughter is willing to assist! Layout looking great!
As I inventory my stuff - makes me wish I had a layout again...but no room the way the house is set up now.
The family and friends are all well so far...hope we can keep it that way.
TP situation here got to the point the county announced last night everyone is restricted to 9 rolls (or one pack if greater) as of midnight last night Per person per trip. Haha...the county commish said in so many words it is the stupidest announcement he has ever had to concede to make.
Well, it had to happen. Social distancing on the train layout.
Flint - She'll be carded until she's 42...
