Mornin' boys.  Starting off '19 kinda bumpy, as Wifey got ill New Year's Eve (couldn't make the trip), and I am finally giving in to my cold I've been fighting.

Had to stop for a fallen tree on the final return trip, which has become rather common with over 60 inches of rain this year.  Most people had a great time, including the newlyweds, whom figured out who the "suspect" was from the Murder Mystery.  Next up, take down Christmas and get ready for Valentine's Day (week) trips.

Good evening all,

Last day before work again.  Wife had to go take care of Lucas as he was very sick.  I could not go because of work.  Will be quiet the next 2 days.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Happy New Year's Day

Did anyone see the Locomotive float catch fire at the Rose Bowl parade? Huh?

I didn't think it caught fire. I thought the smoke was either coming from the floats motor or was a prop meant to be exhaust from the locomotive stack. They didn't really show it long enough to see where the smoke was coming from. It did crap out and had to be pulled by a tow truck. It was a neat float of the transcontinental East meets West completion scene. Both floats locomotives were facing  each other with a big hammer and a golden spike in between.

Happy New Year's All!

Not much on the go today. Tidying up a bit. Watched some of the Winter Classic and some football. Still have a wet spot in the corner of the basement from the rain we've had. I guess I'll have to remove some of the paneling and investigate further.

Have a good one and prayers.

Rob

Happy New Year's Day

Currently watching the NHL Winter Classic being played at Notre Dame Stadium. When I was a kid we would play hockey on anything that was frozen be it a lake, farm pond, golf course water trap, flooded street or flooded tennis courts. I first skated on artificial ice when I was a freshman at West Lafayette, IN. Skating is like riding a bike, you don't forget how.

The winds roared most of the night with the power going off around midnight and then restored at 3 am. The emergancy generator is ready to go if necessary.

I was watching the Rose Parade, and rooting for the train float.
And then, to my absolute horror.....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Started the new year by sleeping in. Wife slept better for first time since Thursday night. Might be turning the corner on the cold.

Celebrated with a breakfast of waffles, bacon, coffee, and mimosas!

Watched the Rose parade and now watching the LSU/UCF game. More games on tap for the rest of the day.

Got the son completely out of his apt yesterday and cleaning completed by 1:30 pm. Celebrated with some beers. Then we stopped at the store and picked up some nice tenderloins to grill. Baked potatoes and asparagus rounded out the NYE menu. Son and I did all the prep and cooking. He grilled the steaks to perfection! Tender!

V8 - I feel for you my friend. That's just nuts...

Regards, Roy

Hope everyone has a happy healthy new year!

In addition to that, i hope my wife and i finally find a home to purchase and i can start setting up my layout again.  Living in an apt with no trains is getting very costly.  To help fill the void of having my train stuff in storage,  ive found myself in "purchasing mode"!  This tiny apartment is quickly being overrun with train mail orders and ebay boxes!!

I can relate, as the last place I had no room for a layout but buying of trains, didn't even slow down, in fact probably went into overdrive lol. ( if you can't be building a layout, that train money has to go somewhere. ) Whistling Big Smile
