Happy Thursday......

Busy at work, did 17 scans in 9.5 hours, and it's going to get busier, and that is a good thing.  Just wish it was closer to home.  Overtime is a great thing.

Kev - good on the LC/LC+, did comment on the other thread, really enjoy my 3 and soon to be 4 LC/LC+ engines and sets!!

MartyE! New avatar - looking good!!

Saturday's projects are:

1) To get the layout board from the FD, disassemble the Fastrack, cut to fit between the ping pong table and the Northern leg of the layout and install it.

2) Install the 1 (yes, 1) panel of insulation and secure it (I FINALLY got the correct length wire retainers) as all my studs are 24" give or take on center.

3) Set up the Fastrack and see what fits and what doesn't....really want to have O48 curves on the outer main.  O36 on the inner.  And maybe figure out if I have nought Atlas O instead of Fastrack (Using the Fastrack turnouts.....).

Back at it, had time to post, scanning a Pruis at the moment and they are slow as $h!t.....hate those cars.....lol

Later.....................

Oh, yeah, something about a now MAJOR snow storm Satruday night, I'll be at my installation dinner for the fire department with open bar, so, yeah, I'll be, otherwise involved.....lol

Brent our heating/cooling man told us the same thing and it makes sense however I've gotten too old to be laying on a basement floor replacing a furnace blower.

Mornin' Fellas

Talked with TheVPQ last night... looks like she'll be flying with the storm today. She should make it to Chicago, not so sure about the Chicago to BWI leg! Keeping fingers crossed. Have the MBR, Master Bath, and hallway walls patched and ready for paint. Hope to get that done tonight. If I can I hope to get started on the sunroom ceiling and walls. Plan is to have all this done by Sunday and hopefully get started painting the main basement ceiling. That will leave the trainroom for after it is emptied into a storage unit.

Our realtor told us back in October to turn our heatpump fan to ON instead of AUTO to help 'regulate' the temperature in the house and to help eliminate the stagnant air smell in the basement... all was well till I got the electric bill for Dec! Seems in the winter it pulls the 54 degree air from the basement up to the main levels... not sure that is a wise thing to do. Anyhow, I like being able to hear when the heatpump turns on and off... the blower fan is quite loud... lol. Really looking forward to moving into the new house...

Anj - Thumbs Up on the train table(s) and the job.

Kev - thanks for sharing the video and making me yearn for days to come. Wink

Chief - LOL @ Software... it sure is a joy!

Good Morning!  About to sit in on a conference call for work.

Yesterday was eventful: got my performance bonus for work, and with part of it got tickets for wife, daughter and I to see The Who in May, and ordered the BNSF Scout Freight set from Trainworld!

I put the rest in savings, partly to get it out of sight, but also to start saving for our next trip to Walt Disney World in a couple years!

Well the weather guessers are still trying to figure out our snow totals.  I'd be happy with less.

No train activity yesterday.

The LC+ engines seem to be some of Lionel's best lately.  The small Berks seem to be a really big hit.  Enjoy!

Stay safe all.

Good evening all,

Another long day at work.  This is getting old.  So is this weather.  Commute into work was bad as well.  Did walk outside today at noon.   Did nothing tonight at home.  Too tired.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep  on training,

Kevin nice review of the Lionchief+ engine.

Robmcc I have also come to the conclusion to finsh a project before starting another. But I have them broken into three catagories. 1 this house, 2 the other house ( when I can get over there. ) and 3 leave some train time and work on the temp layout for now.

I leave train time if it's just sitting here and looking at them on the shelf, or rearranging them.

Went to the other house today ( unscheduled ) as I had a package coming there that I forgot to update my address with. ( that got corrected real quick last night but still had to go to receive at old address)

Otherwise not much going on here today. Received a NYC PB-1 missing one screw to hold truck on. has everything else. Got it for a great price considering what I see them selling for on Ebay. Got this off of TRAINZ auction site. Ended up paying about 1/2 of what I have been seeing the PB-1 selling for, as this has the rail sounds in it. The engine only had horn and bell.

Talk to you all later

Evening all!  ( Bon soir Roy!)

Brrr.... It feels like winter!

Kev - Nice review. I commented on your other post. Thanks for the Tier 4 update. I too am waiting for nearly year old Lionel orders. My Autoracks won't be in until the end of March!

Marty/Rich - I guess I was on the naughty list too. I was locked out for a week or so last week. Still can't log on with my phone using the same password!!!

Brent - I'm taking stock of my household projects too. I actually did a room by room list of what needs to be completed and basically "triaged" by priority. My problem is I get these projects to 75-80% and then start something else! I'm going to buckle down and get them to 100%.

Have a good one and prayers,

Rob

Todays Train news was good!

I have been wanting to try the Lionel LionChief Plus since introduction. My main reason is the feature that they will pull a grade and keep a constant speed. Up till today all of my trains are conventional units run from one of two Lionel ZW transformers.
Out of the box it looks very nice and has good weight. Pleased.
On the track, Sounds work well and were to loud for me so the feature you can adjust the volume with the remote was one of the first things I did. It was an easy process to do and I have them where I like it. I do wish the horn was louder and the engine revving not so loud but it will do.
Remote operations, lights, horn, bell, crew talk and couplers worked as advertised.
On the track it has a nice easy start up and runs smooth with engine revving following the speed well.
Speed control runs it up well but for me it should have more levels. It seems to be too slow or too fast for my liking but not beyond living with.
Smoke output is great and gives life to the movement.
After three laps around the track on the flat it was time to check the speed up the grade?? Perfect. I am very happy.
Attached is a short video of the first run.

Good Afternoon from drizzly 34°F Southern Ohio, Gentlemen, thank you for all the input on the chipper. I am now leaning more to just burning it little at a time. Maybe get some of it burnt this coming Friday or Saturday. Kev - the link you sent is the one I was looking at. Yes, very pricey. The picture is impressive! Brent - the local rental place where I rented the stump grinder last year, has chippers for $115 for half a day. May God bless Jim

Brent - Sorry about your aunt and prayers for your family.  Good luck on the house in P-burg....

Fife - Good Job on the WMSR - so much for retirement...lol!!!

I have a train table!!, Well, technically 2 and the 3rd one will be up on Saturday, once I cut and fit it to the ping pong table.  Hope to be laying track in the next 2 weeks, I'll be away from home Monday to Wednesday night next week.

Gotta run, work has exploded and business is good, which makes me busier than I have been.  Celebrating 1 year at the new job, so future looks bright, for a change.

Some kinda storm coming here, rain, freezing rain and snow, in no particular order from Friday to Monday, which, as Marty commented, all the idiots will be out in force....ugh...

Mornin' Fellas

Fife - Thanks for the invite. I will check with TheVPQ, that actually may work since it is a Sunday and we should have our house on the market by then. Christina is playing U9 travel soccer again this Spring, so I will probably have to take her to her game and then come up after, but we have time for planning.

Sturg - I have found renting a chipper/shredder to be more economical. They take up a load of room in the garage or shed and for the frequency of use it didn't make sense. My Dad got one of those electric chainsaws on a pole, and if I had one of those I would lop the dead stuff off and burn in a pile... some don't have that option depending on where they live though. If you are set on buying one, visit a number of landscaping companies and ask for recommendations.

Busy getting small projects knocked out. Decided to work my way down through the house. Starting with MBR and Master Bath paint touch-up, then down to the Sunroom to fix some settling cracks, then to the basement... which is going to be the biggie. The trainroom especially because I need to get a storage unit to move stuff into. Hope to be ready to do that the weekend of Feb 9 as I have a truck rental scheduled... of course weather permitting.

Freezing drizzle on the way in to the plant.   Nothing big but it always amazes me how fast people drive when they are reporting issues on the radio.

The weather forecasters still uncertain of the "big winter storm" track.  Looking more form the concensus it will track further north so less snow more rain/freezing rain.

Been enjoying watching the pups sleep all day on the dog camera.  What a life they have.  Toss 'em a treat every now and then.

Good evening all,

A long grind it out day at work.  Weather was dicey on the way in and the way home.  Walked indoors at noon.  Did get to scrimmage with high school kids for a bit tonight.  Wife and I finished the Lionel puzzle I got for Christmas.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Another gray cold day. We get a quick warm up by Fri (maybe 70) and then the deep freeze hits Sat, 30/20.

York is iffy for me this April. Got a wedding to pay for.

Mornin' boys.  Cloudy and 21 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  We received 6" of snohizo this weekend.  The ladies built a snowman out back, and FifeMax has yet to "contribute" to it.

Spent all day at the RR business office yesterday.  Lots of projects in the works.

Banks - I want to attend the Blair County show.  YORK is not on my calendar this year.  The next time you come to Cumberland, should be available for a visit.

With the house projects I'm not sure I'll make York in April either... and October is definitely an out again.

Would love to 'tag' along to Blaire County... haven't been up there in a few years... just not sure I can swing it as we'll be knee deep in house construction by then.

Thinking about getting a chipper/shredder.  Our yard produces more limbs and branches than I can keep up burning.  Any of you guys have experience with chipper/shredders?

Jim

Our neighbor has this Jim,

https://www.drpower.com/power-equipment/chippers/chipper-shredders/prompt-for-11-5-cs3-new.axd

Any curves in the branches and they won't fit. and it goes through hammer knives fast and they are big $$$ to replace.

If you have a burn pile your,,,,Better off burning. JMHO

Good afternoon from sunny 25°F Southern Ohio,

The deer hide is in the garage scraped and salted.  We’ll keep the salt on until the hide dries.  At this point we’re waiting.

My OCDness came forward last night as I inventoried what and where stuff is stashed in the truck garage loft.  After getting the area floored with OSB and before it got too full I wanted to get a handle on what is/goes up there.

Thinking about getting a chipper/shredder.  Our yard produces more limbs and branches than I can keep up burning.  Any of you guys have experience with chipper/shredders?

Lunch break over,

May God bless

Jim

Morning all.

8nTruck I'm wondering if there drawings are off and there actually 2 90 degree cross over.

Not much going on here. Just another day, More boxes to go thru. ( were doing like one maybe two a day, no rush, these are the ones we need to decide how much goes to yardsale and how much gets stuck in some cabinet as just can't do without but no room to display lol. )

Hope to start building a frame for my small layout here in the house ( 56" x 9' . This is actually a temporary until I can close off the garage and make a doorway into it from the house. ( it was a add on at some point but they closed off the window from the house instead of making it a door. into the garage. ) So that's on the list down the road.

Hope all have a good day

Hello there,

The weather guessers are ate it again.....we "could" get 3 feet or more this weekend...........depending on which way 3 different weather systems interact.

RE cousins. I've got a bunch, back in the day I was really tight with one uncles 3 boys. The middle was my age. Now the youngest is dead and I rarely see the other 2 even though they are only a couple of miles away. One of them I go out of my way to avoid, we've had some issues. There are a couple of others that I keep in touch with.

Best get on with the day.

Prayers for those in need

Setting up new computer.  Need Brent's help.  Later

Take it out back behind the barn and shoot it? Whistling

Shoot me an email, or give me a call. Not sure how much help I will be... when I am setting them up if it doesn't work the way I expect I call Geek Squad. OS and software has changed so much since I 'built' PCs I feel like my experience is worthless today. Sad Actually our 'resident' Ford Probe fella would be best to call. Wink

We are stuck in a freeze here in MD. Not expected to get above freezing for the next 10 days. Didn't buy firewood this past Fall and beginnig to think that was a mistake. Sad Electric bill for December was second highest since we've lived here...

Morning all

Some weather patterns moving in this week.  Nothing that anyone can pin point.  Looking forward to getting a little inventory done this week.

Bought a dog camera and realized my dogs are lazy.  LOL!  Then I watched the doggy diary and realized after my workouts so am I.  Time to do something even for an hour or so.

Stay safe today.  I really wish there was a way to upload pictures directly here.
