Kev, From The North Bluff Above Marseilles IL.
Good Morning, (kinda late)
Thought would check in, everything is good here. Not much changes, state still burning down, still dealing with in-law issues. and very warm outside.
Got a pole chain saw last weekend, and going to town on neighbors trees, they are kinda over whelming our place. The saw really works great.
Roy, Sounds like your having a great time. Be careful with all the adult drinks.
Chief, Was good to talk with you last night, seems your feeling a lot better. Just dont over due it.
Banks, Sounds like you got all the flooding under control. Glad the washer and dryer came through ok.
Mike C, The internet can be a real frustration! So how long is it before you retire?
Jim, Making progress on the train room, sounds great with O and S scales. Post some progress pictures.
Kev, Now think on the chain saw blade concern a little more. IF you get them back right away, then that means you will be out there cutting stuff in the heat and high humidity! So maybe, they are doing you a favor!
Devil, With the way you have been feeling, you sure are busy! Congrats on the MoPar competition!
Brent, Good luck with the parents contractor. Glad you got your plumbing resolved!
Need to get going, so take care all and be safe
Don
Just passing through while I'm in pursuit of a scofflaw, the Chief.

KRM Good afternoon, Banks, what is a walk behind mower??? How much grass you got?
Done mowing (and some other stuff) a drink and a cool off before heading back out
This is from the web.
We mow+/- 2 acres minus the buildings. We have 3 Gravely tractors each with a 50" deck and a Gravely Proline 55"zero Turn (Son uses it to mow a graveyard. It replaced the walkbehind) and this TORO 36" . The pro's usually have a sulky behind it to stand on . I prefer to use this because it's better in tight spaces and I get some fat off walking behind it.

Banks,
Nice!
We have about the same 2.5 to 3 acres. I have a 48" Husqvarna YTH1848XP from 2002 I use around the house and to trim. That takes about an hour to 1.5 hours. Then I use a LandPride AT2672 72" 3 point hitch pull behing finish mower deck I pull with the 2006 John Deere 3203 for the open areas. about 45 min to an hour. No walking. Gave our old trim push mower to the SIL. Let him work.
Good Evening from a wet 70°F Southern Ohio,
I got up about 2 pm and it was nice out. Sleeping in the basement bedroom is great. It is dark quiet and no phones which makes for good sleeping.
I put up a clothes line in the smaller garage, finished the first layout of the O track and getting the inner S track started. Gabriel and I went through the track and did an initial sort working with the nicer track I have. We needed more track so we took the three rail off the test track board because it was nicer track. We’re going to experiment with a spur siding or two coming off one side of the inner “L” in S gauge. This would allow more track for accessories. Just toying with ideas. I need to take some pictures! I may have to cave in and buy the upgrade with Photobucket.
When I left for work at 5:30 pm it was pouring. The Scioto County Fair is in progress so it is typical for this week to be hot sunny then pour all in the same day.
Banks - That is a dandy mower! How is it on steep slopes?
Kev - I still use a walk behind on the front slope every other cutting.
Spank - any reason is a good reason to run trains.
Good night and may God bless
Jim
Roy - Yes, still with the Scenic RR. Actually, got to go into today for a little bit to do some EPA paperwork, as well as a Christmas proposal. Still performing my narrator/conductor duties 4 days a week. We had a rock slide during Saturday's trip, but our track manager was able to swoop in with a 410B Deere and save the day. Passangers were allowed to detrain and take pictures, and weren't peeved about the incident. Youngest Princess was working our snack car, and handled the passangers wonderfully (she made out, big league).
As soon as grandson walked into the house, he wanted to run trains. Wound up setting up a couple loops on the carpet so he could enjoy his army trains.
Update on the big steamer: Diversified crew has been working nearly all summer getting 1309 back together. Hydrostatic test went very smooth. Cab interior and all the gadgetry being installed. New ash pan built (I've been asked to design the ash pit). No work on it this week, as NRHS will be in town for convention, and no rooms in town. Test fire not too far in the works. Still waiting for driving wheels to return from Chattanooga. No launch date.
I want to thank everyone again for their kind comments about my work at CTT. It has been a great boost at a time when needed.
I am a bit surprised at the tone of the thread at OGR, which seems to have devolved into CTT bashing.
For the record, I’m not 70, though I’m closer than I ever thought I’d be.
Neither CTT or MR charge for reviews. The key point is that we have space to fill (I’m going to need to work on using that “we.”
The first step in getting a review is getting a physical product to us to examine and review.
Oh, there is no requirement for someone to buy an ad to get in product news or reviews. For example, MTH has not advertised in CTT for several years but they continue to support the magazine by shipping locomotives to review.
I do not know why Lionel does not send CTT products for review. I suspect it has more to do with our readers being more committed to their brand than anything else, and not needing to be present in the magazine. If I was in their shoes, I’d keep something rolling in because that just opens up magazine space for Atlas O, MTH, Menards, and Williams gear to be reviewed. Remember, space needs to be filled, but it isn’t unlimited.
So thanks again.
Bob Keller
Bob...I assume the CTT sales force makes an effort to obtain advertising from the likes of MTH and Lionel. On more than one occasion, I have seen an ad for a product in CTT and have then started a procurement process through a dealer. I currently have my eye on the Menards' police station and their train bridges. I did not know about the bridges until I saw the ad on the back of CTT this month.
Working on getting rid of stuff before the move to the new home. Packing train cars and finding a few that I had forgotten about. If it arrived in a box, I have the box and the wrapping inserts. I not, I am using brown wrapping paper.
Light rain today.
The special election is over for Ohio's 12th district, so I reconnected the land line. We were getting 4-5 robo calls per hour. Note that I said special election. We are going to do it again with the same candidates for the November election. Absolutely insane and costly to tax payer.
Watched an old movie on Amazon, The Final Countdown. Great video of carrier operations, but the story line is a little lame.
Bob bashing at OGR is quiet common but not near as bad as some other sites. In fact I don't even bother with them unless someone say's go look.
Cloudy and 80s today. We have had just enough rain lately to turn our lawn a little green.

Morning, Well no plans for today, just going to coast and see what comes my way. So now that the AC thing is over the weather has cooled way down to a nice 70 now with highs in the low 80s the next 10 days, Go figure.
SJ, I have not cut grass in almost a month and it is not growing.
The only thing I even look at on OGR forum is the "What did you do on your layout today" thread. The rest is noise.
Jim, I forgot about slopes. Ours are into ravines and too steep to bother with. Nothing so steep I can't drive over it in the grass areas here.
Morning. Hot and humid. Out to do some chores and sweat.
OGR is OGR. Most are unique. A word I use when I don't want to tell the truth about someone. Ignore them.
Bob, you have been a great help with the forum and your reviews are great.
All have a good one.

As far as I'm concerned, the people at the OGR forum are elitest snobs. I did post over there for the CTT, and I can confirm the bashing. AND the admin had the nerve to call me out on my avatar, which I've had for at least 4 years, and they removed it. I've since replaced it, but God only knows it they have removed it again. I can't be bothered with those people, the high and mighty (yes, this is a broad brush comment)
Less humid here and sunny. Softball tonight, 3 for 3 on Monday with 3 RBIs, looking to do more. Need to win a few, which would be nice.....
Once I'm over my "issues", I'll need to take stock of my inventory. And there is a LOT of inventory!!
Bob, it's good to see you posting, still not happy with the events that included you, if you get my drift.
Let me see what other work is pending......
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Morning all.
Bob we need to hear from you over at other forum
OGR the way I see it,is there mainly in the 6 figure income and have nothing better to do than buy and brag about the expensive trains they bought. I would also say most the stuff they sell there looking close to cost. Most also say like new very little use or no use etc, etc.
Of coarse there a few exceptions, as in every case. There are some there that will jump right in and give you some sound advice
But Bob if you noticed there some now are crying/bashing golden gate I think is for the price increase they had to do to get and make avaialble the ERR products. There never happy. What GG isn't saying thou, I could almost guarentee, there also still have to pay Lionel a royalty fee on the products it sell to the public.
Well no news for today
Keep on training all
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

Hello there,
stopped for a sandwich.
Phish. .....no, hills can be a challenge for a walk behind.
May check out OGR later.
Back to yard stuff before the rain, again.
Prayers for those in need
Afternoon all!
Storms on the doorstep! Windy! Front approaches...
Took a nice boat ride last night.
Fife - that's great things are going well at the RR! It will be something if they get that articulated running! Maybe that is why UP is refurbishing the Big Boy? Want to keep claim to largest operating steamer?
Hola !
Banks, Saw this story and immediately thought of you.
MONTPELIER, Vt. --
Vermont's capital city is trying a natural way to get rid of poison ivy — grazing goats.
On Wednesday, three goats munched on the plants along the small city's bike path behind the high school.
Goat owner Mary Beth Herbert, of Moretown, says the goats graze on the poison ivy, causing stress to the plants so that they retreat. She says it will take years of cyclical grazing to eradicate the poison ivy.
Got some good news and some that isn't as good as we had hoped for. First the good news, I have finally gotten approval from all the powers to be that I get my hernia repair surgery later this month. Had they not screwed around for almost a year on this it would have been a much simpler repair and a lot less invasive. Went in for my regularly scheduled CT, the bad news is that the RCC tumor has increased in size but if you consider this as being not so bad the increase was VERY SMALL. Will be visiting my oncologist in a couple of weeks and I'm sure we will be discussing possible changes/options to my treatment plans.
No earthshaking news on the train front. Finally located a part for a Hudson Jr after Lionel didn't carry it, they referr you to North Lima Trainworks but I got no response from them. Did a google for the part# and found them at Brasseurs. Good place to deal with. Got a couple of others to get repaired but not in any great rush.

Brasseurs near Saginaw, Michigan is my go to place for K-Line repairs and parts.
Boy-oh-boy, what a difference a day makes, a cold front must have come thru. It's only 102* today, best get ready to get out the winter clothes.
I used to be a real coffee-holic before the heart attack, but Monday afternoon on the way home after my ct we passed by a Starbucks. The drive-thru had eight cars lined up waiting to go thru and it was only 105*.
Buckeye, I've been using Brasseurs for years for repairs and parts. Has the senior Brasseur come home after joining Mike R in the parts/repair dept at Lionel ?
Evening All!
A little rainy here. Hopefully, it will knock the humidity a bit.
Thanks for clearing up a few things for us Bob! Nice to see you post. For the record, the OGR post is now at 156. Seems to be quite the conversation. There is naturally going to be comparsion between the two magazines. I'm not sure it's necessarily been a CTT bash session, though. Most folks are saying the same things that have been said on this very forum. Well, until the thread got locked.....
DougDG/Buckeye - Yes, Brasseurs is great to deal with for parts. I'm close enough to drive and Dean and the gang have been very helpful.
Rich - Congrats on the car show. Mopar and Ford, huh? Hmmm........
Have a good one and prayers.

Good Evening from a humid 77°F Southern Ohio,
I’m on nights and we still do not have the crane rail issue fix but they hope to get the defective bolts removed replaced and code inspected by tomorrow night. Without a crane our work pretty well stops. You can only do so much cleaning.
When I got up Gabriel took me to the train room and after I left for work he finished laying the track on the layout and came up with an idea that really is neat. I’m excited that he is taking an interest in the building of the layout. He remembers well playing on the old layout 10 years ago when he was 4 before we had to take it down for his bedroom in our old house.
I went downtown after getting up around 1:30 pm and picked up some pieces of nice used 3 rail track to finish the outer loop at a little hardware store my friend runs that dabbles in old used toy train parts, some wall anchors for the glass shelves then picked up a solid old chair at one of the antique stores for $8 to paint for the basement bedroom. It will need to be de-glossed first so I’ll get some acetone on the way home in the morning.
I’ve never been over at the OGR site, but it does not sound as if the company would be a gracious as it is here at the Pot.
Doug - I was seriously thinking about getting goats to reclaim the grown over areas I ending up doing by hand. There is a large piece of land adjacent to mine that has kudzu going like crazy and if I’d get that property I’d go with goats to clean it up.
Banks - I guess I’ll stick with the little push mower and baseball cleats, or goats.
I’d better go check on the guys. Good night and may God bless
Morning folks!
70's this am with some rain in forecast.
Ate at a new to us restaurant last night with friends. Food was great. I had dry rub pork ribs and the Ms had Mahi Mahi.
Dougsnotta - sounds like good news overall - prayers!
Phish - good luck with the overhead repair! Nice with Gabriel working on the layout!
Morning. Not as hot and humid but still is. A chore and erands. A meal tonight for VISTAs leaving.
Babysitting as Wifey going to friend Gails in Athens GA.
Good morning,
73 now heading to the 90s with only 78% humidity, Yeah only78%!
Been so dry here that the dirt had pulled 3" to 4" away from the north side house foundation so I used a soaker hose to swell it back up. If we were to get a 3"+ rain in a blast it for sure would flood the basement wall with straight water and push hard to get inside. A trick I learned from my friends in North TX. But they don't have basements just foundation movement and cracking if to dry.
The soaker hose worked well and the dirt has swollen back up to the house. Even tested my sump pump install out so it all worked out good.
Speaking of old,,,8:40am and I just got up.
We gave up and I am running the sprinklers today on the yard around the house.
The BIL only 35 miles to the northeast has had plenty of rain. Just seems to be missing us.
Best move on.

Last time she did this her company drumbed up a few contracts and her work with the government quadrupled... if that happens again she is going to be busier than a 1 armed lumberjack in a timber fall! Hoping her boss recognized everything she does and compensates her accordingly.Fife - great news about 1309! Can't wait to see her done... btw - the build and move is on. Just have to find time to meet with a builder and giterdone.

Better watch out. It might be a ploy to get you to Rolesville.
biggest project today was preparing for Parish Festival. Using stakes and rope grandson, Mrs and I laid out the grass parking area. Tomorrow I'll wash the tractor and dig out some decent bales for on the wagon. Hope the weather guessers are wrong. Supposed to have showers.
Nite all.
Morning. Hot and humid. Being lazy after feeding the gang. Not much on agenda. Maybe Cabela's and/or Bass Pro for trail cameras.
Banks let the cat out of the bag. Can't pull a trick on anyone.
