Morning folks!

High 90's as usual!

Dennis, we know what you mean. Having a young dog is not in our future and we travel a bit - boarding has gotten very expensive. You might consider an older rescue dog that is calmer.

Got the busted sprinkler repaired - had a glitch with some concrete from the street curb base that I had to break out to complete the repair - so my time trial was blown - why the original installer smashed the piping into the curb is beyond me.

SJ - new PC! Nice! Mine is 10 yrs old...Win Vista! The old timers here will recall when I first got Vista! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh....it got stable after the third service pack and still works fine. Vista is so old the hackers are not old enough to know what it is!

Mornin' Fellas

A couple weeks ago Christina had her first sleep-away camp with the GSA. When we got home from dropping her off TheVPQ noticed the hardwood floor behind toilet in the powder room was black and warped (layers were separating). I took a look and found there was a very slow leak coming from the supply line connector at the toilet tank. Called my contractor buddy to come remove the floor, install a transition from the entry way into the powder room and replace a damaged board in the entry with one from the powder room. When he was done he said the underlayment felt paper had saved the subfloor, and it looked like the leak had been going on for many years. Well... aint that fun!

I got the new tile floor laid last weekend, replaced the wainscotting, and contractor came back and did the chairrail cap (he does excellent inside corners),  installed the new toilet and hooked up the pedestal sink... there was an issue with the drain, which I addressed yesterday - only to find the faucet is leaking from the inside where the hot water valve is (and no they don't make replacements any longer) so off to get a new faucet tonight and hopefully put an end to this upgrade. Bang Head

Banks - prayers for your daughter

Well it is official, The AC has a catastrophic system leak requiring replacement!!! Too big for sealant repair.    $2500 later and a week of hot days ahead. Bang Head Bang Head   Hope to get it Monday or Tuesday.  I figured so much as fast as it went bad. Now,,,where to get the money???  Huh?

New PC SJ, nice. I hate Windows 10 and all the hang ons. Doubt it will last near as long as your old one.

Roy,,,Vista,,yep, what is that???

Brent, sounds like your week is about as good as mine has been.

Dennis, I can't bring myself to replace our last dog. She made it to almost 15.

Our neighbor is not doing much better. He has a 2015 Dodge 3500 dulley that is under 60K and it has a bad death wobble that no one can find what is causing it. So he is looking for a replacement truck today. Dodge pretty much just blew him off but took his money everytime he brought it in for them to just say there is nothing wrong with it. Why they say, Get out of Dodge!!  Laugh

Good evening all,

Sometimes a day turns out to be better than expected.  Went to spend the day with Lucas.  We went to Dana, Indiana to see the Ernie Pyle Museum.  Expected to spend a half hour there at most, but wound up spending almost 2.  Very fascinating exhibit.  Wife even bought one of his books.  Not only that but there was a very large grain operation there with its own diesel moving grain cars all over the place.   We ended the day at an Italian restaurant in Clinton that was a bit pricey but had very good food and service.  Get to ref a U-10 match of that All-American sport early on Saturday and then to older daughter's place for a granddaughter birthday.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there,

interesting day. Rained most of the night and a deluge this AM. Daughter called telling us about water on the roads, creeks out of the banks etc.

I decided I'd best go home and check it out. (About 1/2 hour) Glad I did. In our house water came up the floor drain in the furnace room, was just to the door to the family room and went back down. I keep it plugged but had it out for some reason and never put it back.

Water in the big house  (Mom's ) was about 2 inches deeper than last time. About 4 inches into the washer and dryer . I'll let them sit a week or so before trying . They were OK  last time.

.Thankfully the drainage work son did a couple years ago is working. No mess in the barn.

Son had water flowing through his basement but no accumulation. The creek overflowed both side into the soybean fields. They are probably done for.

He all so had a tree fall and block one lane of the road in front of his house. We got it cut up and off the road with the tractor and the help of a passer-by with a bigger chain saw than son's.

Son offered to pay him. He wanted no money but offered to give  $100 for the logs. They were black walnut. We drug them to where he can get them with a logging truck and he said he'd give son half of what he gets.

Got back to campground about 130 and watched it rain the rest of the day.

Daughter had additional testing today but I didn't hear when her next appointment is.

Best get to sleep. Need to head home in time to clean up and go to the drags tomorrow  (If they're not rained out again)

Prayers for those in need

Morning all!

Sunny - of course - high 90's - low hoomidity so it has been a pleasant week.

Found 2 other sprinkler heads not spraying well, so replaced them as they were an old style that do not work well anyway. Under a big tree so had lots of shade!

Banks, sorry about the water issues but glad there was no damage! Prayers for your daughter! Good deal re the black walnut tree!

Brent - glad things are moving along, albeit with challenges. Did you ever get the porch on the Philly house fixed?

MikeC - Ernie Pyle museum, that sounds very cool!

Morning.  Slept late.  Wifey cooked breakfast.

Being lazy.

Where is Fifey?

On the OGR thingy.  When we started this thing, we tried there and got deleted and told no.  Fine.  So I drop by now and then to check Buy and Sale.  Crazy rules there.

Banks, sorry about the flooding.  Lots at my farms too per radar.  We soak in fast there.  No tobacco this year but bet the tobacco on other farms may have some drowning.  It can't taked standing water.

Have a good one.

Evening All!

It's been a few days.

I too had some water issues last week. I had some soggy carpet in the basement after a nasty storm. It's mostly my fault I didn't get the gutters cleaned out and it looked like Niagara Falls on the side of the house! Needless to say, I ended up having to rip out a section of carpet. Ugh..

I bought a scanner a week or so ago and it's been great to have for my "Trackside Adventures". Sorry, Drew! Big Smile It's kind of funny with the similarities between railfanning and fishing. The best catches are usually early in the morning or later in the evening, it takes some patience and you never know what you're going to get.

Have a good one and prayers.

Nice day at older daughter's place.  Their AC is on the fritz so it was warm, but still a nice gathering.  Got MR and Trains today and they look interesting.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hot and humid.  Tomatoes are doing.  Not flooding the house but plenty for us and a few to share.  Really tall and growing out the top of stacked baskets.  Have not been side dressing them with fertilizer like I use to do.  Squirrels ate the last three apples yesterday.  Lots of grapes [Concords about gone, others will ripen soon].  Plenty of HOT peppers.

Have a great week ahead.

Hot is the word!!!

Picked up a window AC from Walmart yesterday for the bed room till the AC can get fixed. At least we will be able to sleep. $124.12 later and some creative install work. No screws or holes were used. Place in and easy to remove.
Like back to the 60s and 70s!!!

That little AC thing did good and kept the bedroom at 70 and pulling the basement air up stairs at night brought the house down to 75 by the time I got up. So we will make it. Today they say is going to be hotter than yesterday and tonight it will stay around 80. The guy said he will show Tuesday with the new unit now but who knows?
Menards have their 11% sale on so I picked up the replacement dehumidifier for the basement today to replace the one that crapped out last month and that should make it feel better in the house to.

Thanks to God the shed has AC and I have a place to have a cool beer.

Good morning all,

Rare post from work as home internet went out on us yesterday.   Contacted service provider and they have no clue what is wrong, what areas are affected or any idea when it might be fixed.   Complete idiots!   Can't even bill certain aspects of their service properly either.  May start looking at options.   There are words I could use to describe my opinion but I doubt if they would be allowed here.   Hot here in Hoosierland.  Back to work today.  Triple ugh.   Less than 3 years to go and hating every second of it.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello There

back from camping. The race was canceled so spent Saturday trying to get the smell out of the basement. Still have the A/C sitting on the sink. At first it made an almost steady stream of water, slowing down now. Got brave and tried the washer and dryer too, both seem fine.

Yesterday was Mass, a visit with Mom, a trip to the grocery store, helped unload a load of hay into the barn, and finished the day watching the 2 littlest grandkids. In between times I bought October york badges online.

Best get on with the day.

Mornin' Fellas

New faucet did the trick!

Roy - No the porch project in Pittsburgh is still not even quoted. My parents are having some work done on their house and their contractor has said he should be able to do the work... so we'll see. Going to email him again today.

Banks - that sucks about the flooding! We've been lucky to escaped everything here so far, only lost power a couple times for a few minutes.

Fife - good luck at the Dr and have fun with GrandPup!

Happy Monday!!

Quick flyby, Saturday went to a Classic Car Drive-In show, where the feature film was Grease (last year was Christine!), The Princess and I attended and, where we didn't win, the movie and the concessions were great.  Our "neighbor" and his wife had a right hand drive Austin Healy and we talked about an hour prior to movie time.  Got home about 0130.

Sunday was a recover day, and there was a show 2 blocks from my house at the high school.  Dropped off the car after a quick detail and chilled at the house for a few.  Came back a spoke to a nice girl with a Shelby.  We have similar motorcycles and may join her little group for the fall and winter riding season.  Nice person, she won 1st in her Shelby and I took a 3rd in my "MoPar" class.  She rode past my house on the way out and waved and beeped.  Mom will like her, Mom has an 03 'Stang....lol!!

Hot and Humid is the word for the week.  Softball tonight.

Fife, The 9/11 ride will be coming through on Friday the 17th.  I can't ride this year, hope you can catch them as they roll on through.

That's all from South Jersey, work is slow......it will pick up later this afternoon.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Evening from a humid 71°F Southern Ohio,

Busy Weekend.  I got the basement spare bedroom all ready and I’ll use it to sleep during the day this month while I’m on night shift.

The train room painting is finished and I’ve got the base tables set with OSB on top.  I’ve changed my mind on the design and will not be using the All Aboard panels.  Instead I’m going to make two simple “L” shaped loops, one “S” and one three rail.  “S” on the inside and “O” on the outside.  I now have a lot of Marx now, and really wanted to have more accessories so for the footprint, a I went to a 12’ x 8’ “L” that I think I can make it work.  I’m just in the beginning stage of placing track.  I’ll keep the All Aboard panels handy for the train show.  It sets up quick easy and usually trouble free.

Besides the normal grass cutting Gabriel and I took down a few scrub trees, and my bride is busy canning tomatoes, and taking care of her mom who is have more frequent “mini” strokes.

Rich - Congrats on placing with the Mopar.

Banks - I hope you get your water issues taken care of.

Mike - Do you have a count down on your computer going?  Three years can fly by.  I’m looking at 4 more or maybe five depending.

Good Night and may God bless

Jim

Good morning all (again),

Yes, the internet is still down at home.  Spent some time with junior high kids.  Lots of rain overnight.   Jim, that would be too obvious with the countdown, but I may get it for home.....  Long day at work yesterday.  Hope the internet gets fixed soon....   I hope everyone has a good day.
