Good evening all,

Very quiet day at work. Very nice weather for walk.  Did part of the practice with junior high kids.  Mowed yard.  Wife home from her visit with sister.  Some of the short auto carriers that are in volume 2 should find their way home to the layout.  Can finally do a model of the Honda plant....  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hello there,

quick check in while grilling steak and corn on the cob.

Mrs started school today. Hoping to make it through the year but any time after August 29 she can tell them to stick their job. Healthcare will be  $$$$ but finance guy says we'll be OK. Met with him again Tuesday.

Yesterday we made 17 quarts of tomato soup. Spent today farming.

Buckeye. .....is the bankruptcy and move gonna interfere with your York trip?

Roy.......looking forward to some BS time at York. Seems kinda early to put the boat away for the winter.

Chief  a lot of kids today need more reinforcement in their lives.

Best get back to grilln.

Prayers for those in need

RT....I have learned to make RealTrax reliable and quiet. The rubber ballast is the key to making it quiet.  Sodering wire to the underside is better than MTH track connections. Do you remember when I posted the modification for the switches? I used a small piece of plastic to increase the width of the guard rail. Has been working for now 10 years.

Chief....Thank you sir! Big Smile You will need to visit again and see the new one. It will be similiar to the old one but much longer and I might be able to get it up to three levels. I hope now to change over to Legacy control, too. My CAB-1 units are on their last legs after 18 years of use. I will also install blocks to I can have the conventionals running with the TMCCs.

The CHIEF

Banks.... I'll be at YORK. I'm looking forward to it!  Teacher retirement and healthcare are usually the best.

Afternoon/Evening All.

Going to be busy for the next several days. Tomorrow will be at oncology dept learning immunotherapy +'s and -'s and what to look for as indicators of problems that will need to be addressed immediately should they arise. Monday is pre-op with surgeon who will be repairing this blankety blank hernia and the damage it has caused. Tuesday have an early check-in so they can install a port for my immunotherapy infusions starting on 9/4. Wednesday is SURGERY day. FINALLY !!!!!! Hopefully will only be in there overnight, initially was scheduled as an out-patient procedure but anistheseologist said no-way and had it transfered to the surgery center in the hospital. Gee, tried to tell them that from the start but it fell on deaf ears. Bang Head I mean all it takes is to give a serious look at my medical history.

Oh well, enuff grousing. The BetterHalf and some other hens will be heading out to play Bingo shortly so it's only me for dinner. Maybe I'll make a run to pick up some Fish-n-Chips. Dinner Guess where Shake-n-Bake.........

Later all.

Mrs is a classroom assistant in a special needs classroom. Her salary is low but the healthcare is top notch. Currently our maximum annual out of pocket is $500. Too maintain her current coverage our maximum out of pocket will be $19,000. Including priemium and deductibles. Seems like a lot but I've done some shopping and with our health issues I couldn't come close. If she finishes this school year I'll be 1 year from Medicare and 2 for her.

Doug good luck with the hernia and immunology

Good evening all,

The junior high kids got pounded tonight 10-1.  That happens.  Ran into a buzzsaw after playing 5 games in 9 days.  6 in 11 days was too much.  Weather is nice.  Work very very quiet.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Sun and 80s today. Maybe some rain tomorrow.

I say this every year but this time my feelings are much stronger about No York in April. It would have been nice to meet Buckeye though. After all these years I still don't think he knows I was born and raised a Buckeye.

TGIF - I'm exhausted!!!

Skipped fire drill last night went to a neighboring town for their weekly Cruise night.  One of my female friends, who actually works on her own cars (a '73 Charger SE 440) got her car fixed and a couple of guys came in to support her.  Met a few guys (one I knew from years ago...) all Mopar guys.  Was a good time, BS'ing about cars and Mopars in particular, Our little group was a 68 Charger 383,  70 Road Runner Hard Top, My convert, 69 Dart Swinger 340, 68 Cuda convert and a 2000 Viper.  With the assembled horsepower, we could've taken anything in the parking lot.....
So I have to go again next week, it's Convertible Night......oy......and then Friday I leave for Bethlehem.  The 'ol convert will be gettin a workout...

60 when I left the house this morning, up to 80 maybe and the sun is out.  Nice weather, low humidity, comes back with a vengeance on Monday.

Tomorrow is house cleaning top to bottom, and if I have time, I'll be getting the trains separated by rolling stock and clearing the area in the attic for construction while the weather is cool.  May have to get at the Hot Wheels as well.  I have found the stuff I'm keeping just need to find the stuff I'm getting rid of......lol.

Dougnotta.....This is excellent news!!  I'm glad the hernia is getting address!!!

Softball Game 3 of 3 tied 1-1, elimination game on Monday......Getting excited......hoping for another dinger.....lol!!

Back to work, check back later!!

Hello there,

spent a few hours today mowing hay. Hope to bale on Sunday. Son brought home a  new to him round baler on Thursday. It's getting hard to sell square bales. Not so long ago they were easy to sell. Horse people wanted them. Now a lot lot of people got rid of horses because they are so expensive to keep.

Tomorrow son is going to Mason Dixon dirt drags in Delta PA. On th MD border south of York.. Today I drug out my old Elsinore. They have a vintage class there son won when there 2 years ago. It hasn't run since then. Added gas and it fired on the 3rd kick. Took it for a rip up the hill and decided I'm going  to come out of retirement and ride it tomorrow.

Best get to sleep.

How it going?

Well it was nice and cool yesterday so I cut and split about 1.5 face cords of wood. Then wifey helped me stack it in the wood shed. That was about half of that pile I had ready to process.

BUT!!!!! someone turned the outdoor oven back on today!!!

Good evening all,

Came home Friday night, ate supper and went to sleep.  Got up in time to do 5K this AM and watched Premiere League this afternoon.  Went to Mass and will listen to Indy car race at Gateway.  Work was quiet Friday but had to go in and do some end of month stuff or else I would have stayed home.  Did work with junior high kids Friday before supper.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

It is official.  I am now one of the ranks of the retired.  The plan is to loaf and putz around for September to establish the new rythm of life, then get started on the 'after retirement to do list'.

The only train related items are plans to get back to working on the museum layouts and one of the guys at work gave me what appears to be a figure 8's worth of Marx track and a transformer.  The transformer has a set of 13v accessory terminals as well as the variable track terminals.

About all for now.

Tranz sent me an email.  Apologized for railure to fix engine.  We will work on getting back to them tomorrow.

Retirement.  Headed that way soon.  Actually cutting back on Mayor stuff.  Not attending all the stuff I use to.  Saying NO now.  December 2019 is it.

Have a good one.

8N, Congrats to you on retirement. It will be 10 years on 1-30-19 for me, would like more money but way better than a job! Those that want to keep working need their heads looked at. A part time thing is fine. After 40+ years doing it every day you need the time off.

Just got home from a day on the IL river. Son Russ's boat ran good but his friend's not so much, Thought we were going to have to tow him back to the launch. WTH? Darn it was hot. Even on the river it got unreal once we could not hide from the sun. Too hot for beer. Plenty left in me from yesterday. Going to watch some TV and cool off.

8n....Retirement is underated.

I'm still dismantling the Baltimore, Ohio and Wabash RR. Sad Just started on taking apart the benchwork. Of course most of the wiring goes in the trash but I kept some of the longer runs for the future.

Evening all!

Back from a weekend in Asheville NC. Beautiful place. Enjoyed great meals (lotsa unique restaurants downtown - no chains), Biltmore estate, and the Grove Park Inn for a sunset over the Blue Ridge Mtns with adult beverages in hand.

First SS check shows up in Nov, they are deducting it from the Chief's but he won't notice...

8n - welcome to the 'club'!

Hello there,
Started this yesterday and never got a chance to finish.
.got home from the Mason Dixon about 1230AM. Getting up fot 7AM Mass was rough. To top it off today wssmy turn to deposit church collection then late dinner followed by a visit with Mom.
Son has a couple acres of hay that he planned to bale today but the predicted mostly sunny has turned out to be mostly cloudy with an occasional drizzle. It's been a terrible summer and signs of an early fall continue.

My old Honda proved she still has it and I managed to not screw up.   In the 250 class I won my 1st run against a rider on a late model 250 Kawasaki who I suspect didn't expect the old Honda almost twice his age to run so good.  2nd run I lost by half a bike.  3rd run the ultimate class winner got me by a couple of bike lengths and I was out. I  won the 250 Air Cooled class which is mostly bikes prior to 1980. Not bad considering I haven't completed in a dirt drag in +/- 30 years.  After the both classes I had many compliments about the bike and how it runs. If it works below is a video of my final run.

The tomato soup is canned. A peck of tomatos, 2 sticks of butter, 4 large onions. Let me know if you want the complete recipe.

Gotta go
Prayers for those in need

Morning.

LHS is tempting me with these.  Adding the Super Bass and Powered B.  Already have the Scale PW Paint scheme.  I'm a sucker for these.  Other than that not much happening except work, work, more work, and oh ya work.  Have a great day!

Marty, They look pretty sweet but what really caught my eye was the L&N Geep just below those Santa Fe's. Unfortunately none of the importers offer very much in the L&N Line, the fondness for that line comes from my grandfather having been a conductor for them. I have his watch on display here at home.
