Buckeye, sorry for you loss.  Condolences to your family.

Happy Fathers day to all.  My two sons took me out to dinner.  One yesterday and the other one today so I got two dinners.  We went to the Old Spaghetti Factory today and had chicken Marsala with angel hair spaghetti.  Very good.  I am baby sitting my oldest son's cockateal bird for a week while they are on vacation.  Bird drives you crazy until you let him out of the cage.  Going to see my dermotologist Wednesday for foot problem.  Some kind of fungus I think.  Podiatrist gave me some meds but they are not working too good.  Also have something that feels like an ingrown toenail on big toe.

My brother in Virginia on hospice was able to get in a wheel chair today and come outside for a few minutes.  He has been bedridden for some time now.

Edison company is turning off all our power this coming Wednesday ---AGAIN.  This will be about the third time.  Last time power was off for about 12 hours.  They are replacing some poles near us.  That day temp. is predicted to be 95.  Great time to have no air conditioner.  I think I will just go somewhere and wait it out.

later, Ray

Good evening all,

My condolences Buckeye.  Watched several good matches today.  Mexico's win over Germany was most unexpected.   Took the mini van to get gas for it and it sounds like (Vroom) the exhaust system needs some work.  Still hot here.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Happy Father's Day,

Buckeye, so sorry to hear of your loss!  Prayers and condolences for you and your family!

We lost all the house communication Friday afternoon.  (Internet, Television, and phones.)  AND, we survived!  I discovered the problem late Friday and called, they scheduled a technician to come out TODAY!  He arrived and checked out the incoming signal, then went to check the "vault", found the issue there, it was a splitter.  Apparently someone did some work at the vault and when they closed the door pinched a cable, ours!  Back on line in less than an hour.  He did advise me that the backup battery needed replacing.  Let did he know I had replaced it with a 12vdc wall wort.  Battery costs were too expensive ($70) and last less than a year.  Batteries Plus has less expensive, but the wall wort has worked well for over a year.

Kinda a quite day around here, Chris and gf went to the wine country for the weekend.  Kay and I had breakfast, then she has gone over to her parents.  So I waited with the cable guy.  No complaints all good.

Got plans to go camping this week.  Since Chris has been at the mine, he still comes back here on Fridays.  Then leaves early Monday morning.  Ends up only being over there 4 nights.  So he has a hard time justifying an apartment, and would still have 2 hrs a day commuting from Vegas to the mine.  So he has been staying at various hotels in Vegas or Primm, taking advantage of the low room rates.   Then at least 1 week a month he takes his FJ and there is a campsite 2 miles from the mine.  So I will go out on Wed, then back here on Fri.  Will find something to do in Vegas while he is at work.

Sounds like Robb is doing a great job.  Hope Banks daughter has a good meeting with the Dr. on Wed.  Good to see that Dougdg is getting time at the museum.  Chief need to have a "sit down" with the neighbor spraying.  And, Roy has got his boat lift working, good job.  Bet its a welcome relief to have that complex layout done.

Take care all and stay healthy!

Don

    Hello there,

hope all are having a good Father's Day.

Went to 7am Mass, home for a quick breakfast then off to the flea market.

Never saw it so busy. Both vendors and customers. Mrs and I both got a few things.

Mrs and I made surf and turf for dinner. Grilled steak, shrimp sautéed in garlic and butter with stuffed mushrooms, cucumber salad and baked potatoes, 1st we've had white potatoes in weeks. Then had a nap.

Figure I got a slim chance of the kids recognizing Father's Day. Son is making hay daughter is?????

Yesterday son raked the hay before work. Later his cousin round baled and I caught the bales and stacked  to keep them from rolling down the hill. Saves a lot of time. You don't have to run to a safe location with the baler.   35 bales +/- 7 ton of hay. A lot of hay for the area we covered. Not the best quality because should have been cut a month ago.

Planning to sell 1st cutting and keep 2nd cutting for us. 2nd is better hay and its hard to get what it's worth.

Rob.....glad it's going well with the Mrs.

Kev......our welders were 8000 watts continuous. That's in round numbers 70 amps at 120 volts or 35 amps at 240. They had a couple of  small 120 and 240 outlets but  no way to get the full 70 amps. They did have a 50 amp 120/240 outlet to get full load. It was 50 amp because outlets are rated at 80% for continuous use.
Best move on. Son wants me to check the hay

Prayers for those in need.

Buckeye:

You are so blessed to have had your mom for so many years and, to be sure, she is still with you, not in person, but certainly watching over you.

All the best to you and your family.

Good morning boys & girls !

HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all you Dads out there.

Buckeye, Deepest condolences my friend, the sorrow will be replaced in time with heart warming and very fond memories of a life well lived. Angel

Rob, As long as she doesn't start calling you Nurse Ratched !

Chalk another one up for Lionel. I ordered some repair parts, one of which is called an "Odyssey 1 Fix-It Flywheel w/Set Screw". This is to replace the existing flywheel and Odyssey magnet after the original magnet breaks apart sending the loco into uncontrollable operation. Well the flywheel arrived but the set screw, which is required, was nowhere to be found. Bang Head  I found some 2mm set screws on line so I can make do with these if Lionel can't fix there un-screw-up, no pun intended of course.

Made it to the museum last Friday, but around 2PM started running out of gas then absolutely it the wall at 3PM. Fortunately the BetterHalf was already there so we left and she brought me home.

Time to get some grub and take my pills.

Later all !

As many of you already know, my Mom passed away yesterday at age 97. Broken Heart Years ago she gave me my first Lionel Train for Christmas.  It was from the Western Auto Store. It is still running perfectly. Rest in peace Mom. Angel (Incidently, her father and my grandfather gave me my first train, a Marx.  Still runs.)

Good morning from a steaming North Bluff! HOT is the word here WOW.   82 when I got up with a Dew point of 71, Brutal,,, heading to mid 90s. You can have it Roy. Most of the day will be a waste due to heat.

Running the sprinkler before it gets to hot to help my new seed in the yard in front of the house.

Checked out what everything I was watching at the auction sold for. Glad I did not bid.

A 2005 Ranger 2x4 went for $3,500 with 119K on it? Nuts. Don't even ask what the Kabota UTVs got, your better off getting a new one.

A Miller welder like the one I got but with no cables or other accessories sold for $950.00 with 2,018 hours on it. Mine has 103 hours and the accessories. Laugh Don't know what model you had Banks but 70 amps will do more than the fridge and stove. I do that, TV and the furnace heat with my 20 amp Coleman 5000 watt gen set. And that is not rated at 100% duty like the Miller is. My first house only had a 60 AMP service. Smile, Wink & Grin

My friend Mark did score a grapple and bush hog for the front of his 963 Bobcat.

Chief, Did you forget to tell that guy you had feed plots?? Huh?

Best get something done before it gets any hotter.

I'm awake.

A thunder shower passed through this morning, more expected later. 90 today, 95 tomorrow. Last club meet of the season today. Outdoors with burnt offerings from the grill. If it rains we have a 3 car garage to set up in, it would just be shorter loops.

Morning.  Heating up here.  Next week forecasted a scorcher.  Means watering flowers.

Spent yesterday at farms spraying shooting lanes.  Hope that is done for a year.  Two more to spray.  Easier as tank on four wheeler.  I just walk with hose and wand.

Farmer contracted spraying cotton with herbicide.  Yes, idiot sprayed food plots.  Farmer furnishing new soybeans and sunflower seeds.  I have to disk and replant.

Fifey, seems you have a new house to add to your list of doing things. Wink  That is good they got a good start.

Have a good weekend.

Evening all!

Pretty hot and muggy today. So what else is new?

Spent all day on restringing the boat lift cables. Think I have a handle on what caused them to fail and implemented changes (which is why it took all day). Need to just check/retorque all the cable clips tomorrow morning. And then on to prepping the boat to get it into the water this weekend.

Mike C - enjoy the games. We have a friend that went to Russia for the first games. Cup may come to Dallas for the NA tour announced for 2022?

Banks - prayers for your daughter's recovery Angel

Rob - great news the Ms is home!

Anj - have a fun weekend at the car shows!

Gnome - you are absolutely correct re toy train layouts!

Fife -congrats on the kids new house!

Good evening all,

Interesting day.  Good news.  Got bicycles back and they look nice.  Bad news.  Truck started acting up on way home.   I think the parking brake is stuck???  Not sure.  Good news.  Got yard mowed.  Watched 2 World Cup matches today.  Iran upset Morocco on a late own goal in stoppage time.  Spain and Portugal played to a wild 3-3 tie.  I think this was the first time I had a chance to watch Ronaldo in action.   WOW!  I see why people think he is one of the best in the world.  Potential to watch 4 matches tomorrow if Telemundo cooperates.  The one I am looking forward to is Iceland vs. Argentina.  Weather is hot.  Will be doing a 5k early in Indy tomorrow and may go to Mr. Muffins Trains.  Just depends.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there,

Early visit to gastro doc for annual every thing is fine. See you in a year .  We had a pretty good storm Wednesday evening, even a brief tornado watch

Kev.....good deal on the welder. We had a couple of them at work. In fact I have one in the shed for several years. It was  deemed not worth repairing. It ran when I put it there and would make power with a tap on the brush holder. So it needs brushes in the exciter and a new muffler. They have enough power to keep your lights on, the furnace, pump and a burner on the stove.

Grandson's team ended the season at 6 and 10. Play offs start next week. All the teams play a single elimination tournament. Last year his team was the champion. Not sure how this year will go. The teams are totally different. The coaches each draft their team each spring so all the good players get divided up.

The garden is still to wet, hoped to but the plants  in today.  Maybe tomorrow.

Rob......glad the Mrs is doing well. Are you wearing scrubs to do you nursing duties?????

Finally a couple days in a row without rain. Cutting hay started. I spent a couple of hours yesterday and today crimping and tedding hay. Since we're in a hurry with little help son is going to round bale the 1st cutting.

Daughter isn't saying much but she's not herself. Hopefully that will improve after the doc appointment Wednesday.

Mrs found on Facebook  today  that a friend of ours being treated for lung cancer has been declared cancer free.

SIL called a bit ago. Grandson has decided to go racing tomorrow. I'm hoping he doesn't feel pushed into it. I'll try to get him alone tomorrow and find out.

Best try to sleep.

Prayers for those in need.

My Mogul arrrived.  It is much heavier than my little Porter, so i had to take my suspended track back down to the flat.

A Toy layout is perfectly flexible.  No structures are permanent.  Anything can be moved.  Its great for me, because i like to make changes.  Besides, my digits are all thumbs so i could not be a craftsman even if i wanted to.

Morning all!

Just on my coffee break here at the convalescent center (aka home!). The Mrs.'s surgery went well. She was released yesterday. Pretty quick turn around. They don't want you there any longer than the bare minimum of time these days. Thanks for all of the prayers and best wishes.

Fife - So you AREN'T supposed to wash everything together? Oh boy..... Big Smile

Don - I think you did a good recap. I'm actually starting to use a note pad if I miss a few days!!

Gnome - I'm so sick of how we have become an "offended" society. Lord forbid someone has a different opinion! Glad the eye scare wasn't cancer.

Banks - Good update on your daughter.

Kev - Nice deal on the welder. I keep toying with the idea of getting one.

DougDG - Good news.

Rich - Have fun at the car show!

I guess that's it for now. I'm sure the "call bell" will be ringing shortly......

Have a good one and prayers.

Happy Friday, gents!!

Got my new front tires last night and put the bigs and littles on, and in the garage, they look pretty good.  A little rake to the car.  Tonight will clean the wheels and tires and treat them and the top, need to rinse off and chamois then spray wax.  So excited for tthe Hot Wheels show......Teterboro by 0630 tomorrow morning.  Thankfully, a light interior detail will be needed, since I had already cleaned that.  The roadrunner will be ready to impress those guys.....

Prayers and intentions for those sick and in need.

Hope to check back later.

Upper 80s today and tomorrow, breezy and sunny right now and through to Sunday in the 90s.

Happy Father's Day to youse Dads, if I'm not back.......

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 60 in the Potomac Highlands.

Middle Princess and future hubby settled on their pretty Colonial yesterday.  So after the train, I grabbed the power washer and cleaned off their rear deck and siding, while Wifey shampood the carpets inside.  At dusk, a small herd of deer stopped by to check out the new neighbors.

Caught Strange Inheritence: Million Dollar Train Set.  'Twas pretty good.

Good evening all,

Quiet day today.  Good weather for walk.  Staying home tomorrow to watch World Cup.  Went to see Solo tonight.  Was kind of disappointed.  Based on title name, thought it was a documentary on Hope Solo.  Boy was I ever surprised!!! (JK).  Actually a pretty good flick.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Evening,

Just had a post that was 95% completed, that all of a sudden disappeared!  Angry

So here's a summary, best I can remember.

- Recommended a series on "SCI" chanel, "Impossible Engineering" Extreme Railroads

- No big changes here, Kay working full time + with in-law issues.

- Getting fitted for hearing aids tomorrow, largely due to tinninitis

- Cal breaking up to 3 parts?  Ridiculous!!  Will NEVER get through congress.

- Commented on past 4 days of posts.  Great news from Doug, Banks, and hope Robs wife doing well after surgery.  Chief expanding property?  Should be cutting back.

- Looks like Buckeye is recovering well from his grits ingestion.   The only better than the iron transfusion, would be some Malt-O-Meal.

- Kev, you did good!  Congrats on the welder.

Sorry not more detail, lost at least a hour & half.  CHECK OUT THE EXTREME RAILROADS SERIES ITS REALLY GOOD.

Your getting it Buckeye!

Been at the auction site all morning doing some research for Mark on Bush cutters. I don't like the ones he liked but I don't care what he decides. I just delivered the info and gave some suggestion.. Started up the log splitter yesterday and it was smoking like hell so I checked and the oil smelled like gas. So I drained it out and bought a in line fuel shut off for it and will change the oil and see if that takes care of the issue. It did!
Made a deal today to buy a Miller Bobcat 225 welder Generator from a neighbor down the road for $1,000 It does stick, tig, mig and has a 70 amp generator with a roll cart. There is 103 hours on it and it looks bran new. Could not pass it up. now to figure out where to get the money?
It is stand alone gas not PTO. I think it has a Onan in it. It has the stick cables and I know he did some tig for me but I did not see that stuff next to it. I want it for the elect start back up gen set but I am sure Norm will give me what ever he has with it.. It is rated at I want to say 8,000 watts, has auto idle and from what I see are going for close to 4K new. At the auction they pull $1,800 with 1,000 hours and no cart or attachments all day.
Otherwise a nice day outside to do things.
