His Honor is a very busy man, with a lot on his plate...

Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 69 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  No train today, so will rest up before the grandsons get here.  Had a groundhog on our patio this morning, inspecting things I guess.

Union Pacific's OCS, led by their new 1943 "Spirit of the U.P." was eastbound on Horshoe Curve yesterday afternoon.  This will get the merger talkers frothed up.  Banks, what's going on in your backyard....?

Fife - I did see that!!  It appears they recoconfigured the UP signals to the PRR/NS standard to make the trip to Croxton Intermodal then to West Point, so I hear....

Wow PAGE 1!!

TGIF - Busy yesterday because of end of month.  Got home last made dinner and collapsed.  Should be slower today.

May make the trip to Warwick, NY for the show, need to put the big n little tires on and wash the car, even though it'll rain, it should look better than it does now.  I need to prep and clean the top as well.  Looking forward to the drive in movie afterwards, but not to the trip back home.

Back later if possible!!

75 heading to 83, way better than Yesterday.

This about covers the trip to the RT 66 drag strip yesterday with the 4 year old. We had a great time.  Boy was it hot, way over 90 and when the sun was out it was a torcher.

They did run Super Gas, Super stock, stock, super street, comp and pro comp  so there was plenty of action and little to no people to put up with, Cost me just $19.00 at the track and $7.60 at Macdonell's. Wink

What cost $19.00 yesterday would be close to or over $100 the next three days when the big dogs run. It was fun and cheap and no crowd. Perfect for a first timer.

SJ I was fast asleep at 12:00AM The sun, heat and walking killed me yesterday. The little guy did not want to leave. Laugh

Dennis I agree, I don't like that BS of pulling a hole shot then slowing down to speed back up. Not racing to me but there were a lot of cars running those classes. Electronic racing is not for me.

I like these guys! It is hard to get the wheelie pictures. You got to watch the tree to know when to take the shot but I managed to get some.

Nice pics, Kev, glad you and the little one made that trip.  Route 66 looks like a nice dragstrip!

Drag racing was a way of life for me in the '70s through the 90s and bracket racing was the only way to go.  Yep, I miss the heads up racing.

Loved the jet and rocket cars.  Funny Cars and Fuelers are very exciting....lol!

Englishtown no longer has the drags, which sucks, that was my home track.

Chief? Chief? Chief? Chief? Chief? Chief?

Kev - great pics - turnin the GS into a racer!

Whew - bushed - we went to the big monthly flea market in Canton TX today. 90's, hot, but with a breeze. Place had lotsa vendors and not many attendees/customers. So cruising the grounds was a breeze. Had some great pulled pork BBQ with slaw on a bun - said it was Memphis style!

All I bought was an old set of Craftsman ignition wrenches in great shape - great for working on trains! I have 3 sets of these now so I can keep a set in several convenient places.

'Cold' front tomorrow - well, it'll still be 90's but 'dryer'

Good afternoon from sunny 77°F Southern Ohio,

Hard tp believe it is June already!  The weather forcasters were predicting rain and it has been overcast most of the morning but no rain.  I did get a lot of grass mowed, and a pile of brush burned.  I stopped but the hardware store to look at the train my friend was talking about.  It was a 1936 set and really rough.  No engine.  The price was out of line so I passed on it.

Tomorrow we are going to a reclaimed strip mine that has been turned into a wildlife preserve called "The Wilds".  I'll report back Saturday.

Kev – What did the boy think of the drags?

Roy – I like the flea markets for old craftsman tools too.  The older ones are so much better built.

Going to run up to Rural King for some jeans, $8.99 a pair and they carry my size!  34 x 36.  Often hard to find.

May God Bless

Jim

As you can see, Don can't make coffee.  He can't even burn toast.

Had an busy two days.  Late last night and out early this AM.  Had the new pot on calendar in phone.  Sorry but didn't have time.  Phone will not work with this software.  All other forums, yes.  Gone early tomorrow.

Some of you may have noticed, I revised the title of this thread.  I didn't want to create a negative image for the Coffee Pot.  AND this is election time, and I'm certain the Chief needs all the positive banter he can generate.  So for the greater good, thought I should change the title.

Had a good day today.  Had to be in LA at the Federal Building to get some VA information for my FIL.  Needed to be there by 8:00, left here at 6:45, and still 20 minutes late.  Then came back to the house and got an order shipped.  Then went to Santa Ana, and picked up a ATX power supply for train layout.  Since was in the area decided to check on some repair activity on my JLC Big Boy.  Took it to the train shop on 3/1, still not ready.  Actually nothing done, he doesn't have the parts from Lionel.  (forgot to place order, then gone on vacation, Lionel lost order, now he is on credit hold.)  So I brought it home with me, I can do better.  Then wanted to check on Air Shocks for the El Camino, got them installed, and found I had a slow leak in the right rear tire.  Checked it out at America's Tire, and they fixed it for FREE.  All in all a good day!!

Got to run, just got invited out for dinner.

....... Just got back from dinner.

Kev, Those a fantastic pictures of the drag strip.  Where is it located, obviously on or near old 66.  I use to attend Lions Drag Strip here, saw all the greats, The Snake (Don Prudomme), Don Garlits, Tommy Ivo, and so many more.  It was fantastic.

Buckeye, Suggest you get rid of your watch and get a calendar.  That's all you will need.

Roy, You need to be selling tools, not buying them.

Jim, Plans for any souvenior hunting at the mine?

Chief, Sounds like your feeling better.  Great NEWS.

Hope everyone has a great week-end.

Hello there,

got the bucket back to the hill.

Finally started to clean up the trees. It'll take a while doing it alone but I have lots of time.

Mrs is home every day now so I'll never know what day it is.

Roy. ......bummer on the eyes. You can get deals on tools at Flea markets.

I checked out the Christmas Wishbook site http://www.wishbookweb.com/the-catalogs/from another thread. Really interesting.

Watched another ball game tonight. A 5 to 2 loss Grandson played well. A walk, a couple of ground outs and a couple of good defensive plays. 1st time ever he pitched 1 inning with no runs scored, he also caught 1 inning. Another 1st.

Drag tomorrow, hillclimb Sunday Grandsson won't be racing.   After the game he called me and quietly told me he wants to find a different place to race. I think it's a combination of worsening track conditions and him witnessing the crash 4 weeks ago where the rider died 2 days later. I'm not going to push him. There are a couple tracks within 3 to 4 hours we may check out.

Gonna crash soon.

Prayers for those in need

Morning all!

Whew! It dropped fast yesterday! High 40's this morning.  The coffee (not instant, Don!! Big Smile ) feels especially good this morning. The fog was incredible from the temperature change. I thought I was in England! I don't care, I was still wearing shorts and flip flops yesterday.

Kev - great pics!! I used to enjoy going to drag races. So many good places are long gone with urban expansion. There was website that had a bunch of the dragway "ghost towns" . I'll see if I can find it.

Roy - Nice find at the flea market.

Don - Wow, that long to have your Big Boy fixed? Hopefully you have a few other options for repairs.

Gnome - mmmm...... Kentucky stuff....... Big Smile

Have a good one and prayers.

I couldn't agree more.  The Chief has more on his plate to eat at lunch time than I eat in a whole month. Laugh

It was a sad day yesterday. The family had to put my Mom in memory care unit.

On a happier note, my Grandson who loves to run Pop's trains will be 9 on Sunday.

Good evening all,

Mowed yard today.  Even used small mower to do some trim action.  Was incredibly tired afterward.  Mowed before eating breakfast and weighed in afterward.  Was 228.  Have not been that low in a long time.   Helps if you dehydrate and don't eat LOL.  Foyt team did what I thought they would at first Detroit race.  Will watch second round on Sunday.   Muggy weather today.  Shirt was totally soaked.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

The grand niece is still asleep.  Student papers are graded.  Sitting here musing the way old people do.

Thursday i bought a nice plastic toy house at a thrift store for a buck.  The little girl had fun with it until yesterday. Then she threw it in the floor and broke the roof.

The doors are too tall for O scale, but since it’s broken anyway, why not bash the thing into something useful for the layout?  Reduce the scale.  Maybe turn it into a church.

And if this works out, why not pick up more structures from thrift store toy departments and bash them?  Hmmm.

Good morning,

Yesterday’s Memorial Day, week later cookout at our house was great the kids had a blast and so did I.

We did it yesterday because some of the kids had to work last weekend. Dan and Rocko both work maintenance so those guys always get stuck working when the plant is down.

The parents had too much fun as well but no calls to 911. The Gator ran out of gas. Laugh

All of the battery-operated ride on stuff got a heck of a running as well as that 110cc dirt bike.  The weather was perfect.

So, it don't get much better than that.

Morning all!

Slow day yesterday due to the heat. Watched NASCAR and Indy races while reading some web stuff. Found a cool 1902 Brown and Sharp book on gear theory - well written and illustrated unlike anything new on the subject. Late afternoon I went out and repaired 4 sprinkler heads in one zone. Yard guy with the weed eater is hard on sprinkler heads. Had to dig up two and completely replace, replaced the spray nozzle on one, and dug a tiny snail shell out of the forth that was messing up the spray pattern.

Cool front came through last night, a good 10 degrees cooler and less humidity today. Needed a break!

Dennis - I inherited my iphone 5s from my son years ago. Charge it every night. Original battery. Your battery will likely last a lot longer than you think. When your battery is getting bad, I have had great luck using Batteries + Bulbs for battery replacement (with a 1 yr warranty). Do not wait until the phone dies regularly or acts up (freezes, etc.) after a hour or few with a bad battery. My son did this and it screwed up the phones operating system (OS). After several hours of research I finally discovered a reset/OS restore process on an Apple discussion forum and rescued it (Apple service said it was toast).

Kev - nice day!

Buckeye - prayers for your mother Angel, congrats on the GS's birthday!

Gnome - good fun with the buildings idea!

MikeC - congrats on the weight loss!

Regards, Roy

Evenin' boys.  Finally stopped raining in Fifedom.  Had nice visit with the oldest princess's clan.  It was great to be around the grandsons, and we spent a lot of time in the train room.  Presented oldest boy with a LIONEL Marine Corp missle launch car, which he went ga-ga over.  After they left to head back to Baltimore, started working on bringing BIL's Seaboard 602 back to life.

Afternoon All !

Coming back to life. Was at the museum Friday til about 3pm when the gas tank went bone dry. The BetterHalf was down there with me, my chaperone, so she brought me home. Crashed on the couch for a few hours, woke up just in time to grab a quick bite and take my evening pills before heading to bed. Other than taking quite a bit of time to unpack Friday's stuff on Saturday, I vegged the rest of the day.

Did anybody catch the story on "Roadside America" this morning on CBS ? Pretty good short.

Here is something for the other "flyboys" in here:

Time to finish cleaning up the dinner mess, I fixed Shrimp Creole. Chef

Hello there,

It's been raining pretty much all day. The ground was a lot on the wet side bbut son got his corn planted and bean ground worked yesterday.

Yesterday afternon went to a soccer game.  Grandaughters team got beaten soundly. Her team had no subs and the other almost enough for 2 complete teams. They were worn out by the heat & humidity.

Spent last evening at the drags making adjustment to try and improve friends times. Tried a couple things but we went the wrong way so changed the opposit way and I came home. He was out of one class when I left but good in the other. Never heard how he ended up. Tentatively going to a diferent track next Saturday.

Hillclimb today was a muddy mess. We called it after the 1st round because the rain kept getting heavier.

Off to bed soon

Prayers for those in need
