Morning All!

Enjoying a nice quiet morning with my coffee before I go and play hockey. Not too much on the go this weekend. We had Christmas 2.0 at the in laws yesterday. My FIL out of town for the las 7-8 weeks dealing with his ailing parents, so we had the full turkey spread again. I was okay with that! Going to my folks for supper tonight, so we managed to weasel out of cooking for the whole weekend!!

Going to watch the Daytona 500. Boogity boogity!!

Spank - Wow. I was complaining about the half inch we got last night. Can't wait for mid week temperatures.

Kev- I'll second RT's recommendation. I've been using Turbotax for 10+ years and it's very straight forward to use. I don't have my "millions" tied up in foreign investments, so I just use the standard version.  Nice pics from the auto show!

Roy - Suburbans are awesome! I wonder if the Secret Service ever has a used truck sale.... I'd love one of their models.

Chief - Any "diet" whiskey in with that ginger ale? Big Smile

Have a good one and prayers.

Rob

Morning all!

46 and supposed to hit 64 today? light rain and overcast. Need the rain so it is good.

Kev - Tahoes (and Suburbans) - prices through the roof since I bought mine in 2009 at the depth of the recession - Chevy was dumping them had so many on the lot. I just intend to rebuild mine as issues come up - cheaper in the long run.

Have a funeral to go to this afternoon. Father of my son's best friend from HS. He was much younger, a fast cancer and only a few weeks from the time it was dianosed. Sad.

Morning all.  Chilly and rainy.

Kev, you didn't have to send your cold Yankee temps here.  No snow like forecasted for north of us.

Great photos.  Good job.  He will not forget this.

Train Box until around 3.  Youngest SIL and hubby coming to go and eat mid afternoon meal.

Enjoy the weekend.

Kevin if your just a straight 1040A goto to turbotax.com and do the free version. It will keep asking you to upgrade but just stay on the free version and you can get it done in about 45 minutes. It's how I do mine and then I save a copy to a file. Been doing it this way for about 5 years now. You will be able to save a copy at the end.

Morning all. Not a lot going on here today. It's dreary and raining. About 64* out there, suppose to get up to 76*, we will see.

Hope all have a good weekend, talk to you all later

Good morning,

Wow I must of been tired, Never woke up last night.

My tax guy has been blowing me off so I may have to come up with a plan B today. The daughter said she could do them, maybe I will let her. She has been doing her and Dan's for years? We are just a straight 1040A file anyway.

15 heading to 37 later. The big warm up for next week has been shut down. They were calling for 70 on Tuesday but now that is 62. Tongue Tied Still not bad.

Hello there,

back from frying fish. Had a shower, a hot tub soak and a glass of wine. Now hoping to finish this before I crash. Head count was down, only  605, but we still put out a lot of food. It's all you can eat but when the line is long people won't wait to go through again. Short wait and some make a couple trips.

Best get to sleep.

Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work, but could get very very busy shortly based on potential activity.  Not sure what will be happening.  Much colder today on walk.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Aloha. Sunny but turning colder - 30 now - going to 7. Sigh. Though it does give me and the dog another good excuse to putter around the basement. TGIF!

Hello there,

off to help setup thenfry fish.

Florida still running through my mind. When I was in school it was common practice to have rifle or shotgun visible in the school parking lot. No shooting. What's changed? ???

Good morning all.  Just for KEV, Jim and Doug [plus any other Northerner].  77 degrees already.  Its February folks.  WOW.

Pruned grapevines yesterday in shirt sleeves.

FBI investigated the Twitter account of shooter.  "Hit brick wall."  Can't find a guy with Twitter account in his name.  Uber driver drives him with bullet proof vest on and an AR.  DUHHH  Then you blame guns.

Twon stuff rest of the day.  "Debriefing" on Town Manager applicants.  Three being interviewed by or consultant.

Have a good one.

Good NASCAR duel 150s tonight.

I will catch up with you all tomorrow night. Early out tomorrow to get to the Chicago Auto Show. I hate the city and all that traffic. Had my fill as a young tow truck driver in the early 70s. Glad the SIL is driving tomorrow.

Good evening all,

Slightly busier day today.  Weather stayed dry enough for a good warm walk today.  Raining to beat the band now.  Temps to drop.  Wife finally home from daughter's place.  Quiet night at home.  I hope everyone has a good day.

I guess they will have to have armed school police to put and end to this stuff but nothing works 100%.

Hello there,

So sad about the Florida school. Problem is lack of parenting and to many video games. Kids can't differentiate between games and reality. Mrs works in local Jr High. Things she tells me about are so sad and infuriating at the same time.

Roy.......checked out the CTI site. Very interesting. How big is this layout going to be?

Mrs & I enjoyed a quiet fish meal at home and Mass last evening.

Visit to Endo Doc this AM. We both need to try harder...................

Best move on.

Good morning,

Yesterday was mess with the Ranger day.

I decided that in order to work under the dash of the Ranger to tighten up the shifter linkage bolts I would remove the drivers seat so I can fit in there without being a Contortionist.

Well taking the seat out was a snap and it is fixed. Both bolts holding the lever that connects to the cable were loose. Now it shifts like it should and the whole thing took about 15 minutes. It got so loose that it was not going all the way into park and was a PITA plowing snow trying to go from forward to reverse with so much slop.

That whole thing at that school was sad. My wife worked security at Plainfield North HS before she retired. Due to budget reasons they did not replace her. What are they thinking??

Plainfield Schools 202 has over 27,000 kids in the system. four high schools, six middle schools and seventeen elementary schools. Also two special schools. That is a lot to deal with. Let alone control. The police wanted to have arms locked up at the schools just in case. The parents had a fit so they did not do it. That is just stupid. So then on top of that they cut security staff to save a dime. So what do ya do?

Roy Thanks for the answer. It would be cool to have a control set up like that to run all my switches and side tracks.

Morning.  60's and cloudy.  Guessers say clearing and 70's.

Got lunch with three guys at accessment center for Town Manager.  We will see if one of these will be the one.  If not, readvertise.

Wifey does not like Mega Kelly.  She really "blew a fuse" this AM when she started her gun control thingy.

3,000+ kids in one school is too many.  Rolesville has the largest HS in NC.  2,200+ kids.  Too many.  Problems happen with that many kids in one school.  Our schools security requires you to be buzzed in with a camera watching during regular school hours.  During kids morning entry with teachers [security at HS's] monitoring.  Same at dismissial.  How did this guy get in after shooting folks outside?  Sad situtaion.

Later.

Good evening all,

Very very quiet day at work.  Weather was misty for walk.  Traffic was terrible going home.   No soccer tonight.  Did get confirmation on head soccer coach for girls' team is leaving.  Not sure who the new one will be.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Kev,

We are just getting into the CTI system. What I am doing is the wiring of all the various control boards (60 on the main panel! Controls signals and switches with Tortoise motors). Then have to install the 50+ signals (single, dual, triple aspect - so 88 aspects in all!) on the layout. The layout has around 50 control rails to trigger the bi-directional track signaling. The CTI system has nothing to do with the train remote control and is all about signals and switch control/position. It will be similar to a real RR. The CTI system in this case will set signals based on train location and switch positions (Tortoise switch motors have 2 sets of Form C NO/NC contacts to use for switch position sensing and signal control). It may do more but I am not familiar at this time. It uses a dedicated PC for the 'brains'. Won't get to programming this thing for a week or two.

Edit - Realized I did not directly answer your question - yes it would work with conventional layouts.

Regards, Roy

Ray, lady from England originally spoke to garden club last night.  She came over in 50's.  Married American.  Lived all over the USA and Europe.  Lived the longest in Escondido.  Her hubby loved trains and went to Doug's museum to watch them run.  We discussed that last night after the meeting.

Crazy weather today.  Cloudy, sunny, cloudy, sunny and so on.  Made temps go up and down all day.

Wifey got big gift card for her favorite plant/shrub nursery.  She was so happy she cooked country ham, biscuits and grits with redeye gravy.  Then took me to Olive Garden for late lunch.  [she did use a gift card she had to pay]  I got the tip in cash.  Maybe I lost.  ????

Don, going to see Doug in Escondido sounds like a good idea.  I wonder how he is doing now?  He has been through a lot of medical problems.  Hope he is doing well.
