Fife,

I've been lusting after at least one picture of said Road Runner and asked for one for years but one never seems to show. Must be a rust bucket MOPAR like most of them. Done asking. What did they say back in the day??? Put up, or shut up!

At least Hudson John knew his was a project and not a show car. WTH, who cares anyway? We are old guys and I would be glad to have an old rusty car. Shame on me for the ones I let get away.

At least Rich still has what is left. If we ever get to see it. Laugh

Evenin' boys.  Sunny & eeeeiiiiiggghhhhty-twooooo along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Did my first hike of '18 along the C&O canal today.  Windows either down or open.

dbaker - That quarry looks good enough to model.  However, I would be tempted to put Fred Flintstone on a Brontasaurus somewhere, working.

Quick Check in here outside of Philly......

68F right now with bright sun.  Depending on the fuel situation, maybe time to drive the roadrunner to work to get it out of it's mid-winter slumber.  Top down and crusin'

Trying to make plans for the summer, have a 50th anniversary show in Carlisle for the 1968 roadrunner....room is ready and I put in for my credentials.  2019 the car will be 50 years old on the 19th of August....

Will try to get some bike time in tonight but we will see.....

Melting here,

What is with this site putting in these small fonts when you paste? Tired of having to re-set the font so you guys will have to squint to read this. Smile, Wink & Grin

Don That is neat about that mine how it was closed and now re-opened because of China taxing REEs. I bet there is something there I helped build for sure.

Foggy and 61 degrees out.  Not as busy today as yesterday.

Don, looks like our rock quarries.  Exception, our walls are rock.  Water pumped out until they hit an underground river.  That is what happened to the Rolesville quarry.  Couldn't pump water out fast enough.  Some equipment left and at the bottom.

Banks, good looking group of folks.

Have a good one.

Hello there,

Had a lazy weekend. Saturday ran some errands and plowed snow. We got about 5" of heavy wet stuff. Most of it was gone by the end of the day Sunday. Sunday afternoon was a get together for Mom's 97th Birthday.

Today I spent a few hours welding together a weight rack for BIL's tractor.

Good evening all,

Semi quiet day at work.  Was miserable walking outside today even though it was warm.  Just rainy and windy enough to make me cut the walk short.  Ugh.  Wife and I did another puzzle tonight.  Have got it down to a system now and can do 300 pieces in about 2 hours.  I still do taxes on paper.  Call me old school, but do not trust the bits and bytes when it comes to my refund.  Been in IT long enough to know what can go wrong......Funn thing is that federal only takes 3 pieces of paper while the state takes a bunch.   Go figure.   LED lights are really nice and really light up the place.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening,

Well we took the kids home around 3:00 and WOW the fog is bad out in the country side. Lots of thick cold snow with 56 degree air blowing over the top makes for a mess out in the open of the rural areas. In town you would not have a clue there was anything going on.

Boy those two kids together are a handful,,, apart they are easy. Sibling stuff I guess. Anyhow we lived through it. Going to do the rest of the leftover Moose shrimp and appetizers for dinner. We had burgers and fries for a late lunch so that will hit the spot.

Be good!

Evening all,

75 right now. Cloudy and damp - light rain on and off. Front tomorrow night will take us to low 40's for a high Wed.

Ray - luckily we get good oysters here from the Gulf.

Dennis - glad your retirement financials worked well. I think retirement for our children is going to be a huge challenge.

Don - that was a cool trip to the mine!

OK - this is crazy - a Russian curler is suspected of doping? What dummy uses steroids for curling???? Did it help him/her drink more beer after the match??

Don what is the name of the mine your son works at?

At Aurora IL. Cat we built wheel loaders used in LARGE mines. 988s  992s and 994s Cat's largest open pit mine wheel loader machines. They built the trucks in Decatur IL.

I worked on wheel loaders for more than 22 years, and ran the 988 test cell for more than 3 years. Would think they would have something in that mine I worked on.

Good Morning,

Everything great here!  Kay and I took a trip to Vegas to get a tour of the mine Chris works at.  Extremely interesting, the mine is actually in CA., about 60 miles SW of Vegas.  It is an open pit mine, and they mine "Rare Earth Minerals", only 2 in the world, here and in China.  This mine has the highest grade of ore.  The mine was originally opened in the 50's, and has had many ownership changes since.

Chris is still living in various hotels 4 days a week, and drives back here on the weekends.  While we were there we stayed at the Plaza Hotel, downtown Vegas, right at Freemont Street.  For those not familiar, Freemont is a non-traffic street that has various sidewalk vendors and entertainment stages, about 3/4 of a mile long.  The street is lined by Casinos & Hotels.  And has always been a fun place to go, and "family friendly" for years.  NOT the case anymore it is really "slutty"  many women of ALL ages performing wearing pasties and bikinni bottoms.  Then even men wearing thongs, or pouches only.  I WAS APPALLED!  Actually was embarrassed for unsuspecting families.

We also visited the "MOB Museum.  It is relativily new, and very well done!  Its located in the former Vegas court house, a 4 story building.  Really great! There was even a whole room with photos and memorbilia from Roseyville.  Included local political figures and historicaly significant events.  Interesting!

Got home Friday, and one of Kays friend has been asking if we would want a portable generator, (already have one), they want to get rid of.  It is free, and 5,550 watts.  Wish I knew someone that has a farm or something, would give it to them.

Chris made it back here Friday night, but spent Saturday, Sunday, and today working at the Academy Awards.  He is driving back tonight.

Well looks like the weather has broken somewhat, suppose to be windy and cool, high today 60, tonight low 40's.

We purchased the 4 ft LED lights about 6 months ago.  Been waiting for the florescent to go out.  Installed the LED lights this weekend, WOW talk about turning on the light, super bright.

Take Care All, and have a great day.

Don

Good morning,

37 heavy fog and rain all day, 60 tomorrow then back to 33 mid week.

Kids showed up at about the end of the race yesterday.

Grand daughter is sick and running a fever of 101 Grandson is still sleeping.  She was sick when she got here. Before bed she was 101.4 and is on meds but in the dumps. She was good at midnight but warm again this morning. She wants soup for breakfast. Huh?

Got a group of turkeys in the front yard. Yes

Grandson just got up, got to run.

Think I will have the daughter do the taxes and see how that works out.

Aloha. Warmer and rainy though we had a few inches of new snow on Sat. so it is still largely with us.

Fife, glad the daughter knew how to use the extinguisher!

Kev, if you want to stay free - you can do your taxes on the state's website - it is free though you need a PIN. I thought it worth the TurboTax fee to have them submit them for me this year because I didn't want to input everything again.

Just checking in on a Sunday night.  Quiet day today.  Went to the local sizzler this afternoon and treated myself to steak and lobster.  It was good but size was a big dissapointment.  It wasn't cheap.  I know you get what you pay for but I got short changed.  Try a different place next time.  They are selling Eastern oysters in the shell in the super markets here.  They look awfully small though.  I don't think I even own an oyster knife now.  They are selling for a buck each.  About like the price of avacados.  Even shucked Pacific oysters are a lot higher now than last year.  What isn't?  I like them in a stew.  When I called my brother in Virginia this week, they were having fried oysters.  I could almost taste them over the phone.  Oh well, back to California fare I guess.  Have a good week all,

Ray

Good evening all,

Goal accomplished.  13.1 miles in 3:36:44 for a 3.62 MPH average.  What is better is that I maintained that speed the entire distance.  I had a little slow down about halfway thru but a protein bar bumped the energy level up to where I could keep going.  Came home and crashed.  Did watch end of taxicab race.  Warmer today and supposed to be over 60 tomorrow with rain.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Evening from 45°F Southern Ohio,

It was a beautiful day.  Crazy weather.  Yesterday we had snow and the boys and I spent a couple of hours scraping off the hill.  I'm saying next year we'll have a scraper blade for the tractor.  IT has been crazy busy.  Last week I worked two night shifts, helped distribute ashes on Ash Wednesday, then Friday led stations of the cross and assisted with Mass at the High School.  Saturday had class in Columbus then drove home in the snow and preached at Saturday and Sunday Masses.  Today the boys and I moved the chicken coop.  It was in a low spot and had become a muddy mess.  The kids have some friends over, and two of them are staying over tonight, and my bride is frying chicken for supper.

Chief – March can bring some surprizes.  Some of our heavest snows have been in March.  The spring flowers are beginning to sprout and some of the trees are budding.

Roy – I got a few of the 4 foot LED shop lights from Rural King and they do a real good job.  I've put them over the work benches in the garages and in the basement.

Rob – Turbo Tax is what we've used for several years too.  I tried unsuccessfully to talk my bride into a Suburban instead of the last three minivans!

Banks – are you in the K of C?

May God bless

Jim

Thanks,

My guy uses H&R Block. In Turbo tax they want $39.95 for the IL State. With H&R it is $54.00 for download for Federal with free state. Do it on the PC and send it in the mail. Everything is saved for fastrack next year. Our daughter does it e-filing but I can wait to keep ity out of cyber space. Just me.

Guess I will have to decide after the kids leave tomorrow.

Roy, you got it on Da ChiefLaugh

Just down loaded Chrome and it found all of my lost bookmarks from Firefox and the last ten years even from PCs and laptops I no longer have? They must of been out in space because FireFox was un-installed from this PC when it crashed?????

Weird

Kev - I've had no issues with e-filing and direct deposit. Usually get a refund in 7-8 business days. Much faster than waiting 4+ weeks for a check. Even buying Turbotax every year is still cheaper than the basic H&R filing fee and we know no one ever pays just the basic fee!

Sun and 40 today.

Rain coming Monday thru wednesday.

I have a tax man, he's very reasonable and it's done in 30 minutes. Direct deposit was back in 1 week from the feds. The state is much slower not back yet but totally normal.

Sunny and 61 degrees.  Keeps rising.  This morning at dawn, tenp higher than high yesterday.  Record high forecasted for this week.  Watchout fruit trees, flowers and shrubs.  March can be a surprise.

May do more wiring in Train Box.

Morning all,

49 right now and may hit 60.

Was warm enough yesterday afternoon to work in the garage/shop. Installed a 4' LED light fixture. It is labeled as 60w and I wanted to see how well it worked. It lit the area fine so I am going to get a couple more. Have to modify an outlet on the ceiling for the light as that is where the garage door opener and radio control unit plugs in.

Kev - no help here, the ms. does our taxes on her pro S/W.

Well sometimes things happen in waves - found out yesterday evening one of my best friends of the last 40 yrs has a cancer at stage 4 - not good.

Kevin it depends on state for free or not. I don't know why some states can be done free and others not but mine was free.

I don't pay for anything. at the end you can save it to your computer and then if you want to put it on a CD thats up to you. There trying to charge for something you can do yourself. and on Direct deposite thats up to you but you still can print it out and mail it if you want. I did direct deposite as it was a big $24. Normally I break even.

Morning all. 59* now going to 64* a cool down of about 10* from yesterday's high.

No train news on this end. Will talk to you all later.

Still covered with white stuff and 22 degrees now. Hope it melts by this afternoon.

Got grandkids coming to spend the night and Washington's birthday with us tomorrow this afternoon.

On those taxes,,, Do any of you just get the download and back-up CD?

I see on all the so called Free ones you have to pay for the state so free is not free. It would not be much more to do the download and get the back up CD and then your not doing it in cyber space and your set for next year. I have no thought of direct deposit. I want it all done in the good old slower but safer USPS.

TKS for any advice.

Mornin'... Buckeye -DevilLaughLaughLaugh  Mostly cloudy and several inches of fresh snohizo on the ground.  Last night's train was full of nice couples, and the ladies said the snow added a "magical" quality.  Wasn't cold, just pretty.

Wifey spent afternoon cleaning kitchen at middle princess's apartment, after she had a stove fire yesterday morning.  Stove is electric, so it appeared to be a wiring issue.  Daughter put it out with fire extinguisher.  Unfortunately, landlord wasn't answering his phone yesterday....
