32 degrees and snowing till late evening. Then the temp will drop through all of next week. This is the one game I will watch, I don't care who wins.

Good morning,

No snow overnight like they were howling about the last few days. Maybe DougM got some by the lake but we got nothing out here in the sticks.

Fife, 4 trains running simultaneously.   Yes

I won’t be watching the game either. I have not watched any games yet why start now. I think I will re-wire that Williams by Bachman to series and see what I think. I remember I did that to two K-line Bangs a few years ago and it worked well.

Rob, I have three Williams by Bachman engines and they all fly with little power so I thought if I re-wire them it will solve my switch activation issue and also allow me to get a better crawl speed out of them as well. It would take a lot of wiring to fire the switches to fixed power as well seeing they are about 27’ apart on the layout.

Better start breakfast.  Dinner

Mornin' boys.  Calling for some potentially hazardous frozen precip in the Potomac Highlands.  Did my running around yesterday.  Even took an hour to visit an antique store on Baltimore St.  I like to sort through old postcards and vintage photo, and I was able to scoop up an old postcard of a B&O hopper at an area coal mine, and a nice image of a canal boat near the long gone Bolt & Forge.

Won't be watching the "big" game.  Gonna spend that time in the train room.  Maybe get the high line finished, so I can have 4 trains running simultaneously.

Morning all!

It looks like we had a light dusting of snow over night. Hopefully that's it for today. Still trying to figure out my Super Bowl plans, not that I really even care this year. I just don't want to be anywhere my wife, daughter and their Patriots nation!!

Spank - Ironically, I happen to be an end user of the program. Considering they have been advertising a start date of February 1st for 3-4 months, you would think someone would have given you guys a heads up. Ugh.... Don't think we are all idiots up here, though!! Big Smile I imagine the network traffic will level off after people activate their new cards over the next few days.

I have a 1983 Z28. I was my first car. I updated the body parts to make it look like a late 80's IROC. It was stolen years ago, recovered and I'm presently in the process of swapping out the carbed 350 with a rebuilt LT1 with the LT4 "hot" cam and other goodies.

Banks - I'm glad you had a good time. Yeah, a lot of the greats don't have the vocal range they used to. Still better than me!!

Kev - That BNSF set is nice! Yes, pre order price is quite reasonable. I need to pull the trigger on a few things. Oh, and with your WBB wiring question, could you not just wire the switch to the fixed voltage? Then you wouldn't have to re-wire the locomotive. Am I missing something?

Have a good one and prayers.

Hello There,

last nights concert was great. (not sure why this &*!@#&^* thing is underlining) The band was  Surf City All Stars. They were really good. They had Dean from Jan & Dean and David Marks, one of the original Beach Boys. The rest of the band all played with the Beach Boys at some point. The vocals from the originals were a bit weak but pretty good considering their age. Over the past few years I've seen The Oak Ridge Boys, Lee Greenwood, Barry Manilo and Kenny Rogers. They all sound good but their Vocals ain't what they used to be.

Rob........no help on the shaver. I use electric, with el cheapo from the Dollar store when I wait to long in between.

My treadmill turned into a catchall 4 years ago when I developed plantar fascis. Got used daily before that. Need to get back to it and get some fat off.

Today's project was a trip to Cassandra Pa for a ton of coal. Got it in the house already. Only took an hour and a half. 30 years ago I'd have been done in a half hour with time to spare. Sucks to get old.

Game plan for tommorow is 7AM mass, bloodwork then take down the Christmas tree. Hate to see it go but it's time.

Off to bed soon

Prayers for those in need

Good evening,

new carpet in the stairs is done, Sandra loves it. Brian only took less than an hour and a half to do them then we went to lunch, had a few cold ones then we went to the daughters and looked at her stairs so he can do them. Hers will be easy compared to mine because there is no landing.

Guess the weather is going to dump on us starting tonight.

I have been swapping out motive power on the layout the last week and this evening and for the first time since I got them the black bonnet set from Ryan went back into the boxes tonight and I pulled out the Lionel New Haven ABA set I have.

So I pulled the trigger on the new Lionel BNSF Tier 4 LC set 6-84732 from Charls Ro just to find out it will not deliver till around 10-10-18. But it came with a nice discount so I hope I am still around to get it when it ships. Laugh Wink

Time to chill and crash soon. Been a long day and got a lot of good done.

After

Good evening,

It was cold again today, but it was also sunny which makes my wife happy. I spent the better part of the morning building IKEA furniture for my wife's office space in the house.  In the afternoon the wife and I went shopping for more stuff; I am afraid to look at the bank account these days. Actually, I plan to work our 2018 budget this evening. It is something I enjoy doing.  I best get started.

Good night,

Joe

Good evening all,

Watched Arsenal absolutely smash Everton 5-1 today.  Weather is cloudy and cold. Went to Mass, then Aldi's and then to Chili's for supper.  A good day.  MR and Trains came today as well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Afternoon all!

Overcast and 50.

Back from the shredder. Weighed a couple of boxes. I had over 600 lbs worth. Came up with a system so we can mange this annually vs every few years.

DJ - ouch? The good news is the revenue eh?

Rob - electric shave here...no help.

SJ - each day is a little more daylight...hoo rah!

Banks - how was the concert?

A cloudy 21 degrees this morning.

As usual for February snow is expected by afternoon through most of tomorrow. Income taxes are done, I have a guy thats fair on price and he does in 30 minutes what would take me several hours.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 21 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Might visit some local antique shops and sub shop later on.

Drywall guys were here by 0830 yesterday, and done by 1130.  I asked them for their leftover mud in their trays, and showed them how I used their throw-aways as scenery material along my river beds and abutments.  The owner has an 8 year old son who loves trains.  Wifey was pleased with their work, and we were both relieved that there wasn't any mold behind the old wall. (Probably from our efforts to correct the matter and clean up the room that first 24 hours.)

Banks - I wouldn't mind checking out the Altoona Show.  Depends on train schedule and tax return (or lack thereof....).

Morning All!

Finally made it to the Febraury pot. I was still full from last months buffet!!

We had a pre Super Bowl chili cook off at work yesterday. It sounds like I was in the lead when I left. (I my fire extinguisher near by for those who watch This Is Us!)

A question for you shavers: Do any of you get your blades from places like Harry's or the Dollar Shave Club? I've been weighing the pros and cons lately on wondering if it's worth it. As much as I like my blades from those fine folks in Boston (even if they're Patriots fans!!), it's certainly getting very pricey.

Royal Blue - sorry for your loss

RT - happy belated birthday!

Banks - I have the same problem in my weight room. It's a workout just getting to the equipment sometimes!!

Roy - It doesn't take long to pile up!

Spank - I hear ya. I had such a crappy week at work too. I went to Walmart yesterday to pick up some stuff for a meeting. I was so rattled, that I couldn't remember my card PIN. Poor cashier had to talk me down from having a meltdown.....

Have a good one and prayers.

Rob

Good evening all,

Sunny today.  Cold for the walk, but I wore enough layers.  Very quiet at work, and made good time getting home for once.   Wife made it home ok.  Watched Jane the Virgin and Blue Bloods tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening,

The temperature dropped considerably overnight and today. It was in the 20s most of the day and it was awfully windy. The workday was not too hectic but the wife and I ran to IKEA this evening which definitely made for a busy evening.  I am looking forward to sleeping late tomorrow morning.

Good night,

Joe

Hello there,

sitting in Altoona's Jaffa Mosque waiting to hear a BEACH BOYS cover band whose name escapes me. When I checked yesterday at least half of the tickets were still available.

Today was spent on  mass house husband duties and  clearing enough stuff away from the treadmill to use it.

Back later or tomorrow

Prayers for those in need

Evening all!

Cool one today starting at 33, overcast, and up to 53, sunny.

Well we now have 15 full boxes of papers/files to shred...taking it to the shredding place tomorrow. Also working on rearranging files after emptying all the boxes and file drawers. Wife and I working from home the last 10 years piled up a lot of stuff we had no time to go through before I retired. Glad to be getting to it. Long way to go - esp when I hit the train closets!

Heading out for some Chinese food tonight with the usual neighbors group.

RT - Happy B-Day

Regards, Roy

Morning,

Day started at 4 degrees. Going to light a fire. All the snow they have been yacking about has been pushed out two more days.

Brain our neighbor came over Tuesday evening with some nice new leftover carpet from a job he was on and dropped it off so we can carpet the basement staircase on Saturday. That will be nice. Won't hurt so bad next time I decide to fall down them. Bang Head

Good Morning from Sunny 15°F Southern Ohio,

I've been busy at work and studying the online management course the diocese requested me to take.  Tomorrow will be driving to Columbus for the face time part of the class.  I've got some discerning to do.  The Manager of training has asked me to consider becoming the trainer for the facilities in our department.  It is a position I held years ago and enjoyed.  It would be a 40-hour work week instead of a 50-hour workweek as I'm doing now, and no night shifts, both which is a real incentive.  On the flip side the supervisors I was hired to replace are both leaving soon and will replace them.  Looks like an opportunity to do a little leveraging.

I'm sitting in the dining room looking up the hill watching the deer and squirrels at the corn feeder.  I think I'll let it warm up a bit and do some more tree trimming.

My bride and I decided to post pone the purchase of the scraper blade till next fall unless we happen upon a good deal.  After all of the other outgoing of funds associated with the new house we judged we should wait.  Hopefully we won't have too many big snow falls left in this winter season.  I measured our driveway and it is a ¼ mile long from the street to the garage.

My bride is having a relapse of the flu crud.  She never fully got over it and now is back.

The oldest twin Felicity came through the surgery for the kidney stone good.  They removed several and put in a stint to help pass the rest.  Man, she has a high pain tolerance!

I too am glad to see January pass.  It is hard to believe in a little over two weeks it will be Lent!

Royal Blue – may God have mercy on your Dad's soul

RT – Happy Birthday

may God bless

Jim

Thank you all for your well wishes and kind words.  Happy memories include us going to train shows, as well as Strasburg and New Hope for trips there.

One big responsibility, apart from taking care of all the pension and life insurance paperwork for my mom, is that now I am custodian of not only my train collection, but his.  Trains from the 1920's until about the 1980's were what he collected, and quite a bit of them.

As time passes, this sadness and pain will not be as great as now, and will only become a small part of the long history, most of which was happiness.

Good evening,

The temperature hit a high of 50 or so today.  I had a pleasant day at work but I believe tomorrow will be quite hectic.  The wife made roast beast for dinner and it was delicious.  She used a pressure cooker (Instapot) and it was ready in less than 30 minutes.  We have used it quite a bit since we moved here as we do not have all our cookware and I am most impressed with it.  It's late and I am ready for bed.

Royal Blue - I am sorry for your loss.

Happy Birthday RT!

Spent today in the train room; mostly working on my 2.0 fleet...  Traction tires, charging batteries, disassembling 2 RailKing steamers.  Here's a new one: the momentum strip that activates the synchronized chuffs, you know, the one secured to the flywheel, d-e-t-e-r-i-o-r-a-t-e-d into shreds.  Hmmmm...

Wifey ready to strangle the adjuster from Allstate.

Drywall guy starts tomorrow.

rt - Happy B-DayHappy B-Day to a great guy.
