Hello all
Shaping up to be a quiet Sunday. Co-worker got me up last night when a UPS went out. All good now.
Kev - good luck w/ the truck. 1K was what I paid for the Datsun (too much). Think you got a way better deal. 3.0L engine? We get cars donated to the museum for extra income and right now we have a 2000 Explorer Sport that just needed a battery to start. I did start it up and look under the hood briefly and thought 'no way'. Will stick w/ my air coolers. I'm guessing it was the coolant from the water pump that pushed me over the edge:)
K-line RDC is coming along. Need to re-solder a wire to the ground from one of the trucks.
No boat work this week. Need to get some epoxy to assemble the keel.
You folks all have a safe trip to York.

Morning all!
Finally a sunny day. Started in the 40's and headed to maybe 73?
Napped through some of the NASCAR race yesterday. Overall it was a good race as Bristol put VHT (drag racers know what I mean) on the lower groove and Bristol became a 2 groove track. Pretty clever and it made for a more interesting race with lots of ability to pass without always having to bump vs previously.
More NASCAR today. Another nap.
Can you tell Buckeye is an "ingeneer"?
So Fife - York maybe?
Regards, Roy
Morning. Rainy and 54 degrees. Flood watch is in effect for next two days. 4 to 6 inches of rain guessed.
Guess garden will be rained in. Finished planting it late yesterday afternoon. Only a few more itmes to pant. Not suppose to get much warmer than the temp now. Got 8 tomato plants chest high with quarter sized tomatoes. Planted lots of peppers. mostly hot ones.
Had great Rec Day parade and rain held off for kids ball games. Will put out fertilizer and yard granules as it will melt in the rain. Got some voles raiding Wifey's plants behind the Tain Box. Mira [the cat] is not keeping up. Same for the neighbor's cat that stays out all the time. Mainly that one flower bed. Rest was treated well.Getting ready for trip to York PA for the model train meet. Excited that Don Baker flying in Tuesday evening. Be good to see him and make the trip. Get to see RT too as well as the rest of the gang. The weather is going to be good as I'm driving up this year and Buckeye is staying away. Hope all have a great week ahead.

Mornin' boys. Clearing and 42 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Depending on how Wifey is feeling, church and a trip to Lowe's today. Still need a grill. Wifey spent my YORK funds on a new patio set. It will be nice to feed the skeetoes once again.
Work was hard and dirty this week, as the crew refurbished the outside of a P72 coach. Each day, I'd come home looking like I had played a rugby match on Mars. Gonna switch gears for a few weeks and apprentice for the Chief Mechanical Officer on the steamer.
Mitchie - Have a safe trip. I didn't know Lincoln Hwy stretched that far west...
Good evening all,
Reffed two games in cold, but dry weather. Went to Mass. Get to sleep in tomorrow. Foyt team starting back in the pack tomorrow. Maybe they should have stuck with Honda???? I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Buckeye Riveter KRM Buckeye, Great video. I love the Alaska Gold Train. How much cash is in there. Kev, I'm glad you like the video and the Alaska Gold Train. Let's see, gold is currently at about $1287/troy oz. 1 troy oz. = 1.09714 oz. That would make gold at $ 1,173/oz. If you have one pound of gold, 16oz/lb, that would be $18,767/lb. One Alaska RR Ore Car holds 210,000 lb. This means that one car is holding $ 3,941,141,513 of gold. I have three ore cars, or $ 11,823,424,540 worth of gold. Do I need to divide this by 48 since it is O gauge gold? Roy, good idea.

WOW Buckeye, I think you better. I got a brain freeze looking at all those numbers.
Something for Bob,
I bought a Ford Ranger 2003 or 04 Edge today, "4 wheel drive", 150K miles. It needs a right front wheel bearing and some TLC. I got it from Butch next door for 1K. I don't think I can go wrong. Some fluff and buff and it will be a good back up ride for me. Save the Silverado. Thinking maybe Dan/ some-day -maybe would be interested in it to, if not I will keep it. Butch takes good care of his stuff.
I think it can be standing tall for under $1,500. Has a rust through in the bed from above where the muffler pad was but maybe I can patch the bed floor.
Best get to the tub.

So far a fairly quiet Saturday.
Dennis - I had no donation remorse the next day when I got up:) And yes I had even switched out the original Hi$#ITi carb to a weber. That was better but conversions can cause their own issues as you know.
Roy - the Datsun was a bit of an impulse buy, which I prob should not have done. The idea was ok, but not the actual execution of it:) Now w/ the '63 project car gone and the Datsun, I can finish up the '65 4-dr and finally get that sold and just focus on the Corvan.
Eventually I want to get started on the conversion of the Twin Coach I am buying off the barn to a motorhome of my own. This is my retirement plan so I have some time, but it would be nice to get it underway.
Good morning to All,
It has been quite a while since I posted in late January. It has been a pretty wild ride since then. My brother and I froze our behinds off at the Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona. We had a great time and I would defintely go back. Our son's contract with TriCare was extended 3 times through the end of February. In late January he found out that another company was awarded the contract. He had begun searching for other positions and applied for a position with Amazon. He had phone interviews and then an in person interview in Seattle. So...our boy moved to Seattle. He has been there 3 weeks and seems to really like it. After York and the NASCAR race in Richmond, we will be driving to Seattle to deliver the granddog. Six days on the road with a 60+ lb. English bulldog will be a real adventure. The trip home will be more leisurely, not sure which route we will take. We hope to use his place in Seattle as a launch point for side trips to Vancouver and Portland. Been thinking about taking the train to both places. We'll see.
My wife has continued to have vision difficulties especially with reading. We thought they were related to her cataract surgery. In February, she went back to the ophthalmologist and he was unable to correct her vision to make it clear. When he examined her eyes noticed that he retina didn't look right and he sent her to a retina specialist. The specialist diagnosed her with macular telangiectasia which is a condition that causes swelling and inflammation of the retina which can lead to blind spots and loss of central vision. He said hers appears to be mild case. She had to go for more testing to confirm it. They really don't know what causes it and there's no treatment at this time.
Hope to see some of you guys at York. Is the photo op still on for Friday at 1:00? I stopped by CTT in the fall and saw no one, maybe I missed it.
Take care,
Mitch

Very cool here this morning. 50. Front roared through at midnight. Sat outside a while and watched the lightening and rain - some small hail. There was baseball and tennis ball sized hail 5-10 mi north of us. Glad it went north.
Ray - ouch. Prayers for your recovery.
Dennis - ZW prices have dropped significantly in the last few years. Easy to get a good one at York for $125/135. I think the newer ones with all the protection circuits trump the old stuff now. Just realized I had a ZW from the train show a couple of weeks ago cook the first coils on the secondary. So now they are shorted and it heats up really bad. I have one in the closet I picked up real cheap ($50 - just in case something like this happened) years ago with a cracked case so will combine the two.
SubmmBob - double ouch. Your vehicle luck should be ready to get on the upswing!
Buckeye - seems there should one of the old military cars with some guns to protect that gold shipment...
Sun and 60 today.
Birthday party then fund raiser dinner/show this evening.

Very quiet day at work. Wonderful! Mowed the yard tonight before the rain moved in. I have to ref 2 games, weather permitting but supposed to be dry Sunday so I can get a practice walk in. Foyt cars had best practice so far this season with both being mid-pack. I hope everyone has a good day.
I everyone. I have been MIA for a few days this week. I am still in recovery from a fall on Easter Sunday resulting in a sore back and also still trying to pass a Kidney stone. I am grateful for many local offers from people I know to do favors for me. Hope to be better next week. Ray

Back at work. Has been a relatively quiet day.
Gave up on the Datsun on my week off. Finally got it back together after the fan clutch/water pump debacle and was running some errands and it quit. Did this to me like 6 months ago, but that time it restarted and limped home. Gene picked me up and I went back later that night to get it. Was going to try and limp it over to Bill's since it was close. We were supposed to be putting the cylinder head back on the 4-dr, but now, more Datsun work Considering I bought that truck to use as a daily driver so I could work on the Corvairs, I have ended up spending the time on it While I was eating a pizza it dawned on me that a buddy of mine who wanted a vehicle was even closer. I called him up, told him the situation, and he asked what I wanted for it. I told him if he could take delivery that night he could have it. Well it started, went about 50' and quit again. A few blocks thru a quiet residential neighborhood w/ the parking lights on & me pushing and it was there. When I went to give him the title the next day it started, but it needed to go thru emissions, the timing chain sounded like a bunch of marbles in a can, etc. I told him I wasn't exactly sure I was doing him a favor and good luck.
Will drive the Corvan for the time being and focus on it, which what I should have done instead of picking up that little pos.
Kev - elevated railway looks great!
Buckeye - hope the stones come out ok. The chuff on that Alaska steamer sounds as good as a Flyer!
Have the K-line Amtrak RDC apart for cleaning. Not a bad design at all from something in the 90's. And it looks like it has barely been run.
Ordered the shocks and mirrors I was trying to order for the Corvan when my card got hacked. This time I just called. Nice people to talk to. Also got a few items we needed for the 4-dr. May be down to just one vehicle soon (I consider the bus living space rather than transportation).
Good evening, Thanks guys. Building it has been fun.
No train work today.
5 loads of gravel hauled and leveled then rolled and packed. All of that work for just 30.54 Tons seems like a lot of work but only spent $212.91@$6.50 a ton and Wore out Jim's truck, dump trailer and fuel and some of mine in the tractor.
Big improvement. The lane is finally at a level where some maintenance every year should do it. Last year I did 140 tons and a year or two before that We did 160 ton. That is a lot of trips at 6 ton a load. Add in a one hour round trip to the pit.
I forgot to say, I got another ZW with a fresh service job last night from a make offer. $136.00 + $18.00 to ship. He wanted $157. Not the best deal but not bad. Looks good in the pictures.
So I am way over budget this month.
Hope your stones get out with no issues,
Afternoon all!
Now partly sunny and 80. Storms tonight due to cold front and then high 60's/low 70's for Sat/Sun.
Buckeye - prayers for your surgery and speedy recovery! Glad you felt up to posting!

Buckeye Riveter It's been too long, but it has been a wild two weeks. I have been in the ER twice and in surgery once for my old nemesis, kidney stones but this time with a new twist, a blood clot in my calf. Surgery is scheduled again on April 18th. Until then I sit here, with a stent in my left kidney and on disability from work. I even missed my birthday party last week, too.
Evening all!
Warm today at 85.
Worked a deal on a 2015 MDX. The wife is pleased. Got a decent trade in on the 2002.
Kev - the elevated looks good!
Ditto on the compliment, Kevin. Quiet day at work. Back doing better and had a nice walk today. Did not do much at home tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Looks good to me, Kev.
Only did one section of the elevated loop today but it was a 1/4 72" curve. So I am down to the home stretch. No layout work tomorrow. Going haul gravel for the lane if the weather allows. I need a break anyway. Getting burnt out. But it is looking good. Or at least to me.
What is left to finish.
Evenin' boys. TGTIF...
sir james I OH OH he's actually going. Gotta wear my no grits badge for sure now.

Should have it done tonight and back installed tomorrow. Then the south end. Slow but sure and getting better on every section. By the time I am done I will know what I am doing.
