Evening Gents,

SJ, Congrats on getting your "winterizing" done.  Did ours last (took down the ornamental Patio lights, and put regular lights up.)

V8, Glad you were able to get the Chromebook issues taken care of, always helps if you have a knowledgable person near by.

Finished my tape recorder project. AND it works!  Saved a $580 repair bill.  I am quite pleased!  However, found some oddities on the recorded tapes.  I sent home from Nam over 50 tapes that I had recorded while I was there.  The base had an extensive music library and during my off duty hours I would make copies.  Any way I sent the tapes home and a friend of mine hooked the recorder up and showed my Mom how to use it, she really liked it.  So far I have found the following;

  • - Missing take up reel, (found it with a complete tape on it, which was never rewound,  no biggie.)
  • - Another tape was twisted a 1/2 turn, and wrong side facing out, and the same tape was rewound backwards.  (The begining was on the inside of the reel?)
  • - Tape of Woodstock was recorded over with an exercise class of Jane Fonda's!  Now I ask you what guy would have a Jane Fonda tape at that time period?  Smile

I'm sure will find more oddities, but it is funny how things got so mixed up.  It doesn't upset me, I think it is funny, can just see her frustrated not being able to find what she wanted.

We have the annual Cal-Stewart meet coming up this week-end, think I might go on Sunday.  Going to be looking for a couple of the metal Lionel signs.

BTW, got my Disneyland annual pass issue resolved!  Suggested that I get her the pass, and then I will go to York in April!  She thought that was a great plan!  Can't argue with that!!

That's about all I know, so hope everyone has a enjoyable week-end.  Going to be planning for Turkey day, assuming the Chief hasn't cornered the market.

A nice day but cold tomorrow. Front has shot through.

Doug M - they showed these giant piles of road salt stockpiled in Chi Town.

SJ - so the Snow Whacker is ready to go?

Sun and 70 today. Tomorrows Hi will be 42.

I decided it was a good morning to run the mower and whacker dry, I just run them till they stop that leaves a little gas in the carb. And that winter thing is gassed and ready...Crying

Morning. 55 and sunny. Warming through Sat PM. Might get a shower Sat. late and cold front. Not really cold though.

Spent a lot of yesterday from 10 AM [Human Services BD before] on until 4 PM with one of the twin Granddaughters at Duke Children's Hospital where she had her tonsils removed.

Trying to head east to hunt. Being held up. 60 turkeys needed. I am financing most if I can get Food Lion to override their 2 per customer limit [dirt cheap sale]. If not, got PTA parents ready to raid Food Lion. Then that will be remembered by our citizens who shop there [maybe not anymore for awhile]. New manager from VA and he is not a good "community person".  Had some offers for financial assistance from here.  Just hold and lets see how it play out.  Thanks

Have a great weekend.

Mornin' boys.  Clear and 29 along the Patterson Creek cutoff.  Was hoping to wake up with a full head of hair after the "Super Moon", but alas, just a few strands from the ear canal.  Not enough for a comb-over.  Had nice visit with family, and we all drove down to Keyser for dinner.  Good to see Mom out and about for a change.

Caught the end of the Nascar race.  #20 learned what goes around comes around.  Can't get behind any of the final 4.  I'm a life-long Petty fan, so I guess anybody but the 48.

88 - What happened to your beloved Steelers last night.  Sheesh...

sirjames - Condolences.

Roy - POD is on it's way to the Big D.  Headed to Prescott's house.  Tony is rested, relaxed, and ready to take the reigns.

Afternoon fellas

I've been under the weather since Saturday night. Just now starting to feel more like myself.

Took the family to Tilted Kilt for dinner Saturday and while we were walking in Matthew got 'distracted' by one of the waitresses and walked into a wall. (This was quite understandable) We all got a chuckle out of it. Christina is growing up, much too quick for my liking. She really loves kindergarten. She is very sharp and very quick witted.

PSU's season is progressing much better than I could have ever dreamed. Even with all the injuries they are now 8-2 with two games remaining (both winnable) and if OSU beats Michigan in two weeks PSU will play for the conference championship.

The Steelers I simply have no words. Big Ben has been playing on an injured knee, but you would never know it from yesterday's performance. Their issues now appear to be on defense. With as good as PSU has been playing I will take that over The Steelers. And Hockey season has started so we have that too.

Banks - excellent news! praying the prognostication is accurate and no futher set backs!

SJ - I missed what happened. But prayers are being lifted for you as well.

Dougnothegrump - continued prayers

Mornin' Fellas

Found a really nice company who will cut firewood to whatever length you desire and will deliver for a very reasonable rate. They are only 4 miles away! Got 2+ cords delivered yesterday for $400. For this area that is a good price. Also got the number for a guy who will cut down trees, and this mornning got the number for a company who will come and clear the 4 inches of leaves off my yard (they blow them into a pile, then put them through a shredder and haul them away to make compost Thumbs Up... now to make phone calls and get quotes.

GREAT to see DougNotta back! Take it easy and recover quickly.

Found out that a friend from my old neighborhood had back surgery last week. His new bride and he own a ranch in Montana... they already have had snow and he has been out clearing and all sorts of stuff... not a week post surgery! Told him he needs to slow down, and relax. He's an impressive guy. Has his private pilot license for both planes and helicopters, owns his own business, does all sorts of crazy stuff. His wife is a veterinarian for the local ranchers and has an outreach center. Absolutely awesome couple. Just wish he would take it easy and recover before he blows his back out again.

Roy - that is good to know about the ZW-L... maybe I'll wait till ZW-L v 5.0 Laugh

Fife - I've been doing a lot of research on tires for the Durango... found that BJ's warehouse seems to have the best prices around here. There is something to be said for requiring yearly inspections.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 37 along the Patterson Creek cutoff.  Dodge needs new tires to satisfy the mountain state.  Ouch.  Neighbor driving around on bologna skins, go figure...

Good to see dbaker posting regularly.  If I lived as close to Disney, I would simply get those passes every year for Valentines/Mother's/Birthday/etc, since Wifey would be going there anyway.

Great to see dougnotta posting, period.

Hello all

Back at work for another week. Trying to stay awake thru the night shift:)

Thanks for the brithday wishes. Didn't really do anything, but the week before I did find a Lionel Transit Corgi O-scale GM 'old look' bus that I couldn't turn down.

I finally found a decent deal on a Marx 1666 cylinder smoker. They can be hard to find and since the 1666 is a plastic shell often things can be missing. I bought a cylinder smoke unit a while back w/ the idea I would convert a normal 1666, but it turns out you need a special drive rod and plunger, which can be REALLY hard to find. Should be fun for the holidays anyways.

Glad to hear about DougG.

Good Evening,

Doug, So glad to hear your on the road to recovery!  That is really great news.  Now, just take it easy and do as your told, Im sure Sherry will keep you in line and on track.

Roy, that is really interesting regarding the ZW-:L, so far the one I have installed has not been an issue, but I sure will keep in mind about connecting the Command Base directly to the track.

I may be in big trouble here!  The mail came today and of course 90% of it is junk mail.  Kay sorted it all and all the junk mail went right in to the recycler, EXCEPT two notices about renewing Disnyland Annual Passes.Tongue TiedBlack Eye  They were left sitting very prominantly on the kitchen table.  Oh no!  What could this mean?  Not what I think, I hope.  Any suggestions?

Spent most of the day working on the tape recorder, its going well should wrap it up tomorrow.  Sure hope it works.

Take care and stay healthy!!

So glad to find out Doug is doing well!

Yea!! Doug is back!! Glad things are slowly getting back to normal. Don't feel bad I'm still not suppose to lift more than 8 LB's because of them spliting my ribs for my operation back in September.

Have a good one all

Just a mere shadow of my former self but beginning to work our way thru some of the "post surgery issues" . Hopefully all will be hunky-dory by Thanksgiving but due to restrictions for the first time in decades I wont be cooking dinner. However our friends and relatives will be doing the cooking for our usual houseful.

This year I have just a little bit more than normal to be thankful for this Thanksgivng.

Thanks to all for the thoughts and prayers. Bow

Good nite all !

GUY THINGS!
First we got hot dogs from Boz, then did leaves, cut grass, all the time he was on the JD toy tractor running all over behind me away from the throw like I told him. . Battery died. Then split wood and stacked wood, then went into the field and harvested down corn and spread it around on the deer path by the tree stand. He dropped at 4:00PM
 I am not far behind.
Need to eat and start on trains.

Evening all!

A beaut of a day, high 70's.

Joe - next Thurs I will be in Turkey also - up to my elbows in fact! Pies too!

Dennis - Midnight Express - ow ow ow!

We have had two interesting incidents with the ZW-L and Legacy/TMCC. The ZW-L has a terminal to connect the Legacy/TMCC command base directly to the ZW-L instead of having to connect the command base to the track common. In both cases, after some months of perfect operation, the trains on the two separate layouts, two separate ZW-Ls, started acting erratic, due to poor signal to the trains. After much head scratching and mods to the layouts thinking we had a layout grounding problem, one of the team found that simply taking the Legacy/TMCC base wire loose from the ZW-L and connecting the Legacy/TMCC command base directly to the layout track common solved the problem. We have never disassembled a ZW-L to find out what is in line with the ZW-L command base terminal and the ZW-L common terminals (too expensive to play with the guts if it is working), but it is something that fails and can cause a lot of hair pulling and misplaced layout troubleshooting.

Buddy of mine went to York and bought a Lionel ZW-L transformer believing it included a Legacy system within the xfmr.  He is going to be quite disappointed when he finds out it doesn't.

Yes he sure will be. Lionel never claimed the ZW-L had the LCS built into the unit, it is LCS ready, but you still need the CAB-2 and Base to make it work. I would love to get my hands on a ZW-L for my next layout, they are very nice looking and have plenty of power. Smile OAH-OAH (in my best Tim Taylor voice).

Sherry, thank you so much for telling us about Doug.  I include my prayers for him and you and will continue to pray for a good recovery.  We are all thinking about him here.

I have neglected to keep up with the coffee pot lately.  Spending too much time on facebook.  That's a big time waster.  My sister back East talked me into getting on it for pictures but there is a lot of garbage on there too.  Some people including relatives haven't got over the election yet.  I have!  It's over!

Our big West Coast train meet called "Cal Stewart" is coming up this weekend I think but I will take a pass.  Don't need anything and nothing to sell at this time.  They  have moved to the L.A. County Fairground this year to save money over the previous location in Ontario, California.

Don, good to see you posting again.  I'm sure you have seen all of Disneyland you want for a while.  I have never seen the Calfornia Adventure part yet.  Might do that sometime.  I think the Disneyland Railroad is shut down for new construction in the park this year.

Good evening all,

Good day at work.  Good weather for walk.  Finally got the outdoor lights tested.  Tomorrow night should be spent hanging at least the ones above the front porch.  Those are the ones that are a pain to do.  The others are ground level affairs.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Kev - seems like you need to do a little "harvesting" on the lawn there! Free range turkeys!

Roy, the problem is they are never there when you have the shotgun ready or they are in season. So all you can do is watch them when they’re here and then look out for their droppings all over after they leave. Surprise

Good Morning,

Hoping Doug has a good day!

Roy, I'll bet you I have electronic stuff older than you! Whistling  Even though I'm sure all yours still work.

Got thru the last two days, barely.  Last year Kay wanted annual passes to Disneyland, Bang Head;  (I am TOTALLY burned out on those places, having worked at both D-land, and Knotts).  So Monday was Disney California Adventure, and Tuesday was Disneyland.  Should be the LAST visits there for awhile.  I took lots of pictures, MAYBE I can appease her with them.  Still have to go to Knotts as they offer free admission for Vets and spouse in November, so that's still coming.

Buddy of mine went to York and bought a Lionel ZW-L transformer believing it included a Legacy system within the xfmr.  He is going to be quite disappointed when he finds out it doesn't.

Chief, good luck with the Thanksgiving dinner prep.  I'm sure you will be able to find plenty of turkeys.  Great jesture !

Mornin Fellas

Continued prayers for Doug!

Chief - that sucks. if I had known earlier our local grocer is selling turkeys for 39 cents per pound! Could have bought a bunch and we could have met up mid way to exchange.

Buckeye Laugh

Demay - You're stuck in Turkey? That doesn't sound good. Hope you can get out.
