Good Afternoon,

Looks like everyone had a great weekend, ('cepting flat tire).  We did well here had a good Thanksgiving, didn't eat too much, but enjoyed it.  (BTW, I've lost about 65 lbs in the last year, donated most of my clothes/jackets/shoes etc, got new stuff.)  Then on Friday we put up the outside decorations, did some tree trimming, mowed lawn yard, and general cleaning.  Looks good.  Saturday comes and we do a show in the morning with rain, then go to a train show (local monthly show, but NO ONE was there, then went to a gun show with Chris.  The gun show is quarterly and about 3/4 the size of York, huge show.  Sunday, kicked back and had turkey soup.  (Found out the schedule I picked up for the train show had Nov 26, but didn't look at the top which said 2017! So I was a little early).

Chief, IF you want good care from the VA, all you have to do is move to Calif., they are great here!

Been planning on a haircut here too, closed today but going to a different barber, cost for seniors $10.  FIL says they are real good, so will see.

ANOTHER Dentist appointment coming up this week, afraid this going to get expensive, starting by pulling a tooth, then doing partials, UGH.  (Can't get dental through VA Crying

G Bear, That's really tough regarding all the losses, I hope I'm not high up on your friends list.

Going to get busy and see what I can get into in the train room, still listening to old tapes of music, deciding what to keep and what to rerecord.  So far I'm on tape 24 of approximately 55 or so.

Take care all and be safe.

Good evening and Happy Belated Thanksgiving,

Over the long holiday weekend, the family and I had an amazing trip to Chamonix, France, which is located in the Alps.  It was tough to leave such an awesome location and I'm sure we will visit there again.  Fortunately, the chalet we rented had two ovens and we were able to have our usual Thanksgiving fare as we brought food with us.  I will have to upload some photos of the spectacular views.

Rob - PSU will have a tough challenge against Wisconsin but either way I am happy.

Fife - How's your German coming along?

Good night,

Joe

When I went from a old fashioned box TV to a 49” TV a half a year ago I had to expand my TV table. So now I have taken a interest on what people have their TV’s sitting on.

A few people have their TV’s built into the wall, that obviously cost a fortune.

V8, 49" LG flat screen on a Walmart TV table is what we use. The table was like $100.00 or less.

Rain and wind with temps in the 40s. good indoor weather. So wife and I went to Menards and picked up some carpet shampoo to use with the carprt cleaner on the big throw rugs later this week. Stopped at Boz hot dogs on the way home and had dogs and chips for lunch.

It has been certainly an interesting day in Buckeyeland.  Apparently a suspect is dead after attacking students at OSU with a car and a butcher knife.  Eight or more are in the hospital never the less.

Lower Michigan is at 43 degrees this morning with rain expected for the overnight.

Saturday was football day. The Buckeyes beat Michigan and as expected Penn State beat Michigan State. So the Buckeye win gave me a 50/50 day. Haircut is done, car is full of gas, let the day begin.

Morning.  Cloudy and going to 60 degrees they say.

Decorating outside for the Wifey.  A few errands.

Seems good to be "off".  Actually Mayors are never off.

If you are a Vet and need help, you will agree that VA needs a good "house cleaning".  Promises for years and nothing. Angry

Got back from our trip to Michigan today.  We put about 1800 miles on the minivan since last Sunday. Was a mixed bag sort of trip.  Had a flat tire about 15 miles out of Moberly, Mo. Sunday on our way to Michigan.  Didn't want to run on the mini-spare for the rest of the trip, so we backtracked to Moberly to get the real tire fixed.  Only place open was a WalMart.  About 4 hours later, we were finally back on the road - they had to take customers in the order that they arrived.

Raked leaves in 38 degree drizzle at our Michigan house. Soaked 5 pairs of gloves and 2 pair of socks on that job.

Visited mom a couple of times.  Took care of some repairs on her house.

Ended up raking more leaves Friday morning before starting back home.  Still only got about 2/3 of the lawn done - there are about 25 big oak trees on our Michigan property. Stopped and visited with our son and his wife in Hobart.

All in all, had 9 days off, drove for 5 of them, spent 2 in Lansing, leaving just 2 days for chores and relaxation in our place in Michigan.  Going to have to re-think that on the next trip.

On the train front, we stopped by the train shop in Lowell, ind. and picked up an operating barrel car, and a pair of Fastrak switches.

The plant was not running last week, so the catch up when I go in tomorrow should not be too bad.

About all for now.

Good evening all,

Good day today.  Mulched leaves.  Will have to do it one more time for hard maple tree, but that will be it.  Only did 4 miles tonight because I got a late start and I was tired.  Did it in 59:59 and I was able to maintain a steady pace.  Felt like I could have gone farther, but did not want to push.  Next week I will go for 13 as I am off on Monday.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Evening from 45°F Southern Ohio,

It was a beautiful day.  I served at two of the downtown parishes today then my grandson and I went to the train show.  The big hit was the scale replica of the Sciotoville Bridge.  The guys took one of the O scale oval layouts and incorporated the bridge.  It is cool. 11 inches wide, 32 inches high, and 32 feet long. It weighs 400 pounds, has 15,000 individual pieces and is held together in one solid piece by 55,000 individual welded connections.

I’m going to try again to link the newspaper article.

After the train show and lunch the kids and I put up the tree and put on 1100 LED lights.

The Christmas decorating has begun.

Good night and may God bless

Jim

Evening all!

Got outdoor lights up and the tree set up and partially decorated. Kids come for dinner tonight so hopefully they will finish it.

Back is sore from going up and down attic stairs. So I am properly anesthesising it with some red wine.

G Bear - welcome back - that's tough. Sorry to hear but as you note, not unexpected.

Ray - that stew sounds good!

Doug M - that's cool about your kids spending time together!

Regards, Roy

Hello everyone,

Had to take time away from things for awhile.  A really nice lady who worked here at the Veterans Home years ago is dying from cancer after fighting it twice before.  Since I've been here at the Home I've lost approximately 500 friends to cancer, heart attacks, etc.. in just over 15 years.  I knew that when I came to the Home that people would pass away, but I never knew that in this space of 15 years that I would loose this many friends.  Sad

Good afternoon all.

A few showers this morning.  After church I made a big oyster stew and had three bowls full with some baked cornbread I made.  Won't need much dinner.  My son works for the federal government.  All the employees are worried about what Donald Trump might do.  later,

Ray

Sunday afternoon on the North Bluff, cloudy and cold.

For some reason I slept till almost 10:00, maybe because I could not fall asleep till after 2:00. Should not had that Rocky Road ice cream cone before bed. Sugar buzzed. Laugh

Doug, I have thought about a gate. Our lane is used by six lots and we are the end one 1/2 mile from the road. I could put a gate by the entrance to our property but it would be 800’ from the house and out of site. Also the distance with the woods in the way is to far for a transmitter to get a signal from the house and back feeding power there would be costly. Maybe if I won the lotto last night. Wink

Aloha. Sounds like everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. The adult children are still here = they want to watch the Bears lose before heading back to Michigan. We had a nice relaxful T'giving day with plenty of left-overs. As the new guy, my middle boy worked his para-transport job all day. All the kids headed out to Black Friday shop overnight. I think they do it more now to stay out late together than to actual shop. Kev, up here you are allowed to put a gate across a private road, especially if the mailbox on the main road.

Morning all,

My Wolverines......uggh.... Oh well. At least Ohio State didn't win the Big 10 East. Joe/88 - How about your Nittany Lions? They pulled it off! Congrats to PSU. Is it coincidence that the big football games are on during the Black Friday sales? I'm sure they're was a few replaced smashed TV's over the weekend. :)

I guess I should think about getting the Christmas stuff out today. I was "trying" to since Thursday!! We try to do it as a family, but as the kids are older and have there own agenda, I assume it will be just myself and the Mrs.

Have a great day and prayers to all in need.

Good evening all,

No luck at the train show today, but enjoyed a trip to the Eiteljorg Museum to see Jingle Rails and the new Bud Adams exhibit.  After that, went to Sarah Fisher's indoor karting and restaurant place.  Finished up with trip to IMS to see their holiday lights.  All in all, it was a good day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' boys.  Mostly cloudy and 42 along the Patterson Creek cutoff.  Oldest Princess and her little family arrived last night.  Grandson not feeling good, but slept through the night.  Wifey up already prepping the Butterball, as we are hosting dinner today.  At 3.  Bring wine if you are coming...

Local HO club is holding open house at the Allegany Fairgrounds for the next month.  Heard it's worth a look.

Breakfast at Brackett airport, local field, this morning.  Good food but a little pricey.  All those places charge two or two fifty for coffee nowadays.  Bought some more shoes for the wife and paid her a visit this afternoon.  Went to Costco for OTC meds.  Had a hot dog and a drink for 1.50.  Best deal in town.  Rain predicted for tomorrow PM and showers on Sunday.  We need it.

Good Turkey day for us,

Did the last leaf sweep and burn this afternoon. Temps in the mid to low 40s. Yard is clean for now but I am done.

Having a few beers in the shed. Wife is decorating the Christmas tree I brought up from the basement so I could keep her out of my hair. LOL She got her second in advance Christmas gift today, a new power tooth brush to replace the one she had that took a crap. I told her to keep the empty box and I will wrap it and put it under the tree. He he he he.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Morning. Unseasonably warm 64 degrees. Seems every time I go to the woods, its hot and full of mosquitos.

Christmas decorations to put up in the yard. Then hit the road. Slept late until Lucy [middle dog] stood at the end of the bed and started barking and saying get up.

Ham sandwich and coffee.

Have a good one.

Good evening all,  Had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner out with my youngest son and his new wife.  We had a nice visit with my wife enroute.

KRM, Sounds like a good dog at least is in order but the shotgun sounds like good insurance too.

Phish, I was touched by the story of the parish taking care of the funeral expenses for the old lady.  God bless them.  We need more people like that to step up to the plate when needed.

I was up until 2:00AM last night.  No reason just did.  Slept until 10:00AM today and it felt good.  Just hope I can go to sleep sooner tonight so I can get up early for Friday breakfast with my train buddies.  Have to set the clock.  Sitting here listening to an old Firehouse 5 plus Two album that was transferred to a CD.  I knew Ward Kimball and saw the band a few times.  Those were all wonderful people, if a little zany.  Brings back some fond memories. Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving day.
