Good day from beautiful sunny 80°F Southern Ohio,

Next project; a chicken coop.  Grandson going to raise chickens for a 4-H project.  I’m ok with it because I’ve been toying with having a few laying hens for a bit.  Besides it gives me a good excuse to buy a pneumatic stapler.  Looking at a Hitachi N3804AB3 18gauge ½ to 1 ½ capacity.

Ray – When I was on assignment out of town for a year and after work came to where I was staying and it was just me, it was weird.  Quite a change for the hustle and bustle of home with kids and wife so I have a notion of what you’re saying about being lonely.   Try and stay active and have purpose for each day.

Kev – got a pic of the bridge?  I love restorations.  Maybe I’ll post some restorations over the next few SPFs

Rich – a ’70 RoadRunner?!?!?!  That is the car that I went over 110mph the first time with!  Like with so many things the first time is most memorable.  383; 440, Hemi?

Don- We're going to be visiting youngest daughter in LA in a few weeks

May God bless

Jim

Phish, here is the bridge and it's new location. I used CastBlast paint on it.

Now for the next restoration,,, The south side of the house re-stain. Want to help???  Laugh The neighbor's old lift will make it go good.

Good evening all,

Early post as we are going to see Civil War tonight.   Work went well except when pain two was being unbelievably inconsiderate to all today.   Should be relatively quiet the rest of the week.   Weather was good today for walk.   Soccer league starts tomorrow, but thunderstorms may postpone the match.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening all. Was a good day today we went to Aiken again but this time was a run for garden soil and plants ( HD) for the flower bed along side of the house. 17 bags later the 4'w x 8'L x 1'D is filled. Wife has already put the 23 plants we bought today but wants a few more.

Then we went to Wally world and got a few things, I picked up a couple of cans of Paint ( sray paint) I found one a shade of yellow real close to what I needed for my 607 and 608 passenger cars. I'm doing one right now as a test ( thanks to Kevin sand blasting me two 607's ) I'm trying to do one in green with yellow trim. ( apple green ) and the other is blue with either silver ( which my others are ) or white. I have to find a apple green in a spray can somewhere and the shade of blue is being challenging so may have to go with something close. ( think I need to bring one of each car with me the next time I go paint searching. Smile. I've taken some pics as this is going along and pland to show some when done. Fun project just doing it very slowly hoping to get it right the first time. The biggest thing is getting colors I can live with. Will see.

Hope all are doing well and prayers for all in need.

Phish and Doug in Sandy Eggo (or close to it), thanks for the moral support and good advice to stay focused.  I'm getting a little better at it day by day.  Today was a great day for Helen.  I had lunch with her and stayed for a while and my son and his wife had dinner with her.  She had seen the hair dresser at the facility and she looked better than she has since she got there.  Also another family friend dropped by for lunch too so all in all she had plenty of company today.

I had dinner tonight with a friend from church.  Maybe I'll run some trains tomorrow.

Good night all, tomorrow is already here.

Hello all

Counting down the last couple of hours before I go find a pillow and then drive home later. Blasting ZZTop to keep me awake. After 80+ hours in 7 days you tend to get a bit tired:)

Kev - I like the bridge. Looks just like the one I have

SPRay - glad to hear you're in good spirts and the wife is doing well

Working on the Charles W. Morgan model project again. Looks like I'll be able to step the masts soon. Started this when I was a teenager and then it sat in the box for a long time (32 years). Been working at it on and off (like most of my projects) for the last couple of years. Who knows how long it will take me to complete the rigging!

Aloha. Sunny and pleasantly hot. Finally. Thunderstorms may wreck our weekend though. Jim, that's a fine pneumatic stapler! We can't (legally) have chickens in our town. A big row about it a few years back. Kind of silly.  Buckeye, sounds like something I would say! M

Morning all, 71* at present going up to 87* so its getting into summer here.

Going to stick around here today was going to go to Aiken today but got a call this morning that the V.A. clinic has a appointment for me to get my eye checked tomorrow at 1 P.M. so that works out better and I get mileage from the V.A. for going   :).

Will check Home Depot for a green and a blue I will be able to live with. to redo the cars I know this may mean redoing all of them but if that's what it takes that is fine but doing these two first to see what type of job I can do.   :o

Hope all having a good day.

Take care all will stop in again later.

Well I dude it. Went in the basement and flipped the power on for the A/C. It was 87 yesterday with 80s all week. Of course they tossed in the chance for T/showers each day. The new modular layout is ready for our June club meet. 3 loops now with a 4th to be added later with 96 inch curves.

Good evening all,

Good day weather wise.  Pain two was gone most of the day and pain one left before noon.  Closed the month with no drama for once.  Got CTT today, but did not read it as I had first soccer match of the season.  It will have to get better because we lost by double digits tonight.  It was ugly.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Good day from beautiful Southern Ohio

Kids officially on summer break now.  I called home and they slept in a bit.

Kev – the bridge looks great!

Buckeye – “Unknown potential” Oxymoron, recent past, near future, government intelligence.

Doug – I’m going to order the stapler off Amazon.  I’ll report back on how it works

RT – I’ve had good luck with the Krylon paints to find matches.  An interesting or useful sticky might be a a key or chart listing the rattle can color numbers for various restoration color matches, the different shade of green and reds that Lionel, Marx and of course, American Flyer used.

May God bless

Jim I have found some real close matches and when you consider the trains I'm trying to match are 75 years old  +/- a year and how much they may have faded in all that time I think I might be real close to the original. If I have to redo all of then so be it. I'm at this point enjoying it even with some boo boo's as a whole there looking real good. I have some other projects I want to do this year also that's not trains but will be nice when done. ( metal lawn chairs from the 50's/60's )

Was an easy day today went to Aiken for eye appointment because I'm diabetic. but first went to Home Depot to look at paint in spray cans and a couple of other things, then to Golden coral after DR. appointment then to Lowes and finally back to Home Depot for more items ( found my paint with better closeness at Lowes) any way got more Flowers at Home Depot and a few at Lowes. Bought 4" x 4" x 6' pressure treated to make a hand rail to the front porch not one there also got a 1" x" x 8' and a 2" x 4" x 8' all pressure treated to do the job and also some 1" x 4" x 8" for more shelves here in the train room. So I got myself some jobs for the next few days lol. Hope all have a great Memorial Day Weekend and Thank a vet.

Good evening all,

A very good day at work.  Completed a project that has been a long time in progress.  The end result worked very well.   Our newly hired director quit after less than a month on the job.   Had a nice lunch with a coworker as well.   Lucas and his intended were down for a visit today.   Niece's wedding is tomorrow and of course the 100th running of the Indy 500 is Sunday.  Hope the weather cooperates and the race is safe and AJ's team wins.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening all, my oldest son tried out the newly opened expo line yesterday from L.A. to Santa Monica.  He also rode from Azusa to downtown L.A. before transferring.  It sounded like a horror story. It was standing room only most of the way and a lot of dirt bag characters were riding on the West Side.  One guy was smoking a joint on the platform and daring anyone to say anything about it.  My son had to walk about a mile from his stop to his workplace because the connecting bus failed to stop and pick him up.  The story sounds like the movie "Trains, Planes and Automobiles".  It took about 3 hours plus each way.  He is back to driving now for a while until they get the bugs out of the system.  I don't think I will be taking that trip on it to the ocean either for a while unless I go on Saturday.

Nice day, 77 going to 86 with a good breeze and some clouds. Picked up Grand-son #3 about 24 hours ago he is 33 months old and full tilt or sleeping.. So that don't leave much time for anything else. When he gets up from his nap I will take him home and when I get back I will take a nap.  ;) Holiday party tomorrow it his other grand parents house. Saves us the mess.

Power was out for three hours yesterday evening so the gen set got a good workout. It needed new gas anyhow so this helped drain it down some.

Morning to all. It has been a while since I have posted, probably not since the York meet. I have only about 23 work days left before I retire. I had 8 1/2 vacation days that I needed to use or lose.  I'm a dedicated employee, but I am not a fool, so I'm not going to give away vacation days.  I am taking off all of next week and a couple of three day weekends. It will be sort of a test to see if my better half can stand having me home full-time. We haven't done much for the first three days off other than go to a community celebration and go to some yard sales.  The heat and the humidity have been brutal the last three days. I think the weather is going to cool down a little bit in the next few days, so I might be able to get out into the garage and the train room. Cleaning out the garage and working in the train room are two of my major projects as I retire. My wife's sisters are coming for a retirement celebration in the end of July, so there is a lot of prep work to get ready for their visit.

Today will be a major race day. Hope to watch Indy and the Coca-Cola 600.

Take care,

Mitch

Good morning, another beautiful day on the North Bluff.
Got to cut the grass around the house and then the thing at the some-day-maybe SIL’s mom and Dad’s house.
Fife. Our house is set up for the generator to take over up to 10 circuits but I have to pull start the gen set, plug it into the hook up box, then flip the manual transfer switch in the basement and select the circuits I want to use. Better than nothing. I keep thinking how much better it would be to have something outside the shed that would just start up and take over the whole business. If I were doing it over???? Huh? Maybe some day I will do the Generac. They seem to be getting cheaper every year and would sure be nice.
Mitchelr, Congrats on making it to retirement!!! Enjoy it.
Enjoy the holiday and thank a Vet!!!  Yes
