Good evening all,

Horrible days the past two.  Pain in feet was bad yesterday and major last night.  Got very little sleep.  Work was awful as nothing went right.   Wife is cancelling DC trip due to events in Belgium.  She is absolutely petrified about going now.  Change of plans means we will tour Hoosier land next week, which is not so bad.  I hope everyone has a good day (especially me!).

Keep on training,

Evening all!

Another terrible attack. My BIL is from Belgium and his sister still lives in Brussells. They shut down the cell system but we assume she was far from the mess.

Phish - congrats!

Mike C - feel better soon.

Our zoo built a big savannah area for the elephants and they are bringing 6 here from one of the African countries where elephants are dying due to a drought.

Really windy here and to continue through Thursday with winds Thurs to be 30-50 mph. 80 tomorrow.

Mornin' Fellas

Need to get out sometime today or tomorrow to refill one of the propane tanks for the grill. I've never gone through a tank in 3 weeks - yes the new grill is getting a workout, it is doing a great job, and the family is loving the results. TheQ and I were scheduling events for our Jamaica trip in June with the kids, had some issue with the scheduling site and kind of forgot about dinner on the grill. Dinner was a bit dry, but still edible - note to self - new grill works VERY well, do not forget about food when it is on the grill. Smile

Still trying to work out if I can attend York next month.

Kids are wanting to go to PSU for the Blue/White game (think it is more to see their grand parents) on the 16th, if the weather is nice I will probably take them as TheQ has her annual sorority luncheon that day.

Two of TheQ's employees were returning from Sierra Leone, their flight out was cancelled due to weather, so they had to fly to Israel, then to Brussels. They were waiting for their flight yesterday morning and had just left the Starbucks where the first bomb went off. They had a very stressful day trying to figure out what was what and how they were getting home. TheQ's company worked very hard to make arrangements for them to get out of Belgium to Amsterdam, they spent the night in Amsterdam and are returning home this evening. Was a relief to hear they were OK, they will forever be changed.

Prayers for all the victims (and survivors) and their families.

Good morning,

Cooler and cloudy with rain tonight. 42 now heading to 60 later. Spring weather for sure. The underbrush is turning green and that means the end of the line for free food for the deer. When this bag is gone there on their own.

Angel Here is to hope for all those injured and lost in yesterday's madness.

Cloudy and 44. Rain later, so they say.

Due to illness the owner and best repairman I ever knew, suddenly closed Wild Bills trains. I was expecting it but not without some kind of advance notice. Lionel's pre-order date has past so a lot of guys are scrambling to find stores that ordered extra. I was able to find an online dealer to get my pre-order from.

Yes Kevin for many of us it was the #1 train store, not a hobby shop, an entire store of 3 rail product. (being a Lionel dealer he also carried some Lionel Flyer). We have 3 other local hobby shops but there was only one Wild Bills.

Good evening all,

Work much better from a personal standpoint.  Got done what I could do on my own.  Other people........   Tried to walk some today, but feet are letting me down.   I know there are people who are in worst shape than me, but I am really tired of things going wrong with my body and the constantly differing sources of pain.   It....just....never.....ends......ugh!   I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello all

Back @ work for another week. 6 more after this.

Thanks again for all the thoughts and input on the job situation. Going to talk w/ the director next week when I get back. Someone who used to work for us is interested in coming back, so this may work out for everyone. There may be options within the department, so we will see.

Well we got the '73 GM 'fishbowl' bus started and the brakes released. We were able to drive it slowly on the deflated air bag system to the new location, but it was a rough ride. I got to drive it part of the way! 7316 is in it's new home.

Then I pulled the carb off one of the PW Twin Coaches. That buts was too far gone to think about starting. I realized we could install that carb on the propane powered Twin temporarily to get it over to the new barn. Lucky for us, this two barrel Holley was used on flathead Fords among other things so a rebuild kit is available.

Kev - I think I am set for N-gauge rolling stock for the time being. I need to work on the track joints on the layout and get the blocks set up. Nice score on that tank!

Mornin' boys.  Very pleasant in the Mid-Atlantic region, weather-wise.  Actually gonna "comb" the lawn today with the mower.  Spent yesterday at the marina sanding the yatchet bottom.  Then discovered the boat batteries were both drained, so had to hoist them off the boat on ladder, then had to hand pump the bilge.  Might go back down to epoxy a couple spots later.

Horrible what happened in Brussels.  Our rail system is very vulnerable, and unfortunately, an afterthought.

Happy Holy Thursday from overcast Southern Ohio

Bob - Your bus project sounds really neat.  Could you post pictures?  Love to see vintage vehicles.

Fife- Have you ever used a battery tender to keep the charge up on the batteries?  In the winter I don’t drive the truck much so I use one on it.  I figure it costs less than replacing batteries, but I guess your boat has deep cycle batteries.

Mike-Maybe the body is saying let me heal some more.  Have you tried something with less impact like biking or swimming.

Buckeye-on your way home if you swing by Portsmouth to see the by-pass project swing by and we’ll set another plate for supper, or lunch, or breakfast.

Brent-sounds like the grill is getting a workout and the Q gets a break too.

Dennis- The del Sol is such a neat car.  Sporty and Honda reliability I’d imagine.

My neighbor came over and looked at the fender he painted for me on the Civic and he wants to repaint it.  He pointed out a flaw and said he would go ahead and fix and paint the bumper too.  I didn’t want to impose but he insists so we’ll do it.  We trade a lot of work and he’s a great guy.

Faxed off all the paperwork for the new job and scheduled the physical.  Start date is April 11.  Looking forward to starting.

Later,

May God bless

Jim

Anything but nice on the North Bluff,

Rain all day today then a chance of snow tonight. So I guess that locks my day to inside. Maybe I will do something in the train room.

It is still snowing like mad up north. Those guys are stuck. I am glad I call off on this trip. They were going to come home today but not now. Laugh

KRM - Solar panels are great to have on sailboats.  I actually have one that I use from time to time.  Unfortunately, it gets very windy on the bay in the winter, and thus the demise of a solar panel sitting 10-15 feet above ground.  But thanks.  All apart of spring commissioning, and I know that Doug and jonadel are living vicariously through my exploits.

Well I was just saying,,,,,,,,

Never thought about the wind thing but bet you could find a place to mount it where it could work. I hate letting battries go dead.

Not having a very good day here.

I got a love letter today from the state stating that they want me to pay them $474.00 and asking for stuff I have no idea on. Something about verifying a subtraction on line 5????? So Now got to get that figured out when Mark gets back.

I only have 30 days to reply or they will start hiking on interest. What could be next.

This is whats next.  I went and put the new filter on the fuel pump and turned it on and it shot fuel all over the shed walls and me. Ugh!

So I am doing laundry right now.  Bang Head   Bang Head

I just saw a map on CNN of the terminal showing the Starbucks and the bomb location - they are disturbingly close to one another.  Wow.

Evening all!

Heck of a storm last night. It hailed hard and long. The hail sliding/blowing off the roof looked like an avalanche. Piles of hail on ground did not finish melting until around 1 pm today. Hail shredded all the new growth off the trees. The hail was mostly the size of ice like you buy at Sonic (balls of ice about 3/8 inch in dia). Pretty cold and breezy today. Will have to pull out a ladder and go up and see what damage, if any, was wrought.

70 and sunny for tomorrow.

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Very good day at work.  Feet are finally starting to feel normal.   Daughter got an agreement finally signed by soon to be ex for the divorce.   All over but the shouting, hopefully.   Wife's sister got an offer on her house as well.   Won't be back at work until a week from next Tuesday.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello all

A quiet night on the mountain.

We heard today that our director is no longer the director, so changes may be coming to the organization. It may be a good time to be exiting stage left.

Jim S - congrats on the job. I'll try and remember to take the camera next time I go to work on the buses. Gene got some pics of me driving the '73 into the new barn so I'll see if I can get a hold of those.

Working on my buddy' G-scale open car trolley by Bachmann. It came w/ a pole for decorative purposes only and ran off track power. I am isolating the motor and will install a switch and pantograph so he can use it either on overhead or track power. Nice little unit w/ lots of good detail.

Morning all!  Had a brief snowstorm here in Chicago yesterday; nothing stuck, but I'm sure it was caused by my next door neighbor running his snowblower to empty the tank the day before.  Thus the reason I don't put mine away until after Derby Day.

I purchased a refurbished ZW-R off Da Bay this week, which I started to put through its paces yesterday.  Wife wasn't happy when I told her about it. Tried to convince her that my V didn't have the power to really drive everything on the layout (which is true) and didn't have a whistle control, making the purchase necessary - but it was an unconvincing argument.

Going to do some work this morning and then observe the time of The Passion this afternoon.  May all of faith have a blessed Easter this weekend (unless you are Orthodox, in which case you'll have to wait a few weeks)!

Todays high about 40, yesterday was near 60 but it rained and rained. The sump pump did it's job but must have run about every 60 seconds ALL day. Good Friday service at noon followed by a potluck lunch. That will be my meal for the day. Wild Bills is an empty store now, just showcases and shelving left. The large layout is also still there, everything but the track has been removed.

Good evening all on Good Friday.  It has taken me a while to get logged on.  Had to sign up like a new member or something.  Whatever I did, it finally worked.

It has been a rough week.  Wife has been bed ridden all week with her bad back.  I'm trying to get her into a convelescent hospital but medicare won't cover it unless you spend three days in a regular hospital first and then get transferred.  Thought we were going to make a move this morning but after waiting all day doctor said to keep her on the meds he prescribed until Monday and then they will run some lab test to see if she qualifies for admission.  Meanwhile, I'm in charge of the diaper brigade plus cooking etc.  I have been getting some paid help from a local agency and also from a lady friend of ours.  My two sons will be here this weekend so they will help me until Monday when paid help comes back.

We are having beautiful weather for Easter.  Sorry I'm going to miss it but I know I'm needed more here than at church this week.

Hope you all have a good one.
