Back home!!! AutomobileIt was a great trip.  I had supper with friends from Buckeyeland on Monday night in Lafayette, Indiana where I was born near the location of the old Wabash RR Station. On Tuesday was the Purdue Road School where I saw one of my classmates but heard the news that another had passed away.   Met people from my home town, Auburn, home of the Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg automobiles.  Had supper with two "kids" I was in Boy Scouts with. Saw a Bald Eagle sitting in the median on US 24 near Logansport, IN. Stopped at wife's cousin's hardware store. He wasn't there.  Lunch in Fort Wayne with a friend of 55 years who gives me free financial and legal advice. Visited my Mom.  Met with a client at a restaurant outside of Cabelas for a lunch of bluegills.

Good evening all,

Busy day, good day.  Spent 2.5 hours in meetings that were mostly productive.  Pain two never showed up today and pain one left at 1 PM so it was a quiet afternoon.  Picked my new "sticker reds" for the mini today and will start to break them in tomorrow.   Quiet night at home.  Buckeye, glad you had a good trip in Hoosierland.  "Real" racing starts this weekend.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Some sun this morning....50/60s all week.

Other than the club I really have not done any train things at all lately. Well now and then I do give something a few laps to keep things clean and make sure everything is working.

Don't  forget to spring forward at 2am Sunday morning.

Good morning.

A chilly 38 but heading to 56 with abundant sun. So could be worse. Mark and Mark came over yesterday and we went out for lunch at Sandie's tap and then came home to my place set up the range sited one gun in and shot a bunch of other guns then drank beer. I think Mark K wants my Henry Golden Boy 22LR. So I told him if he finds me a Henry Big Boy 357MAG I will pay him the difference it cost over the Golden boy. I already have an everyday 22LR and I had only shot the Golden Boy twice since I got it. It just hangs on the wall. So this way I will have a rifle that uses the same load as my S&W hand gun.

Guns are cleaned, lubed and put away. Boy the stainless steel S&W 357 is a PITA to clean.

So time to go to the bank.

Last train running was the night before last.

Have a good day.

Buckeye - Hey, 31 more extractions and you become an honorary Roseyville citizen...Laugh

Banks - Wifey was eyeing a pretty little house in Ellerslie, but way too close to Wills Creek for my liking.

Off to HD for more mulch, a little crack spackle, and maybe a posey or two.

Afternoon fellas

Been quite a ride here in MD. Finally got an offer from the new company yesterday, signed the deal today. Glad that is one thing that has been hanging over the house for over a year. Now to ride out the whole ADT thing.

My 10 year old propane grill rusted through last year, so been looking at grills for nearly 6 months. Talked with FiL a few weeks ago and showed him the ones I was looking at. New grill arrived yesterday. Really stoked because this thing is a beast (Weber Summit 620), of course the kids wanted tacos for dinner last night, so tonight is the new grill christening. Smile

Vacations are planned - taking the kids to Beaches Ocho Rios in June (over our 10 year anniversary). Looking forward to a week away and an excuse to disconnect. Then Ocean City for Christina's 5yr birthday. I have never driven across the Bay Bridge, so this is going to be new. Can't believe my little girl is going to be 5!!!!

Good afternoon from Sunny warm (70F) Southern Ohio,

Buckeye- Glad your trip went well, sounds like you had a good time.

Kev- The Golden Boy is a fine rifle, always wanted one.  Your swap sounds like a win -win.

JIm-Looks like the outside is good.  Are parts hard to come by?

Brent- Neat grill!  Our burners are rusted away, I’m going to try the rebuild route first.

It’s been a busy day.  Led Stations of the Cross and Divine Mercy Chaplet at the Elementary , then up to the High School where I subbed for an absent teacher and had one Senior Math class, and two 7th grade science classes.  Came home and had a phone interview for an Industrial Trainer’s position, very close to where I used to work, doing training similar to what I’ve taught before.  I have a good feeling about how the phone interview went.  They said I was qualified and experienced, so we’ll see.  Later this evening I’ll be going to lead Stations again at a nearby parish.  Whew.

Going to rest a bit before time to go and get stuff ready.

May God Bless

JIm

Phish, The problem for me and the Golden Boy is it is such a beauty of a piece I would never take it off the wall to use it for fear of marking it up. They are hard to beat when it comes to a good looking firearm but I don't need a wall hanger.

Good evening all,

Good day at work.  Pain one was gone and pain two was quiet.  Got a lot done.  Made some unexpected progress in one area.   Took my new "sticker reds" out for a break-in walk.  As I told my daughter today,"I have good grip down the straightaways, but I picked up a bit of a push in the turns.  I think I need a wing adjustment."   Watched Grimm and Blue Bloods tonight.   AJ's team had good practices today with both cars in top 8.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there,

Seafood Buffet went well last evening. I didn't hear a count but I'm guessing it was around 750. There are four fryers and from 330 till 630.at least one was full

dogs got me awake to go out. Had some guys working near 12KV at 11.30 last night so I went to make sure they were safe. Got to bed around 1am.

A friend of Mrs won tickets to Barry Manilow at the Jordan Center tonight. We'll be leaving around 5. The Altoona show is tomorrow. Plan on being there after Mass when they open at 9 Then St Patrick's day pot luck at church. They supply the corned beef and cabbage.
between all that and spring forward not much sleep this weekend

Good luck to all on your projects I best get this day started.

Prayers for those in need

Aloha. Looks like spring has sprung. I am trying to avoid the craziness that makes this St. Paddy's Day Weekend in downtown Chicago. Sorry about the tooth, Buckeye. I like visiting Auburn. Glad you're OK with the job, Brent. Your vacay plans sound good. Fife, I'm trying to convince the local authorities to bring out the sailboats on the local lake. They have all the boats for fishing out already - they think the water is too cold. . .  Thanks for the DST reminder SJ! Hope you get that job, Jim. Kev, that does seem on the high side for trucking that gravel. Especially since there are pits all over the place (at least up here). Enjoy the concert, Banks - I saw him in Chicago a few years ago - he puts on a good show.

Very slow here today.

Dennis almost everyone here has at least one wall hanger gun. Easy to get to when needed.

JimmyT go for it.

Got a question today about the equipment and attachments that my two neighbors and I have. Was surprised when I counted them up.

We all worked our grapples today cleaning up down stuff and stoking the burn pile. It was cloudy but hit 60. Good working weather.

We are doing good on attachments and equipment for the three of us here on The North Bluff..
Hers is the list I came up with, bet I forgot something.

3) snow plows
3) grapples
4) tractors
1) Bobcat T190
2) 72" finishing mowers
1) 5' bush hog
1) 3-point back hoe\
1) SSQA back hoe
1) box blade
1) 60" scraper grader
1) post hole digger.
1) ballast box
2) tractor front end loaders
1) stump grinder
2) log splitters one stand alone pull behind and one SSQA model.
3) Riding mowers
1) self-propelled walk behind mower.
1) log lifting boom
1) 2" receiver for moving trailers.
2) dump trailers. One pull behind and one goose neck
3) pick-up trucks. 2 diesel and one gas
1) yard roller
2) Broadcast seeders.
2) pallet forks.

2) car haulers. one 16' and one 18'

1) six foot disc

1) six foot drag

1) six foot 3-point rake.

1) Polaris 6x6

1) Gator CX

1) golf cart

Yes I did not even think of shop equipment. But it is a huge list all it's own.

Jim, next door is the king of toys/tools here. 58 years old and single most of his life lets you get a lot

Evening all been a good day. moved some Garage sale items around ( IE trains) I now have a table 2' wide and 8' long filled one end to the other with trains for sale including a brand new starter type set still in shrink wrap and shipping box. Put up mode shelves but need to make a decision do I make the next two tight ( 4 3/4" high ( I have a area of 15" total between the upper shelf and the lower shelf where I need to fit this in or do I eliminate one and just put on at about the 7 1/2" area ) I'm leaning towards the 7 1/2" one but will make a big spread where the others are about 5" - 6" between them. Didn't plan it this way had one right above door and when I worked around the room from the other side to keep them all in line this is how it worked out.

Went to put my NYC passenger set up and I have one car more than will fit up there lol. and thats using the SD-80 instead of the PA1&PB1 set. put them one shelf down and with the cars I put behind them that train is wall to wall ( 11') My ceiling in here are just shy of 10'

Not much else going on here. Hope all had a good Saturday and Sunday is even better

Good evening all,

Not the best day.  Did 11 miles, but really faded after the 2 hour mark.  Did 7.2+ in the first two hours.  Finished the 11 in 3:12:56, not very good at all.  Think I will bring granola bars next time as I was starving out the last hour.  Good news was that my blood sugar was 107 after the walk.  New shoes worked well.  AJ's team starts 10 and 11 tomorrow.  Both county schools lost in regionals today.  Doug, nice picture of the lassies for St. Pat's day!  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 52 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Gonna drop middle princess off at Penn Station for her overnighter to Philly.  Got a little light sanding and a coat of high-hiding white to apply, and fifedom will be pretty much ready to show.  Steaks on the grill tonight.

Another busy week, with only time to lurk on the forum.

Neat pictures of the green Chicago river.  I was near there the week before last, roughly at the corner of Michigan Ave. and the river.

We did get to the World's Greatest Hobby train show in Kansas City last Sunday.  Before we left, my wife gave me the usual caution about getting more train stuff.  Turns ou that she was the one who baught things - 3 G scale circus train cars.  Now we've got more G scale train than track!  I didn't see anything that I had to have.

The show was well attended, lots of families and young kids.  The show was about 1/2 layouts and 1/2 vendors.

The high school robot team I've been working with went to their first meet this week in Kansas City.  We got out to watch them in the last of the qualification rounds.  They ended up in the #6 seed alliance in the finals.  They were knocked out in the quarter finals by the alliance that eventually placed 2nd.

In this meet, the top 8 qualifying teams got to pick two other teams each out of the 60 or so teams that were there to form an alliance for the playoffs.

All for now.

47 heading to 60 on the North Bluff. Cloudy. The rain has ended. I hope the roads dry up some before I see the doctor this afternoon at 3:40pm for this arm pain. I think it is rotor cuff issue. Don't think I helped it much because I washed and waxed the truck yesterday because there was not much else I could do with the rain. Paying now. Sump-pump is doing it's thing about ever 40 minutes. Lots of moisture in the ground from all the rain we had before the frost hit.

V8 I was wondering about that under cover beam on your car.

Good morning all,

As if I didn't have enough on my plate already, my wife now has another problem.  She injured her back somehow last week but I was not present when it happened so we don't know.  Got some pain meds from the doctor who was out of town.  It was worse Saturday so I took her to the ER.  The good news is there are no broken bones or pelvis.  The bad news is that she has degenerative disc disease. Two of her spinal disc are pinching and causing pain.  Does pretty well when sitting but has excruciating pain when she first gets up.  She could not even walk before we went to ER.  I have a call in now for the primary doctor to follow up.  Also need to get some in home care.  I think this would qualify for insurance or medicare as opposed to just plain home care.   Need to check it out.  She needs some nursing IMO and baths etc.  I can manage the medicine.  She is resting now in bed after a morning pain pill and breakfast.  Thanks for letting me bend your ear.  Hoping for a better tomorrow.

Ray
