Good evening all,

Slow day on the pot today.  Did 10 miles in 2:49:41 which is a 16:58 minute mile average and a little over 3.5 MPH.  Did an extra half mile in 10 minutes on my slow down laps.   Did most of my breathing thru my nose which kept the mouth from drying out and reduced water stops.   Wife and I also went to see high school choral groups perform.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hello all

Nice day here in the Ol' Pueblo. Slept in and it felt good.

Helped a friend get the back seats out of his Rav4. He latched them on the wrong hook and they were stuck. The service writers @ Toyota had no luck and he was about to take it in to an independent mechanic. W/ two people and a screwdriver/pry bar in the right places we got them out and latched back in correctly. Bad design, too many pull levers and loops. I could easily see how someone could get confused.

Then installed the new ignition module in the Datsun. Fired right up and went over to Bill's and installed the new plate on the bumper (last owner had it on the tailgate). We also pounded out the bad race from one of the rear bearing hubs on the 4dr Corvair and installed a new one. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon we can pack the bearings and assemble both hubs. After that the car will pretty much be ready to sell (after we install the bearing units that is:).

Yesterday we got the '89 RTS bus closer to running, but no cookies. Changed out both fuel filters as there was some nasty stuff in there. Maybe it is also in the injectors. Going to talk to a friend of mine who works on the current bus fleet about it. We replaced the air pressure regulator for the suspension system on the '73 GM 'fishbowl' bus and finally got air into the tank and in the system. But....both the front air bags are fairly dried out and are leaking. They will need to be rebuilt or replaced. At least we now know what it needs.

The auto museum we went to was pretty cool. About 50 cars in a private collection. Good variety and some very nice cars. And riding in the '38 Yellow Coach bus was awesome. Runs very nice.

Good morning,
51, cloudy heading to 58 Chance of rain and 60s next four days. Thinking of removing the chains from the tractor but still early. I took off the snow plow yesterday and put the bucket on for pothole filling. I wish some of these neighbors would slow down some.

Bob, sounds like you had a good weekend.

That was some long train SJ. Wonder how much money was there with all those cars and engines. Surprise BTW did you say you got one of those new Lionel PS-1 Boxcars with sound??

Buckeye stay safe on those travels.

Aloha. Beautiful weather temps-wise. Might rain a bit but I'll take it over the white stuff. That's quite a workbench, Roy!  Thanks for the video, SJ. Buckeye, going to visit the Auburn museum?

Good morning all, woke up to sound of heavy rain on the roof. Tapering off a little now but it is welcome relief for the drought stricken part of California.

Got new message about my brother in Va.  Did not go home from the hospital yesterday.  Lung doctor now says he has COPD and his oxygen level is still too low unassisted.  They are setting him up with oxygen concentrator at home probably today and then he can go home unless there are more complications.  Don't know yet if he will be on O2 24/7 or just for sleeping.  If it is 24/7 that will really be a game changer since he likes to hunt and fish a lot.  He could probably manage fishing if he has a portable oxygen concentrator but it's too early to think about those things.  I have COPD too but I only need oxygen for sleeping.  Hope his is the same.

Good Morning from Sunny 40F Southern Ohio

Started cleaning up the Civic, washed and waxed, motor detailed and interior detailed.  Getting new tires and a alignment.  The tires are cracked from old age and not worth the risk.  Changed the oil in it yesterday.

Spank- The transition sounds like a lot of work; you should be proud!

Bob- Good job on the Datsun

Buckeye-Be careful out there.  There are some really crazy drivers!

May God bless

Sun today, 50s all week. I can work with that. Spring forward on Sunday.

Kevin the boxcar w/sound is a preorder from the 2016 catalog. I don't have it yet. Yes you are right those 5 engines had to be worth big $$$plus the sound reefers and boxcars. And 5 cabooses, 1 for each engine.lol, those are not cheap either.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 53 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Working on Fifedom's curb appeal.  15 sacks of red cedar mulch spread out yesterday.  A little white-wash today, and sprucing up the garage, inside and out.  Normally, I'd be using this gorgeous weather to work on the yatchet....Sigh

Morning all!

Huge storm headed for us in next 30 min. Kev - we'll wave as we blow by. Easterners - sending it your way soon.

SJ - you are going to like the sound boxcar. My buddy has one he was running at the train show in Jan. I like the rail joint and rail squeal sounds.

Ray - Angel for your brother.

Fife - I am taking my boat in next week to get an exhaust manifold gasket replaced. I guess the yachet doesn't have an exhaust manifold. Oh wait!, I guess the "head" requires one...Whistling

Aloha. As Kev says, it is supposed to get even warmer today - yay!  I had a good day yesterday - I walked over to sneak up the clock tower of the old Dearborn station. It has a fine view north. I'm always struck by how small the station is - it must've bustled when the Super Chief was ready to leave.

Fife, I'll be right over to help clean the yachet.

Today I had a new rail commuting experience (which I have never had in 27 years or about 621,000 miles.) Our scoot was flying along at our sanctioned 59 mph when I heard the 'Bang' of the brakes going into emergency. It takes a 9 car train a long time to stop. Then I heard 3 short horn blasts and thought we're backing up - maybe a train in front of us hit something. Then I realized the engineer missed a station stop. We slid into the platforms, loaded everyone up and off we went again without a word. I wonder if the dispatcher in Omaha noticed. Smile

Well I did the Core aeration on the yard around the house and a re-seed job to. Hope it is not to early but thought I may as well before it rains. So now the yard looks like it is covered with Dog Do do. Laugh Thinking I should go get some lime for it to. Got to get the PH down some.

Doug, that is funny. Oops!

Roy - Yanmar 1-lunger.  Head is one of those Jabsco jobs, but the rule is, you use it, you pump it out.  Haven't had any takers in 6 years.

Sorry Roy, big high pressure pushing it to the north of us.  Hope you are OK.

Sunny and 64 degrees.  Going to 80 today.  No rain!!!

Prune grape vines [a month behind on that one].  Errands and then slip into the pond property later this afternoon.  Some "guys" [hoodlums from top of the hill] tried to fish yesterday afternoon while Fred was there.  Told them to leave and they sassed him.  I'll take care of them.

Hope all are OK.

Good afternoon from sunny warm (70F) Southern Ohio,

Went to school and assisted at Mass, then picked up a pint of paint to paint the fender on the Civic. $50 for a pint!  Washed the truck then trimmed some low hanging limbs.  I told the bride I'd dust and sweep before the troops get home so this is going to be quick.

Fife-Add in a travel stipend and I'm on my way to help.

Good news, my brother in Virginia is home from the hospital now and does not require oxygen at home.  He made a dramatic recovery of blood oxygen level on the last day so they let him go.  He still has a lot of kidney stones but are not bothering him yet.

New Gold Line light rail is open now but parking is a problem.  Station near us only has 200 spots and they were all taken by 7:00AM.  If you want to ride in the middle of the day, good luck on finding a parking place.  City needs to start a shuttle.

later,

Ray

Morning all hope all are doing good this am. 56* at present going up to 81* today. Got lots going on here to keep me busy for a while. ( train wise) have some parts coming intoday then just made a good size order with Jeff Kane last night so thats going to be a good bit of stuff so I can fix 3 engines and a few other things. Waiting to see if they got the parts in to repair my truck. Thats going to be about $600 but better than what I was expecting as it turned out I didn't need a part I was told I did. Was expecting $1000 so kinda happy with that but want it fixed before I goto York next month.

Talk to you all later have a good day all. One day till TGIF

Good Morning from wet and mild (50F) Southern Ohio,

Ray-Praise God for your brother's recovery!

Well I bought an Acer Chrome book and using it now.  It seems to do what I want as I'm learning my way around it.  Still trying how to figure how to save and open from a thumbdrive as I prefer storing off the computer.

I have a phone interview Friday afternoon for an Instructor job in a different section of the plant where I workedI'm going to prep for the interview reviewing their process.  It would be very similar to what I did a few years back.

Also I'm going to be a substitute teacher at the Elementry School.  That should be interesting.  Smile

May God bless

Good morning, Cloudy 48 heading to 54
Had a guy come out yesterday to do a quote on 700' of our lane. My part. It has not been added to for 8 years and could use about 3" over the top. The guy next door has a Gooseneck dump and we do most of the lane together up to my part. But at 6 ton a load it takes a long time and it does not tailgate well. . The closest pit is 21 miles away so we are lucky to get in three loads in the morning before he leaves for work at noon. Two years ago we put down 29 loads, took weeks. So I thought I would just get mine out to quote to see how much it will be. Would be nice to just have it tailgated where all I would have to do is clean it up with the grader.
Don't know yet got to get the quote but at $9.00 a ton for delivery I am not to keen on it. That much made sense when diesel was over $4.00 a gallon but not now at $2.00. CA 6 Gravel is $6.50 a ton. Trucking should be no more.

Yeow! Bet that makes for a scramble when you get back to shore!

Been raining here the last 3 days and it has been good soaking rain. 2.5 in at my house so far. Supposed to continue for another couple of days.
