Good evening all,

Good day at work.  Some days almost make it worthwhile to come to work.  This was one of those days.   Pain two was complaining about a change that occurred and made plans on how to cope with it.  Little does that person know that those plans are totally useless and that person will find that out tomorrow.  Could be interesting to see the reaction....heh, heh, heh.   Indoor soccer was called off tonight due to basketball sectional.  Did get my ears lowered.   Wonder if anyone will notice....doubt it.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 29 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  S'posed to snohizo overnight.  Realtor sign was planted in front yard late afternoon.  Kept tabs this morning, and between 0700-0800 hrs, 4 vehicles slowed down, and 1 stopped.

Good morning,

31 degrees heading to 34.   About 2.5" of wet white stuff on the ground today when I got up. Wife skipped work. I did the sidewalk but I am not going to bother with the lane. It will be gone tomorrow.

Phish your right. seems the newest game is car to car shootings. Then the cops have to tie up traffic for hours to pick up shell casings. Tongue Tied

Good morning from cool (30F) overcast Southern Ohio

Cleaned out the freezer this morning because we're getting 1/2 a beef Saturday. The frozen food is in coolers outside so I'll be in good shape to get the defrosting done.  Meeting with the financial advisor showing them the retirement options we've got, a lot of decisions and I know when to seek advice.

Speaking of advice, I'm not really crazy about the MacBook Pro Laptop.  Or maybe it is just the Mac format, but I'm thinking about a Kindle fire and I do not know anything about them.  I need primarily a word processor, something to handle email and posting pictures here on the forum.  Would a Kindle be the way to go or is there a better option?

Need to start defrosting!

May God bless

Jim

Just checking in.

Overcast and 32 for today.

Ground is still covered with a little snow but the pavement is clear and dry. No news from the train store, guess I should check on them.

Jim,
I would stear clear of tablets (that is what the Fire is) for what your requirements are. I would look at a ChromeBook if I were you. Or a Windows Laptop with a 15 inch screen.

You'll find working with files to be difficult on a tablet, and quite honestly - this forum is not very 'mobile device' friendly. I don't like browsing the site on either of my Galaxy Tabs, and hate browsing on my phone. And this edit box blows chunks on a full featured browser, can't imagine what it is like on a mobile device!

Hey guys look at these pictures and tell me Jordan is not a MiniMe????
The black and whites are me at the same age as Jordan is now.  Is it me? Or  do you see a carbon copy????
Tomorrow I will pick him up at 9:00am and will have him till Saturday afternoon. We got to get deer corn and stuff to do a oil change on the tractor. I am sure we will have fun. And as far as naps, we will both take them at the same time.   Sleep

Hello there,

checking in while thinking on goin t bed.

Talked to a couple of people at the home today. They're planning to kick her out on Tuesday. Not as long as I'd hoped but better than tomorrow. She seems better than she was but not back to normal. Maybe this is as good as it gets. I need to look at some other options for keeping up with her. It's running Mrs and I down. She is in to good of shape for nursing care and has to many resources to get assistance with personal care. I'm told that if her money runs out while in personal care I may come home one day and find her waiting on me

Fife. ......you do live in a nice area. Reminds me of Bethel Park, near Pittsburgh, where my cousin lived. Good luck on the sale

88 I've gone to Monroeville fairly regularly until recently. The show really went downhill when they moved to the convention center.  Did you ever go to the Kittanning show?

best move on Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,

A good day at work.  Got more done than planned.   Pain two was not there at all today and pain one might be gone tomorrow.   Did get some news today, some of it expected, some not.   The girls' assistant coach is retiring after almost 15 years of service to the team.  Her younger daughter had her senior year this past season so it was not unexpected.  A good friend of mine learned her husband lost his job this week so that was not good either.   Wife and I went to see "Eddie the Eagle" tonight.  Good movie.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Spanky, great looking young man.

Go test the Lionel NS diesel they repaired under warranty which was out two years ago.  Great customer service.

Suppose to be "off" today.  Need to hide phone.  Ringing and ringing.

Have a great weekend.

Afternoon fellas

Banks - no never went to the Kittanning show. Did go to the one out near Irwin at the Greensburg Mall? once. Was nice, medium sized, show. Also went to a few local shows in the Cranberry/Butler area. That is where I picked up my 681.

Which convention center did they move the Monroeville show to? It used to be at the Expo Center next to the Mall.

Good afternoon all,

Brother is still in the hospital in Virginia.  Blood oxygen level is still too low to go home without oxygen.  Being treated for Pneumonia and kidney stones.  They have ruled out COPD or Emphasema.  That's good.  Appetite is better today.

New Gold Line light rail system opens tomorrow near us.  Free rides all day and festivities at 6 new stations.  My two sons will ride it but I will probably take a rain check until later.  Trying to avoid crowds and first day problems.  I don't want to get stuck downtown and have to wait a long time to get back home.

Got a note from a lady at church who has offered any kind of help we need at home free of charge.  Yes, there are still some good people left in the world.  Told her I would call if we need her but I will insist that she let us pay at least something for her services.  Made my day.

Took wife to day care facility yesterday for her weekly visit.  Would do more days if I didn't have to do so much driving.  Wish we had one close to home.

Chief, get well!

later,

Ray

Chilly 41.  NS Lionel Legacy engine that Lionel repaired with smoke you out of the train box.  Never had a Lionel engine smoke that good.  Runs great.  Headlights work.

Evening all!

I am glad another very busy week has come to an end.

Another day with sun and 70. Nice breeze. Rain for the weekend. Still 10 degrees above normal. Hope we do not pay a price for it this summer.

Still working on garage cleanup. Cleaning areas that have not been touched for over 20 years. Patching, repairing, and repainting wall sections as I go.

Dennis - good to know about the Chromebook.

Phish - glad the retirement plans are moving forward.

Chief - get well!

DJ - 13, I remember those days, not fondly...now at 22, he is a pleasure

Fife - good luck on the sale!

Kev - have you tested the grapple yet? Maybe on the youngun's diapers?

Regards, Roy

Busy week.  Unexpected trip to Chicago on Wednesday and Thursday - 7 or 8 hours drive each way for about 1/2 hour meeting.  This trip didn't help me shake the cold I've been fighting for the last week or so.

The old church that downtow we are members of burned down Wednesday night.  Spent a little time at lunch today saying goodby while watching the (unstable) stone walls being knocked down.  That church was built in 1888.  Was in the romanesque style in white limestone.  Our church built a new building on the edge of town about 15 years ago, and has been running traditional services in the downtown building and contemporary services in the new building, so losing the downtown building is sad, but not a great tragedy.

Too soon to know what will be done.  The downtown church was busy.  It was used as a meeting place for another congregation, a location for scout meetings, AA meetings, wedings, batisems, etc., etc. I see this as an opportunity to build a building with a chapel, a couple of meeting rooms, and maybe a kitchen, to continue supporting these sorts of activities.  Would be neat to salvage some of the stone and use it in a new building.

Planning on working at the museum tomorrow taking down the toy train exhibit that has been up for about 2 years.  Probalby going to do some maintenance on the display cases as well.  On Sunday, I hope to get to the train show in Kansas City.

All for now.

Hello all

Long day, but a nice day here in the Ol' Pueblo.

Got the Datsun registered today. At one point both vehicles had issues and basically managed to fix them both. Datsun decided it wanted a new ignition module, so it will be in tomorrow. Gotta be one of the cheapest and easist to replace. The horn relay shorted out on the Corvan and melted the power wire to it. Taped it off for the time being, I didn't have a horn button anyway:) Found out why the gas gauge doesn't work. I musta pulled the wires out when I replaced the speedo cable. And I got all the turn signals and dash lights to work, yee ha!

Kev - he is the spitting image of you

Phish - I second the Chromebook. I bought on as a temporary computer and that was 3 years ago!

More work on the busses tomorrow, after we check out a new auto museum. Get to ride in the restored '38 bus. Will also look into what kind of space they are willing to give me in the new place.

Then pick up the module and see if I can get the Datsun running consistently again. Oh, somebody had fastened the old one in w/ drywall screws! Nuts. It wasn't the pack rats that caused the electrical issues w/ this truck, it was the humans!

Hello there,

waiting on Mrs to get awake before starting the day. 750 was the count served fish last evening. The weather was so so but the free money came out last week. That usually makes our number higher.

Lots to do at home this weekend. Supposed to have all 4 grandkids this evening. That will be interesting.

Little dog spent the day at the vet yesterday. $206 later he came home minus 2 teeth and his shots up to date.    88.....they built a convention center about a block from the expo center . It's nice but they took a lot of the expo center parking. If there is an event at both places you'd best have your walking shoes on I went to several of the shows in Greensburg. I think they were Great American Train Show.

Phish. ...I bought a Toshiba laptop for less than  $200. The only thing I don't like about it is Win 8. IT guys at work put our machines on 10 and made them work very similar to 7. I'm going to ask one of them to do the same to my laptop. Dang font thing is all screwed up. Best get the day started.

Prayers for those in need

Good morning,

Jordan just got me up. Little does he know how hard it is to sleep with him. I already need a nap.

Watching cartoon and when wife gets up I will make breakfast. Jordan already polished off a bowl of Rice Krispies.

Then after we have lunch and his nap we will be heading to a birthday party for Rocco the 3 year old cousin. Then we will swap Jordan for Lexi.

I got to catch up later.

Roy, Yes Jordan and I went up the lane last weekend and grabed a down 25' tree trunk that I had pushed to the side of the lane when it fell. It picked it right up and we worked are way up the lane and put it on the neighbord burn pile. Yes

Chief, yeah they are a lot of work but they are only young for a very short time. Smile, Wink & GrinAnd you only have a little time to mold them.

I don't have that many issues with this softwear other than the spell check don't work. What are you using for it a phone?

You guys have a good day.

Morning.  Partly cloudy and chilly [43].  Not much on tap for the day.  May tinker in the Train Box.  Add some lighting.  Got the fixtures from old train room.

KEV, no.  PC with Windows 10.  Does it on table and smart phone too.  Quirky things.  Next time you use it, that problem OK.  Then a new one will happen or the old one comes back.  Not consistant.  Understandably, that makes it hard to get an IT person to fix.

All have a great weekend.

That is strange Chief. I don't have many problems at all and I am on a Laptop with windows 10 and Firefox. Never even tried the Windows 10 IE browser.

Bob, I just thought that those two pictures were cool. Took 60 years apart. One by my mom who passed when I was 6 and the other by our daughter. They both put the same kind of hats on both of us. Weird. Katherine looks a lot like my mom did. Confused

The kid is sleeping. After his nap we will be heading to a birthday party for Rocco the 3 year old cousin. Then we will do the swap Jordan for Lexi.

Here is what we did today after I posted when we were waiting for grand-ma to get up. Wink

Good evening all,

Went to Indy today to TCA meet.  Hardly anybody there.  Did get a DC can motor to replace one that I fried.   Mixed luck on rest of searches.   Got what I needed for lights from Menards, but had no luck at Barnes and Noble or Carrhart store.  Was kind of interesting seeing a vinyl Led Zeppelin IV album at B&N.   Ran trains for several hours tonight.  Mostly went well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
