Like with Doug, the high for the day was around 12:01 AM, 61. Now it is 50 with rain and temps dropping all day. I touched up the lane between rain drops and removed the grader from the tractor. May wait a few more days before putting the plow back on. No snow in the forecast. We had a busy weekend here. Got the tree up and wife and grand-daughter decorated it. After the grand-kids left I blew out, vacuumed and cleaned refrigerator coils and cleaned the floor around the bottom of it. Hate that job but has to be done.
RT sounds like your keeping busy with the trains, good for you. I have a few projects going in various stages of completion. Love my 736.
Enjoy the day.

Good Morning from wet Southern Ohio
Had agreat but busy weekend. Never got a chance to swing by the Pot. Finally got the Christmas decorating done last night. We'll put a simple loop of track around the tree, and call it done. Grandson has a ballgame this evening and oldest grandaughter has swim practice. Never a dull moment!
SJ- Congrats on passing the stress test
Doug-The truck tree is special for us and makes me smile when I look at it. This year's truck is going to be one of my favorites
Chief-Prayers for the child's family, and the responders. Finding the people especially kids who have died in a house fire can be traumatic for the responders.
Don-Sounds like you are going to get a mega train fix over the next few weeks. Too bad you don't have an "S" layout.
Buckey-That your grandson ran the trains and showed others how to use the controllers would be a great way to sell trains and the hobby. I'm sure you've helped Moutain Lakes Trains' bottom line.
TinPlate-Sounds like a win-win
May God bless
Jim
Morning all not a lot planned for today other than work around the house. Got two engines that came in dead running last night. First a # 41 ( got 2 in one worked still need to take that one apart clean and relube/oil and put back together ) it was shorting well sparking some and wouldn't even try to do anything so took apart did the cleaning and relub/oil Put back together and it ran slowly at first but then like a champ, then about 2 weeks ago I got in a 2033 that wouldn't even make a sound I saw a loose wire but didn't really pay attention where it went so figured I needed to get the missing screw to put it back so it could ground and it might work so put it aside last night looked at it again and noticed it was to the horn relay not the engine part itself so time for take apart clean, relube/oil, and reassembling and it also started showing life and now runs needs a layout to strech it's bones I would say after about 20 - 40 years of sitting but it did come alive. Next I have to look at a couple of Whistle tenders but need to get some wiring first which I have is stranded but to stiff and thich to use its 14 gauge I need like 16 or 18 I think. I have some 22 but thats to thin for my liken. Got one Whistle tender in and looks like someone tried to rewire themselves and gave up when it came to attaching wire to middle pick-up as they also had to big of wire so the cut the wire and put duck tape on it inside the shell lol. The other I haven't opened yot butappears to have the whistle is in there but no wires coming out but appears to have binding wire holding it in place so that may be interesting lol. Well thats one less to worry about took shell off it's a surprise, surprise, surprise as gomer would say ( wasn't sold as a whistle tender so not out anything) it has an old tire balancing weight in there a big one about 4" long. lol. Oh well no lost there. I do have a 1689WX I need to look at also I just know will need to be rewired being as old as it is so I do have my prodjects coming.
Won a train set or should say a set of trains last night (untill I research and find out if it's a actual set) with a 736, 2671W, 2555, 6464-50, 3469 ( green bin ) , and 6457 caboose, RW transformer and some track. in fair condition so thats not a bad haul
Well hope all are doing well

Well, I finally can move forward again, as back in town. I also sold my HO trains, 14 boxes full. The good news, though, is that that was only about 30% of everything I have, so some new tinplate will be coming into the house when I get the chance.
Aloha. Wet and warm this morn - hit a new high for this date of 61. Though it's supposed to slowly cool down again then warm up next week. No white Christmas in sight. Hurrah!
Worked as video director at church this weekend; watched Man U and the Bears lose. I'll be taking a few vacation days this week (but still responding to emails, etc in the new-way-of-work. . . Thanks for the heads-up about that sweet video, SJ.

Evening all,
We got around an inch of rain last night. With the soaked ground we had a lake this morning in most of our back yard. It's all good.
Well we needed da Bears to beat the 'skins and somewhat hoped the C'Boys could pull out a miracle against the Pack (ha!). So now this season is done.
Regearing project has gone well so far.
Regards, Roy
Good Evening
People showed up here for an operating session...6 of us...had three things go worgn...not bad...for now.

Good evening all,
Got track set up around tree. Wife is happy as she "won" a silent auction for a Christmas tree as part of a fundraiser. Got to see Newcastle United upset Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on a last minute goal. Watched it on Telemundo. Starting to understand more of what they say. Weather still warm. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

8ntruck Kev - To wire the motor on your B-unit to operate off a tether from the A-unit, you will need 3 wires, one for the field, and the other 2 for the brushes. Ground will be taken care of by the wheels and chassis. If the motors don't run in the same direction, swap the wires on the brushes. The e-unit takes care of the rest. Since I build an A-B-A setup, I got some plugs and sockets from Digi-Key to make the connections between the different units. This gives me the choice of a 2 motor A-A, 3 motor A-B, or a 4 motor A-B-A. All for now.

8N, This helps a lot. This is going to be a fun project,
Rainy and high-50's today. Been raining since about midnight here to. But for Dec 13, works for me. Just dropped off the kids so now I can kick back and relax some.
PM sent 8N, Thanks.
Rainy and mid-50's today. Been raining since about midnight.
Got the Polar Express layout set up at the KATY museum yesterday. Just a few people through the museum to see it. This was a short notice arrangement, so the advertising that the layout was there was not very good. I'll be running it next Saturday too. Maybe turnout will be better.
Good afternoon. Still alive but these two are a handfull.
Got to agree with some of you. Before long man will need to know nothing to get along. Take the new ford pick-up that backs up the trailer for you. Really ???Kids are still here but the little guy is taking a much needed nap. Da Bears stink so maybe their dad will get tired of the pain of watching and come get them soon.8N I will be sending you something later if I can get back to the computer. I tested the motor and it is fine. I was thinking of a teather to feed the power from the 218 E-unit to the B-unit motor.
sir james I When you see a 3 year old place his Thomas engine on the track and run it right along with the rest of us legacy adults, I say Lionel that's great progress. Fog has lifted but everything is wet as rain. 54 degrees this mornng. S.J.

SJ.... During late August, my grandson and I went to Mountain Lakes Trains in NJ where they had two loops of track with two Lionel Plus locomotives. My grandson told the nice lady that he had "ran a controler like that before" and she gave it to him. Within seconds the train was running, whistling, talking and the bell was ringing. About ten minutes later a family arrived and the son was shown how to run the controler.....by my grandson. They spent the next 15-20 minutes running trains and talking about the cars they liked and so on and so forth.
Needless to say, merchandise for my birthday always comes from Mountain Lakes Trains. I wonder why????

JTrains So, two funny train things this past week: I was singing along to the theme from Chuggington, the first line of which (for those without young children) is “We’re trainees, we’re makin’ tracks.” My wife comes in and says, “Did you just sing “We’re Chinese and makin’ track”? I chuckled to myself, as I think that would perfectly describe Lionel’s oversees manufacturing team, no? I recently bought a needle bottle to use for oiling in place of the big Lionel plastic tubes with their associated large tips. So, I turned the Lionel tube of oil over to transfer some into the new bottle and gave the bottle a squeeze to accelerate the process. “Crack!” goes the 20YO tube, sending oil all over my face, workbench, clothes, and anything else in a 3 foot radius. I immediately thought to myself, “How many times has ServoGuy warned us about using that Lionel oil instead of motor oil?”
So, two funny train things this past week:
Sounds like the start of the Central Pacific, too. "We're Chinese and making track"... That brings to mind the French phrase (probably spelled wrong) mort de rire
SevroGuy didn't squeeze the container, you did.

Got a foggy day with little tiny drizzle bits in it..and a high of 56.
Getting ready to go to church and committee meetings after...
Have a great day!!!
Morning, (fell asleep as I was doing the last post.)
RT and Buckeye, I think you are both correct, and old foggeys like me need to just get a life, and move on. Lionel is only responding to try to capture some market and deserve credit for that, U was surprised that the store representative didn't have a better understanding about the differance between the Lion Chief and Lion Chief +. Maybe he too was a novice and just filling in on a temporary basis.
Don
Don,Buckeye take a good look at Charlie Ro in latest CTT and other avertisers and Lionel's catalog you get the feeling there shoving Lion Chief down your Throat. Enough said
Morning all not a lot going on yet it's going to be tree day. So Need to get some breakfast in me. Hope all having a good week-end talk to you all later.
Chief.....Wow, I know that is a rough day for you, your fire department and your police department. Does you State Fire Marshell assist in the investigation?
Don..... I have two LionChief Plus engines. One thing everyone must remember, there is a complete lack of basic technical education, i.e., wood shop, in this country and wiring a train and transformer has become a challenge mystery to many. This is also the background for Lionel's plug and play accessory system. In other words, Lionel is just catering to the dummying down of America and embracing new technologies that are available. That being said, my two grandsons can run the LionChief system without much effort or training, in somewhat the same manner they run remote control cars and trucks. Conventional control has been dying and Lionel just put a nail in the coffin unleashing a great new system for their entry and intermediate level products.
Last spring this is what running a LionChief and a TMCC locomotive looked like on my layout. I'm running the TMCC while the grandson, out of the picture ran the LionChief.
Good Evening, I thought I had this retirement thing figured out, wrong! In the last 10 days I have done what I want to do on ONLY 2 or 3 of them! That is wrong! Simply wrong! (Today was spent installing a ceiling fan/light/heater in MIL's bathroom. Need to finish wiring tomorrow.)
blownout cylinder Good Afternoon.. Don: I am kind of surprised myself about Lionel. I really would like to see the reasoning there.
Good Afternoon..
Don: I am kind of surprised myself about Lionel. I really would like to see the reasoning there.
When Lion Chief and Lion Chief + came out and I found out that they were not Legacy compatible, (I dont mean features, just being able to use them with the Cab 1 or Cab 2 remotes, I lost all interest in them.) I just considered them to be an entry level product and let it go at that. But it bugged me when a Hobby Shop told LLoyd that it was, and it really isn't, Tha really bothers me, if he didn't know the differance. As SJ and RT pointed the "+" is conventional, but it is a little more expensive. So its their gamexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxb ball, and I'm sure they are going where they think they can get the money.
Had some other things to comment on but lost them, just too tired. Think I will get a piece of Fruit Cake and callit a night.
Till later
cheapclassics Good evening all, An up and down day. Scored a PRR box car for grandson's train he will get for Christmas. Also got some other Christmas shopping. Got home in time to catch the tail end of a major upset in English Premiere League as Bournemouth knocked off Man U 2-1. Tried to do a practice "run" for the Mini in May. Not looking good as I only did 1.44 miles overall and the first mile pace was 3 MPH. Not nearly fast enough. Good news is that I did not get winded. Wife and I got the street gutter cleaned out in front of the house. We have been watching ION TV Christmas movies. No Oscar winners there, but enjoyable entertainment. Weather is still very warm, new record high today. I hope everyone has a good day. Keep on training, Mike C. from Indiana

I have been training as well. I haven't run in almost a year, training to run the Half Marathon here in Feb.
Don't worry No lifting to much for me. Wife still doing most of it. I do need to get tree up tomorrow ( it's artificial) lets see white blanket tree stand, White towels around the tree stand, then train track, then tree branches lol. something like that. LOL Be first time for a train around the tree in a long time. I can see this the cats aught to just love this lol. They haven't really seen trains before except one who I use to let down in the train room she liked to follow the train thru the tunnel lol. Wouldn't mess with them just follow them.
Evening all!
Got some sprinkles today but supposedly will get an inch or more after midnight. Cleaned out gutters as large oak in back yard finished dropping its leaves last night.
Fought off a bit of a bug the last couple of days. Slept until 11 this morning and felt better for it.
Chief -
I'm going to join Doug's warning with mine RT.
I didst the dumb thing when I got my ICD's second lead pulled out by lifting up a 30lb amplifier head onto my cabinets. The sensation I got was not nice!!!!
G'day all,
Beautiful day today, everything frosty this morning when I went for my walk. It really feels good to walk when it is nice and cold out.
The big surf is really playing heck with some of the peirs out here. Believe it was Ventura that received some significant damage, down this way Oceanside and O.B. got some minor stuff so far. Of course that report was before hi-tide.
Shake- n-bake, A couple of AGHR's came down for a visit yesterday, Matt & Tom. I was only there long enuff to shake hands, say hi-n-goodbye. I stopped in after seeing the cardiologist and had some other stops to make. Some of the issues are from slight decline in heart health, not major at this point but he is changing my meds so more blood work in a couple weeks to see if they make a + improvement.
The BetterHalf and I went to a local Christmas show last night, it benefits Rady's Children's Hospital. Great lineup with the headliners being Lonestar plus several other Nashville notables. The best part of the evening was after the show everybody including the entertainers gathered outside and sang Silent Night by candlelight, but at 11:30 it was really getting cold. Tonight is the club's Christmas Party, should be fun.
Chief, What a terrible loss, bad enuff if it was just an accident or some other issue but if it was intentional that makes it even worse Hang'em hi !
Gotta run.
RT, Pace yourself dude, remember weight restrictions and how hi you lift your left arm.
Prayers for all in need.
Later !

Chloe, can I get rawcaffeine in an IV bag please...definitely need it today...
Well, our afternoon coffee klatch just finished up here...a bunch of us usually go to our local diner to see what is up...then I went to my FLHS and bought me a brass Challenger.
I like me my brass HO locomotives for the railroad club here...heeheehee
Have some stuff to do here...
Chief, sorry to hear about the loss of the young child in your town. Extra bad this time of year.
Picked up some Hardee's bisquits with ham, sausage and egg this morning. They are part of Carl's Jr. here. They didn't seem quite as good as in Virginia/North Carolina. Maybe some yankee transplants here in California don't know how to make bisquits.
Christmas parade in town today but I missed it.
Don, good luck with your train adventure. Sounds like a lot to do.
Finally got a guy to look at my recliner problem yesterday. Says he will get new part and be back today.
Got a call from my Home care people referred to us by the surgeon. I dropped some of their services. Thought they were milking it. They were giving me a hard time about it.

8ntruck Kev - send me a personal message with your e-mail address. I'll send you some sketches and pictures that might help with your B-unit conversion. 218 - that is a power truck with 2 magnetic axles? You might consider keeping the truck with the pick up rollers under the B-unit wired together with the pick up rollers in the A-unit. This eliminates power drops across switches and crossovers. This set up could get interesting going across blocks, depending on how you have them wired, though. All for now.

Sad news Chief for all involved in that fire. Just sad.
About 60 and partly cloudy today. Rain is this afternoon and Sunday.
Went out back to check the trails yesterday and found a dead doe. Not sure if the coyotes got it or it was a bad shot and it ran. But it has been gutted by the coyotes eaten through the rear and gut. That will stink to high heaven in the spring for a spell.
Got to go. Prayers for all in need.
