A good day at work.  Busier than expected, but got a lot done now instead of later in the month.  Weather never did warm up like expected.   Wife did a lot of gift card shopping.  I went for my longest walk in a while.  Knee is much better.  Tendons are ouchie.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning from a very foggy North Bluff. 30 heading to 41 with clouds all day.
Pulled the header off my 1975 Trident T160 motorcycle so I can get it re-chromed. Starting to get some rust, $400.00 for a re-chrome verses $1,100.00 for a replacement. No brainer there.
 The place I am going to get it done is in Rock Island 105 miles to the west of here down the old Rock Island main line that runs right through downtown Marseilles. To bad they don’t still run passenger trains on that line. It would be a cool ride. Don’t know if I want to take the drive west on I80 in the fog, maybe tomorrow.

Some titbits.

The Rock Island and La Salle Railroad Company, was incorporated in Illinois on February 27, 1847, and an amended charter was approved on February 7, 1851, as the Chicago and Rock Island Railroad. Construction began October 1, 1851, in Chicago, and the first train was operated on October 10, 1852, between Chicago and Joliet. Construction continued on through La Salle, and Rock Island was reached on February 22, 1854, becoming the first railroad to connect Chicago with the Mississippi River.

And here is a picture of the 1975 Trident I purchased 40 years ago last month. New then it was $2,175.75

Another long shift tonight.

Buckeye - good to see you and Joe!

Doug - I just saw something on the Corvanatics site about the Corphibian. Don't know much about it, other than it being built from a Rampside

Think I will chase down a couple rims and tires for the '63 next week off. I don't plan on using the rims on the rear axles now. The two rims on the front will eventually be spares for both this car and the van. The coupe was coverted to 5-lug rims w/ van rear axles at some point. To continue it's 'dune buggy' history, I'm thinking of putting white spokes on it, narrower on the front w/ more meat in the back. No use in worrying too much about the back tires right now, as once it gets back from the DMV inspection I plan on hauling out the drive train and seeing what condition the original 102HP engine is in. 

We are going to open the trolley for the street fair next weekend so we can hopefully generate some more public interest. 

The Gadsden Purchase area is reflected here (this will make somebody dig out a history book:)

Good Early morning.

I spent some time playing around with the 8 string bass and a few weird effect pedals tonight. Hence why I am up at silly o'clock

Foggy and cold right now going to a high of 45 later in...in the sunshine.... hopefully.

Oh...last week our little Spring passed away in his sleep. This left us down in the dump for awhile. But...next weekend we are getting a little black kitteh from the rescue agency across the town here. She will be 8 weeks old then.

Been fighting the creeping crud this weekend.  Didn't get much done other than napping.  Feeling better now, though.

I did watch the Michigan State/Iowa game yesterday.  Good game.  Was somewhat dissapointed with the number of reviews on the official's calls.  To me, they just seem to be out of place in college ball - the official's call is just part of the game.  Then again, with the amount of money involved in college ball nowadays......

Not a lot going on here went by my church this morning paid my respects. There trying to take care of a family of 5 who are haveing some bad luck 2 boys 7 and another 4 and the father has cancer. Hope we are able to make a big difference for them seems we are on the right track although we are a very small church of only about a dozen members. 

Not much else to report no real train news for today did get a 1666 marx going that I think has been sitting about 30 years it was real tight but its doing a lot better now. even smoked for a bit but now guess its out of fluid and I don't have any. Thought I did but dang if I can find it.

Today was the Springfield, Ohio train show.  Admission $5.00, free parking and lots of tables with some really good prices.  For over a year, DeMay and I have tried to meet and today was the day.

KRM: definitely familiar with the Corn City of DeKalb, got both of my degrees there!

wrmcclellan: they were going to continue to run the train until everyone got a chance, but the temperature was about 32F and dropping.  And Noah had gone sans-nap that afternoon so his tollerance was waning.  Unfortunately (or fontunately) his interest in the train was not.  He thankfully fell asleep about 5 minutes into the ride home.  Just kinda sucked that they planned things poorly.

I took the morning off to serve a the morning Masses then got to work about 1230. It is the youngest's birthday today so I'll leave work as soon as I can this evening. Hard to believe she is 12.

Hopefully I can get the remaining outside lights up Monday when I'm off. Everyone should be at school and I've not received any honey-do's, yet.

Morning all! A bit frosty here in Chicagoland but all of the white stuff from a week ago is now gone for the time being.

“Make Your Own Pizza Night” was a hit on Friday – highly recommend it as a neat way to host a get-together and get folks talking.  Meant to take the 2YO to one of the Lionel day events yesterday, but told him he’d need to take a bath in order to go.  His response? “I wanna relax a bit, daddy!”  I need to be more careful what I say around him…

Went to a local park though where they have a 18” train they run year-round but dress up for their “Polar Express” event each year.  Got tickets for the last train @ 5:45 PM, but when we finally got in line found an hour-long wait.  Apparently like the airlines they overbooked – kinda disappointing as another hour in a freezing temps wasn’t in the cards.  The boy was not pleased.

Off to church in a little while – then hopefully some football while getting a parts order together for various coupler pieces.

Good to hear from you Joe. AF moving you again? I do remember that from my youth:)

Chief - I occassionally still wear my field jacket, but more often it's the Carhartt if I'm looking for warmth. Went thru the last of my old uniforms on Veteran's day for some reason. Got rid of a lot of stuff that was either worn out, didn't fit, or just wasn't usable (whattya do w/ a dress white jumper?). Saved my dress blues and one set of Seabee greens. I'm actually wearing a working blues long sleeve shirt that I never added an insignia to. Since it still fits, it makes a good work shirt:)

The great state of Indiana is represented by this writer.   A good day.  The tree upstairs in the attic is up and functional.  The leaves are all mulched.  Wife and I went to a nice show featuring the Irish fiddle player and her band.  Got the Christmas letter written.  All I have to do is get Christmas cards done and shopping for grandkids.  I hope everyone has a good day.

He does'nt want to visit, he just wants us to go out to eat with him all the time.  I need a lady who can sit with my wife while I run errands and stuff like that.  I wouldn't get a man to do that.

Will try to make the TTOS meet tomorrow and wife has expressed an interest in going with me but we'll see if she feels that way tomorrow.

Good morning,

Had a busy past couple of weeks with work and family visiting for the holiday.  We had a great Thanksgiving here in Ohio.  I have completed some minor work on the layout and eventually I'll take some more photos.  It's not nearly completed but it's scenicked enough, and the youngest just wants to run trains which we can do.  The AF may move me in 2016 so I'm hesitant to do much more to it; I think I just want to run the trains as well right now.  We will finish putting up the Christmas decorations today as it will be in the lower 50s and sunny.

RT - I'm glad you are home and doing well.

Morning all.  Sunny and chilly [finally].  I actually ahd to wear my heavy Army field jacket yesterday afternoon.  Did leaves until they got damp and didn't much well.  Out to do more today.  They didn't die from frost and fall.  Rain and wind beat them off.  Strange weather.  At least not raining.  Been in a rain every three days.  Everything super wet down east and shooting lanes flooded.

Hope all are OK.  Glad to see RT home.

Texicans are exta dry and then flooded.

Morning Gang!

Sunny and seasonal temps finally. Back yard is a mud pit. The past summer of only watering once a week and the previous year of watering once every 2 weeks cost me most of the grass. Weeds and mud. I have replaced the sod twice in last 20 years  not doing it again.

RT - glad you are back and better.

Ray - - hope the outcome of your meeting Mon is good for you.

DougdaG - hope you took a big pot of chili?

Brent/Don - I got the shingles shot. Hope it works.

SJ - think you have that backwards. Men walk into mall or grocery store and walk out in 10 min. Men walk into HF and are there for 2-3 hrs...
