Hot morning to you all.  Record heat for the next few days.  Triple digits.

Mayor's meetings until way into the night.  At least they are in the A/C.

Doug, you are a great guy.  You know what I mean.  Bless you and your wife.

Jon, for a Yankee, you are a great guy.

VA dogs left yesterday afternoon. Big Smile

Hope all have a great week.

cnw1995 - Very, very nice.  And you clean-up well, too.

Dido Doug, Glad it all went well for everyone!  Big Smile

It rained another inch in 20 minutes this AM. Lane is washed out again but not as bad, still have to re do it. That makes about 9" of rain in four days. Enough already!!! Tongue Tied

Doug, looks like the wedding went well.  God bless you all.

Warmer weather returning this week.  Not looking forward to that.

Got a quote from a guy this morning to "fix" my pool water through reverse osmosis.  Wants $775 to do it.  Sounds like a racket but it's the only game in town short of draining the pool which I can't do until the drought is over.

Watching for UPS truck this week for my new MTH AS616 Norfolk Southern engine and also the missing screw coming for my ATSF 4-8-4.

Went out to N and Out burger last night with the whole family followed by a banana cream pie picked up on the way home.  Not as good as Marie Callender's.

Have a good week,

Ray

More rain forecast for most of this week.  I did manage to get the lawn mowed tonight.  Even got out to the Big Red Power Reunion on Saturday and the Wings over Whiteman air show on Sunday - between rain showers.

The Big Red Power Reunion was the national show for the Inerenational Harvester Collectors Club.  It started wednesday and finished up on Saturday.  Sounded like a good meet for the club members, but was so - so for John Q. public. I did see some oddballs there, though.  One guy had combined three Farmall Cubs into a triple engined Cub.  Another one was a Farmall H with a Detroit Diesel 2-71 conversion.  this one was supercharged.

We got to the air show about 2 in the afternoon.  Just in time to see an aerobatic team that was flying AT6 Texans.  We were then pleasantly surprised that the last presentation was the Thunderbirds.  Those guys put on a heck of a show.  It was a humid day, so they were making wingtip streamers and 'clouds' on top of their wings during the high G manuvers.  Our seat in the bleachers was almost directly in front of the #6 airplane.  It was interesting to see a cloud form inside the intake when he throttled up to taxi out to the runway.  I am amazed by how they can make four or six aircraft fly as one.  The #4 airplane had a belly tank.  Anybody know why?

All for now.

Mornin' boys.  Gonna be 91 with a good chance of Lightning today, which means there's a good chance I'll be "wearing" a border collie later on...  Slept good.  Newlyweds came for dinner last night, and grandson was upset that the carpet central had disappeared.  While putting it away, my LW's throttle broke off in my hand.  Hopefully I can find the part.

Banks - Stop on by to see the layout (while you can)...

Aloha from a sunny, cool and hockey-mad Chicago. It looks like a pleasant day between t-storms. Kev, you sure got soaked and dodged the twister. 8n, our AF liasion says that belly tank is actually some sort of electronics bay.

We finally got to see the sun again. Boy it has been wet around here. Come August there won't be a cloud in the sky and we will be looking for any rain we can beg for. Half way through June already, it doesn't seem fair that the summer months are so much shorter than the winter ones..

Good morning all,

Got two things yesterday.  The missing screw for my ATSF Northern from MTH and my new NS Baldwin AS616 MTH road switcher arrived.  Runs great! Proto 3.  Instructions say to turn screw underneath to off if you don't want smoke.  I did but still get smoke anyway if I don't turn it off on the hand held device.  The DCS will overide manual setting.  Poor design.  Anyway, I'm happy with the engine.

Doctor appointment this morning and caregiver meeting this afternoon.

later,

Ray

Good afternoon,

Fife that handle is a 23-85 according to my parts book.  Smile
Got woke up by that darn Pleated woodpecker beating on the chimney stack again.  Angry
Our neighbor and I hauled two loads of gravel this morning to repair part of the wash out on the lane in.. Way better price than the other place and just as nice of material only adds one mile to the round trip. Last two loads cost $111.00 and these two today cost $75.00 and we got a ton more than the last time.  Yes
Dennis, we have got over 9” of  Storm  in four days and like SJ said we will be praying for rain in August. Cool
Doug, there was over a foot of water all the way across I-80 16 miles west of here on Sunday. The tornado was only two miles from my brother’s place but more than 50 from us.

Aloha from a wet and cool Chicago. The sunshine lasted a day and it was welcome. Listening to the BBC Radio 5 today at work. We were lucky enough to be invited out on a neighbor's boat to listen to a beach concert at our local lake last night. Hope to visit the Ireland exhibit at the Art Institute for a last time before it goes away this weekend. Happy happy happy happy birthday to our Sir James! Happy B-DayCake

Mornin' Fellas

Yes I am still alive and kicking. Going through a bit of a transformation right now. Long story short, I am changing careers from Software Development to Business Systems Analyst or Project Manager. Started about a year ago, then kicked into high-gear a month ago. I sit for my PMP Certification on Saturday. {fingers crossed} Yesterday I attended a PMI event in Silver Spring, it was exhilarating to say the least. Received incredible feedback on my resume and why I apparently can't transition out of a Software Engineer position.

It is hard to self-reflect, and hear people critize you, but in the long run - as long as your are open minded - their advice is based off their experience and expertise and I was actually seeking their guidance, so better heed it and use it to my advantage. TheQ has been incredibly supportive through this process as well.

Transformation = Success!

Looking forward to vacation at the end of next week... I really need it. Just have to nail this certification exam on Saturday, then I can use the vacation to relax and seek a new environment!

Fife - sounds like grandpup is learning from grandFife and soaking up the training! Well done! I used to have an LW that I honestly no longer need - if I still have it. It is all original and in working order. Let me know if you are interested, and I will dig it out tonight.

Browsers... ugh... I can't wait for Windows10. I've been demoing it for about 3 months now and all I can say is... Windows10 is what Windows7 was to Windows Vista. It takes what Win7 did awesomely well, with what Win8 does well, melds them together, then makes the better! One of the things I liked the most is IE is no longer part of it, and you don't have to use their new browser if you don't want to - it is a seperate part of the install.

V8Vega

I saw the forcast minutes ago. Wed. 98 Thur. 99 Fri. 100

Thanks to me finding the owners manual online I found how to view photos on my new tablet. I took a picture just to try it out and it takes good pictures outside, I don’t think it would be good in low light.

I wanted to delete the picture but I must be missing something in the instructions. A delete is suppose to come up and it dosen’t.

Dennis,
When the picture is displayed on the tablet, you may have to tap the screen to get the menu to pop up (sometimes at the top of the tablet screen).

Brent, It is my understanding that if you have Windows 8 or 8.1 they will give you 10 for free for up one year after release is that correct?  Huh?

Kev,
The free upgrade is for any version of Windows 7 or 8. When you download the updates via Windows Update one of them is for the free upgrade - they so kindly put an icon in the system tray that you can use to keep track of your upgrade.

Hope that helps?
