Aloha from a grey Chicago. Enjoyed Fathers Day by taking the youngest to the Illinois Railway Museum. Rode the North Shore interurban and a Chicago Surface Lines trolley and hung out with their Frisco 1530, just listening to the steam. Well, video link doesn't load so here's a photo of their gas turbine:

Banks, that shark looks like a dogfish. I would be leary to hold one like that. They have sharp teeth. We used to bury them in our garden for fertilizer in the old days.
Wife is getting a good visit from some of her church friends this morning. I'm very happy they came.
Dinner out last night for father's day. Had coconut cream pie for desert. Had a busy time in the bathroom this morning. Coconut must not agree with me.
Watered today as part of our twice weekly allowance. It's not enough. Grass is turning brown anyway. Lawn will probably be dead by August. Then we can paint it green.
Tested out my new MTH AS 616 but has been too hot to run it lately in the garage. Nice engine though. There were some differences from the model on the prototype. NS had handrails mounted to the running board. The model has handrail at eye level on the side. The prototype had a bell hanging over the front of the engine which is missing on the model. Maybe I can make one from scratch or get a detail part somewhere.

Good evening all,
USA! USA! USA! US women playing that all American sport defeat the Columbians 2-0 tonight. Work was slow today and weather is humid. Got to practice with "my" soccer girls tonight as well. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Mornin' boys. Clear and 72 in the Mid-Atlantic region. Calling for stormy weather after a heat advisory. Did finish painting the basement stairwell, which really looks biggger with all of the NASCAR stuff gone. Finally hooked up the Colber bubbling water tower and MTH power station on the new section, because the grandson wanted to see it. And just been told he ain't coming over today... OH well, maybe I'll head to the dock.
Oldest Princess ebayed me the Dept 56 canal boat set. Even though it's Dickens Village, the boat has the overall dimensional look of a C&O vessel, looks nice, and will fit in just fine with the future layout.

Probably the same storms that rolled across lower Mi last night. Several tornados not all comformed yet. Sunny and humid this morning.

Good morning all,
V8, I agree that it feels more than 92 in the afternoon. The little lean two shed on the side of the garage gets up over 100 in the afternoon and it is open to the elements. Same inside the garage.
Waiting to hear from the house painter about when they will start. Probably this week.
Still debating what kind of computer to get. My old one needs to be retired.
Afraid to look at my next electric bill. A/C has been running all day lately.
Interesting day at work, but pretty well got everything done. Hopefully tonight will be quiet. Heard from Lucas last night and he is doing well. Will go see him over 4th of July weekend. When depends on how US does in rest of World Cup. I hope everyone has a good day.
Tough day on the North Bluff from last night’s storms, but way better than some close neighbors.
Everyone must of moved to the other place. No posters???? Oh well!

I've been lurking lately. Lots going on. MIL went into the hospital last week, seems she got her meds out of whack, my wife's cold has returned, and I've been fighting a bug since Friday. I also found out today that one of the guys I've worked with on and off since the early 80's passed away a couple of weeks ago.
On the up side, I did wander around the annual automotive swap meet at the fair grounds last Saturday. Came home with a reprint of a factory assembly manual for my '57 Chevy. Interesting book. Looks like it has maybe 80% of the part numbers in the car, and torque specs for 90% of the fasteners in the car. Of course, that outing pretty much wiped me out for getting anything else done on Saturday. It was sunny, so I at least got a good dose of viatamin D.
All for now.
Mornin' boys. Mean weather came through before dark, but we were lucky. A much nicer day in the Mid-Atlantic region. Certainly glad it's not hot like down Chief's way.
More pitchin' and throwin' today, as trash goes out tonight. Set aside a short stack of Sentinnels for Buckeye, loaded with articles of the B&O in Ohio.
Aloha from a grey and cooler Chicago. Glad you dodged the storms and what was the final count? 9? tornadoes, Kev. Thanks for sharing your great story on the other thread, Fife. Nothing too exciting last night beyond reading to the youngest since he wasn't feeling well.
Gray & cool on the North Bluff with bad stuff in the works for later.
I think your right Doug on the number 9. Wifey and cat were in the basement and I was on watch. We did better than many but did get 4" of rain in less than 30 minutes. The 11 day total in now at 14.75" of rain. With more to come over the next three days. They have us in the bull's eye again. What a wild ride it has been this summer.
The farmer's field flooded and it washed over the road and down our lane and took out all the gravel I got last week to replace it from the wash out last week.
I fixed our part of the lane and I have decided to just let these others who drive on it but don't help with the cost, drive over the holes and ruts for a while. I got 4x4 so I am okay. Besides they are calling for more gushers over the next three days so no sense in getting gravel just to have it washed away.
Worked 5 hours yesterday for the dealer just to get out of here.
Anyway stay safe.
8N prayers.
Cooler today. High around 95 with high humidity. If you moved outside yesterday, you sweated.
Errands today.
Hope all weathered the storms OK.
Have a good one.

Hello all
Back on the mountain for a four day run and heading home this afternoon. We are now in summer shutdown so my schedule will change a bit.
Went to a group campout last weekend and remembering that we had electricity at the ramada I brought the N-scale trolley which was a big hit.
Kev - glad you were clear of the worst of the weather. Was thinking of you.
Fuel tank is ready to be picked up for the Corvan. Should be able to install that this weekend and after a few more odds and ends I may be able to drive it home.
Found a book on 4 piper destroyers from WWI yesterday. My grandfather was on two of these during the 1930's. My next plastic model project will be a 1/700 scale version of the USS Ward. The kit has some photo etched details that will be something new for me.
I think soon I will finally make the 'jump' to a double loop 4'X6' layout (from 3X5). The leak in the living room of the trailer is now fixed and I want the 1/2 plywood under the current layout to help reinforce the base of a ~100 yr old carpenters chest that belonged to my great uncle. Thinking about trying the blueboard setup described in the Big Book of Lionel. And finally try out all those Marx switches I have been collecting. If I can make the mods to get them to work w/ my Lionel stuff, I will then have a number of 1122's to surplus.

Hi all!
Sorry for the absence but had a a health thing that knocked me down for a couple of weeks and now coming back. Not 100% but improving well.
Hope all are well.
Regards, Roy
Well, we can't lose them all. We tied the other team that had not won a game in our league 1-1. Work was quiet and the walk was nice. I hope everyone has a good day.
Bob, good to know you doing well and thanks! Sounds like you have some good plans.
Roy, get back to 100% soon.
Waiting for the next downpour, So far so good.
Mornin' boys. Sunny & 66 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Going sailing with Fifepup this morning. He is doing well, and got a full-time gig (finally) at Marine Max. They aren't too known on the east coast, but are a billion dollar outfit in Florida. Maybe he will circulate down there in the winter...?
Didn't get anything accomplished yesterday, as called into last minute taxi-service to take Wifey, 2 princesses, and grandson to Dutch Wunderland. I made the most of it, and headed over to Hanover, to my new favorite train store, Toy Trains Unlimited. Nice selection of both postwar, AF, and newer Lionel and MTH. Picked up a B&O bobber caboose I passed on last visit. They also had the cars and caboose that would have accompanied my 2026 outfit, but I'm not sure I'm heading in that direction. I'm thinking a string of tuscan ore cars and a Lionel animated brakeman caboose would sure be a show stopper.
Stopped by Strasburg (Thomas and Percy were in town), and picked up Trainz smoke pellets. Checked on the little toy & train shop next to Lemoyne Tower, and surprisingly the owner had a small selection of postwar on the shelves, at very nice prices.
I raided the outlets, and bought some Dept 56 North Pole Village stuff, on sale (for once) at Christmas Tree Hill. Then picked the fam up at the front gate, and back home. Spent money I shouldn't have, but heck...
Roy,
Hope your feeling better soon!

Quiet day at work. Got to practice with some of the high school kids tonight. Lots of rain today. Taking tomorrow off. Roy, glad to hear you are feeling better. Fife, sounds like you had a good day. I hope everyone has a good day.
Mornin' boys. Mornin' Roy. I have absolutely nothing planned this weekend, so I can book Southwest flight 4324 (1 way), and be in Dallas in time to feed you chicken noodle soup for lunch. It will be my pleasure to nurse you back to health, prop your pillows, we can share layout secrets, watch Dr Phil.... I have this ability to heal others; no one was better at getting "walking wounded" out of the station and back on the streets better than Me. Sing along, "People let me tell you 'bout my be-essst friend..."
Good morning,
Yesterday I spent three hours on the overpriced JD bucket loader fixing the drive with neighbor Jim. Neighbor Brian delivered 2 semi loads of gravel. He got it for free where he works but I don't care how he got it, at least "HE" got it. Weird stuff but perfect for where it washed, The rock ranged from 2.5" down to nothing and it has a lot of fines, Should pack in nice. Most road mix is 3/4" and down so we will see how it works. Should be great base for regular road mix.
When Jim heard that Brain had called me and said take all you need he could not get on his overpriced Cub bucket loader fast enough.
Then I ran the roller over everything for a few hours to pack it in yesterday afternoon. You should of heard Brain brag about supplying two free to him loads of weird gravel. My tongue is bleeding.
Better than a sharp stick in the eye.
Today Jim wants to pull one of his culverts out that has bowed up on both ends and re-set it. The water goes under it and around it. Don't know if we will get it in without rain. He needs a steel one not the plastic like is there. More tractor time.
You guys have a good day.
Roy hope your feeling better.
A sunny day today, rain tomorrow....again
Afternoon all. Suppose to be off today. You know what suppose means??? Big bypass screwup and I'm screaming at DOT [who all incharge are on vacation]. Next will be UGLY to them on the news. 1 1/2 years behind is enough.
Roy, glad you are better. Keep improving.
Lots of big booms and flashes last night. Several bnooms lasted for over a minute. Just rumbled on and on. Some got golf ball size hail. We got only a sprinkle.
Gettting good tomatoes from the garden. Plenty of good tomato sandwiches.
Now back to banging DOT and see if I get results.
Roy, get better soon.
Chief, tomato sandwiches are great with home grown like you get. I picked up some at the market yesterday which are the best kind we can get. They are called tomatoes on the vine and are round as opposed to oblong like the Roma variety. Taste pretty good too but nothing can hold a candle to home grown.
Painters started on my house yesterday. About 6 guys came yesterday but only 3 or 4 today. Only doing prep work so far and repairing damaged wood on back side of house. Pool was covered with plastic to keep out debris so I can't go in pool until they get that off.
later,
Afternoon All.
Back from short stay in hospital, ICD installed and ready to go. Going to be on very light duty for possibly the next month, we'll see how that goes. The worst part of the whole thing so far was having to stay flat in bed for sixteen hours after implanting the thing. At the end of the sixteen hours I told the nurse to break out her track shoes we will be walking, funny part is that the time was up at 1am. Maybe that's a good thing , less chance of knocking anybody down tha might be walking the halls also.
Time to go stretch out for a bit, yak later.
