Hi from a cloudy and cool North Bluff.

Well I worked on my Marx projects for my uncle and got everything done but the crank on the steamer. The post on the drive wheel is broke off and I need to figure out a way to drill out the wheel to put a stud in it or I will need to change the wheel and I don't have a wheel or a wheel puller and press. So not sure what I  will do on that?

Not a lot else going on other than still working on the deck issues but I have that figured out just waiting for things to dry out.

Have a good one.

Thank you very much BUCKEYE for the wonderful and tasty treats that you have brought to JOHN and I that evening in ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.  It was a tasty treat not like something from the South that tasted like spackle. BRUTUS BUCKEYE sure knows how to please!!!  Thanks again BUCKEYE.

Ran a couple of PW Geeps yesterday, they ran good but sound loud after running with can motors for awhile.

That is some kinda of accomplishment, 7000 posts!  Unbelievable!  No question about the choice of Buckeye's or Grits!  Even though I've never had one they sure sound great.

Getting closer and closer to finish my painting, Big Smile painted the wrought iron front gate and mail box yesterday.  Was going to start the pool equipment today but made a trip to the VA.  Had to have big toe nail checked out.  All the toes on my right foot were broke from the accident.  The steel toe of the boot folded over on top of them.  Anyway, the nail has been growing out and looked like it is coming off, but also shows signs of possible infection.  Definetely dont want to take any chances so went to the ER.  Really impressed with them!  They put me on some antibiotics, and set me up with a podiatrist, and had me see my regular Dr while I was there.  Was in and out of there in no time.  And they want me to come back in a couple of days.  I am very pleased with them.  So they sent me home and need to soak the foot in epsom saults and keep it elevated for awhile.  Sad  Got too  many things on my agenda list than just sitting around with my foot in the air. But guess I have to do it.

Roy, I didn't mention the breakfast at ROC on Friday, honestly didn't think about it.  But it is probably just as well, trust me.

Found something interesting out, we have a couple of Lazy Boy recliners which have developed some operating issues.  Didn't realize they are under a life time warranty from the manufacturer.  So had them out, both chairs now work great.  Service tech said needed some white grease lubricant put on the operating mechanism every 3-6 months.  No one ever mentioned that before, and I had never given it a thought.

Ray, I think you and Dennis are getting the brunt of the Santa Ana's, I haven't noticed the dryness or much wind.  If any we are just getting the breeze from the ocean that flows up the river channel behind the house.

Think I'll go and indulge in an adult refreshment.  (Baker's)

Take care all!

Good evening all,

Congrats Buckeye on 7000 posts!  Nice pictures.  Seminar was educational today.   Traffic has been bad last 2 days.   Arrow is really going off deep end.  Another person killed off and brought back to life, and looks the same will repeat next episode.   That is 3 so far this season.  Kind of ridiculous.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good afternoon all,

Buckeye, congratulations on 7000 post.  I enjoy your input and the kidding between you and the Chief.

We had a free day today with no doctor appointments.  Thought about driving to the ocean, about an hour away by freeway but ran out of ambition.  One of these days, I'll do it.

Hot weather heading our way with Santa Ana winds.  No rain in sight.

Jonadel, thanks for the Bar-B-Que info.  It sounds like a real science to get it right.

None of that today but might grill a steak tonight.

later,

Ray

Ray -- I made a stop yesterday at my favorite BBQ/Smoking supply store and visited with the owner about your question as to whether you could use your gas grill and smoke ribs.  His reply was yes, if you use a smoke bowl w/wood on the one side of the grill w/heat, place your ribs on the other side of the grill with no heat and smoke (indirect heating) and it will work.  If you try this method be sure and use a good dry rub the night before and leave them wrapped in the fridge, the next day let them come up to room temperature and have your grill at 225, I always use pecan and apple chuncks of wood, stay away from hickory -- too strong.  Cherry chunks also work very well, plan on about 3 hours of smoking, basting ribs the last 30-45 minutes with Dr. Pepper or Root Beer, spraying the ribs. Wish we lived closer, I'd love to help you out.  It's a great hobby.

A few more.

Aloha. It's sunnier but cooler today. Took the middle boy out for his first legal drink last night and talked about his next steps in becoming an EMT. Good conversation. The youngest discovered his bearded dragon passed away quietly overnight so I had to take care of that transition before work. He was sad but I'm kind of glad to have one less critter in the house. Yesterday, a controlled prairie burn got out of control a few blocks away and damaged 14 houses. That's going to cost someone... Those are some great photos, Buckeye - and 7K posts - wow! The NFL is setting up some sort of weird Draft Festival a block away. The city apparently agreed to close a bunch of streets at the end of the month for them.

Good morning,

Nice pictures Buckeye.

Bob, I would like to see you do that thread on the trolley. Sounds neat. Smile

As for yesterday's project:  Angry

Well the more I pulled wood off of the deck stairs the worse it was, Got down to the treated stringers before I found something not rotted out. So it was time for a new plan. Went to the neighbor Brian's got used treated 2x6 and made something that will work till I figure out what the issue is. It looks like from what I can tell a very small bug seems to like cedar,  Bang Head Bang Head???? Anyhow, there is now stairs without railings but you can get on and off the deck.

There are three steps and anything more than two steps you have to have a rail

Still have to replace a bunch of wood so today I will get that and go from there.

On a good note it is nice outside at last. Yes

Hello all

Nice photos Buckeye!

Serviced the Marx #666 since I had it apart to look at the e-unit wiring. It has the same e-unit as the one I put in the trolley.

I may have found an appropriate roof for the trolley. If nothing else comes up I'll may make a temporary out of bass wood. For those of you familiar w/ prewar Flyer (not me:), the car body is a # 1205.

More trolley (the real one) work this weekend and some Corvair work too. Hopefully, I can get the wiring I need done on the van. Maybe even finally spring for a battery. 4dr needs some minor adjustments after the engine mount install. Got to set things for the heat since summer is coming.

Mostly sunny and high 60's today.  I really enjoyed the sunshine while I was out for lunch.  Rain blowing in from the south east  tonight.

I was able to snipe a P.E. Berkshire and tender on e-bay last night for $89.  Price was right, and I've been thinking about getting a spare.

About all for now.

Good afternoon all,

Took wife to Neurologist today and had a good visit with him.  Actually had a conversation for a change.  I think my primary physician must have lit a fire under him because I mentioned that I was not getting any feedback from him.

Hope Don's buddy Bob is going to have a good time at York.  He will be overwhelmed because this is his first time.  I know I was.

Wifey and I had a nice lunch out after the doctor visit.

My son who lives with us informed me that he will not be home for dinner for the next three nights due to dates and personal business.  I was glad to hear it so I won't have to cook dinner for three.  Wife and I might just eat out while he is gone.

Brother in Virginia says sister is slightly improved but still a long way to go.  Hoping for the best.

Still expecting delivery of my Santa Fe 4-8-4 in for repair at MTH after 5 months.  Nothing yet.  Was told delivery would be soon.

Have cut back on watering here due to drought.  No mandatory rationing yet but I expect it soon.  Govenor wants to cut usage by 25%.  I'm afraid to ask if I can change the water in my pool when it gets too much chemical in it.  That might go over like a lead baloon.  Alternative is drain it and then spend ten grand for a new liner when drought is over.  Not good!

Evening all!

Life has been busy the last few days. All is well. Just a lot of work around the house. Cleaning up this house will take months/years of spare time.

Mike C - hopefully the seminar is one with some nice food. Always something to learn from these things.

Don B - glad to hear the continuing good news about you and Kay. Thumbs Up BTW did your tell your friend Bob about breakfast at Round the Clock diner (junction of I83 and HWY 30 NE corner) Friday approx 7:30?

Dennis  - certainly some excitement in your neighborhood eh?

Cloudy and gray day today. High was about 63. Had a great rain Sun night/Mon morning. Got over an inch at my house and I think it hit our water districts lakes. Some talk his week about easing water restrictions. We have more storm predictions for later this week. Most excellent! Weather a bit warmer for rest of the week. 70's.

Have a great evening all!

Good morning.  Got to get garden going.  Behind on that.  A Town thingy has screwed up lots of time.  Should not have come up to begin with.  Rain coming tomorrow.

Have a great week ahead.

Better get with it Chief, a lot of the gardeners here in PA have their Sugar Peas and Onions in already.  I don't garden anymore, but can remember using a piece of rebar and a hammer to make holes to plant Sugar Peas when the ground was still froozen.  It was always very competitive to get yours in firstWink

Don, I read that Bob's on his way.  Hope he save's up some energy to WALK the York show.

Well got to get back to work here at the TCA Library or they will dock my pay.

Aloha. Sunny and warmer in downtown Chicago. The bride's birthday dinner went OK - even with the extended family Wink. Tonight the middle boy gets his first 'legal' drink. Then a few days until our anniversary. Whew!  Bob, set up that thread! I love your projects.
