lion88roar KRM Brent and Roy, Thanks but,,,,,,,the closest Best Buy is 43 miles away. I hear they burn good and then they are scrap metal. Plastic, silicone boards, and a pressurized CRT tube? I don't think I would want to be anywhere near that fire! 43 miles isn't that bad to safely dispose of a highly toxic CRT TV.

Yeah I know Brent,,,,,,Too bad the manufactures did not care how toxic it was when they made them by the millions.
The thing is over 200lb so I am going to take it apart and have the daughter and SIL dispose of the guts at the electronic recycle center in Joliet where they live. Or I will need to hold on to it till they have a pick-up day somewhere close.
Got up early to go and get Sandra's Christmas gift. Went to the Peru mall to find out I was there 1.5 hours before it opened. A 23 mile drive one way!
Here is the amusement side of the table.

Very nice, Kev. Love the signs on the fence and the old tractors. Clever people placement too

Kev -- your layout is looking GOOD! I especially enjoyed the JD tractors scene Thanks for making the time to post the pics!
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Thanks guys, I never know if I can post pictures here or not but glad you like it.
Doug, I put a bunch more up over there for you to look at if you want to.
Jon, I got some more tractors in International, Case, and AC to add today on the Bay. You got to be a Midwesterner to get it.
I already made some more changes and also scored some more tractors for the antique car/tractor show. Will post maybe on SPF this weekend.
Have a good night.
I forgot to add Jon, This side of the layout is for the grand-kids and anything goes if they like it. The outer two loops are part of the main layout but the inside loop is on a CW80 that they can do what they want with. Kind of risky but fun always. So it is about the fun for them and the enjoyment we get from that.
Good evening all,
Weather could have been an issue both ways on the commute today, but made it there and back without incident. Almost all caught up at work, and tomorrow should be all good. Got an email from dealer that something was shipped. Not sure what it is,either the boxcar or trolley or both. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Evening,
KEV, Really like your layout, and the tractors. It is really neat that you have dedicated a section for the grandchildren. That is outstanding! Many times it seems the layouts get so detailed or expensive that younger kids aren't allowed to get involved, just have to stand by and watch. I agree with your priorities.
Don
Evening all!
Banks - ring and pinion went at 57000 miles. Did 3 once a year 1600 mile trips towing 5000 lb ski boat on dual axle trailer running 70 mph plus lots of local trips to local lakes.
Kev - layout looks great!
Mike C - glad things went well today!

News tonight showed Yellowstone Falls are back in action due to the rain. Saw it years ago. Magnificent!
Have a great day tomorrow all!

Chief - alcohol contains fewer BTU's of energy per pound than gasoline. When it is mixed with gas, you will get lower gas mileage. I had a long trip in a rented car that was a flex-fuel vehicle a while back. One way, I burned gas, on the return trip, I burned E-85. The mileage using E-85 was about 30% less than the mileage using gas. Economically, it does not make sense to me - 30% lower mileage and maybe 10% less price?
On the other hand, E-85 is a pretty good performance fuel. It tolerates higher compression ratios and higher boost levels. Your fuel system needs to be alcohol friendly, though.
On the train activity front, I have built a rock cliff out of ceiling tile on the P.E layout to fill in the big hole I blasted in the side of the mountain. There is now an 027 loop 1/2 under the mountain through two openings in the cliff for the elf hand car to run on. The next step will be to install the pre-fab trestle bents to support the main line since the mountain is not there anymore.
Was hoping to get the P.E. layout set up at the KATY Depot this weekend. Several late nights this week at work and drying time on the fresh scenery will probably prevent that, though.
All for now.

Mornin' boys. Dismal grey weather continues in the Mid-Atlantic region. Fifepup made it it back on Amtrak around midnight. Hours earlier, Penn Station had been taken over by demonstrators, whom had just ruined the City's monument lighting celebration. Get back into your parents' basements!!!
KRM - Wow, I just caught an antique tractor auction on RFD-TV the other night, and was thinking how cool it would be to recreate that on a layout.
dbaker - A candy-striped peg-leg would have been cooler....
Going to Greenberg show at Timonium tomorrow.
Afternoon all. Was going to rake leaves but it started to rain so that ended that. and there calling for it tomorrow again. Not a lot going on here today.
Chief I have a C-pac appointment the 15th I have had mine about 3 years now I think and they check it every so often. My machine is starting to get hard to turn off and on. Chief if you can use the VA you can get stuff like this for free. You should check into it. You like free stuff we can tell with all the free meals you go for.
On the E-85 fuel I've heard where it will ruin your fuel lines/tanks not sure how true it is but seems I remember hearing that it was bad actually for your vehicle
Well not much else going on Talk to you all later

Hi,
More issues with the daughter's car. Boy Oh Boy where do the dealer's get these idiots who they let work on your cars???
RT back in the 70s and 80s E-85 was a problem, but today's cars and fuel systems are made for it. But the cost price value in using it is not there unless it is about $.75 a gallon less than straight gas.
Wrapped Christmas gifts today and made a 1 hour run for the dealer.
Ran trains last night for about an hour just to relax.
No train news, the extra tractors and my 1969 Z28 have not shown up. So nothing new for the layout.
Later.
New project, almost done. Need to replace the fire truck siren with police siren.

A good day at work as all the case reports are done. Not so good at home as progress on the tree was very slow. Lights would not work, and it appears we did not get enough new ones to suit the wife. Lots of shopping to do tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day.

A "funny" story. Qualified but don't use. State Health Plan pays. That was a "given" for all "vested" years ago.
Home from the hunt. Rain on the way [as usual].

Morning all. You guessed it. Raining.
Off to the Hunters Haven and then Todd's Train Depot [Mrs. Edna is in hospital with aneurisms].

Good morning,
Buckeye Great scene!! what smoke unit did you use??
First Muzzleloader season this weekend. Sounds like a war zone out there!
Groceries are in need, not much else going on.
Have a good day.
Howdy Boyz and Gurlz !
No museum this past week, It's Christmas on the Prado (or as the "PC" folks call it December Nights[]) weekend. It's a fun event meeting lots of people but they instituted such crazy parking restrictions that I no longer volunteer. They were estimating that park visitation would be about 350K people thru the two day event.
During the halloween night with all the ghouls & goblins visiting a common question, which we really hadn't been asked before, was if we do something similar for Christmas. Needless to say it got the "BetterHalf" and I thinking: Should We ? . All the halloween stuff is off and packed up so I threw some Christmas houses, etc by various makers on the table with about a 4ft tree. It will require some additional pieces as well as snow/covering for scenery so we are still kicking it around. The biggest question is when to have the garage door open for viewing since it would require somebody to be a security gaurd, or build a two car garage screen security door.
Yesterday was cookie baking day for the BetterHalf's "Children's Hospital Aux" fundraising benefit. Wouldn't be surprised to receive a "thank you" from the Ca dairy board for all the butter I used.
Buckeye, That crash scene is cool, need some flickering red LED's for fire with the smoke. Got any remnants of passengers that had to be "surgically altered" to fit in passenger cars ?
Gotta run, need to finish washing cookie sheets from yesterday.
Later all !

KRM Good morning, Buckeye Great scene!! what smoke unit did you use??
Kev....Thanks! The smoke generator is part of the Fender Bender Accessory produced by K-Line. I added the Jeep to the scene to see how it would look. I have found over the years, that the accessories produced always need a little more to make them pop out on the layout. I'm still thinking of cutting off one of the wheels and putting it in the road or the ditch. I might add a cheap fire truck, too.
Thanks for the reply Buckeye. I really like the scene and your right, they always need some help to make them better and yours. I got some nice lighting on line last year to make fire if you want to as Doug suggested."some flickering red LED's for fire" Let me know and I will find the link. Maybe smash the front of the car with a hammer to add some affect. And a small Fifedog mesuring the skid marks would help to.
Neighbor got two Bucks today so have been down there for the butchering and cleaning.
Not much in the line of trains.
I came across this group on youtube the other week, most of there stuff is fantastic but others are soso. They will surely put you in the Christmas mood.

Thanks for the kind offer Kev, but I have a great source for my lighting projects, Lights 4 Models., and with that I better explain. When I was at York this fall, one item that I really wanted was a LED lighted police car. When I looked at the price, I choked. When I mentioned my disappointment to either Roy or John, one of them said there was a dealer in the other hall that had all sorts of lighted vehicles. At the other hall, I found Lights 4 Models set up in the corner and I started looking at the police vehicles. The gentleman at the booth asked me if he could help me and I told him my desire to have a lighted police car. He handed me a Police LED Kit. It looked perfect and then I read the back of the label. It said, Lights 4 Models, 2460 Tevis Ann Ct., Dublin, OH 43016. I work in Dublin, Ohio!!! We hit it off immediately and I purchased over $100 of products from him. He is the one that told me to use a cheap pull back police car from Kroger instead of an expensive die-cast model.
Unbelievable that I find what I want at York from a dealer less than 20 minutes from my house.
Hello there,
Drove mrs to a baby shower near Manns Choice PA ( about an hour ) she'd rather not travel unfamiliar roads alone in the dark. Now I'm sitting in the Tahoe listening to Bing and friends sing songs of the season and surfing the net on my phone. It's been raining here since last evening so no hunting today. Mrs & I got the Christmas cards ready instead. There's a small train show tomorrow at Johnstown. Then the company Christmas party.
Son has about 1 / 2 load of corn to pick and that is done.
Buckeye great scene. Don't be so scarce.
Roy that is a lot of towing. I have a 99 Tahoe that just turned 100k. Had it 3 years now. It had 8th when I bought it. Tows my camper well and gets 10 or 11 Meg doing it. It's been to Bethany beach DE twice and York several times as well as pulled son's race trailer a fair amount. Don't run it much but hope it has a few more years. What told you your ring and pinion were bad?
Fife. ..how goes the house hunting?
Best move on.
Prayers for those in need

A good day. Did a lot of Christmas shopping and a little sight seeing as well. Went to see a small falls with lots of water going over it after much rain in the area. Quite loud considering the small drop in height. Stopped by Menard's. What they are doing for the toy train hobby is very impressive. Had a case of the 24 flat cars on display as well as several of their buildings in addition to the sets for sale. If someone had need of any their merchandise, that would be the place to get it for reasonable prices. Finally got enough lights on the tree to make wife happy. I hope everyone has a good day.
Mornin' boys. Blustery and 36 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Workin' hard on the Christmas layouts.
Wifey and I did attend the Greenberg Show yesterday, and I must say, after attending for 3 decades, this was the best show ever, both attendance wise and goods wise. Struck gold with 2 Christmas yatchets, 2 Cararama construction trucks, a North Pole Dept 56 building w/elves, a Merry & Bright Cocoa car, and a special somtin' somtin' for Fifey's stocking.
It's been a dismal week sports-wise here, so if Ravens don't win, they are done.
Banks - Cooling off on the house thing for the Holidays...
Good Morning from Blueberryhill..........
Today is suppose to be sunny and 43 degrees.
I will spend the morning in the train room enjoying the trains.
A nice supper is planned and relaxing is good.
