I had that test once, didn't like it. Kept waking up all night.

RT he has a good excuse, should we let him get away with starting Dec. early?

Mornin' boys.  Wow, December 1st already....  Cloudy and mild here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Perhaps a little SNOHIZO overnight.

The "All Train Show" at York yesterday certainly wasn't just train (actually half the tables were slot cars!) nor all that.  Grandson liked the LGB floor layout. which kept him occupied a hot 10 minutes.  Then we strolled across to the Toy show.  We made it half an aisle before the boy had a melt-down over a crane he wanted.  It was antique.  It was $175.  He dug in.  He was shipped back to the Durango.  He learned.  We learned.  Then we went to Glen Rock to see their excellent multi-scale train display.  Don't think it was the right day for a book sale at the library; left only a narrow channel to get in and out.  Then we chased the YORK 17 train from New Freedom to Shrewsbury.  They had the 4-4-0 all decorated; beautiful engine.

Mornin' Fellas

Back to work to recover from the weekend. Woke Thursday to find the roads were clear so we packed up the kids and headed to Pittsburgh. Had a good time with my family - but TheQ and kids had really bad allergic reactions to the dogs... not sure how to approach this subject. Friday we took the kids to see Santa - which went over much better than we expected, Christina actually whispered to him what she wanted, since I was sitting between them I got the list. Smile Then we spent 2 hours having lunch at Chilis... maybe the last time we go there since it appears to be a chain wide issue with slowness.

Got the floor laid, grouted, and 90% of the back splash up. Need to finish hanging the back splash and start working on the baseboards tonight. Need to get the entire kitchen done by Thursday as TheQ and I are off on Friday for shopping and then we will clean the house and start setting up for Christmas this weekend. Fun times.

Fife - sounds like a good time (sans melt down).

Aloha. Brrrr today. Back at work after a pleasant weekend with lots of British train video viewing in between football. Worked my way through all the Ivor the Engine episodes. MikeC, I've seen a PolEx trolley in a local shop. It looks nice - essentially's Lionel's regular trolley with a nice paint job. I thought the Sunderland game very exciting for a tie. DonB, that's a wonderful lighting solution. Congrats to you new Chromebook owners. They are very nice machines. Fife, what a great day. What great grandparenting too!

Afternoon.  Failed sleep test even though I slept 8 hours.  They put CPap on after 3 hours.  Woke up feeling worse than without it.  Getting one I'm sure.  Ins. $$$$

Off to County Commissioners and then special dinner for supporters and swearing in of Sheriff.

Gracious, sunny and 63 degrees.  Tomorrow, cloudy and 43. ???

Good morning all,

Chief, sorry you had issues with the sleep test thingy.  Maybe you will get used to the mask in time.  I hope so for your sake.  Don't have any personal experience with it myself but I do use a canula in my nose and oxygen when I sleep.  I'm used to that now.

Took a nice long walk this morning between rains.  Suppose to rain heavy tomorrow.  Saw a piece on TV this morning about the mud slide areas near me.  City installed a lot of "K rails" to divert mud flows.  I'm afraid the heavier rain predicted is going to cause some problems in the burned areas.  I think we are far enough away from the foothills to be out of danger though.

Lawyer called this morning about finallizing our living Trust.  Went over some stuff with him and we should be able to wrap it up soon.

Son got home from San Francisco last night late.  Said traffic was terrible.  I don't doubt it with people returning home from holiday weekend.  Glad it wasn't me out there.

later,

Ray

Good Dec 1st

Sorry about the sleep test Frank,
Well Got up at 7:30 yesterday and hooked up the car hauler and drove to Joliet and loaded up Katherine's car. Trans oil running out of it bad.   So I took it to the dealer and called the Owner's kid to meet me there and take the keys. Jr gave Dan, the someday maybe SIL a loaner to use till they figure out how bad it is. Dan said it was shaking when they drove it last on Saturday.

It was the first time I have towed anything with the Silverado, just wish it was not Katie's car. :-S I like the built in proportional brake controller. I also like the way it keeps the engine engaged when it down shifts to help brake when in Tow mode. Feels like a stick shift. It was showing 11 to 13 MPG when pulling the car and trailer on flat grade. That is as good as the Dakota got pulling nothing around town.

Got the new TV  today.  49" is a big picture for us. Nice. Now I will need to up-grade to HD for the DirecTV

Car is finished now and they claim it was just over a QT Low on fluid. We shall see.  Hope it is okay. A dad can only do what a dad can do.

Home from a busy Mayor's day.  Did get a free meal tonight of eastern NC bar-b-q and fried chicken.  My buddy the Sheriff was sworn in again.

Kev, sounds like you have a winner truck.  Mine gets 15 to 16 with old 350 and towing nothing.  Funny, use to get 18 to 19.  I think its poor gas even though I buy brand name gas.

Good evening all,

Doug M, Thanks for the update.   Hmmm, that is interesting.  That is the second time one has been observed "in store", and yet I do not have mine yet nor any indication that I will get it soon.  I think a call to Lionel and then to the dealer is in order tomorrow.  Today was spent playing catch up at work.  Got a lot done today, and hope to have labs all done tomorrow with case report work to start Wednesday.   Long day.  Wife is starting to decorate house.  Tree will have to wait until weekend.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening all!

Been awhile.. Had a nice chat with RT Thanksgiving Eve. He had a TMCC CAB1 issue which turned out to be a bad battery. Everything worked except the red dial throttle. Low voltage apparently ran everything except the infrared LED that the throttle uses.

Got a mild bug Thanksgiving day and just got over it today. Had flu shot so assume it was a mild virus.

Had a great Thanksgiving holiday with multiple dinners at relatives, friends, and home..

Kev - I really like the tow capability of our Tahoe. Same platform as Silverado. Unfortunately after years of long distance towing had to have the ring and pinion in the differential replaced. No cost as I bought the super extended warranty (5 yrs) so it is good until 2016. I have gotten my money's worth on that (other issues came up along the way, includes loaner car anytime I go in and have to leave it).

Temps dropped here from 70s last night to 36 this morning and temps continued to drop. Grilled out on the patio last night. Exercising our cord of firewood tonight.

Regards, Roy

Howdy guys - happy December 1st!  We had an ice/freezing rain morning so I used a personal day and goofed off.  I did finally finish editing my last train video and you can watch it on Youtube to see where I'm at on my layout projects here   I hope that link works - this was shot with my camera I got for my birthday and the picture seems really good for video to me.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Morning.  From supper warm to cold.  Cloudy and misty.  Off to see Will Allen's O gauge layout.  Some may have seen it in a past issue of OGR.  He is on committees with me.  Been wanting me to come and visit.

Have a good day.

Good morning all,

Finished off the last of the turkey last night with creamed turkey over rice.

Wife has doctor appointment this morning.

Rain has started lightly this AM but expect heavier later today.  Got my yard prepared for run off with sump pumps on stand by.  Cleaned out some drains leading to French drain.  We haven't had a real test of it since we installed it because we got so little rain last year.  Got some sand bags in front of garage door.  It has been flooded twice in the last 30 odd years.  Everything in there is on stilts including the trains so no direct water danger but too much moisture would be bad too just in the air.

V8, I pay $88 for teeth cleaning but I only have about 10 left.  I get a 10% senior discount and I have to do it about every three months because of deep pockets that trap plaque in spite of flosing and brushing.

Good evening all,

Not a good day.  Normal one hour commute took 3 hours as freezing rain turned Indiana highways in one chunk of glazed ice and parking lots.   Made it in ok despite taking the truck and having the back end want to get away from me on more than one occasion.  Fortunately I worked thru lunch hour on Monday and Tuesday so I could leave on time today.   Today was long day working on lab imports as nothing went right there either.   Did make it home ok as well, but went to a church program which wife had said we had seen before.  Wasn't until they were about halfway thru that I realized we had seen it before.   Started late and ran too long.   Talked to Lionel about trolley and now will have to call dealer to see where it is.  Ridiculous.  Thought this would be a good place to work with.  Now not so sure.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning.  Cloudy, foggy, misty and cool.  Clearing later.  More errand to run today.

Will Allen's new layout is something.  It is "head high".  Has "duck unders" to maneuver around the room.  Real nice and detailed.

Hope all have a great day.

Aloha. Sunnier today and not as cold. What a saga, Mike! Glad you got home safe. I'm sure the trolley will surface soon.  It's always great to visit an interesting layout, Chief!

Hi, Thought I would look in.

Roy my truck is a 2011 with 33K. Hope the rear gear will be okay, I don't do much towing anymore liked I used to.

Ray, $88.00 to clean 10 teeth sounds like a lot to me. We pay $60.00 for all of them. Stick out tongue

I am finding out getting the new TV is going to be a lot easier than finding a place to get rid of the old one.  :( No one takes CRT TVs these days. Goodwill will take the old PC so I better get rid of that while I still can.

Seems that the bulb I changed on Sunday was not the issue with the 70 watt high pressure sodium shed light. Ballast took a dump. (again) I have not been able to get more than 4 years out of these. This is the second one on the shed and it is only three years old. :-S  Oh Joy,,,,Ho Ho Ho just what I needed at this time of year.  >:D
Any ideas guys on something better for a outdoor dusk to dawn security fixture that will last and not break the bank running??? I won't buy any Cooper lighting products again.

Went to Walmart this morning and got the MIL and worthless BIL a new Vizio 28" HDTV to replace their 1985 24" set. Would of got something bigger but this was as big as I could get that would fit in their entertainment cabinet. Price was one dollar less in the store than on line. Also picked up a hand held mixer for Katie that she needs.

That about all from here on the North Bluff.

Have a good day.

KRM - if you have a Best Buy near by call them. Most have recycling services where you just drop the old set off and leave. I got rid of two broken sets that my old renters left for me! Really ticks me off how much damage they did to the house, mess they left for me to clean up, and debris for me to get rid of... Sigh

Evening all!

Mike C - what a mess.. Long overdue here for big ice storm. Hope it stays that way.

Kev - you can check Best Buys web site on recycling and they will tell you what each store accepts. All of them do not accept everything. If they will not take the TV they may be able to tell you who will.  Our city has partners for electronics recycling and 1 or 2 days a year where they set up at city hall for a free dump of all electronics and free doc shredding.

Warming up here quickly. 60/70 by weekend with some light rain.

Dennis, Don, and Ray and CA folks. Send the heavy rain this way! I know Don is not in a mudslide area. Hope the same for you Ray and Dennis.

Met briefly with HR yesterday and told them we need to meet to discuss my moving towards retiring. It's time.

Regards, Roy

Brent and Roy, Thanks but,,,,,,,the closest Best Buy is 43 miles away. I hear they burn good and then they are scrap metal. Pirate I did get rid of the old PC at GoodWill  .I did take out the hard drive first.

Yeah,,,,,renters suck. Been there and done that. Ran a 6 unit for my brother for 3 years back in the 70s. Made me decide not to get into rental property.I only rented to young women,,,,,,then,,,,,,worked for me!!!!!  Stick out tongue Best renters are middle aged men with a job.

Hope you guys out there in the rain on the left coast hang in there and don't get any damage.

Count down it close, just a few things for the grand-kids on Katie's side and I am done. Wink

Worked on the car/tractor show scene today and am about done for now. Will try to post some pictures when things dry in place.

Composed our annual Christmas card letter today and sent out the things. Glad it is done. The list seems to get shorter every year. Used to be over 50 now down to 18.  Tongue Tied

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Plastic, silicone boards, and a pressurized CRT tube? I don't think I would want to be anywhere near that fire! 43 miles isn't that bad to safely dispose of a highly toxic CRT TV.

Good evening all,

Easier drive in to work today.  Tomorrow could be dicey, though.  Trolley is suppose to ship next week according to dealer.   Talkative coworker stayed home today so I got a lot done.   Basically got 6 days of work done in one.   Slow time of year helps.  Other pains were wracking body for a while today, but got over those.  Thought stitches were about healed and now it looks as if they being absorbed too quickly.   Will see how they look in the morning.  Hate to go see doctor again before next appointment.   Yeah, disposing of old tech equipment can be interesting at times.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there,

Managed to kill a doe on Monday. First deer I've got in a couple of years.

Chief.......I suspect if you got straight gas without ethanol you mileage would return.

On another note give the CPAP a chance. I've used mine for near 15 years. Took a bit of getting used to but I feel way better. Before I had it I'd get awake in the morning and feel like I never slept. One night with out it screws me up for a couple of days.

Roy.........Congas on retirement. If what I've heard is true within a couple of months you'll wonder how you had time to work?

Good Evening,

Enjoying the rain, yesterday we accumulated 3/4 inch when we went to bed.  This morning the rain gauge was empty.  Think we have a leak.  Raining pretty good tonight as well.   Will be sending the partial empties on to Bob, then Roy.

Had a Dr appt today, he was pleased with the bone healing progress, STILL at least another 6 weeks in a cast though!  UGH!!  So ended up with a seasonal cast........

Roy retire?  Believe it when I see it.  Hopefully sooner than later.  Suggestion when that time comes stay away from steam engines.

Dinner ready, talk with you all later.

Be SAFE and stay Healthy.

Good morning all,

Don, good job on the new "Christmas" cast.

Looks like TCA and TTOS have scheduled their Christmas meets on the same weekend.  TCA on Saturday with Pot Luck lunch and TTOS on Sunday.  I will be lucky if I can go to either due to my care giving duties.  Son may be here on Saturday but not Sunday.  Don't see much of him lately since he has a new girl friend.

Temp is 58 and cloudy/misty this morning.  Will postpone my walk until it warms up a little.  Paper says we had the perfect rain storm with little damage but enough to end the fire season.  Hope Roy gets some of the same.

Have a good day,

Ray
