Good Sunday Evening All!

Busy at work, working a lot more than the usual hours the past few weeks. Had a great week. Thur. night we went to da Bronx to see Jeter's last game there. It was awesome. Really a classy guy. And to win the game on his final at bat really topped it off.

Also on Thur. my son finally popped the question to his gal of many years so a wedding is in the future.

Fife - Only 30 houses? Man, you are in for a long ordeal!

Ray - I don't regret getting rid of our above ground pool once the kids stopped using it. A lot of work as you well know. I must admit though on really hot days, coming home from work, it was nice.

Later..................

Good morning all,

Picked up engine at train meet yesterday that was pronounced dead with stripped gear and brought it home.  Will figure out what to do with it in the future.

Vacumned swimming pool yesterday and discovered that the pool filter tank has sprung a leak.  I think it is just a gasket in the drain plug.  Thought it was a crack in the tank at first.  The tank is made out of fiberglass I think.  Pool service wants $75 for service call but will deduct if I need a new tank.  Maybe I can fix it myself it I can get the old drain plug out.

Got just enough rain this morning to mess up the car but hosed it down in time for church.

Went out to eat with church friend last night but we are becoming bored going out with this same guy every week end.  I think he has adopted us.  We need a break but I don't know how to let him down easy without hurting his feelings.  Wife has short attention span with him and wants to leave after we finish eating but he wants to sit around and talk.

Chief, I identify with the gun rack problem.  I have the same thing with too many trains.  I have no place to put anymore.  Need to sell or quit buying.  Sorry to hear about unwanted visits from relative's dogs.  That would turn me off too.  I guess it's true that we cannot choose our relatives but thank the Lord we can choose our friends.

Ray

Bruce If I can do the install you can it really straight forward goto

 http://www.electricrr.com/Manuals/CruiseCmdr-Inst.pdf

this is the instruction for putting in cruise commander as this over just ac or dc commander this will keep your train at a consent speed up and down hills. But so you can see how easy it is to install now if you have ( since I went thru it and took some back and forth with ERR tech ) a modern engine that will run on AC or DC theres a little trick to them and I can guide you thru that real easy.

Morning all. Chief Some time you just have to tell them. Because there use to doing and think there's nothing wrong with it. Or you all should show up at there place one day uninvited with your dogs and see how they feel. Wink

Not much going on today. Time to make some sunday morning breakfast seeing it's still morning. Hope you all have a good day

Good morning.  We now have internet at the lake, so I can keep better track of things on weekends.

Plate Rail....When I have installed ERR kits, I have found it is better to print the instructions from their website in color.  The instructions sent with the unit are in B&W.  Also, Boxcar Bill's photos on his website offer some really good ideas on installation of ERR.   As you can see in the photo below, it is easy for a smart engineer to wire. LaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh

Sunny good morning.  SIL and her Granddaughter walked in last night to spend the night.  Brought two dogs. Bang Head  Why we are selling the lake house.  That use to happen every weekend but both sisters, kids, grand kids and dogs.  Uninvited.  Would not have been so bad if they would leave there dogs home.

Who know what the routine is for today. ????

Hope all have a great week.

Yep, got both Legacy and TMCC, Chief.  Since those 2 engines are pretty much 027 in design I'll save them for conventional running.  But I do have a few scale engines ( MTH ) that will need TMCC and have gotten the skinny from RT on the ERR kits.  An MTH GG1 in particular needs it badly although I must say it works flawlessly in conventional.   I'd like to try the install myself...just to see if it's possible for me to upgrade without killing the patientWink

Some of the other TMCC equipped engines I own could benefit from Odessy.  Once you have one engine with speed control you get spoiled.

Plate, think I read you have TMCC and Legacy.  Convert those K-Lines to TMCC with ERR kits.  That is what I am doing [actually Don B is doing some for me.  Rehab you know Wink].  There is one of our brothers on here that sells them.  They run great and put in Sound Commander and they have sound.

Fifey, you will love this.  Opened back hatch to Wifey's CRV and there was a box with light up flamingo with Santa hat. Laugh

Trespassers was Lady's son [hadn't seen in 10 years] and his GF.  Sent photos to their cousin who hunts some with us and lives next door the the Mom.  He will not harm anything.  Has new 4 wheeler and knows not to ride during season.  Glad about that.

Added another row to gun safe.  Needed too.  Had more guns [rifles and shotguns] than spaces.  Can't add anymore.  Guess I will have to stop buying.

Later.

Good evening all

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Spent some time operating the little tubular mainline while running in a K- Line MP15 and the recently acquired Lionel GP7.  After some time the throttle could be cut back a bit on both engines.  Neither one had had any appreciable running time in the past judging from the wheel or roller wear.

Apart from the break ins ( I didn't just sit there watching trains go in circles Zzz ), I finally tackled the minor nightmare that's been bothering me for years.  In an attempt to replace a traction tire on a PRR Atlantic E6 I ended up with an electrical short.  It effectively shelved one of my best runners and no previous attempts at finding the fault were successful.  Today, after a tear-down I spotted a small nut wedged between the angled motor and the chassis, right where the center rail pickup wire connects.  BINGO!  Back together now and seems to work fine after all these years.  Never give up the fight!Thumbs Up

After some running of the layout on TMCC there's really no substitute for Legacy.  The low speed ability in Legacy is sorely missed.  Will ship out mine for the upgrades ASAP.

Bruce

Bruce have you set your controller ( Cab1 for 100 steps ) I have a Legacy engine with my tmcc cab-1 controller set for the 100 steps and I can make her craw In fact the other day I had her down to like 3 mph pulling 18 cars behind her. also setting it for heavy load will also help on slow running.

Thanks RT...I'll do some reading up and see about adjusting the speed steps.  I've been away from all this new fangled stuff for so long.  the engines in question were not Legacy examples...I only have one of those...the initial offering of the CN SD40-2.  I was one of those poor schmucks who pre-ordered and waited and waited and waited for Legacy to arrive.

I run only have one legacy engine also, but still the 100 step speed control does help but you won't get what you get out of Legacy with normal tmcc engines.

Bruce I have an old tube model Tabletop Zenith that still works only problem is the volume control need to be replaced as its either very low or very loud but still works great.

I'm sure you've tried some tuner cleaner on the volume pot already so it sounds as ifthe carbon trace within the pot is cracked, which is usually the reason for the symptom you described.  Changing the pot out is easy...the tough part is finding one of the correct value and size.  What Model is the Zenith?

No lol I don't use it its more for decoration but it is here will get a model number tomorrow.

I will have to get back to a bit of radio repair before I leave for Hershey.  I have a few desirable auto related radios that I'm sure will sell well there.  Just love lightening the wallets of Americans.Pirate

Good morning all,

Sitting here listening to music from the roaring twenties and flapper era that I have on CD.  Feel like I'm in a time warp.  Entertaining stuff with the  likes of Paul Whiteman, Bix Beiderbecke et al.

Don, glad you are getting such good treatement from the VA.  My son works at the VA at their West L.A. Campus.  I'm sure he will be glad to hear some positive feedback.  Your opportunity to get into DCC sounds challenging but I'm sure you'll figure it out.  Don, did you already know you had type II diabetes or did they just diagnose it?  I just found out I had it recently.  So far just diet and excercise recommended.

Dinner out last night at Mexican restaurant near us.  Ate too much.  Back on diet today.

My friend Larry says they are going on a group trip with local senior center to New Mexico and Arizona.  Hope it's in the Winter.  Other than the Grand Canyon, don't remember much in that neck of the woods.

later,

Ray

Yea I read that guys statement. Did not comment back. 30w motor oil is fine but Lionel trains have been running with Lubes for over a hundred years...Nuff said about that.

Sunny and 70s all week. Finally....no rain for awhile.
