Ray: Join the club. This summer, here in Orlando, has been an "Electric Bill Killer" (even with decent insulation and thermostat monitoring). The weatherman says relief is on its way. Hope he doesn't mean a hurricane!
DemayGood afternoon, It's been quite some time since I last posted but the move and new location have kept us busy. We are almost settled in here in Dayton but we still have a few boxes to unpack. The kids are enjoying their new schools and the area is fantastic so far. The job here keeps me busy and on the road a bit, but it is fun. I think I am too far behind on the Pot to catch up on the posts, but I should be able to post more frequently. Chuck - How are you doing? Thanks for the emails. Regards, Joe

Joe......Good to hear from you. Welcome to Ohio.
I am doing fine. Cool weather helps.
I figured you were busy with unpacking and the new job. I hope your family likes it here.
See ya later,
Chuck
Good morning all,
Chief, hope your problem is only a reaction to meds. Be careful.
Hot days predicted for next three. 102,104,104. September is always a hot month here. My electric bill is always the most expensive in September. Heard about a discount available from the power company for people that use medical devices such as oxygen concentrators. I have one but only use it at night. Doctor has to fill out forms to qualify. It's worth a try. My electric bill is outrageous. Well over $300 a month in the summer. My house does not have good insulation but it would cost more to insulate it than it's worth. I don't think I would live long enough to break even. Should have done something 20 years ago. Hind sight is always 20/20.
D. Baker, I sent an E mail to the repair guy in Virginia a few days ago but so far, no answer. Maybe I talked to him before about this. Can't remember. When you said he goes by GGG that rang a bell.
Saw a photo on another forum of a train ride I took in 1967 with a group of friends who chartered an open platform heavyweight observation car and had it on the rear of a Santa Fe mail train between Los Angeles and Barstow and return the next day. It was a great trip. We had Alco PA's and PB's on the point. Sadly some of the guys on that trip have passed on now.
later,
Ray

Chief did he rule out Shingles? Could be.
Hopefully it's just the meds he gave you.

Chief........That does not sound good.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Wake up guys. Cloudy and drizzly. 60% chance of rain.
Rolesville Chamber has its big bar-b-q cook off today. 70 entries. Pork and chicken. I am a judge. Also do the children's train driving routine all day. Mayors never get sick. [legs and feet still look horrible and had head sweats all night].
Have a great weekend.

Whoa Chief take care of yourself big fella!
Mornin' boys. Blue Crew here and gone. I feel better now, as the sensor he replaced was in a location I never could've got to on my own. Now the princesses can have extra towels for their Hindu-head-wraps. Wish all service experiences went this well.
Good night all. Hope I am reacting to the antibiotic I'm taking. Came home from the farms. Got ready to shower. "Houston we have a problem." Legs from knees down and all of feet covered in a dark red looking rash. Under the skin. Its that or hemorrhage under the skin [which I do not think it is]. Did reclinerize with pillow behind my head. Just woke up with it soaked and upper part of tee soaked. ??
Stopped taking the med and sent my Dr.s an electronic message [can do that now].
Off to bed.
dougdagrump Bruce, Not sure of when your last visit to "Tuba Man's" mite have been but the original joint was on University Ave but later moved to the Adams Ave area. Understand that the later joint is long gone. He was quite a character at the Padres games, marching around the stadium playing his tuba with a bunch of fans following behind, almost like a Conga line. You jogged the old grey matter, Doug. I do recall being told of the antics of the Tube Man during Padre games. But then that was way back in 1978 when I visited the bar. Much water and dead brain cells have since gone under the bridge. What did I know of baseball back then? The Bluejays were only a year old at that time. "I'm always amazed at the wonderfully preserved cars in So Cal as long as they stay out of the heat, sun and ocean spray." Much the same can be said about us old farts out here as well. I send my old farts down that way in the winter and they seem to be holding up pretty good. Mom and Dad have a home in Santa Ana.

Aloha all. Cold and grey and dark. Shouldn't the sun be up by now behind the clouds? Ran Ivor last night to stretch his legs on the layout. Have some sprucing up to do - of both the layout and the basement - before 'layout season' starts in earnest.

Mornin' boys. Pleasant 68 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Was detailed to the Star Spangled March yesterday, at which time the BLUE ANGELS showed up. They spent the afternoon practicing over me. Awesome, simply awesome. I want one. When I went to pick Fifepup up at the Inner Harbor (his car's in the body shop...again ), I got to inspect the EAGLE. Again, awesome. Learned that she will call Curtis Bay (around the corner from my yatchet) her home port for the next few years. The boy took some photos I hope to post for y'all.
TGIF. POTUS detail this afternoon.
33 weeks.
Morning all. Was sick most of yesterday afternoon. Better today. Headed to the farms to sow some food plots. Good thing, All I have to do is sow the seeds. Not much work in that.
Hope all have a great day.
Ray - sorry for your loss of your friend. Just got caught up. Thanks for the well wishes and prayers, Char is doing a lot better now, but gave her another course of antibiotics just to be sure. I went through some more tubs and found a lot of treasures including the Clinton Dewitt set which is legendary in my heart and also some unopened shipping boxes from other stuff that came in the mail from preorders during times when Charlene was in a hospital. I decided at the time that I would wait and open them when she was cured and I was getting ready for another layout - maybe I'll do a video of opening those up and all, run the CD?
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Plate Rail dougdagrump Weather guessers are warning that come Monday it is going to be hotter than heck, 90's along the coast and 100+ inland. SDG&E will be licking their chops over my bill. Boy, do I remember the heat in SD area. Us pasty white Canucks couldn't take much of that stuff. I vaguely recall a few cool hours spent at The Tuba Man back in my drinking days. Wonder it that bar is still there? IIRC an aquaintance in Fallbrook had a narrow gauge Porter with track set up around his country estate. Had a hand in dragging a dormant 1957 Mercury turnpike cruiser convertible out of its 30 year old slumber down that way. I'm always amazed at the wonderfully preserved cars in So Cal as long as they stay out of the heat, sun and ocean spray.

Winter arrived overnight.
Downpours of rain yesterday but not much flooding this time.
Some nice things in the new Lionel catalog but I have quit buying.

Aloha from a cool, grey day - won't reach 60. Quite a drop for this time of the year. Grocery shopped, cleaned, paid a big tuition bill, did laundry. Now to work!
Good Mornin' All.
A "Day Of Remembrance Today" or as I prefer to say "We Will Never Forget".
All packed for tomorrow, I'll be the "Chef de Jour". Shrimp Creole and Garlic Toast is on the menu with all ingredients being low or no salt except the shrimp.
Chief, You should have seen what my stomach looked like when during a hospital stay in the cardiac care unit they were required to give me an anti-bloodclotting shot. The entire abdominal area was every shade of black-n-blue to purple-n-yellow you could imagine.
Picking up a couple of MTH 3volt batteries, one is an immediate need the other is for future use.
Got some things to work on.
Later all !
Early out. Dr. put implants in right hip. Got to ice all day or will look like I was hit by baseball bat.
9-11 luncheon.
Still tired. Going to be lazy today.
No rain!!! Sun is out. Tomorrow, another story. One says scattered showers in morning. Another says late afternoon. ?????
Later.
It is a rainy 70 degrees. Going up to 74 with more rain.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of chores to do and a project to work on. Then, lunch and a nice nap.
Usual breakfast on the dining car.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
ever thought of converting them to tmcc with electrocouplers
rtraincollector Bruce thats exactly why they are offering it they have the molds and this way they keep it in use lol

And in the correct road name and all, RT! Funny that I just pulled my set of RDC's out of deep storage last week. Gave them a lube job and after a test run I rediscovered their main issue...the couplers wouldn't hold tight, often leaving the dummy stranded. Then I remembered why I spent $15,000 on orthodontics for the wife...an endless supply of tiny elastic bands. Slipped one around the neck of each coupler and they positively locked closed. A perfect fix for any of the coupler type that have the magnetic button. I'm ready for any local runs now!

Evening all. just been a ho hum day just haven't been feeling like doing anything lately need to get myself doing things again.
Hope all doing well prayers for all
Evening all!
Humid and cloudy all day and now it's pouring. Supposed to be only in the low 60's tomorrow. It's true what they say about Toronto...only two seasons...winter and construction.
The new Lionel catalog got my heart racing a bit so I made up a greedy little list for Xmas.
Santa needs to bring me a NYC ten wheeler so that I finally have something in steam with Legacy. Sure, the big steam is nice but I still can't watch a big boy on a 072 curve without cringing.
A 3 pack of hoppers...no preference...just surprise me.
The strangest offering in the catalog is the unpowered RDC Budd car. All by itself it just seems weird they'd offer it that way. Still, it's exactly what I need. It would be a perfect addition to the powered baggage and dummy coach from the late '70's that I already have.
fifedog Mornin' boys. Grumpy and 68 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Tried fixing the dryer.
