Thanks, Doug! Pirate

We'll stay with that theme, and I'll share some of the pics that Fifepup took during the StarSpangled200.

Don, sorry about the loss of the extension.   Got overuled by the Superintendent I suspect.  BTW what is a "Bump" yard.  Must be a typo.  You probably meant hump yard.  I never knew about the tent on the roof.  You are just full of surprises.

Chief, prayers for quick recovery from RMSF.  That sounds like bad stuff.  Must be carried by wood ticks?  Get well soon.

Very nice station Bruce. I have a couple of Mobil pick up service trucks., Nice trucks and one comes with a gas pump. You may like them too.

Do an e-bay look for these.

Yes, strangely enough, NC is one of the leading [if not the #1] states for cases of RMSF and deaths from it. ????

Trying to behave.  Going to Hunters Haven and hang out.  That's not stressful.  Canceled trip to Athens GA this weekend.  May be too far away from "home medical" just in case.

Looks like fall is here.

Brutus, tell Char she listen to me so I have to listen to her.

Fifey, CBS news showed a harbor in Baltimore this am.  Saw tall ship along with a lot of yatchets.

Actually the tent on top of Don's garage is where Kay put him.  He will not behave [dog house].

Have a good one.

Brutus,

Sure, still have the tent on the garage.  Not using it for trains anymore.  Chris is using it to process some of the rocks he collects.

However, the extended classification yard into the dinning room didn't survive.  And it actually included a Bump Yard as well, but I lost that one....

Looking good, Kev and Charlie :)

Chief - Charlene says you get better ASAP!  No resting!  You have a lot of work to do :)

Dougnotta - Great project, hope you can keep your cool!

DougM - good luck on the paint dude!

Bruce - where is the caboose, I looked twice and missed it?

Don Baker - remember when you were building that add-on room for your trains, that was a big project just in itself!  Do you still have the tent on the roof?

Lots of posts, but glad to see everyone is up and doing stuff - I need to get more done, but we have been busy with stuff around here and Char was sick.  She's better now and so things are getting back on track.  Got my mitersaw out to the garage the other day and I expect to have a few hours Saturday between work and a concert to cut some 2x4s myself.  I need to get some work done to get a Halloween Layout done :)

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

KRM:  Great looking oil facility!  Having 2 oil derricks and now a working drum loader I should probably look into getting one of those platforms if I'm gonna include oil refining as revenue on my RR.

Thanks Bruce, I don't fit too well here. But,,,

Here is the rest of the oil facility,  I have made them Mobil Oil. and will do the same with the filling station when I finish it up. I made these tanks out of PVC, even made one for Fifedog, They are okay for me and were fun to make. Wink

Good evening (Good morning Chuck),

Today’s weather was perfect once again.  It was sunny and the high topped out around 70.  It was in the upper-40s when I went out for a four-mile jog around 0600 and it felt great.  The family is well now.  The older son has a baseball game this even and his team lost; he played okay.  He plays in a fall league, but I am not coaching.  My work schedule is more demanding here so I do not have the time to coach any sports.  It is tough to be a spectator after coaching so many years.  We splurged and had pizza for dinner.  I was watching the TNF game between the Buccaneers and Falcons but it is not much of a game.

Dougdagrump – Stay safe and fun at the dance.

SP Ray and Chief – Get well soon.

Time for bed,

Joe

Evening all!

Another cool one today.  We're supposed to drop to freezing tonight.  Somebody forgot that fall begins at the end of summer, not winter.

SP: I can certainly understand why a swamper unit  becomes ineffective during high humidity.  One of the reasons why you never see them here in the northeast where heat is always accompanied by humidity.

Spent some time tuning up a few accessories that suffered from neglect.  Tore down a Lionel reissue of the American Flyer drum loader that would hardly move.  It must have been run till it got so slow  that the forklift mechanism couldn't perform its load and dump function.  A tiny bit of oil and grease got it working just fine.  One more reason to get a tubular layout built.

As many of you might be aware, our internationally known Toronto mayor has cancer.   Kinda goes to show  that high stress, over working and self medicating will eventually take it's toll.

KRM:  Great looking oil facility!  Having 2 oil derricks and now a working drum loader I should probably look into getting one of those platforms if I'm gonna include oil refining as revenue on my RR.

Went to the LHS and all I got was a new Lionel catalog.  Was looking over a 97 coal elevator they had but $175 seemed  pretty steep.  I'll wait and see what can be found at Hershey.

Good afternoon all,

Went to doctor this afternoon to follow up on pluerisy.  He thinks it is all cleared up now.  Next appointment in November.

Been watching the Ken Burns special this week about TR and FDR.  Some good railroad shots from the periods.

Hoping to go to hear my friend Larry who plays drums in a Dixieland Jazz Band on Saturday.  This will be his last regular job with them after many years in the band.  He says he will still sub once in a while when they need him though.  Just hope the weather is not too hot.  It is outdoors at a historic venue from the Spanish days in early California.  They have a historic adobe house and cemetery there.  They usually have two bands going at the same time but I will stay put this time with Larry's group.  Have to get there early to get a parking spot close by.  They also have flapper dancers and vintage cars on display.  I want to take my wife too if she is up to it.

Don, have a nice visit with your brother.

I saturated the straw pads in the swamp cooler with water today to see if it made any difference in case the pump was not supplying enough water.  Does not seem to improve any.  Probably still have too much humidity in the air.  Meanwhile, still using the regular air conditioners and paying through the nose.

later,

Ray

Looks good Bruce,

I agree with a little weathering and maybe some Dullcoat to get rid of the plastic shine.

Here is what I was working on today.  a new to me MTH Tank car filling station. Light weathering and added Walter on the catwalk.

Good Evening,

Bruce, the caboose is great, really a nice picture!!!  Its perfect the way it is!

Dougdg, What a great compliment and honor, you've got to be really proud of that!  (Father/Daughter Dance). Congrats!!!

Should be having a visitor tomorrow, my brother is coming down from Reno.  Will be pleasant.

Today was a little bit cooler, but still hot.  Hopefully will be getting better in the next couple of days, before the Santa Ana's hit.

Take care all, and stay healthy!

Good Evenin' All.

Temps came down a few degrees today, only 101* instead of 107*. San Diego got hit pretty good yesterday, one of those freaky cells that dumps a bunch of rain w/lightening and some really strong winds. Some flooding, downed trees even a few Palm Trees caught fire from strikes. One of the local puddle jumper airports got hit hard, a hanger ripped up and 5 or 6 planes heavily damaged. Couldn't believe that the winds were strong enuff to straighten the "S" hooks used to chain down the planes. The worst part for us though is the AC crapped out and all the repair guys are backed up with jobs til next week. CryingGrumpy

Gonna be busy the next few days with club meeting tomorrow nite, run day Friday, then on Saturday I have been asked to do the "Father/Daughter Dance" with a young lady that has been part of our extended family since she was in gradeschool. She has really become quite an individual that anybody would be proud to have as part of the family.

Gotta run !

Good evening,

The sick family was just about to 100% today and should be back to normal tomorrow.  I had a few meetings and plenty of paperwork to keep me busy during the workday.  The weather here has been great.  The highs are in the upper 60s, maybe low 70s and the sun is shining.  I’m off to bed early tonight as I need to wake up early to run.

Chuck – I’m glad you’re back online.  I’m loving this weather.

Doug M. – Wright-Patterson is a few miles from the Dayton Airport, not associated with it.  The U.S. Air Force museum is near Wright-Patterson and it is a great museum.

Bruce – The work caboose looks great.

Good night,

Joe

Evening all,

Cool and sunny again....which kinda sums up the whole summer here.

Cobbled together a work caboose over the last few days.  I think I prefer silver in place of the white so probably will repaint then weather to suit.  Never know when one of them TMCC boom cars happens along.

Good Afternoon from Blueberryhill........

Good Afternoon,  Joe.......

Well,  our Internet has been down since Monday afternoon. It just came back on. I asked if they would credit our account for the days without service,  and they could not find an answer.

All is OK here. Cool at night and about 70 during the day. No rain. A nice breeze. Great weather.

Y'all have a nice day and evening and maybe, I'll see ya in the AM.

Doug, Dennis is right about two train rides in Griffith Park.  The live steamers operate on weekends with 1 and 1 half inch scale trains as well as a 1" scale track.  The big ones carry the most passengers.  There is another train that runs around an oval track at Travel Town where there is some vintage railroad equipment on display.  I think the live steamers don't operate much steam except maybe once a month.  They run a lot of diesels in between for the public and at least one steam engine each time.
