Home from the hills with trusty rifle in hand. No big antlers so just watched them eat corn and walk away. Had super frost while I was hunting. Figuring out when I'm going back. Was planning on Thursday afternoon and come back Friday night. Forecast is for scattered showers Friday. ????
As for my special project that RT found out about. The wheel barrow is to howl all my graft and corruption money to the bank.
As for Rich, we had our eye on him as soon as he landed. Just let him pass through. He was on a good mission to see the Princess.
As for the Sox. May they die. Any call against them is a great call. [says all NY Yankee fans].

Mornin' FellasNot sure where to begin... Friday The Q, ThePs, and I, went and did some errands when we got home. After dinner, stop at the wholesale club, bank, Boscov's, ice cream store for TheQ's b-day cake (her b-day isn't till next week but for some reason we start celebrating it two weeks early and then the entire month of November [sometimes I think she is related to Buckeye]), we were too beat when we got home to do anything - so off to la-la-land.Saturday it was up before the roosters, started a fire in the fireplace (because well minus the snow you would have thought it was the middle of Winter), make breakfast, get ThePs ready, get ready and head back out... stopped and got the emissions tested on the Murano (passed), then to jewelry store for The Q's b-day gift (OUCH), then to a mall to get new luggage as a b-day gift from The Q's father, stop at grocery store, home. Get food prepped for family b-day gathering, stoke the fire, not sure what the heck else I did, then it was off to b-day celebration... back home - saw the PSU/OSU score, stoked the fire, went to bed.Sunday got up, stoked the fire, mowed the leaves, removed some vines from a stump in the front yard (been bothering me for 6 years), removed a weed that had turned into a tree by the stump, cut down an even larger weed/tree nearby... result = more sunlight for a rather large area of grass. Next up is to remove the rotten stump, grade the area, plant grass next Spring. Came inside, stoked the fire, fell asleep on the couch...REALLY want to get down to the train room to do the review on the track cleaning car... just need more hours in a day...

Good morning all,
Joe, have to agree that the interference call in the last game was the correct one, if not the most desireable way to end a game. Even the Sox manager said it was correct but he didn't like the rule. They got even last night though with the Card rookie getting himself thrown out at first while asleep at the switch. Wouldn't want to be in his shoes after the game.
Forcast in the Times called for a "little" rain tomorrow but we are having drizzle today. A lot cooler too so maybe we can cook something tonight without heating up the kitchen.

Good Afternoon,
Had a good weekend, watched the Nascar Race, helped Kay on Saturday, and just hung around the rest of the time.
Had Dr appt this morning, was the GP, not anything to do with the accident. She was surprised to see the shape I was in, but said to keep on doing what I have been, cause the numbers are really good.
Doing some maintenance stuff on the computer, expanding our data base. Should be able to get back to the train room tomorrow..
Glad to see the Chief posting again. He is going to need to hire a Driver to make sure he gets to all his vacation spots on time. That way he can sleep while enroute.

Doug....I agree. I need to head to the LHS to purchase another tube of white grease after putting it on the Williams FM. Every Williams I own has needed grease and a little axle oil. With ERR inside they just run so smooth even at very slow speeds. I also have replaced the lights with Evans LEDs.

Good evening all,
Work was quiet, but accomplished what I set out to do today. For the first time in years, I have a train on a table on the main floor of the house. Not much but it is a start.
Mike C. from Indiana
Konbanwa,
Last night's flag football practice went well considering two of the players were not there. The kids seem excited so we should have a good season. The workday flew by and then when I took the daughter to her first volleyball practice this evening, I found out her team did not have a coach yet. Well, the princess really wants to try playing volleyball so I volunteered to coach the team. This is going to be interesting as I have never coached volleyball before. I have played in intramural leagues before, but nothing seriously competitive. I also have never coached a team of girls before, let alone girls aged 12-15. My next few weeks will be busy as I have flag football practices on Mondays and Wednesdays and volleyball on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All the games are played on Saturdays so I will need a parent to coach the volleyball team for the games as I cannot be two places at the same time. Based on the times, I might be able to make some of the games. I normally would not over commit like this, but I could not let my daughter miss an opportunity to try a sport.
Doug M. - AL solidarity goes out the window when it's the Sox.
SP Ray - I think the Sox have the momentum now, and I fear they will have another championship.
Brent - Let me know when you figure out how to find more hours in the day.
Mike C. - Congratulations on the train table. I am a long way from the type of maneuver.
Sayonara,
Joe
Joe not sure what you where referring to Brent but with daylight savings time coming to an end reminds me of a old Indian tale
When the old wise Indian was told of Daylight savings time he shook his head and said " Only the government would cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom and expect it to be longer."
With that I leave you all as heading out the door to a retirement seminar ( I'm just over a year away)

Good Morning from Blueberryhill........
It is a frosty 30 degrees. Going up to 70 today with sunshine.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and a little paperwork. Then, I can relax and enjoy my latest copy of CTT. Lunch and a nap, later.
Usual breakfast on the dining car.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Aloha. This is the week when I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. Not that daylight savings time will help much but I'm still looking forward to it. Brent must've been sending out some track-cleaning vibes because that's what I did last night for a while with the game in the background. But I do it the old fashioned way, with a cloth and sometimes one of those erasers I kept from my days in the smaller scales - and then run Ivor pulling the home-made Scotchgard car around the track. Fortunately, our basement doesn't have much dust. Looking forward to that review, Brent.BL2s are kind of cute-ugly. They had some great pain schemes...

Morning all. Real warm for Oct. Suppose to be that way all week. Probably hitting the road Thursday by noon to hunting camp. Back Friday night unless rain hits early. Sat. is Fall Festival with free hot dogs for all.
Did get in the Box for a few last night.
Glad to see Williams using more wire hand rails. Those big stamped metal ones turned me off. Buckeye has done a great job of converting his with ERR kits.
Roy, is that you putting the skyscraper on the layout in Dallas getting it ready to go to Grand Central? Looks like you in the CTT photo.
Each day now gets Shake and Bake closer to the "great escape".
Hope all have a great day.
Mornin' boys. Sunny & 50 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Back on night-shift. However, that means I'm "available" to help with newborn nephew that wifey is baby-sitting. Kid's got some lungs! Throw the 23 month old grandson in the mix, and we have an idea how Brent feels----> worn out!
Wifey & I did sneak off to Ocean City this past weekend, which was nice....and peaceful.

Morning to All.
Last day of vacation before I go back to work after the wedding. The wedding was a wonderful celebration for our kids. Going to take the Mrs for a ride over toward Hagerstown and hit some train stores while we are out. Might even buy her some dinner out.

After a few false starts yesterday we had a pretty good rain last night. Sunny and cool today with big puffy white clouds in the sky.
V8, what kind of car wax do you use? I need to do my Honda first time since painting three months ago. They recommended something called Ice Wax sold at Pep Boys. It is a paste wax.
Boston seems to be coming on strong in the series. Wouldn't be surprised if they win it. At first I thought the Cards were going to blow them away.
Trying to figure out toilet flushing problem. I get an air bubble starting with each flush. I think maybe the vent line is obstructed somehow. If so would have to put a garden hose or snake down the pipe on the roof but don't feel safe getting up there. Might have to have the plumber do it. $
A year ago Hurricane Sandy hit the East coast. The local news tonight did a piece about the continued struggles. HudsonJohn/AF RAY.....the gist of it was that 26,000 folks in New Jersey alone are still displaced from their homes. If that is the case, that is a sad commentary on our federal and state governments, their ability to recover, and their failure to "full court press" the insurance carriers to bring about resolution. Good grief.
Fife and Brent......you guys need those noise eliminating headphones to reduce noise stress!!
Brutus.....all the marbles are on the table tomorrow night between your Cardinals and the Red Sox.
JoeyD.....I agree with MikeC. Coaching the little ones regardless of sport is like trying to control a swarm of bees on amphetamines.
As I get ready for bed the temperature sits at 31 degrees. I am hoping that a weather front approaching from the West holds off onThursday and the evening temps moderate somewhat so that the kiddies' Trick-or-Treating is not rained out or too cold.
Later, gang.
JACK
Brent kinda felt it had to do with needing more time to do every thing but it seemed like a perfect place for that tale to be told
We can't lose them all as we got a 1-1 tie to end the regular season. I worked hard on the field, but did not have many touches. Playoffs start next Tuesday. Had a nice Pizza Hut supper with wife afterward. Work was busy and quiet today. Joe, you have my admiration for coaching that age group and sex. Sort of like herding cats. I love "my" soccer kids dearly, but the thought of actually coaching them would scare the bejabbers out of me.
RockIsland52 CHIEF.........who is handling the Trick-or-Treaters in your absence??? :-) JACK.
No one. We have not been home in 3 years. We have always worked at the Church "Trunk A Treat"*. Wifey will again this year. I don't think anyone will venture to the camper where I will be. Most kids go to the various Churches that do the Trunk A Teat or Halloween Parties. Also, no parking on South Main near our house due to turn lanes for Main Street Park. This has kept some from our area for quite a few years. All the neighboring kids grew up with our kids.
Reclinerized after American Legion meeting and some TV [Moonshiners on Discovery] tonight.
Off to bed. Sleep tight.
* In case you Yankees do not know, Trunk A Treat is where candies and etc. are put in vehicle trunks at the Church. Kids can walk by and fill up. At our Church, a carnival is also held in the Church gym.
Morning to All,
Today is back to work day. Hopefully it will be quiet. Still waiting for the controller for the gantry crane to come from JustTrains. Hope it comes today.
Take care,
Mitch
We just finished dinner (pancakes and sausage) after coming in from flag football practice. Practice was good and I think this season will go pretty well. Fortunately, another parent stepped up to be the head coach for the girls' volleyball team so now I am just working as the assistant. I did spend some time last night and today looking up some drills and instructions - what would we do without YouTube.
RT - Yes, it was a good tale.
Mike C./Jack - Coaching has its difficulties and I'm always nervous about doing a good job. I try to approach it as if I was coaching professionals (or just a level or two below) and put 100% into it and it seems to work out well. Sometimes at these ages I don't think coaches challenge the kids enough and it shows in their game efforts. I always had dedicated coaches when I was a kid so I'm just paying it back.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill............
Good Morning , Joe.......
It is a cold 48 degrees. Going up to a sunny 60 today.
Today is a busy day. Wife is gone, this morning on business. I have a few chores to do and I can finish a project. Lunch and a nap..
Cheerios on the dining car for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Good Morning, Guys....
Back from a wonderful trip albeit too short. Spend a LOT of time with my Princess over the last few days. Universal was a blast, closed down the park, went for munchies at 0330 in bed by 4. The Saratoga Resort in Kissimmee was SPECTACULAR. Going back there for sure.
I picked up the Princess at work at 0800 yesterday, and we carved pumpkins in the motel room. She napped for an hour or so, watched a documentary on HBO and took her home. Some tears shed on both sides, she should be back for Christmas. She's a great kid and derserves better than what she has, but she is greatful for her friends, and those I met were good kids.
On the trip back (actually I stopped there going down and back) stopped at Brookwood Farms for some ppulled pork, chicken and brisket with beans and cornbread....good eats!!! BBQ in the south ain't bad. Charlotte/Douglas is a nice airport, a stop I don't mind making. Yes Chief, I was thinking of you while I was there.....
Back at work and trying to get back into the swing. I'm beat......need a nap!!
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Morning. Partly cloudy and warm. Just finished a 2 miler. Off to pickup 97 Silverado. High pressure power steering hose had a tiny hole and was seeping. Had it replaced.
Rich, I had a achy place in my heart for you with the Princess deal. One good thing is she knows her Dad really loves her.
Got some hunting stand "attachments" I have created to do today.
Have a good one.
Aloha. Grey and warmer today. Yesterday on my commute home, I heard the brakes go into emergency and thought uh oh, that can't be good... The train hit a 'pedestrian'. as they say, with the score F40: 1, person: 0. I don't know why it took 4 more hours to investigate it - backing up every train out of Chicago carrying more than 20,000 people. At least I had a great ride on the TARDIS with Brutus and SJ when I got home. I love taking the kids out for trick or treating, except the curfew is too darn early. This is probably the last year with the youngest though....
Good Morning,
Wow Doug that's an experience! I'm assuming the pedestrian didn't fare to well. Unfortunate!
Things going kinda slow around here, just counting the days off. One week from today HOPEFULLY get this cast off, and hoping to start using the leg with partial weight bearing. Then get rid of the chair, start walking (possibly w/crutches or a walker), and wean myself off that, being able to go upstairs, (to my bed), possible driving a car soon. Ahh FREEDOM and MOBILITY.
Got a letter yesterday that my leave of absence has been extended to 1/1/14 as a result of a letter to Knotts from the Dr. I plan on a lot of recovery and exercise during that time.
Enough about me.
Kay going to graduation today for a nephew who just completed Paramedic training for LA County FD. So Im going to be on my own today. Graduation ceremony not at a convenient location for a wheel chair, and she will be taking her parents as well.
Glad the trip to Florida went so well! And, Joe the coaching is really great, you will realize the most benefit I'm sure.
Good Mornin' Y'all From Cold and Rainy Taxachusetts,
Things are pretty busy 20 miles to my South with preparations for tonight's World seried Game 6 and also a visit today by the President. The newscasters joked last that the President and his entourage have been told to get out of Dodge by 7PM so that the baseball traffic and the fans would not be inconvenienced.
DougM.....our granddaughter Victoria is in grade 5, and I am afraid her days of trick-or-treating are numbered as well.
Rich.......every day I thought about you and your trip to FLA to visit your daughter. I am so glad it was both memorable and fun. From what I read, the two of you were quite busy!!!
Brutus.....good luck to your St. Louis Cardinals tonight. This is not to be confused with my wishes for "better luck" to my Boston Red Sox.
DougM..... I have gotten caught in those commuter rail delays myself, more than once, due to the same cause: pedestrians and vehicles vying with commuter trains for the same space at the same time. My smaller city Northeast of Boston has 7 "at grade" railroad crossings. Impatient folks drive their cars right around the crossing gates and ignore the flashing lights and bells and wham!!!!!!!
We had one woman and her children riding their bicycles around the warnings; and one of her children was killed. About a month ago a mile from my house a local college-aged student (!!!!) was walking down the railroad tracks with headphones on, didn't hear the approaching train from the rear, and got hit from behind.....dead. Every time these things happen the safety idiots come out of the woodwork to demand changes. But you can't fix stupid, no matter how much you spend.
JoeyD.......when I was doing the kiddie coaching I just prayed that the parents would be supportive, stay out of the way, let their little ones learn the fundamentals, and let them have fun. There was always one or two knuckleheads in the parental crowd.
Don......I can truly appreciate your "counting the days." Your descrption of emptying your bladder with your leg and an arm/wrist in a cast still brings a smile to my face. Hang in there!!!
RaySP.........stay off ladders and the roof!!!!!!
Chief.....re "trunk or treat," placing a candle in the trunk of the car right above the gas tank sounds like a Southern idea.
V8 Dennis and Ray SP...... I thought I was the only guy on the forum that found it necessary to wash and wax the car over the course of more than one day. "Got up, mowed the lawn, weeded the garden, pruned the bushes, vaccumed out the car, rotated the tires, changed the oil, washed both cars, then waxed the wife's." I have no idea how some of the guys get all of this done in one day, especially with wifey interruptions.
Along about this time I can picture Brent planning his second or third trip out to the store to buy Halloween candy. I know that is on my agenda.
Miracles never cease......this morning my wife actually acknowledged that "we" are watching the World Series game tonight on TV. My fear is that she went out shopping and will wait until the opportune time to tell me what she bought. If the Red Sox don't win the series, I may not find out for a while.

TheQ returns from her latest (and hopefully last for a while) speaking engagement tonight. The last 3 weeks have worn me out. I never knew how exhausting lack of sleep can be, and to top it all off last night I was so tired I couldn't sleep!Doug - 'pedestrians' don't fair well against buses either (just ask Jason Aldean). I never understood why people 'walk the tracks', I have hiked along them - but never on or near them, only close enough that when a train approached I could get closer for some pictures. A few weeks ago on our way home I was on a State Road with a crossing (no gate, just lights) well the lights and bells came on and I stopped just short of the tracks - but not over the line. I can tell you I was far too close! The car shook every time a railcar went by! I couldn't help thinking "My GOD I hope this thing doesn't derail!".Can't think of anything else I was going to say...
Hello all
Been a while since I checked in here.
Lot going on.
Currently working at the VLA site getting ready to move 90 tons of telescope from New Mexico to Arizona. We have been driving to Socorro each week mostly since April. Exciting project but all the travelling is getting a bit old.
In my own place now btw. Old mobile home (50's) in good shape in a nice quiet little park. Just renting for now.
Continued work on Corvairs. The van is back on its feet w/ all the brakes. Slowly acquiring the parts to finish. A friend in the club has it at his place and is helping me out.
Don - heard you got injured. Hope your recovery is going well.
Just found a K-line S-2 in Santa Fe colors close to my first HO Tyco set engine.
