Good evening all,

Played my best game of the year in a 3-2 loss.  Several good touches, near steals and an assist on the assist.  Work was good as well.  Weather was cold at game, but was sweating almost all the way thru it.  Played entire 50 minutes.

Konbanwa,

It's great to be able to log on from home again.  I started this morning off with a four-mile interval run during some light rain.  The workday went by fast and was uneventful.  It ended a bit early as the older son (10 y/o) and I ran in a 5K Zombie run.  It was fun and he ran the entire thing without stopping which impressed me since he's never run that far before.  No zombies got us either.  We had rotisserie chicken and roasted vegetables for dinner tonight.  I also treated the kids to some root beer floats.  The wife and I are enjoying some wine now as we wind down for the evening.

Don B. - I'm looking forward to seeing Gravity.  I wanted to see it before all the rave reviews came out.  I suppose those reviews can lead us to expect too much.

Mike C. - Great job on the soccer game.  I'm glad you had such a great day.

Hi GUYZ,

Been real busy this week.  Helped neighbor rip off and replace roof.  Roof was a 8-12 pitch.  Wow though I was in good shape but the feets and lower back are sore.  We ripped off all the old shingles replace with new ones We did about 16 square.  Not to bad for two old GUYZ.  We are booth 57.  Today I will relax with about a 5 mile walk in woods with my MINNIE dog.  Later I will run trains.

ROY happy belated Birthday.  I was wondering why you were eyeing up that Big Boy in the Lionel booth at YORK.  Hope you had a few OL Mils?

BUCKEYE we too had a small bit of SNO HI O yesterdat whilst we were on the roof.  I think it was a warm snow though, temp was at 39.

CHUCK are you warming up that SNOW CAN?

CHUCK & BUCKEYE, TGIF!!!!!

Stay frosty my friends,

Good Morning,

RT - That may be how the Chief plans on spending his next vacation, site seeing, while saving on gas money.

Laz - Good Job, at least you didn't fall off the roof, so it was successful.

Demay - Didn't want to sound negative, because it IS a good movie!  You will enjoy!

Still fiddling around with the computers, would explain what I'm doing, but I don't understand.  Hopefully I will know when I'm done.

Off to therapy, last day for arm.  Then a week and half, then OFF with the leg cast, I HOPE !!!!

It is with serious concern that I report that Rich is in the Charlotte NC airport on his wat to visit his daughter in Fla.  I fear the Chief may kidnap him and hold him hostage.  We may have to assemble an extraction team to get him out safely.

Hello all,

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been a busy week, Being of last Friday didn’t help things at work.

Winter seems to be approaching fast. We had our first hard frost Sunday night. Sn** flakes mixed with rain yesterday.

Had a great time at York last weekend. I had hoped to get to the TCA Museum but Mrs & I were enjoying doing nothing too much and we never made it there. Maybe in April……..

Son  got the ‘beans combined after spending an evening  patching up the shaker table in the combine. He took one wagon load to the mill last evening with the remaining load tonight. Projected income is just shy of doubling planting cost. (no allowance for time) He’s shopping for a newer Corn picker with a sheller attachment. That will eliminate shoveling the ear corn into the sheller. Two years ago the mill quit accepting ear corn so we have to shell it before we take it.

You guys talking about cutting & splitting wood remind me why I switched to buying coal. I have Chain saws, a buzz saw for on the tractor and a splitter powered by tractor. Wood is still a he**uva lot more work. I still use maybe a pickup load of wood to get the coal burning. It would be nice so sit and watch the fire in a fireplace if I had one.

Don....Great news!!!!!!

Laz....watcha doin next summer? My house is past due for a new roof. It's only a 5/12 pitch

Jack...Rich is too wise for the Chief

Best get busy

Prayers for those in need

Afternoon fellas

Still trying to get my head on straight. Went to Boyertown yesterday for my Uncle's funeral. Was nice to see family I haven't seen in a number of years. We celebrated my Uncle's life, rather than mourn his death. He was 87, WWII Vet (was the cook on the USS Maddox), lived to meet his great-great-grandson, etc. Today I'm just tired... very, very tired.

Hope to work on the track cleaning car review this weekend.

Howdy,

Love the Chief"s new yard swing.

Had KFC oven cooked chicken last night.. Some of us had bad reactions.  Guess we can't eat some of those fast foods anymore.

Jon, sounds like a good trip in the works to the Grand Canyon.  Never did much photography over there myself.  I've only been there three times.  Once on the way to California in 1958.  Buddy and his wife that I was traveling with looked at it, called it a big hole in the ground and said lets go.  Went back years later and had time to appreciate the beauty.  Third time was on the occasion of the RLHS excursion to the canyon and I forgot a forth trip where we just rode the regular train from Williams.  Hiking reminds me of a guy we met at Yosemite one time.  We had just come back from a hike and stopped for a drink at the lodge.  He said the only place he ever hiked was to the toilet and to the bar.  He looked like it too.

Had second thoughts about dealing with door to door contractors yesterday and cancelled appointment to get quote on paint job.  Too many scammers in that racket.  After doing some checking, smelled like a rat.

TCA meet tomorrow.  Last meet before Cal Stewart next month.

later,

Ray

Konnichiwa,

It's been an extremely wet Saturday here.  We were supposed to experience another typhoon today but fortunately it weakened to a tropical storm and mostly remained offshore.  However, it certainly gave us a great deal of rain; the rain started late last night and just now stopped (1530).  There was also a 7.1 earthquake overnight that raised a tsunami warning for some coastal areas.  We have spent the day indoors cleaning and getting the kids' winter clothes out of storage.

Don B. - I know you didn't mean to sound negative.  I will still see the movie when I have a chance.

I hope you all have a great Saturday.

Good evening all,

Watched grandkids play soccer.  Team lost, but they did ok.  Had a nice visit afterward with family.  Did some train shopping later on.   Good day made better by "dopey grin" email from my Norwegian soccer friend.

Afternon all,

TCA meet today was a dud.  Very few people in attendance.  However there was a nice Halloween train display layout running.  Raffle won by the guy who buys the most tickets.  No surprise there.  Takes all the fun out of it though.

Talked to one of the members who just got back from York.  Took his little toddler son with him.  Said they both had a ball.  The kid has probably traveled more than me in the last 10 years and he is not even six yet.

Don't think I'm going to Cal Stewart either unless something changes my mind between now and then.

Going out to eat tonight with family and a widower friend of ours.  Just waiting for my son to get home to go with us.

later,

Ray

Good Evening,

Not much on the train front.  Spent this morning helping my wife at the swap meet, did OK no records though.  Spent the afternoon reconfiguring the wiring in our "Home" office.  Took awhile but got it all untangled.  (Fax line was crossed with the house line.)

I Don't plan on going to Cal-Stewart either.  Just too expensive.  $30 plus parking, then be done within a couple of hours.  I doubt that I would buy anything either, IF anything it would only be parts.

You all take care, and received the new CTT magazine, and Boy, did Becky do a great job!

Konnichiwa,

You all must be having a busy weekend as there has not been much activity on here.  Our Sunday has been nice and the sun made its return today.  I saw PSU was blown out by OSU; I thought they might play a little better than that.  It was nice to see the Cardinals go up a game on Jack's Sox.  I received my digital version of the latest CTT and am over halfway through it; it's another great issue and as others have said, it's great to see Becky's work.  I think I read the digital version faster than I used to read the hard copy magazine.  I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Good morning all,

Joe, the Red Sox were robbed with that kakamami interference call.  Didn't look like it was intentional to me but not sure about the rules.  I have no dog in this fight but I still hate to see a game end that way.

V8, the only reason I have gone to Cal Stewart in the past few years was to help my friend who runs the floor layout but since I am unable to do that any longer, I don't see a need to go.  Most of my friends have passed on to the big meet in the sky so I don't socialize much.  I don't need to buy much now either.

Have to get ready for church now so not much time to write.

later,

Ray

Good Afternoon,

Not much to post. Mom is doing great with the treatments. I installed my Plasticville: Union Station, Watertank, Firehouse, plus my MTH Streetlights that I got at York on my Branchline at Mom's this week. This really brought a smile and more reminincing of the past. She really complimented on the Streetlights.

Climbing onSoapBox

John.....The whole story involves a CNJ Alco AA unit made by Lionel that when taken out of the box by my grandson for his birthday, immediately or sooner broke a plastic gear, a repair of the Alco where the authorized Lionel repair center "forgot" to put the side trucks back on after replacing the gear and axle, paint peeling off faster than a onion skin, the passing of  June, July, August, and September to get my money back and so many unreturned responses of emails and phone calls from Lionel's Customer Service, I lost count.

So if you see a Lionel CNJ Alco AA Unit being sold like this

please avail yourself to my recommendation not to purchase.  It is junk.  Price approx $230.

The Williams FM CNJ Trainmaster has now spent countless hours riding the rails under my grandson's bed.   This is the winner!!!

Buckeye..........Thank you very much for sharing that with us.  I think we need to know things like that.  I, personally, have two Williams Trainmasters and am very pleased with them. Lionel should take situations like this and use it to the positive, to improve their quality control systems. This includes the Dealer involvement. It would make for a much more dependable hobby.

Good evening all,

Did my first practice for the Mini marathon at Indy next year.  Did 4.3 miles in one hour.  If I can maintain that pace for the entire distance I will be in good shape to finish.  Wife and I did some rearranging of stuff out in barn.  Looks better.  Watched a "real" football game today on NBC.   Houston beat DC United to make the playoffs.

Nice fall weekend here.  60's and sunshine.  We are getting some nice reds and orange leaves this year.

Donated a few hours to work yesterday.  Spent most of the rest of the time this weekend re-working the scenery on my Polar Express layout.  I'm replacing paper mache over newspaper with plaster cloth over expanding foam.  Since this is a traveling layout, a little more durability is a good thing.  I'm committed to a trestle now, as I ripped up risers and roadbed and built a new hill side this afternoon.  Another trip to Menard's tomorrow to get dowels for the trestle and some more foam spray foam.

Had the F1 race on in the background while I was working on the layout this afternoon.  Some pretty good racing - Too bad it was not for the lead.  After the F1 race, I  worked my way through 'Children of the Danmed', and "Them!".  Both pretty good black and white thriller type movies.  Matt Arness was one of the actors in 'Them!' - one of his pre 'Gunsmoke' rolls.  Leonard Nemoy had a bit part in this movie.  Didn't find him though.

All for now.

Evenin' All.

Long time no post, but still dropped in to read just to tired to type.

Thought things would calm down after the surprise party for the better half but club issues and other issues kept me up to my butt in gators for awhile.

Buckeye, The first thing to do with the Williams units, as with many others, is to drop the trucks and check the amount of gear lube installed at the factory. Quite often it is almost non-existent.

Today has been somewhat of a bittersweet day. We attended a celebration of life for Rick. About 150 people turned out as well as about 25 musicians that he either taught or performed with over the years resulting in a Bluegrass festival in the backyard. Lots of good memories and laughter with a few tears as well.

Gotta try to finish-up the halloween garage over the next few days.

Later all !

Konnichiwa,

We had another fantastic day here weather-wise.  I started the day with a nice 14-mile run which is always a great way to clear my mind at the beginning of the work week.  Tonight is the flag football team's first practice so it will be interesting to see what the talent level truly looks like.  Then we have dinner with two other families from church.

SP Ray - As a Yankees fan, I enjoy seeing the Sox lose any way possible.  However, from what I understand and have read, it was the correct call to make.  The Sox stole one back to even it up.  The Cardinals should fire the pinch runner who let himself get thrown out to make the last out.

Hudson John - I'm glad your mom is doing well and that your branch line cheers her up.

Sayonara,

Joe

Aloha and happy Monday. Sunny and cool. Battled a bug over the weekend but still enjoyed company for supper last night and taking the youngest to the local Hobby Town USA. Got a few dinosaurs to add to Ivor's layout. Buckeye, that was quite a saga with the CNJ units. Glad it's over.  Joe, I loved Gravity. Hope you enjoy it. I am pulling for the Sox over the Cards in AL solidarity.

I sure agree about the latest CTT - Becky does marvelous work!
