Morning all.  Cloudy.  Didn't sleep well.  Was going to early Church but doubt I could stay awake as sleepy now.  Will do Sunday School.

Glad Chris Baker went to MI.  I had to sleep in his chase lounge on the patio next to the concrete pond.  If he had been at home, guess it would have been the concrete for me. Sigh

Joe, true.  Current Legislature is not listening to the people.  So you now have rallies each Monday night [gotten real big].  Our Legislature starts its week on Monday nights so they do not have to come to Raleigh until Monday.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a foggy 72 degrees. Humid. Going up to 86 today with a chance of rain later.

Today is an easy day. I have a few chores and then I will spend a couple of hours in the train room. Need to do some dusting and switch some engines. I like that new Williams Heritage "Katy" diesel. It is sharp.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Don...Chris must have been in the right place at the right time to find a warm spot in Lake Michigan.  Of course the Canadians swim in Lake Superior and it is freezing.  A light wind can bring warmer top water to a beach making it bearable.

Big party on the deck today for neighbors to meet newest grandson.

Konnichiwa,

We had Sunday school and church this morning, with a brief Deacon’s meeting for me afterwards.  The wife is now at a VBS meeting at the church.  The Princess has been in a Red Cross babysitting class.  Since she is turning 12 this coming week she can legally babysit on base, but needs to have this class first.  The class started at 1000 and ends at 1800.  I just finished reading the weekend WSJ and will now probably spend some time on the coach.  It has been quite the relaxing day and I see no reason to change course now.

Jon – I hope you and your wife are feeling better.  I’m glad you were able to make good use of the time even though you were sick.

Chief – I read an interesting article about some “Moral Monday” rallies going on in your state capital.  I obviously won’t discuss it here, but I’d be happy to send you the article if you want to read it.

Joe

Good Evening All!

Been recuperating since the Chief left.  Developed this cold Monday evening I think, but its been lingering on.  Returned to work on Thursday, 6 to 3 shift, then get home and ended up reclinerizing and bed early.  Same for Friday.  Feel better today, but not a 100%.  Tomorrow work 5-2, Mon 6-3, then get Tues and Wed off.

Did manage to get everything put back together or discarded as required.  Don't have the train room put back together  yet, (trying to figure out how to untangle the pile of cars on the floor without anymore damage).  I guess I will learn to develop some "kit bashing" techniques.

Kay has been doing well she rebounded from the visit in no time, and is all ready at full speed.

Chris (son) is in Michigan and texted us today, wanting to know if it is safe to come home yet.  I guess he decided on staying there another month yet.  He did say he and some fellow students went to the beach at Lake Michigan, he was surprised how warm the water was.  I think this is his first in a fresh water lake.  Said the waves were kinda small.  He says he really likes the area, but it is awful hot and humid.  (Can't imagine what he would do in the winter!)

Even though Ray and Dennis don't think we are having much rain,  it IS a MONSOON !  According the weather forecasters.  Just because you couldn't get a teaspoon of water with a bucket, doesn't mean we aren't having severe weather. Cool

Got a new lawnmower, the AQMD (Air Quality Management District), here had a program, trade in your old "running" gas mower, and receive a new B&D Electric 18" Rotary for $100.  Given that our mower is at least 25 yrs old and can't get parts for it, and we need a rotary instead of a reel type now, seemed like a good deal.  The new mower is of course competition Orange, and has a 36v rechargeable battery,  Can't wait to use it.  Turned the sprinklers up to everyday instead of every other day.  Think I'm going to put some Nascar stickers on it, looks like it would be perfect for it.

Spaghetti coming up for dinner.  Hope every one stays healthy!

And be suspicious of what the Chief posts.

Oh, almost forgot,  took the keyboard spill pads of the laptop, and it still works fine.  (Had them on while the Chief was here.)  And the LED is still flashing.

Good evening all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana.  Helped older daughter move some stuff today and went with her family (wife and I both) to Indy Museum of Art to see a special exhibit by Chinese dissident, Ai Weiwei.  Very powerful stuff and also some very creative work as well.  Latest CTT was waiting for me when I got home.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Just got home from the circus.  It was a good show featuring  a very good high wire act and tiger act.  I was a little dissapointed that there was no tradtional flying trapeze this year but there was a trapeze act of sorts although a  different type.

Popcorn was $8.00 per box so we took a pass on that.  My son and I both had lunch on the way home at N-and -Out burger for three dollars more than a box of popcorn at the circus.  Don't know why those bean counters haven't figured out that you could make more money in the long run by charging even $5 a box.  I suppose that's greed for you.

It was raining a little when we came out of the circus.  Just got a few sprinkles here at home while ago.  Don't think it will amount to anything.

later,

Ray

Good Saturday afternoon --

We've gone from floods in May to a drought right now!  Our weather is just totally unpredictable, the farmers struggled to get crops planted in May (many did not their beans in) and right now the corn is showing signs of stress and it's about to tassel.

Tough week health wise here:  the boss is just now getting over her 2nd bout with poison ivy and she always wears gloves and long sleeves.  We are done for the year cutting trees in the timber and the splitting can wait another month.  I ended up with a ruptured ear drum and an inner ear infection, caught me off guard for sure but waking up to blood on the pillow is not a good sign.  We have an excellent ENT Dr. and I spent time in their office yesterday, three anti biotics/hearing test and I'll see him again in two weeks, left ear is 95% useless right now.  But looking forward to a complete recovery.

So all of this has led to more time in the train room Thumbs Up and catching up on movies at night.  It's ironic that we spend more time in the train room in July than any other month, I think it's because it's so darn nice and cool down there and that's a big relief.  Several years ago during a super hot spell we did a complete inventory down there, we just had fun organizing everything and now when we want to find something we go right to the binder and look it up, that is a HUGE plus Geeked  Sure nice to have the storage under the layout off the floor.

I'm low on miles for the bike this summer -- maybe 2500?  Labor Day weekend and all of Sept. and two weeks of Oct. are my favorite times of the year to ride.  Get all those families with their kids back in school and motel rates drop like a rock, it's when the geezers come out Smile, Wink & Grin

Buckeye -- would enjoy an audio clip of choir practice last night?  Oh, c'mon Music

Good morning all,

Going to the circus today with my #2 son in Ontario, Ca.  Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Red Unit this year.  Best of the two IMHO.  Saw the Blue Unit last time and was not as good.

Now will join Chuck over a bowl of Cherios but will also have an egg white omelette.

The morning temp is 74, going into the 80s today.

News this morning was about yesterday's downpours and high winds. Oldest son has a totaled summer gazebo and youngest DIL lost a lot of yard sale stuff that could not be gathered up fast enough. We all have power though so all is well. A nice chat with Joe and Brutus last night.

Konbanwa,

We had a relaxing Saturday here.  I was able to mow the lawn last night which meant I could have a relaxing morning, and I took full advantage of it.  The wife and I relaxed together over coffee.  I took the youngest for a bike ride in the afternoon, and that was the most physical activity I had all the day.  The wife and I went out to an off-base Tex-Mex restaurant; it was muy delicioso.

SJ – I’m halfway through the latest CTT.  I’m thoroughly enjoying it as usual.

Prayers for all those in need.

Good evening all,

It is still HOT in SE Indiana.  Quick update on last 3 days.  Our soccer team finally won a game 3-1  Wednesday night.  It was hot and we had no subs so I played the entire 50 minutes.  The team played well and I had my good touches so it was a good night.   Lucas finally called us and we had a good conversation there.   Thursday we had friends from New Mexico visit.  Tonight I scrimmaged with the high school boys.  Tiring but fun.  Wife and I watched Toy story 3 again.  Got caught up at work, and today was a quiet day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Evening

We got clobbered but good this evening...three lightning strikes within a minute of each other...two got some pine trees next to us and the third struck our house...I checked the house and found that our 2" wide braided copper wire had taken the hit and left a few scorch marks around the surrounding grass!!!  ???  :o

As well...we got 4" of rain from this thing and another inch of marble sized to golf ball sized hail  (:))

Right now it is still grumbling and raining out....77 feeling like 87....bit of a difference here...  ;)

Good evening everyone. Been crazy past few weeks. Did an early case today and  was able to leave early.  Spent the rest  of the day having family time.  Kids grow up too quickly.  Our dog has been limping lately and he also needed some shots, etc. took him to vet and then spent some time walking with oldest son and dog around the back of the property.  For the first time, we actually have peaches growing on some of our trees!  Really need to put some more fertilizer out there.

chief, sounds like you had a great time in California.  From the fun y'all had, wasn't sure you were heading back east.  Those old NS engines you saw out there were probably getting ready to be front line motive power for CSX!  :-)

jack, I didn't catch what the need for prayer was, but will do....God knows the need, and is quite able to deliver.

God Bless,

dennis

Dennis V8, sorry to hear that your Del Sol got hit after that recent paint job but glad it was covered by insurance.  I got my paint at One Day also.  Mine ran $804 but I am satisfied with it.  Only problem so far was somebody running a shopping cart into my side mirror at the super market.  Just a small nick though.  Now I'm parking defensively.  I need to get some shade for my car though.  Sun is brutal over here in the driveway.  Need one of those auto tents are whatever they are called.  Guy has one for sale in the neighborhood.  Says make offer.  It looks kind of flimsy though.  Dennis, I think you asked about the steering on my Honda since repairs.  It does seem to be wearing in now or else I'm just getting used to it.  Seems easier now.

Chief, Buckeye put some miracle grow on your grass while you were away.

Did a little grocery shopping today at Cosco.  Too hot for that.  Got some fresh rockfish (red snapper) for dinner that I will cook on the grill.  It was really good last time we had it.

Not much train running time this morning.  Had to run an errand.  Need a new  hose connector for my hose caddy but can't find the right kind yet.  Old hose sprung a leak.  Taped up with waterproof tape but did not work.  We have doubled our watering on the lawn and it is beginning to green up finally.  True Green guy sprayed for fungus and cutworms about two weeks ago.

We seem to get a lot of crickets this time of year.  They just walk in through cracks under the door or somewhere.  My son catches them between two paper cups and puts them outside.  I just hit em with a fly swatter if I can.

Have a good weekend all,

Ray

Mornin' Fellas

I am available the second or third weekend in August... then not till mid-Sept... UGH

I looked up Nauti-Goose on GMaps and it brought back a lot of really old memories. Back in the 1950s my Mother's family bought/rented a number of trailers and slots at a trailer park in Craft Haven (just across The Bay from Nauti-Goose), I remember going there a number of times in the late 70's/early 80's and having a blast. Well looking at the area on GMaps I was able to locate where the trailer park used to be. The roads are pretty much still there, and you can still make out some of the slots, but the docks appear to be in poor condition... really sad. It was a great place to go as a kid because there were dances Friday and Saturday night, lots of cool playground stuff, the concession stand, you could walk around and 'visit' the other people... not many places like that around today.

Good Morning! Another hot one today!

The only thing new on the train front is that I purchased some Plasticville Buildings for the "Branchline" at Mom's house. I stay there 1 night a week to keep her company and help out. I bring my repairs there. She gets a kick out of it and I remind her that this is all her and Dad's fault, because if they did not buy me my first set in 1953, I may not have the interest in it that I do. She laughs and reminices when she is down there. She si doing great with the cancer.

Chief: Glad the trip was a lot of fun.

Buckeye: Just keep the mosquitto farm South of NJ, PLEASE. We have enough of them!

Dennis: That sounds very reasonable for the work that they did. The $100 is probably for the extra material to paint the whole car. And you still came out ahead.

Fife: The weather is not looking good for tomorrow. As they say, The Show Must Go On. I may just have to take a Road Trip South soon.

Banks: Good News about Terry. Continued Prayers.

Jack: Continued Prayers for Victoria.

Have a Great Day!

John
