Cloudy rainy morning. Off to the lake house later today. Wifey has company coming so I have to entertain.
Good to see Buckeye has a new board. Maybe his typing will be better. Now if he could get a new brain, the content would be better. Guy wrote Trains magazine. Saw lots of box cars with Buckeye on them. Wanted to know what was up. They are used by folks from Ohio that are deserting and moving South. Lots of them.
Bo, anytime you want to start photo fun, go for it. Nice job. BTW: lots of friends and relatives where at the 150th reenactment. On the "opposite side of the line" I'm sure.
Have a good one. [will start a new Pot now].

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is 70 and lightly raining. Going up to 76 today, with no rain. Hmmm,,,
Today is a busy day. I have a few errands to run and the usual chores to do. Lunch and a nice nap. later.
Buckeye..... I don't see any difference. You still mis-spelled 3 words.
Dining car has rolled in with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
I bet my post is the best ever this morning since I now have a new wireless keyboard and mouse. The old key board died but it was as least ten years old. I can now type much faster so now I can post more of nothing as I attempt to mimic the Chief.
Today we are heading to the lake for some boating and fishing fun with the grandsons.
Professor Murphy, can you tell the difference in my computer skills this morning? Am I still failing your computer class this semester?

Konbanwa,
I chose not to do any running or exercising this morning. I have my annual physical fitness assessment tomorrow so I want to be well rested. I spent the entire workday completing paperwork. We had gluten-free pizza for dinner tonight that is truly quite tasty. For dessert we had fresh honeydew and watermelon.
Happy Birthday Don B.!
SP Ray – I agree about your friend going on that trip. That was a smart idea by his sons.
Bo – I bet the 150th anniversary reenactment was quite the event.
Mike C. – I don’t think real football begins for about another month, but have fun with that soccer game. Actually, I read an interesting article in the latest edition of Runners’ World magazine that highlighted the fitness testing many college athletic programs due at the beginning of the year, and it specifically covered Stanford’s female soccer team. I’ll know how I compare based upon my 1.5 mile run tomorrow morning.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good evening all,
It is cloudy in SE Indiana. We were one and done in the soccer tourney tonight. Lost 4-0. I touched the ball exactly one time. Not the best way to end the season, but another one starts the end of August for the fall league. Work was quiet today. Hope the same way tomorrow. Tomorrow night is real football at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
dbaker48 But, leave it to these guys, a new birthday, a new house, where do these ideas come from???

Liar Liar, hair on fire. May not be your house but IT IS YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! Think I'll call Chris and get him to post that it is your birthday.
Hi again,
Had a nice lunch with widow friend of ours, wife of my late best friend. Checked out his layout with the grand daughter who has been running a train on it. Lucky I came by. There was a short in the wiring that was actually about to burst into flames. I spotted it while it was still smoking and it was coming from a homemade terminal strip mounted on a piece of plywood. There were burn marks on the wood. I cut some wires feeding this monster and made it safe. The grandaughter can still run her train with no problem. Part we disconnected was feeding some lights which are'nt being used anymore now. The grandaughter said she hooked up a street lamp to something. We took that out too and may have been the start of the problem. Just don't know what she did and she can't remember. My back is still complaining from crawling under that layout. Mine was bad enough before D.Baker built some lift outs here but this one is worse. It is lower so crawling is a must. Cannot do any stooping.
Our adult son who lives here is going away for a few days to Oregon to visit friends so we have the place to ourselves. Probably eat out a lot and whatever else we can think of. Might go to the beach one day if I feel well enough.
Later,
Ray

Don, Happy Birthday.
Good Afternoon,
Hmmm looks like someone is suffering from memory issues.
Can't see the spa for all the shrubs. Thought you might want to see Don's house [a real photo this time].
I was with the Chief when that picture was taken. It is in Corona del Mar, these houses over look the beach. There are only 2 houses in the pic. These place run $3-$5m. On the right side of the pic, is the house that belonged to the Dr that a friend of mine and I built a layout for. (SPRay, and John Fullerton have both been to my place so they can confirm I don't live here, wish I did.)
Thanks for all the well wishes though, think I will go have a drink to celebrate anyway.
Don
dbaker ---> Shake it, don't bake it!
I haven't seen the crash ratings for the newest cars but the 2013 Ford Escape has all around air bags. We bought ours in January and I can't think of one bad thing to say about it. Very good MPG, lots of pep and a quiet highway ride. And it's Made in the USA by an American car company. No one car fits every ones needs but we like ours.

Just remember rule no. 17, when Buckeye Riveter and Chief Eagles agree on something then it is true.
Obviously it is Shake and Bake's Birthday!
And remember rule no. 18 too, when Buckeye Riveter says something and Chief Eagles disagrees, Buckeye is right.
Good Morning All,
Got up early and had breakfast with a friend. Been running errands all morning. Didn't get as much done yesterday on those wire armature trees as my soldering gun that I've had for years finally decided it had had enough. Picked up another one while I was out. Don't know for sure what all I may be able to get done on the layout today as I have to go out again in a bit for Dr.'s appointment, just a routine thing and then a couple more errands.
Thanks Don and Ray too for the kind words about the railroad , but part of the reason it looks as good as it does is that I only post photos showing its good side and that is all I show. Still have a lot of "work" to do on the railroad, but then again, that is part of the fun. There is an urban area that I have not done much with to date. Hope to begin work there shortly.
Ray, we've had some much needed rain lately, but my lawn is still looking pretty rough.
RockIsland52, thanks, I'll try to post more frequently. It is good to see that everyone seems to be getting along well.
Dennis, I'm glad you were able to sell the car and feel good about the price you got.
Chief, I didn't know if there is was someone who is kind of responsible for starting SPF, so when I checked it out and saw it hadn't been started I figured I would just go ahead and post the couple photos I had. Hope that was ok. Still like to see that "bid pergola".
Yeah Joe, your probably right, I could see where pushing a jogging stroller on a three mile run in high humidity could cause some excessive sweating! I got back not long ago from two weeks at Gettysburg. Was one of the many reenactors there to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the battle. Stayed out in the woods the first week and then pitched my tent out in a field the second. Boy was it hot. I kept up with the young fellows, but I can say it is not getting any easier. Did a lot of sweating!
Chuck, congratulations on that low cholesterol score! Now I understand why Cheerios in the dining car every morning. Good going!
blownout cylinder, I've never had a garden railroad and think they are kind of fascinating. Interested in what you decide to do.
Bo
Morning all,
Dweiner, hope your dog gets better.
Don, don't know who's lying here but happy birthday just in case
Wife and I going to lunch with my best friends widow today. Nice to get together. It has been too long. Her grandaughter is still running trains on her departed grandfathers layout. I'm going to help her clean the track today if I get the chance.
My friend who's wife just passed away has been invited to go on a trip to Paris France by two of his sons. Hope it will help him and give him some much needed rest from all the termoil he has been through these past months.
Cooler today.
later,
Started to do a separate thread on this. Have you ever known Shake and Bake to tell the truth?
Well the truth is:
Today really is his BIRTHDAY!!!!
In fact, he is dancing in the streets of LA.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DON
Time to sign up for SS.
Morning. Been relaxing with TV. Now to get busy. May help with the gun store today. Maybe short as main guys Grandmom is dying.
Just got off the phone with my forester. Folks really want your timber as now a shortage. Maybe some pulp wooding and one tract of thinning.
Blown, Ford Escape got the worse crash rating this year.
Howard, great to hear from you.
Later.
We have a cloudy 73 degrees.
The man said rain today so I went out early and cut the grass. Twice the average summer rainfall has kept it green and growing. It is summer quiet at the train store so no news from there. A nice chat last night with some of the guys...
Aloha from a 'fine' day as the Irish say, Lá báistí, with the mist. I had a nice class last night: 3 sessions left. Couldn't find the TARDIS from the train home though. Looks like the Collings Foundation is in town somewhere with their P-51 Mustang, B-17 and B-24 - I'll have to try to find them to take the youngest. Looks like Jack's Red Sox got a nice White Sock in trade: Jake Peavy is quite a pitcher. The dismantling of my favorite team continues...

Jon: The one we are looking at is a Ford Escape...but what with this new band thing going I'm starting to rethink the process here. I have a fair load of equipment to haul....

blownout cylinder --
The two vehicles I want to trade in are: 2003 Toyota 4Runner AWD 4.7 V8 w/117K--amazing SUV and not one minute of trouble in 10 years, goes through snow covered roads like a snow machine; 2008 Toyota Tundra 5.7 w/31K and has been a work horse, super low miles but I'm at the point in my life I'm done with heavy duty needs plus she's a thirsty girl at the pump. We do have a small car that get's great mileage will keep it.
No real need for us to own three vehicles any longer, save on insurance and license fees. Looking hard at the Honda Pilot w/touring package. We have to have 4wd as we live in the country with a steep gravel driveway and once in a while it snows here PLUS now we would be able to take the grand kids and their parents just about anywhere we want to go, ie. Colorado skiing and northern MN.
I will find out the bottom line today, last day of the month is a good one to make such a purchase.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Good MorningEverything is dull here...we seemed to have found another dull bucket for our viewing pleasure here... Today will be another one of those file work days...they found a rat's nest that needed cleaning out ...apparently... Later on I may see about picking up some books on garden railroading and see what kind of landscaping mayhem we will need to do here...
It is a cloudy 70 degrees. Humid. Going up to 80 today with rain later.
Today is a busy day. Dog is going to the groomers. I have chores to do. Some paperwork. Small project. Then, lunch and a nap.
Cheerios has arrived aboard the dining car.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Hello to all! Sorry I have been MIA but it has been kind of crazy here. Nothing bad just busy. Working days now and trying to get used to the new hours.
I had a sweaty 3-mile run this morning; it was terribly humid and it was the most I sweated all summer. The fact that I pushed our 3-year-old son in the jogging stroller probably contributed to my excessive sweating. The hump day was ho hum, except for a lunchtime (their evening) chat with SJ, Brutus, and Charlie. The wife and I are now determining what we want to eat for dinner. My wife has been busy this week with VBS activities at church which has left us to figure out dinner on the fly each night. I’m sure we’ll come up with something tasty and then relax for the remainder of the evening.
Chief – That is typical weather in OK.
Dennis – Yes, so far we have been fine. However, I need to see how the rain has affected Mt. Fuji as we would like to climb it this summer.
Good night all. Wifey and I have been catching up on SHO's Donavan series.
dbaker48 Going to the spa this evening (out in the backyard), then back to work tomorrow, for 5 days! Got the early shift so that isn't too bad.

Sleep tight.
Good Evening,
Buckeye - Sorry, but you've got the wrong date. I'm in February. I can understand the confusion, I mean how many times does your birthday appear? It seems its been about every 3 weeks last year.
Spent the day working around here. Did a BUNCH of Honey Do's, and then spent time in the train room, working on bridges. I was putting flashing LED's on top of them, Found a good deal and bought a bunch. They are rated at 9vdc, so I hit them with a 5vdc wall wort. In my haste I wasn't paying attention to the current rating. And it was 1 amp! Given the LEDs were 20ma, when I turned it on one LED actually LAUNCHED! I've never seen that before. So put in a current limiting resistor, and of course everything is cool.
Thanks again for the advanced Birthday Greeting!
Visited Entertrainment Junction north of Cincinnati today. The Grandson described it in just one word, "Awesome". New idea for the layout, a prison. I could put the Chief in the pokey. (For those who do not know about Entertrainment Junction, just imagine your local Walmart with one gigantic G scale layout inside.)
Is it Don Baker's Birthday tomorrow?? Let me look at my birthday calendar that I have kept for last ten years. Yes it is Shake and Bake's Birthday tomorrow. Let's see it is 10 pm here in Buckeyeland, so it must be 7 pm on the left coast. He has time before they tuck him in at the old folks home to answer this posting.
jonadel Car//SUV shopping today --- trading in awesome 4/wd truck and awesome SUV for a biggger unit SUV. Kinda fun as I'm in the drivers seat Life is good, however more trains would be OK also!!!!!!!!

Good Evening...Got the bass redone, needed better pickups and restrung as well...thing is an 8 stringer so it can be a bit more moolah to redo....aaaarrgh. I also managed to get in some time to run some trains around and, believe it or not, get into planning a garden RR set up....
