If CTT asks us to refrain from something, we stop and do not make a raucous about it. It is their forum and they are paying for it.
No sly "cuts" at members on the Pot. Jokes are OK.
Friendly chat is welcomed.
*CTT welcomes layout photos and asked for this. Post them on a separate thread. If the thread is off of the page, use search to bring it back. Then post more. That way we can see your progress and/or changes.
If you can not follow these rules, don't post here. If you do and break them, you will be asked to not post on the Pot. If you continue, it will be CTT's call on further action.

Roseyville had a fabulous fireworks display tonight. I drove the Thomas the Tank Train from 4 PM until 8:55 PM. No break. Reason I stopped then, batteries went dead. Got a nice "bait" of red hotdogs with chili, mustard and onions. They were free for working.
God bless America land that I love. We may or may not all agree on politics and the direction it is going but we must all agree it is the greatest place to live.
I'm going to rest and watch TV [which will probably result in reclinerizing].

Happy 4th of July, all. We just got back from watching the city's fireworks display. Pretty good this year. We could also watch the display of the next town south of us. Their display ran longer than ours!
I spent the afternoon cutting a hole in a historic building. One of the locks in the depot was screwed into some pretty sketchy wood on the door frame and didn't really line up well, making it hard to operate. I cut out the bad wood then fitted, glued & screwed a piece of new wood in place so I could get the lock pieces to line up properly. Actually, the 'new' piece of wood was from one of the original pieces leftover from the restoration. Futzed with it all afternoon. Hopefully, the ladies who work there will reward me with a pie or chocolate chip cookies or something.....
Treated myself to a 'Big John' PWC cannon car recently. It arrived a couple of days ago. Have not tried it against any of my exploding boxcars yet.
The LHC got a used oddball in this week. I have not been able to turn up any information on it. Maybe some of you TCA members could help. It is a 25th anniversary TCA G gage tinplate boxcab with three passenger cars. I think it might have been made by Williams. It looks like the catenary (sp?) is wired for taking power from an overhead line.

Found out we may be a bit short handed tomorrow, need to pack some extra stuff to take with me.

We had a Great 4th of July. A good BBQ and the fireworks were fantastic. Doray is still at the Ice Cream Shop for it is a few blocks from where the fire works were set off. They had activities there and a lot of the crowd stopped at the shop.

Had a wonderful day with family. Kids all went in the pool while grandpa (me) did the cooking. We had hot dogs, ribs, homemade cole slaw, potaoto salad, baked beans, corn on the cob and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Palm tree trimming yesterday was successful with no damage to Noah"s ark next door. Ran trains for a little while this morning before it got hot. Ran my N&W class A a lot after changing tires on it.
Good TV this afternoon on one of the public channels. They were commemorating the 150th anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg with lots of speaches and talks by historians. Wish I could have been there. One of the speakers was Jeff Shara, son of the man who wrote Killer Angeles upon which the Movie "Gettysburg" was based. Jeff has written several books himself like "God's and Generals" for example. Doris Kerns Goodwin was the main speaker.

Good evening guys. Was a mellow Independence Day here. Didn't do any cases and just stayed home with the family. Found out tonight that our youngest does not like the noise of fireworks. Didn't go to any, but locals got a bit crazy for awhile.
Glad to see the new pot up. Look forward to the more civil environment. One thing I did do today is to finish a book called "Guns Up", a story about the 1/5 Marines in Vietnam. I know one of the main characters and it was interesting to hear some of his story from before I knew him. Always had respect, but now I know more and admire his sacrifice.

The base’s Fourth of July events were great yesterday and last night. There were plenty of activities for the kids and The Lt. Dan Band’s show was fantastic. The fireworks were entertaining as well. I’m extremely thankful for Gary Sinise, the USO, and those that support the USO for providing the base this wonderful affair.
Today has been a relaxing day so far. We went to a going away party for one of my office workers; I ate way too much Mexican food. It was tough to resist since it was authentic and homemade. It is terribly humid outside so I think I will remain indoors for the remainder of the day.
Chief – I agree; the greatest country to live is the USA.
John – I’m glad the wife’s shop did well.
Dennis – I’m glad all is well on your end.

The Ice Cream Shop did well yesterday. Doray is sound asleep. I will wake her at 9:30 for she has to open today. For me it is take it easy, some yard work, mess with the trains and see if the marina where I launch from is up and running. I will take it out tomorrow. They took a big hit from Sandy. Not as many boats on the Bay as in previous years.

Had a great 4th, Chris got home, told stories of his trip, had Hamburgers, Corn on the cob, Apple Pie. Spent most of the day visiting. Tried to recover an engine for the dogbone, but it just wasn't worth it. Also, ended up stamping Chris' ID on his various hammers and chisels. Man that kid is really into this stuff. (Better be with what its costing to send him to Michigan for 6 weeks.
Now the focus is on getting ready for the Chief's visit, Porta-Potty is suppose to arrive today.
Saw a bit of the news this morning looks like some fireworks at a show up in Simi Valley, that were suppose to be airborne went into the crowd. A few injuries as a result.
Got to get busy, lots to do before work this afternoon.

Worn out from yesterday. Busy day with some skiing, wake surfing, and just hanging out. More of the same today.
Been raining on and off all week here in Chattanooga area and we are 15 inches over normal for rain here this year. Meanwhile in Texas nothing for rain but temps have been cool (90's)
LCCA convention is here in Chattanooga starting the 14th. looking forward to seeing some friends coming in for that.

Chief, sounds like you are getting hot days too in the Old North State. Humidity makes it worse. Praying for a cool day for your visit. We can always jump in the pool but hard to run trains in there. Taking my Honda in for a paint job on Monday. May get it back by Thursday.
Wife still suffering from neck pain. Uses heating pad and tylenol a lot. Only thing she can do is follow excercise advice from doctor. I have been taking over a few of her chores to give her a break. Already doing the cooking and I haven't heard any complaints yet. Yesterday I got everything ready while family was in the pool. I knew they would be hungry when they came out. I ate while they were in there so I could serve them when they hit the table like a bunch of locust. Worked out fine.
Glad to have the pot back up again. Looking forward to all the familiar faces signing on.
Afternoon fellasSpent yesterday replacing the exterior facets on the house (can't use their real term as it is blocked). The one by the garage never had good pressure and a couple weeks ago it would no longer shut off. I bought new 14 inch, anti-siphon, anti-freeze ones from Home Depot that have built-in Sharkbite type connectors. Well when I pulled the garage one out so I could cut it the darned thing pulled right out of the wall! So I set about removing the siding and installing a mounting trim block (to make the siding job look cleaner), got that done and then went into the trainroom to see about locating the pipes. After cutting two holes in the ceiling I found it, and also found that the PVC pipe had broken where the pipe hit a 90 degree elbow to go up to the faucet and at the faucet 90 degree elbow... project on hold till trip to Home Depot to get 2 elbows. Installed other faucet without mishap! Off to Home Depot... get the elbows and some siding wash and back to the house. Get other faucet set up, turn on water... go to trainroom but before I get there I hear water... run back in and turn off water. Seems I didn't get one of the Sharkbite joints tight enough... well fixed that and since no damage to the layout I head outside to wash the moss off the siding... pressure out of the garage faucet is best it has EVER been since we moved in! I am still sore and exhausted from the moss removal, and I still have the front of the house to do. We get moss on the siding because the Sun doesn't hit the one side or front of the house for very long so it stays in the shade. This stuff is supposed to have an additive that will 'prevent' moss and mold build-up for 2 years... we'll see.I did get a good bit of the layout sceniced! AND I also got the upper level rewired. I cleaned the track and ran the E7s and GP30s, needed to add two power drops to get more even 'flow' and the engines are running very smoothly. Will still have to pull them all off and clean their wheels and center roller bearings. But in all I am happy. Now have to work on wiring the lower level.

Hot and fairly humid for us here in the Ol' Pueblo. The 4th was ok, not too much excitement.
Found a good deal on a Marx cylinder smoker that may be in today. Found an even better deal on a 666 to put it in.
Jumping beds here at the house again. Hopefully this will be an improvement in the living situations. Will definitely have more space.
Back to NM on Monday for more disassembly.

I took a vacation day today, but the iPhone still is catching those pesky emails.
It has been raining here at the lake and I'm going to need to pump out the bilge.
A big thanks to Roy for his tenacity in helping me solve a problem with a certain dealer and manufacturer. Not solved yet, but it will be.
I will be in WV on Monday, which reminds me to tell you that TRAINS magazine is about WV. Cass Scenic is featured.

Good afternoon everyone. We had planned to hit the agirama today, but the rain nixed that. Took family to see Despicable Me2, was a funny program and kids enjoyed it. Kinda emotional in that we ran into the children of some of our friends who are in China adopting a baby girl with a heart condition. Then, we met a mother and daughter, whom the daughter was adopted about 15 years ago from China and had the same birth defects as our youngest son.
Joe, Gari Senise is great. He has done much for the sake of our service men and women. He is very humble, and he only seeks publicity for the sake of the cause. Glad you got to see them.
Roy, while you are in Chattanooga, there are some great things to take in. The Aquarium is worth a good half day. Good food down by the river too. Also, a couple of train rides are worth it. Hope you get to enjoy some of the sites and food while there.

The 23 year old John Deere decided to die after I just finished the last pass on the front lawn. It was 90 and right in the sun. I checked it out quick and discovered no spark. So I pushed it out of the sun and had lunch. After lunch I changed the spark plug and it fired right up. That was luck. The plug was installed in April. Not fouled just NG. So I went over the machine and sharpened the blades. I was soaked thru so i took a shower and ran the trains.
Chief: Butter Pecan it is. If you make it to York in October, I will have it when we have Our Ice Cream Tailgate Party! This time I will have more dry ice. lol
Brent: Glad the plumbing job worked out good and made an improvement. When I read about the leak I thought the worst.
Bob: Ray (AF53) was telling me about your 666 project. Cool. His smokes like a champ.

Prayers requested for my sister in Virginia who had surgery recently. She had her colon removed and plumbing redesigned. She was in the hospital for about 4 days initially. They sent her home before the 4th and she seemed to be doing OK. However, my BIL sent me an Email today informing us that she has been readmitted to the hospital today with what he called a drainage problem. She has been put back on intravenious feeding for now. More surgery may be indicated but if needed will not be for a week or so. We thought she was doing so well but looks like tough sledding for a while.

I decided not to remain indoors yesterday evening even though it was awfully humid. The back patio needed to be swept so I took care of that. I also hooked up a bike trailer to a mountain bike I just acquired and took the youngest for a spin. He loved every minute of it.
It’s partly cloudy this morning. I am thinking about setting up some FasTrack on the back patio (that’s why I decided to sweep it yesterday) and running the trains out there for a little bit. We don’t have any other plans for the day.
Chief – Is there another Pot member in Japan? Or are you just getting more senile?
Dennis – Yes, he does many great things for the military community. Did you see the first Despicable Me movie? The kids haven’t seen either; I was skeptical about it due to the title.
SP Ray – I hope your wife’s neck feels better soon. I’ll pray for your sister too.
