Good Evening !
(Notice the greeting, yes this is me!)
Didn't realize that scondrel hijacked my own computer!  However, I will get everything set straight, began working on it today.
Phase 1 - Lull into a state of relaxation and non-expectation.  Get him to feel that everything is very low key and relaxed, where he can get into the comfort zone as being in Roseyville.   Status: It worked, right away he started out barking out these orders lets go here, lets see this, what about going there?  etc.,etc..  So planned a low key day, leisurely drive, low key museum tour, and a couple of train stores.  At the same time I needed to preserve the security and safety of our local points of interests.  Soooo, I ensured that the route would not be duplicated by performing numerous U Turns, and various other means of causing the sense of direction to be compromised.  (I almost got dizzy, more turn arounds and driving in circles than I do at Knotts.  Additionally, I had his attention diverted by using a GPS system that has all the longitudinal vectors functioning through a reciprocal interpreter prior to display.  Totally misguided him, (so much to the point he was confusing neon signs as images of the moon.)
The Grits detection and abeyance program has worked well.  What has been perceived by most to be light rain, was actually Grits Neutrilizer.  Unfortunately I wish I would have been able to divert the grits dust to the San Andreas Fault as suggested, it would have been ideal.  (Thanks for the suggestion.)
The disarmament and evaluation activites that were performed at Rays, went off as planned.  The overt activities planned for San Diego have been completely neutralized.  The only expectations that remain, are the plea for assistance that may be forth coming for assistance from Forum sympathizers.  And possibly a mild elaboration of dreams he may be having of gaining local control.

Again as a member of OTTS, I will ensure that the Grits Marauder, will be kept in check.

Evening all,

Sounds like the CA trip is going well Yes

We finally got some sun today and were able to go to a nice restaurant on the river for dinner. Enjoyed some fried catfish and after we got home it poured rain. Ugh.

Forum still acting weird. Clicked on "latest post" and again got a blank page.

Brent - give me a shout and I will be happy to discuss wiring.

Late so cutting this post short tonight. Glad tomorrow is Friday. LCCA next week.

Konnichiwa,

I’m taking advantage of the lunch hour to write a quick post.  It’s uncomfortably hot and humid outside.  Much to SJ’s dismay, I long for winter.  The wife and I will have a quieter dinner tonight as we will only have the youngest child at home during those hours; the Princess will be at a friend’s house for a sleepover and the older boy will be at a church club event.  We have no other plans for the evening, but the weekend to-do list is increasing.

John – I hope your mom had a nice birthday.

Good evening everyone! Chief, glad you made it.....but California may never be the same!  Hope Y'all have a great time out there.

been busy at work, and our hospital has purchased several others, so I currently have two to do cases at. A bit more work, but the pain is having to go back and forth.  Can't complain, there are many who wished they had half the work I do.

Brent, I am hardly the electrical guru for layouts, but take it for what it is worth. You need to figure how much power you will need first. This must include: how big the layout is, do you have any grades?, how many trains do you intend to run at one time?, how much power do the engines in your stable pull?(older AC may require more than modern DC), will you be running long consists?, or lighted passenger cars?  After you figure that out, you have to reasonably look at your plan. In my case, I have several loops that do have cross overs. What I have done is use several KWs where one power take off for each loop, with isolated track between the cross overs.  I have also isolated the yard and have the power to the individual yard tracks going through toggle switches. This allows me to park equipment and power down as needed.  I run all turnouts to a separate power take off of a KW.  All common runs are joined via feeds to a main panel block that is where my signal goes too. Then, I have power feeders every six feet that return to a panel of fast blow circuit breakers and then to the KW pick up for each loop.  I also have two more levels that are not connected to the other levels. On these, I just have BUSS wiring with feeders every six feet and then to their own KW.  While this is how I did it, Roy and others can certainly give more expertise.  Good luck,

dennis

Ray -- great story about the circus, be sure to fill us in on you reaction.  I would enjoy having a circus scene on my layout but at this point I simply don't have the room, it would have to be a big area to look good.  The circus colors are always inviting and makes one smile.

The other area I REALLY want is a floor to ceiling logging scene.  That could happen if I stay persistent with my scenery expert (my wife) but it would involve a big make over on one end of the layout.  I do have more room than most folks (for which I'm grateful) but just a little more room would be fun Wink

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Got to scrimmage with "my" soccer girls tonight.  The old man showed them he still had a few tricks up his sleeve as he scored a goal as they were hollering , "Who is marking him???"   Great fun.   Forgot to mention highlight of Wednesday night was seeing two Louisville and Indiana locomotives painted in PRR colors making a run with a long consist behind them.  Way cool.  Work was ok.  Finished the year on one project.  Nice to have that off my plate.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Aloha. Beauty of a day in Chicago. Thought I heard someone singing 'California Here I Come!' at the top of their lungs from a C-47 that roared over the house heading west.  Today was a busy and productive day. I finished cleaning the van before it was picked up -- aloha old buddy. Then I cut the grass until the mower died - I had plugged it in wrong.  Then cut back all sorts of weeds and overgrown bushes. Finally painted all the trim in sight. Tomorrow I will continue painting the garage door. It was perfect weather for all this except for the skeeters.

Ray, hope you enjoy the circus. That is a neat story about your friend being one of the Wallendas
Brent, there are many guys here who know far more about electrics when it comes to wiring a layout - presuming you are not running TMCC or DCS - my layout is just wired with a transformer connected to each huge loop of separated tracks - physically separated from each other- and each running only one train - usually Ivor or his minions. I wanted the simplest approach possible - use manual switches too.

Prayers for Tyler and Carrie's new baby. Hey, the White Sox took two of three from the Tigers!

Dennis, I should be back at my house by 8:15 I think.  If I'm a few minutes late.  Don't panic.  I will be there.  Might get in a long winded discussion with you know who at dinner.  You know, I was raised in the South myself and we all like to talk a lot.

Good morning all,

I guess Dougnotagrump was right about the R word.  We did get a few sprinkles this morning.  However my lawn is dry as a bone and I'm trying to catch up on the watering  Had it checked a couple of days ago and it was also treated for fungus and cut worms.  I don't see how anything could live in there with the recent hot days we have had.

Glad to hear that our buddy from the Old North State has safely arrived although he says it was in a rainstorm.  That was arranged by D. Baker to try and dilute the grits on board.  It is staying overcast so far today so should be comfortable at my layout tonight I hope.  I'm trying to run down these two juvenile delinquents to find out what time dinner is tonight.  Suppose to link up with them then.  I'm assuming 6:00PM unless I hear otherwise.  V8 Vega is suppose to join us at 8:15 at my place.

Got to run some errands.  More later.

Ray

Sunny CA????  Cloudy and scattered showers.  Baker and Sugg conspiracy.   Thought I would be staying in a house with grafiety on it.  Really nice palace with pool.  Shake and Bake has been fooling us.  He is really one of those CA guys with $$$$.

He did insist that I sign in under my name.  Said everyone would think it was him claiming to be me.

Well, planning REB raid north of him.  Hollywood and then Sugg's [capture Dennis as he comes to the trap].

Mornin' Fellas

I hope Chief took enough grits with him to CA to fill the San Adreas, that is probably the only thing that could stabilize the fault line! Whistling

Hoping one of you electrical experts can answer my layout wiring question. I can do whole house wiring, but I don't know enough about transformers and the like to know what the best way to wire my layout is. Do I need the rotary switches and the toggle switches? If not how do I cut the power to the transition tracks when they are not in use? Can I run the whole layout using one output on the ZW?

UGH!!!!!!

This ani't Don.  Its the REB raider.  Sitting fancy in LA.  Guess what.  Landed in LA in clouds and it rained.  SUNNY CA??????  Kay, the only good Baker, took me by the train club layout.  Big.  Then to Ruby's for dinner.  The old man is running the train at his work.  10:00 their time which = 1:00 my time.  Going to try and stay up until Shake and Bake gets home.  Waiting for the ground to start trembling and a big fire coming down the mountains. Surprise

Buckeye, read the article [in flight] in the new Trains magazine about WV railroads.  Especially about NS's big project to be able to run double stacks from Ohizo to Roanoke.  You must have done a good job engineering that project.

Jack, take more than four CA boys to keep a REB in line.

No change in the weather out here: hot and humid.  It was a pretty easy going day at work, followed a relaxing evening at home.  I don’t have much else to report, which can be a good thing.

Time  for me to hit the pillow but not before a prayer for Tyler and Carrie.  Maybe squeeze one in  for their Dads as well.  I'd say one for the California boys; but there are four of them.  They should be able to contain the invader from North Carolina.   :-)   JACK.

High 80's and high humidity here today.

I've been putting off mowing the grass, thinking that if I leave it long going into the dry season, it won't 'burn up' so bad.  Anyhow, when I was coming home from work tonight, the only thing I could see of the young rabbit that was its ears.  After dinner, I hauled the lawnmower out, set it on its highest setting and mowed.  Then for fun, my wife and I did some wall painting in one of the spare bedrooms.  Now we are ready to haul the new elliptical machine that has been riding around in the van since Friday upstairs and get it set up.

All for now.

Good Evening All!

Like everyone else it seems that we can hardly go two days without rain. They said that June was a record for rainfall and July can't be too far behind.

Banks - Prayers for your DIL's father. Just keep giving her your support.

SP Ray - Sounds like things with you sister are getting a bit better. Hope she starts feeling better soon.

Chief - Good luck on the trip. Too bad you weren't going later this month when the Yankees play the Dodgers.

Now for some good news. Carrie had a doctor's visit today and they said that this baby is very large and he is ready. So tomorrow night at 7:30pm she goes in to be induced for labor. So maybe by Friday night I might post some pics.

Later.....

Had a nice chat with Buckeye this afternoon until I figured out he was pumping me for information regarding the Chief's trip out west. Rest assured Chief I shut that down quickly.Right Hug

Had a great talk with Roy yesterday.  Found out all the details of the Chief's trip and now I will be able to let the California Highway Patrol in on the information in order to keep the state safe and pollution free of grits.  Laugh  I sure hope those surfer dudes are aware that there will be some big waves hitting the beach as the hot air increases during the Chief's visit.

Chief - all lies. Buckeye thinks you are going to Canada. Have a safe trip!

DonB - have a great time entertaining the Chief. Looking forward to the daily activity report.

Ray - nice remembrances of your friend. That is how they live on.

Getting more rain here - ugh. Doug M wish we had your weather.

Regards, Roy

Radar has picked up a plane load of grits aimed at California.  It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's the Chief!

D.Baker is standing by with the first line of defense at LAX I presume  unless they are planning an airborne attack over Cerritos.  Crash trucks have been alerted to spray anti grits foam on the runway.

Good morning all,

Cleaned up a little in the train room this morning and worked up a sweat even though it was not too bad today.  We have some kind of cloud cover.  High around 83 predicted tomorrow.  I hope so.

Dougnotagrump, did you say the R word?  Haven't heard about any up here.  Probably just a rumor started by some guy from North Carolina.

Looking forward to getting my Honda out of the paint shop by tomorrow.

Wife went to see doctor yesterday about neck pain.  Wants her to start wearing a cervical collar neck brace in addition to the excercises.  Medical supply store did not have the right size.  Had to order and will be in tomorrow.

#2 son has invited me to see the Red Unit version of Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus here in Ontario this month.  I have heard the Red unit is usually better than the blue one.  Will go to remember my departed friend Ed, who was a circus performer in his younger days.  He was one of the Flying Wallenda's for three years in the 50's.  He and I used to go to see the circus together when it came to town.  He new a lot of the people there and he usually got us a backstage  visit with some of the performers and a chance to see the "back yard" of the circus where the animals are kept.  He knew a lot about the big cats.  Friend of his was a lion tamer.  Once he let Ed and I sit right next to the cage during the performance.  I can tell you, those lions were for real. I  Miss Ed a lot.
