Morning all.  Didn't make it to the Pot yesterday.  Busy doing stuff outside.  Even put a deer feeder in the Main Street Park.  Should attract deer to the spot which walkers get to see them.

Spending a lot of time with Time Warner Cable.  Got back from lake house to find Sportsman Channel had no volume after an upgrade.  Well, it has taken lots of visits by a tech to convince TWC that the problem is not Cisco boxes but something in my node.  Could have installed a different brand of whole house DVR box and fixed my problem but not theirs.  Refused to allow that as Wifey looses all of her Christmas shows DVR'd.  Now they are really scratching their heads.  No sound but meter shows sound coming through.  Install new Cisco box, no sound.  I'm being patient.  Have new Samsung boxes in bedroom and Train Box.  Watch it there and also the DVR'd Sportsman Channel shows have sound.  Yes, the only channel with no sound.

I'm off to the lake house for a few days.  Back Friday night after a Property Owners Board meeting.

Saturday, off to the farms to scout for turkeys as season comes in the following Sat.

NEWS FLASH.  Jsut got a call.  TV 11 wants to interview me on gun control as our STUPID Mayor of Morrisville is having a round table discussion on gun control today.  They want "the other side of the story."

Got to rush.

Hello all

I put together this teeny tiny little cockpit for the helicopter last night. Came out looking good, but only about a 1" cubeTongue Tied Rudder pedals (of which two broke off as I cut it off the sprueBang Head) are about the size a ladybug's leg. Locktite CA gel to the rescue! Put the rotor hubs together too. 5 parts in something about the size of a nickel. Pretty good detail for the size of this thing. But the worst instructions I have ever seen. The book I have on the history of these jobs is proving useful as well as interesting. May have to go to the the Pima Air Museum this week and take a look at theirs. Dad would be proud. Retired USAF maintenance officer.  Would have been 74 next week. Will drive the Corvair (a '61 4DR was his first new car and favorite) and go look @ aircraft in his memory.

Time to go find a pillow before I have to drive down the hill.

Aloha. Still winter-cold but sunny. Hope today goes easier because the youngest got scared at 1:45 this morning and I had to dig out the sleeping bag so he could stay in the room. By the time I got him set up, I was pretty awake. Ah well. Time to begin training to sleep with my eyes open. Big Smile

Jeffrey – I initially did not like Windows 8 either, but now I thoroughly enjoy it.  I have AVG as well and need to uninstall Norton as the free trial period is up.  I’ll let you know if I find the uninstall function.

I've already found it. Click 'Settings', 'Control Panel', 'Programs and Features' and there it is.

Konnichiwa,

This is the first post in a few days for me.  We had a great Easter but kept busy.  We had two families from church over for Easter dinner; the highlight of the meal was the rack of lamb I made.  I also made Easter pizza/pie which is an Italian-American treat from my youth.  It’s been raining quite a bit here the past few days and the highs have been in the 50s.

SP Ray – I believe that was a scam.  Here is a link to an article about it.  http://www.bitterwallet.com/microsoft-phone-scam-being-run-from-indian-call-centres/32278

AF Ray and Jack – Enjoy that early win; there won’t be many of them.  Yes, that was certainly an odd-looking Yankee lineup.

Jeffrey – I initially did not like Windows 8 either, but now I thoroughly enjoy it.  I have AVG as well and need to uninstall Norton as the free trial period is up.  I’ll let you know if I find the uninstall function.

I’ll pray for all of us in need.

Just a quick drive-by. Here's a link to a youtube video that a father & son posted of their visit to the layout last November. We let them put their Marx engine & tender thru it's paces on a couple of laps around the track.

50's and sunny today.  Temperatures are starting to raise.

Hope everybody had a good Easter.  My wife and I had a rather quiet one here at home.

The L&N 4 bay hopper came in to the LHS last week.  Nice piece.  I'm surprised at how heavy it is.

Super busy at work.  Not much time for trains.  Looks like it is going to be that way for the next couple of weeks.

All for now.

Hello all

Spent the first part of my shift talking to an operator who will be coming over from our telescope on Kitt Peak. We shut it down yesterday in order to replace it w/ a newer one. This will be a big project and the site will be down for at least a year. So she is coming to work w/ us. I may be changing my schedule as a result.

Kev - glad to hear the 1615 is back in action. At least it's not another voltage regulator...Whistling Hopefully that motor should be in when I get back home.

DougM - glad to hear your ship has come in

Jack - maybe you should put nerf bumpers on the CaddyTongue Tied

More Daewoo assembly this next week off. My friend was able to get the oil pan off and cleaned and re-installed w/ new gasket. He even managed to get the transmission mount back in by himself, no mean feat. We should be putting fire to it soon (steam engine analogy). If we get frustrated w/ it we will then SET fire to itStick out tongue

Spent part of last evening painting a 1/72 scale model of an H-21 helicopter. Dual rotor, air-cooled engine in the rear, these things are the Corvair of the airBig Smile First time I used a color cup on my old Badger airbrush. That is the way to go. Think I will just toss the bottle attachment. Badger's little paint mixer is also the bomb! It brought back some of my 30 year old paints no problem.

I also found a little portable spray booth for the airbrush. Neat little system that folds up. I'll let you guys know how it works out.

I think someone played an April Fool's joke on me in da Bronx yesterday! Someone took half of the team away. I've been going to see the Yanks for over 40 years and this was the first time it felt like they weren't the Yanks. With half of the starting lineup on the disabled list it just felt like an exhibition game. Ugh!

Aloha all. Back from a trip to Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island to visit relatives. Made it home yesterday in our usual one-day marathon drive through CT, NY, NJ, PA, OH, IN and IL in only 14 hours. It goes faster when i make my passengers pee out the windows - fewer stops.  Big Smile Now if only I could figure out an interstate equivalent to mid-air refueling, we could go even faster. Nice to be back but today should be a long day of catch-up at work. It's pretty cold too for April - just 29 downtown.  Hope to catch up on the Pots' goings-on later.

Well Doug - a little rough on the paint - hope you waxed the van recently?

Jeffrey - good deal on the PC and the phone.

Kev - nice work on the loco!

NIce to see Jack posting more again.

Had some rain this morning and maybe some more tonight. 50's tomorrow. It's all good!

Long day today. Seems impossible to keep up with work anymore Sigh

Hope all are well and have a great day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

Temp is 37.

A visit to Toledo today. No luck at the casino but a nice visit with my 94 year old aunt who still lives in her own home. Then a visit with an adult cousin who has a nice O ga layout in her basement. Belongs to her boyfriend. He is thinking of York but not sure he can get away from his business. Banilla is ready and I'm running late..S.J.

Good evening.

Feet hurt some, but got some good progress made on the 109. Most of the fine detail is on, so a little more fine detail, then the first coat of paint is to go on. Big Smile

My new to me 1615  took a crap today. Sad E-unit would not respond, So I took it apart and did some cleaning. A lot of rust and everything was dry. All is now good and I can not beleive how many Ore cars this little engine that could, can. I will post a video tomorrow. Yes

Good evening all,

Had another minor crisis on that which I cannot talk about.  This is getting more than old now.

Mike,

No kidding Mike, nothing could be so bad you can't share it in my mind. I have been through He$$ and back twice and I just let it go. To be open helps a lot for me,  Hiding is not the answer, but to each his own. Prayers you can work it out. It does no one any good if it can't be talked out. JMHO

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 40.  Had another minor crisis on that which I cannot talk about.  This is getting more than old now.  I should have kept a journal of all that has happened.  It would never sell in Hollywood as it has been too unbelievable.  Work was ok for the daily stuff that I had to do, but we got some potentially bad news in terms of our IT support or lack thereof.  May find out more tomorrow.   I am so eager to start playing soccer again in some form or another.  I see where AJ signed Connor Daly to drive for him at the 500.  Have to like the first name on the kid.  TBIL and I can drive after the season ending of "The New Normal".  Btw, take a peek again at the "In a Standard Gauge Mood" thread.  Becky is at it again.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Jack, you're right.  Normally, I don't talk to anybody unless I know who they are but I think this one was legitimate.  However, I am not taking anymore calls about the computer without some kind of confirmation.  I am on the National do not call list but I still get em.   I'm starting to let the machine answer most of my calls.  We have been flooded with telemarketers lately.  They use every trick in the book to get their foot in the door.

Had my annual termite inspection today and nothing serious turned up.  Guy just found a couple of small spots and treated them.  I do have to clear away the soil and rocks from the bottom of some of my siding which is too close to the ground.

Weather is warming up again after a cloudy Easter.  Did have just a drop or two of rain but nothing to write home about.

Friend of mine on the railroad who has been on the reserve board (not working) for four and a half years just got called to come back to work.  Hope this is a good economic indicator.  The railroads usally are.  However another friend in the aerospace industry has been out of work now for over two years or more.  A lot of those jobs seem to have left for good.  Amazing how this place used to be the center of aviation building but not anymore.

Prayers for a better day,

Ray

Evening all. well got a new plug and cord in one from Lowe's today ( 2 prong) and replaced the cord on the 1033 I got in and all if fine. A-U top volts 16.2 BU 10.8 a-u suppose to be 16 b-u 11 oh well good enough for me. turned whistle control in A-U hook-up and it went to 20.3 so that works. so my army of transformers grows 3 ZW's ( post war type) 1 R, 1 LW, and now a 1033

Took wife to the before that actually to Lowe's to buy 2 more treesBang Head and 3 more miniature rose bushes and some other plants. So had to help plant them before I could do what I wanted lol ( the cord thing above)

Oh well tomorrow is my rest day as have to go back to work Thursday.

Winter has returned.  37 now, will be down in the 20s overnight.  The White Mountains got 5 inches of Snohio last night North of us and the Berkshires in the Western part of the state likewise.  March in Taxachussets was colder than normal and begs the question:  what happened to global warming, Mr. Gore?

Ray.....I would advise strongly against even talking to someone who calls me out of the blue.  My wife and I have been on the "do not call" list designed to get rid of telemarketers.  That has gotten rid of most of the incomings we don't want.  The rest.......if we look at the caller ID and don't recognize the numer, we let the answering device take the call......and no message is ever left!!!!!  My wife just does not get it, she wants to know who is calling us.  And every time  she picks up these calls, it is someone selling something in violation of "do not call."  Me?  I stopped answering the house phone.  If you want me, leave a message or call my cell.  How do you know that the person calling you was not trying to tap info in your PC, like account numbers and personal info.?    JACK.

Laz, I was green with envy when I read your fishing report.  Must be nice to live near good fishing.  In our neck of the woods, a 13 incher would be a keeper.

Jeffrey, congratulations on the new computer.  Mine is as old as the hills too.   I got a phone call yesterday from some computer guru in India who wanted to help me check out an error on something.  I had no idea what he was talking about even if I could understand his accent, which I didn't.  He led me through all kinds of steps to clear up whatever the problem was.  At the end, he just disappeared as if he hung up but on the screen it said everything was Ok I think.  I think it had something to do with microsoft or windows.  Who knows?  The guy had me on the phone for at least 30 minutes.  If they ever call again I think I will tell them to send me an E mail or something to explain what they want.

Good Afternoon! It started out at 29 but it is up to 46 now.

Just got back from taking Mom for her scan and tests. She is doing good. Now to relax a bit and get my school stuff ready for tonight.

Ryan: Good luck with your wife. You need a side trip to York.

Kev, Doug and Jack: You guys handled the damage situation  well. About the only damage my wife did was to take mirrors off before the cars were displaced from the front garage by my Mustang and my son's wood working shop.

Jake: Enjoy your last couple of months of HS.

Have a Great Day!

Jeffery, I think I may not be too far from a new PC as mine is about14 years old now and was a referbish when I got it. We did swap out the hard drive about 5 years ago. Yeah

That would be about right. I built mine in 2002 mostly with spare parts. Over the years I dropped in another processor, a DVD burner and a new power supply. These old systems are now so obsolete people who have the parts for them are starting to price them like they're plated with platinum. I came across a main board (bargain basement El-cheapo type) that would fit mine. The guy wanted $330 bucks for it and it didn't even have a processor or memory sticks! I paid $380 for the one I put in it and it was brand new, top of the line, and that was with the processor AND memory.

........DougDG, Yes I was like you on this one, Years ago I would of gone nuts about the car reverse truck deal but all I said was " it could happen to anybody " and then I went into Zip it!. It is what it is and whenever I dump the guilt thing on her she ends up making my life miserable. So no point.

My wife did the same thing despite the back up sensors that provided warning lights and ringing bells, warning her of an impending hit.  AND she had just loaded the dog in the rear of the car 30 seconds before, with the car parked behind us 4 feet from where she was loading. Bang Head  Helen Keller parking strategey?  You back up until you hit something?  You ignore all of the "car in reverse" anti-collision technology?

KEV......join the club.  Skip the back-up technology!!!! They should just electrify the drivers seat and zap the driver when a collision is imminent.  THAT would get their attention!!!

Jack
