Good morning. Supposed to get about 3.5 inches of snow, but it won't start for a little while yet.

Morning from wine country, the 5:30 a.m. train from Greenport just passed.

We are in storm prep mode as we are expecting around 2 feet of snow, with most that falling tonight.

Today is supposed to be a mix of snow, sleet and rain.

That said being stuck at home on Saturday does have a side benefit, more train time !

Ray,

After start-up how long does the sound continue if you kill power ?

If it doesn't continue for about 10 seconds powerup and let it sit for an hour or so.

Instead of a "Feature Reset" try a "Factory Reset".

Time to hit the hay. Supposed to be raining in the morning so I have to be out the door by 6 in hopes of avoiding most of the idiots on the freeway. Nite all !

Brent, congratulations on the new arrival!  Good luck and God bless.

Fiddled around with my broken down MTH E6 this afternoon.  Checked battery which was OK.  Got some advice from other forums.  Checked everything I could to no avail.  Now it's either pay a bundle to get it fixed or write it off.  I suppose I could sell it as a fixer upper to a repair guy.  Would be a good deal for somebody like that.  I've got too much into this thing to pay anymore.

Good night all,

Ray

Good night all.  Raining hard.  It will quite by morning.  Then breezy.   Tonight was great.  Only Middle School in Wake Co. to have a FFA chapter.  Only a few middle schools in NC do.  Took my old FFA jacket [where I was State Forestry winner in 1964].  Couldn't wear it but it made the photo shoots.

Smart young man after my heart.  Seems Joe has been brain washed by the Japanese by making a comment about CSX being good.  We all know KEV is a lost cause anyway.

All jokes aside.  Our weatherpersons are saying, dangerous storm for the NE.  Be prepared or you could die.  Yes, that is exactly what they are saying.  Prayers for all.

Good Evening from South Amboy, NJ.

Staying at Mom's tonight. I set up an oval of O gauge track on the old train table. It has been over 40 years since a lionel train ran on that table. There has been HO from my younger brothers. My Mom came down into the basement and she had tears in her eyes. We talked and reminiced. It is funny how the trains played a big part in our lives. It was a big bond during Christmas, for my uncles were into them and we all had them. It taught us responsibility and how to think on our own. She brought up on how with my dad we set them up around the Christmas tree. During the heat of the summer we would set them up in the basement by ourselves. It provided us with inginuity, responsibility and creativity. They did shape our lives.

AF53, Ray, I am staying far away from there. I get calls from the union guys all of the time. The guy who took my place is getting worked over from upper management.

Brent: CONGRATULATIONS!!!

DJ: With that storm coming I am glad that I am RETIRED!!

SPMan, Ray, Prayers

Kev: You could come to Jersey to use our table saw. Smile, Wink & Grin

Harold: Good Luck with the Suburban. If it was a Mopar it would have been sooner. My ex work truck, a Dakota was on it's 3rd rear when I turned it in at 186,000 miles. I am not even going to mention how many steering racks, tie rod ends or ball joints. I almost forgot about the transmission.

DougDaGrump: Snow Storm 1978: $$$$$

Mike C: Prayers for your daughter.

Snow is on it's way tonight and into tomorrow.

Brent - Nice pics and congrats!

HudsonJohn is up nawth at his mom's house where he grew up. We've been in contact all night. He went and set up an oval on his old train table. He's having a great night with mom and reminiscing. Sounds like a great idea. I say, since he's only a few miles away from his old job, he should go in at 5:00am and whip the guys back into shape! Laugh

Later

wrconstruction, I doubt that we will get enough snow to make it worthwhile to you anyway. Maybe an inch or two or three here in Towanda, but not much more.

Ohayō,

TGIF; however, it will be a busy day for sure.  It is sunny today and the high will be around 40.  I will gladly take any snow you guys don’t want.  I don’t have much else going on right now.

Brent – Matthew looks great.  Congratulations again.

Kev – The backstop you added should make a great base for adding some scenery back there.  I agree; there are no NS engines that could go fast enough to cause you any worry.  Now, a Reading RR or LV RR engine from back in the day (before NS took over) would be a different story. Wink

Mike C. – I hope your daughter’s recovery goes well

Sayonara,

Joe

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 60 before the rains move in.  Good day at work, not so good other ways.  Daughter is out of surgery, but they had to slice her open instead of labroscopic.  Long recovery time.   3-5 days in hospital.  2 weeks recovery at home and 4 weeks off work.  All sorts of complications with surgery.  Thanks for the prayers.  Congrats to Brent and Susie-Q!  Some good news around here is welcome.  Be careful, Doug M with all the snow.  V8 Vega, thanks for the update.  Be careful out there as well.  TBIL but I cannot drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

No snow here Doug M,    Have fun with that. Whistling

Jack and Chief, I have made full throttle runs in both directions with the NS Dash 8 40 Cs No problems.

But those NS engines are wimps like everything NS so I had better be more careful with the CSX Dash 8 everything CSX is better, faster & stronger!! Smile, Wink & Grin

Batten down the hatches you guys up in the north, right, looks like it will be fun. be carefull and lay low till it blows past.

Night guys!

Afternoon All !

Big Congas to Brent & Susan !  Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Beer

Dennis, Those guys neglected to stop as directed when approaching a security detail that had been dispatched to one of this guys "targets".

Jack, Hope you got a good supply of Brandy"medicinals" to gaurd against frostbite, just not while running the snowblower. Will it be equal to the storm of 1978 ????????

The Ca DemocRats are supposedly going to bring forward a bill that would require gun owners to purchase "gun liability insurance". Does such a policy already exist ? If they can't ban them they will try to price them out of existence. Grumpy

Gassed up the truck at Costco, $4.04/ga., a week ago it was only $3.52. Bang Head  Grumpy

Seriously, I am working on building a back wall for it today that I can build the hill slope of scenery off of as money allows. Once I figure out how to do that, that is. Confused I need to use the neighbors table saw to cut a 16" section of plywood for the back wall but he is not here today. maybe tomorrow.

Rain, all day so far.

We used the neighbors table saw to cut two 16" sections of plywood for the back and side walls. So now we are good.  I have to do some trim work on the one side but I will do it later. I will start my hillside from the top of the plywood. Yes

Kev, better put something on this side too.  That bench looking part will not stop those engines.  I learned the hard way.

Cloudy, chilly and rain on the way.  Luncheon was good and then met with my favorite Mayor, Raleigh Mayor Nancy McFarlane.  Big difference from the former Mayor.

Got to do proclaimation for FFA tonight at Rolesville Middle School.  They want me to sign in person in front of the members.

Headed to the house from Town Hall.  That is, if I can get out on Main Street.  Traffic bumber to bumber this time of day.  One ox cart, two goats, three mules and a flock of chickens. [I knew the Yanks would come back with that.  SNOW STORM is getting even Whistling]
