Good Morning Old Coots !  Smile, Wink & Grin

Spent most of yesterday afternoon at the WGHT at Del Mar, wondered around the exhibit halls briefly checking out the Lionel and MTH offerings as well as a few others. Didn't really see any "must haves" but did see a lot of friends which resulted in lots of BS'ing. Spent most of the time at the museum's booth letting munchkins run a couple of G gauge trains we had set-up. Even though they were on two loops with a 90* crossing the kids faired quite well, only a few crashes and a couple of derailments from excessive speed. All in all a good day but dead tired when I got home.

Brent, Thumbs Up Look on the bright side, it could have been the hershey squirts. Ick!

Time to go answer my 20 questions and jump on the scale so my cardiologist knows that I've been a bad boy(salt wise) the past few days. Ashamed

Prayers for all our friends on the pot. Angel

Later all.

Joe, I too grew up like you did, as I'll bet most of us did. I let the youngest play in our yard and a nearby cul-de-sac but no wandering the neighborhood or even walking to school without me. Too many incidents even out here.

Kev, what'ya get? Huh? Huh? What was it? What was in the box?

Joe, we too grew up that way. When we were kids it was out at the crack of dawn, most of the time it was to the gravel pit or town. Hit the house for lunch then back for dinner. Our parents did not know where we were all day or care for that matter and I doubt they worried. Many times we would hop on the bus for a quarter and go to Joliet or Aurora loose for the day. We never told and they never asked. I can’t imagine something like that today.

DougM, It was not that much, A box of track from Ryan, (thank you again Ryan!) four 10 amp breakers for the ZW and 100 hot gun glue sticks from Amazon. Just that it all had to be explained and with a weekday delivery it would have never been seen. I try to keep the wife on a need to know on train stuff and she don't need to know. Wink  She never complains about it and the one time she said something about it I asked her if she rather I spent my money at the bars? End of discussion.  Whistling  Smile, Wink & Grin

John you and Ray have a good setup. Mischief

Raining and cold, so I used some of the track I got to build a inner loop for the new side. This loop will have no switches so that I can run any of my old AF and Marx stuff without worry. I also made corrections to the other track to allow enough room. Smile Now I have to wire house power to the new side so I can power the transformer for this side. Tongue Tied You guys seen the price of 50' of 12-3 wire latley?? Surprise

Kev, had a good laugh at packages coming on Saturday.  I seem to have the same problem.  I try to have UPS ship all my in bound stuff, as I live in BF no where, and if its the normal UPS driver, he'll detour to my shop and deliver it there. ( save me explaining and saves him 1/2 hour on his rounds, assuming no one else out my has a deliveries that that.)

Generally heres how I handle Sat deliveries:  Having a long Lane, I know when someones coming. So I cut the postal guy off at the turn around, and immeadiatly put the package in my truck.  Now of course, none of this goes unnoticed by the wife, so I just tell her its "stuff for work" but I think she knows better.

Shes never said no to a train purchase. but when we go together to a new hobby I am piling things up on the counter faster then they can enter them in the cash register.  to keep her at bay I tell her to "get what ever she wants.   She always buys stuff I wouldnt touch in million years....Bang Head

Well, Guys,  I did it.  I got the bad switch changed and the new one installed. Had to stand on a safety stool to do it, but it went ok. Now I can reinstall the blue bridge and track. The upper loop will be running soon.   HOO  RAH

Ahhhh what a refreshing night sleep will do for a body! Matthew graced us with a whole night of sleep! He is eating a little more with each feeding so he sleeps a little longer too, and it appears his body clock has reset so day is now day and night is now night. He was been awake for about 4 hours now, and is on his third bottle of the morning! TheQ observed this morning 'You just can't leave him alone can you?' Yes, but it is so much fun to hold him and watch what he does. Christina is really being a good big sister. When Matthew cries or coos she informs us... which is cute.

Christina decided to 'color' the tub today. Good thing we bought washable crayons. Big Smile

She is sitting beside me now writting with a pen on paper... and on her hand, and on the table... ugh! Big Smile

Well time to give the kiddos baths!

Good morning. It's 69°F with 99% humidity and a tornado watch! Ugly, rainy and cloudy. The high will be 72°F.

Well we're under a tornado watch until 2pm. Currently radar shows a very ugly line of storms moving across central and east Texas in an easterly direction. I'm hoping that a super-cell doesn't use this area as a bulls-eye. My old trailer shrugs off lightning strikes fairly well but it has no defense against high winds. It'll either ride it out or some model trains will be scattered across the landscape. I will have already bugged out in search of a more substantial structure, most likely my fathers place. I'll be keeping an eye on the storms with this weather radar link that updates automatically.

No plans for any layout work other than a bit of vacuuming. No sense engaging in something complex just to have the power go off in the middle of it.

Konbanwa,

I was up late last night finishing some schoolwork but I managed to get some sleep before having to wake up for Sunday school and church.  It has been another sunny but chilly day here.  I had an afternoon nap and worked on the weekly crossword puzzle.  The older two kids have been out playing all afternoon which is great.  I know of too many kids who spend too much time in front of a television or videogame these days.  I’m glad my kids like leaving the house and not coming back for five hours; I’m more glad we live on base and have a safe neighborhood where they can do that and I don’t have to worry about them.  That’s how it was when I was a kid: on Saturday mornings I’d leave the house at 9:00 AM, come back at noon for a quick lunch, and then go back out until the sun went down or just in time for dinner.  Sundays were the pretty much the same except for attending church.  It’s almost sundown now so they’ll be in any minute which means the wife and I should figure out what to have for dinner.

Brent – I’m glad you are enjoying those fun times.

RT – The rusty rails are coming along nicely.

Charlie – The video from the club meeting is great.

I hope all the snow bunnies are staying safe.

Sayonara,

Joe

Aloha. And what I am doing up at this hour still? Sigh. Well, the bride is away and I've been watching good and bad James Bond movies. Nice ride with just RT on the TARDIS last night. Nice flamingos. They live in a dome in the Lincoln Park Zoo - around this time of year, they aren't very happy.  Jack, I had Lou Mal's pizza tonight too with the youngest!  Brent, I remember those days of taking care of the babies while half-asleep.. I was fortunate in the days before family leave to spend five weeks with my first born when she was adopted, I took care of feeding her nights. Enjoy it. That season passes quickly, as you know with Christina.

Hello all

Rain last night and this morning, but we had a decent afternoon. Enough to get the front shocks in. The car rides SOOOOOOOO much better. The old ones were just trim and were the source of my rattle. And yes, they were the genuine Delco's from Dayton, OH. After 48 years they were done.

No ME boxcar yet, maybe Monday.

Set up a guy in the house w/ my old Pioneer receiver/amp circa 1978. Nice unit, but no real need for it, plus it doesn't have tubesStick out tongue He will use it for his guitar among other things and sounds good w/ his speakers. Will get a little cash out of it so I'm happy.

Looks like I may be able to half the size of my storage unit once I get rid of a couple more things. Will save some cash there.

Will go to a friends tomorrow after church and put in the sway bar bushings and maybe the lower shrouding.

Well I latched onto two 70's era Atlas FP7's today (UP and BN). The owner says they're in good condition and both run. I'll find out when they arrive here in a couple of weeks. Didn't do much on the layout today but I did get my cell phone and video camera recharged and the F unit trio of Frankenlocos were run for several laps around the layout. I also took photos of some rolling stock that may be used in a potential trade. So at least I got something done.

Well it's that time again and I have to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

UGH

I have no idea what day it, whether it is night or day, or which way is up or down!!! I thought I had been tired before, with Christina and Matthew exhaustion has taken on a WHOLE new meaning - and no I am not complaining. Yesterday we took him for his 'procedure', which he was none too happy about, but in the years to follow he will be glad we did. Then we drove from West Palm Beach to Jacksonville. We arrived here around midnight. Today we had to take him to a pediatrician to get his biliruben (sp) number checked as he was a bit jaundice. Well the appt was at 10am and we didn't get up till 9am and were 10 minutes late. He checked out fine. Has only lost 1oz of weight and his bili number went up but not enough to be concerned. The Pediatric Nurse said that if he were their patient they wouldn't have stuck him because his level wasn't high enough to be concerned about in the first place. Bang Head Only took 2.5 hours to get that result. Bang Head

When we got back to the hotel TheQ and Christina fell asleep in bed and just before I drifted off Matthew decided he was hungry... so I got up, gave him a bottle, and then we laid down for some father/son time. About 5 minutes in I felt my arm get a little wet, then wetter, then wetter... I looked down and he was smiling... yep he was peeing and had filled his diaper and was giving me a pee bath! Laugh So I got up and changed him, then we laid down again... didn't wake up for quite some time... I think 3 - 4 hours. Man was I beat! Just finished dinner and getting ready to crash for the night! LaughLaugh

Fife - TheQ said that has a nice ring to it!

well I guess I should log off and see if I can find my brain... probably got taken out with the linens Christina christened last night.
