Pat, yes you can hunt coyotes in VA.  In fact, in 2011, VA offered a $75 each reward for them.  Cut it out last year as some were being shot in NC and taken to VA for the bounty.

On the coyote front, the coyotes were introduced into VA some 15+ years ago by the do gooders at the VA state Extension office. Even the Sheep Specialist said  "All animals need to learn to get along". A real city boy. Now we have to many so I sent some down to NC. Apparently they have enough of there own. Doug, first I have herd of them invading a house.

Chief - I am not sure we can hunt coyotes in VA, but then if they are attacking livestock?-------.

Pat it is open season here all year and $35.00 if you take in the ears. Yes A lot of guys like to night vision hunt them but you can't kill enough of them. They are everywhere.

Ahhhh........ nice to be home.

Didn't add any decals, but heavily weathered the cars I got for my birthday and finished adding decals to #790, an H16-44 Fairbanks Morse Small Trainmaster. Also added heavy weathering to it. Plan on posting a  picture once I can.

Good afternoon all,

It is miserable outside in SE Indiana with temps in the 30s.  Went to Mass and that was about it for the day.  Will watch Once Upon a Time tonight.  Quiet week at work ahead.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.  I did see where Ganassi won the 24 Hours at Daytona....again.

Keep on training,

Aloha. Waiting on the freezing rain to roll in. But it should be 55 by Tues. Wow! Back from serving at church. Cold is better.

Brutus, V-stock sounds like a great store. Too bad you didn't find what you are looking for.
LV, let me add my congrats both for your milestone in Scouting and your birthday.
Mike C, that NY&NH painting by Hopper is very nice. I'm waiting for NIghthawks to return to the Art Institute in Chicago. It's been visiting somewhere.
Charlie, congrats on your dad's tractor. Highlight of my summer was the annual Steam 'Bee' and tractor show just west of here.

Jeffery, a scale ruler??? Sounds neat.  Hmm

The markings on it are in scale (HO) feet and meters. It makes measuring a scale object easier. No having to convert 1:1 measurements to 1:87.1 feet and vice versa.

Good morning!  Good afternoon!  It is 39 degrees, overcast and drizzly in my part NW MO.  A good day to be inside.

LV - congratulations on achieving Eagle and again, Happy Birthday!  Happy B-Day

MichRR714 - It was great to read that your Dad was able to fulfil his dream of having a tractor.  I hope it gives him much pleasure for many years to come!

Ryan - just so happens a few days ago my oldest daughter mentioned to me that her Mother was wanting to replace our present tv in the living room with a flat screen tv.  I should mention that the current tv is doing just fine thank you!  She has not yet mentioned a flat screen to me.   Perhaps I shouldn't be to surprised if one day I find a box sitting in the living room with a flat screen waiting to be installed.  Indifferent

Chief - yeah, watch that cold, I've had a couple instances where what a thought was a simple cold turned into something worse.

SPRay - glad to hear there was no serious issue with the 224 and that it is back in action.

Doug - sorry to hear about all the trouble with traction tires.  I wish they were not needed and we could just operate without them.

Installed my new ZW-L yesterday and ran trains for a couple hours.  Pretty impressive.  Because of all of the new technology put into some of the newer offerings it seems there is so much more that can go wrong.  So far though, all is good with the new transformer.

Going to work on the website for a while I think and say something about the new ZW-L.  Have a good afternoon fellas!  Bo  Smile

Did not see the program.  I assume Diane Feinstein was one of them, who was the other one?  While Feinstein would not win any beauty contest, I wouldn't call her ugly.  Don't know about the other one.

Chief, That is their only "endearing" quality, they represent what has unfortunately become of this once Golden State.

Friday turned into a good day after starting out in the dumper. After doing the normal housekeeping chores in preparation for opening I put my rolling stock on the tracks. That's when it started going downhill. First engine up, after servicing, was one of my Lionel C-420's which promptly threw a tire on both the front and rear trucks. Whistling Set that one aside for repair after we open and get it's sister C-420 up and running w/no problems. Thumbs Up Pull out the Challenger to setup for the woodside reefer consist and you guessed it, it threw/broke THREE of it's four tires. Bang HeadGrumpy Since only two of us were able to make it that required I take care of the issues that disabled two of the three locos I brought with me, had intended on using the C-420's to alternate with the Challenger. All's well that ends well.

Rained all day friday and a little bit of everything all day saturday, rain/fog/drizzle/wind/a peek of sun and some really low clouds that obscured the hills here in the neighborhood. Same for today only colder supposedly.

Looking forward to the WGH tour here the second weekend in Feb., the museum will have a booth to help promote itself. It's surprising how many longtime locals don't know of it's existence.

Time to get busy.

Good Sunday Afternoon!

Nice and sunny day, a chance to relax.

Felt like making Belgium waffles for brunch, mmmmmmmm! that and some orange juice, pulp of course and coffee. Maybe I'll imitate Chuck and nap later also! Laugh

As HudsonJohn mentioned earlier I started to invade the dinning room last night. We have a double window there and the sill must be about 4 inches wide. Just the perfect place for a six foot trolley. So far my invasion has received a 50-50 response.

LV - Happy Birthday! Happy B-Day and congratulations on your accomplishment!

Later!

Good morning,

28 degrees and they say freezing rain within the hour. But the radar looks like we will have just rain. Maybe DougM will get the frozen stuff.

JimmyT and Ryan. I think my problem with the newer stuff is because I was out of the hobby so long. I quit running trains at 16 and did not get back in till three years ago. So I missed out on 42 years where profit took over quality slowly. Someone who never got out of the hobby may have never noticed. I mean when I was a kid everything worked and never broke. Toys for Kids. Now don’t look at one wrong or it will break. And for 14 and over. Not toys. I did have a 4 x 8’ layout in the early 80s for my son but we used most of the old stuff. I did get him a SantaFe GP7 6-8263 and that seemed like lightweight stuff then. Ryan I have 10 of those new O42 Lionel switches and they just plane suck but to replace them now with Ross would break my bank. So I deal with it. I can barley pull my new postwar inspired Blue Strip passenger cars through a switch without a derailment or light show of sparks. Surprise

John, like you I was driving stick before I could reach the peddles on the tractor. They started us out on the tractors with hand clutches. John Deere A & G. So driving s stick car was natural when it came time for that. Wink

LV Happy B-Day  Cake

SPRay, Glad it was a small issue with the 224 Yes

Ryan, one mans trash is another mans gold. I will be sending you a PM answer in a bit. Thanks!

Good morning, 8 degrees at beautiful Bayville, NJ.

Slept in today and woke up with a stuffed spinning head. Took Mack and Chester out for their morning walk and just got back. Those 2 did not like the cold and I do not think we went 1/2 mile today. Mack is asleep by the wood stove and Chester went into the garage.

Today is take down the Christmas tree. Yes we enjoy the tree and it still has the smell and it is just starting to droop. It took my wife 2 days to decorate it. Enough ornaments for 3 trees and she always picks ou a BIG tree.

I have not heard from AF53 after his text last night that he set a running trolley up in the dining room.

Prayers for all in need.

Enjoy the day!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a cold 14 degrees.  Going up to 37 today with warmer weather coming next week. Rain, too.  That figures.

Today is an easy day. I plan on spending a few hours in the train room, after a few chores. Still working on the switch project. It is a slow process. I have lots of time.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Good morning. It's 57° with 100% humidity and fog. It'll be cloudy with a high of 75°.

I have a train running as I type this. Three geeps on the head end of a general freight and a SW1500 and F unit slug pushing. I have the 1500 running in reverse behind the slug. It seems to be happiest there.

The only layout related plans for today are general clearing of clutter. My plastic scale ruler is crumbling on me so I downloaded a printable scale ruler PDF file from Miniature Planet and printed a new one on heavy card stock and sealed it with a good coat of Valspar Clear Flat. It should work well until I can get another clear plastic one.
