Got the chores done and am going to work on the railroad for awhile.  Later I have to take our dog Dixie to the vet for some routine stuff.

Kev - your making some good progress on the new addition.  Thumbs Up

Aloha everyone. Mid-40s here and supposed to be mid-50s tomorrow! Then temps crash again. Great TARDIS ride last night. Finally feeling better with this cold. I worked all the church services OK too but stayed in last night with the sleet and freezing rain.

8n, what a nice purchase - the crane car sounds nicest to me.
Joe and Pat, I've gotten into Downton Abbey. It's a good soap. They have awesome train station scenes.

Good morning. It's 65° with 97% humidity. It'll be cloudy with a high of 75°.

Yesterday I got some of the clutter cleared from the layout. Today I plan to remove more. But planning to do something and actually doing it are two different things. Other things tend to get in the way. Other things around here equals family. They're busy getting my mothers things sorted out for whatever fate awaits them. One thing for certain is that the ministry's for the needy around town are going to be getting tons of clothing. What they intend to do with the antiques and other stuff I have no idea. I've already told them that any electronics will pass by me before they go out the door. Well what's good electronic items and bad electronic items all look the same to them. Checking them out and testing them for condition, use and functionality is one of my areas of expertise. So naturally I get called down there to check some things out every couple of days it seems. There wasn't a call yesterday or the day before so today will probably be the day.

Temp is 36. late evening began as snow, turned to freezing rain during the night so now we have slippery slush.

I was up all day yesterday, didn't sleep as good as when I take my couch time. Schools are closed so granny is with 2 of the grandsons. Nope I'm not doing it over. Have a great Monday. Tomorrow morning it's back to the specialist for another skin cancer removal. Phyllis? She looked even worse after all her face lifts....S.J.

Good mornng all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s.  Day started off not so well as PT Cruiser engine light came on about 3 miles out of town.  Managed to get it home and take the truck instead.  Should have taken truck anyway, but it was low on gas.  Still had to fill it up.  Going to be a long day.  TBIL.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning all.  The Yankee freezing rain forecasted did not make it.  Seems the temps stayed well above freezing and only a light shower or two.  Just made a messy morning.  Warming into the 50's today.

Two meetings.  No workout as do not want to make cold worse.  Will hit it tomorrow.  Hope to get some Box stuff done between meetings and especially after it clears off.

Have a good week.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a warmer 36 degrees. Going up to 48 today with a chance of rain. This weather is really a mess.

Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then I will relax and read my latest copy of CTT. I like the layouts in this issue. Lunch and a nap are on the schedule.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Good Morning, wamed up to 26. Waiting for the snow to start.

Getting ready to take Mom for radiation. Today may be the last round. Then it is Chemo every 3 weeks. I did meet 2 train guys waiting for their wives there. 2 of us were reading CTT and we started talking. The 3rd guy joined us. It broke the ice and made waiting more enjoyable. We had other people join in the conversations and share stories about growing up and trains.

8n, Looks like you made a good score at the LHS. Congrats!

SPMan, Ray Prayers for Bea and your friend and his wife.

Demay, Joe, Honest, My Aunt Rita looked a lot like Phyllis Diller and even dressed wacko. My wife and I still laugh when we look at our wedding pictures. She was really out there!

Konbanwa,

I slept in a little longer this morning and then went for a 16-mile run.  I planned to run 18 miles but it was extremely windy and that took its toll on me.  I used a day of leave today since I knew the run would take about three hours.  I rested this afternoon and then made coq au vin for dinner.  That is a slow cooking meal so it helped that I didn’t go to work today.  I’m still somewhat tired so I’m sure I’ll turn in early tonight.

Saying Phyllis Diller looks better than anyone should be a violation of the Forum’s policy and the post ought to be deleted. Laugh

My wife and daughter watch Downton Abbey on either Hulu or PBS’s website.  The show is not my cup of tea.

8N – Your new black bonnet set looks very cool.

Kev – The new addition is looking great.  With all the room you have, I’m sure you’ll add a few more in the future.

Sayonara,

Joe

Phyllis Diller looked better!

What ever!

Went out to eat with my friend who's wife is in the care of  Hospice people at a nursing facility.  He's already talking about cemetery property and trying to prepare himself.  I am trying to help him run down some property for sale by owner instead of through the company that operates the cemetery.  I got mine that way and saved a lot.  These things are not pleasant but we all have to face our final disposition one way or the other.

Funeral tomorrow morning for our friend Bea (96).  Hope it's not raining.

Good night all,

Ray

Charlie - your dad got a nice tractor.  Gotta watch the PTO on that one.  It is on the pinion shaft on the differential, so if you have something like a brush hog on the tractor, the momentum in the brush hog is enough to drive the tractor - even when the clutch is 'in'.  The brakes won't be much good in that situation, either.   Make sure your dad puts an over running clutch on the PTO.  They are not expensive, are a great safety item and will save garage doors, trees, fence posts, the tractor grill, etc., etc.

Thanks for the tip Thumbs Up

Nice quiet day today - nothing much going on, but did catch up talking with some friends including one in Canada and killed some zombies on xbox.  We watched the last episode of Walking Dead from back in December, so just waiting for the new shows to start up in a week or two.  Laundry is running, too.  Had a nice chat with SJ, Doug and Charlie tonight - plans and plans for plans, good stuff.  TARDIS is ready, so let's go!

Almost sunny and  in the high 40's today.  We missed the freezing stuff that some of the other Missouri folks got.

Got a few items checked off of the honey do list today - no lost tools, no falls, laserations, or contusions.

Yesterday was a little strange.  My wife was working at the depot, so after she came home about 3:30, we decided to go to a Mexican resturant in the next town that we like for a late lunch, early dinner.  About the time the food got served, I realized what day it was.  We had reservations for a 7 course dinner featuring the wines and food of northern Italy at 7pm last night!  We got go boxes for the Mexican food, then headed home to sit down for the 7 course dinner at 7pm.  Like the old Alka-Seltzer commercial "I can't believe I ate the whooole thing!".  Good dinner, but we were stuffed.  I woke up about 2:30am with a big case of acid reflux.  The Two Towers Lord of the Ring movie was on - I watched that until about 4:30am when my stomach settled down.

The old trains that the LHS got in turned out to be a small collection of postwar Lionel and Marx.  I made a stupid low offer, the LHS owner made a reasonable counter offer and I walked out with the stuff.

Highlights of the stuff include a #610 Eire switcher, a #2018 2-6-4 steamer with a streamlined whistle tender, a #50 gang car (brown moving man, blue stationary men with painted faces), a trolly, a nice red/green light signal tower, a pair of maybe pre war manual 027 switches, and a red cab Busireus Eire crane car.  The other items include a large assortment of 027, O, and Marx track, several rather common Lionel and Marx rolling stock, and a disassembled Mars plastic body diesel in Sante Fe markings. There are parts for some Plasticville buildings and a very scary looking 1032 transformer too.   All of this stuff is very dirty, but it looks like it will clean up well.  I had the #610 on the track today.  The e-unit cycles and it tries to run.  I'm pretty sure a good cleaning and lube will set it right.

I polished the rust off of the side rods on the 4-6-2 steamer I got for Christmas.  The side rod bolts needed polishing too.  Unfortunately, I snagged one of the side rod bolts with the wire brush in  the Dremel - one second it was in the pair of pliers, the next second it was nothing but a 'click, clak' noise on the other side of my shop Bang Head.  I hope replacements are available.

Chief - our TV has been on the Hallmark chanel all day - my wife is watching all FIVE of The Good Witch movies.

All for now.

Good evening Y'all.  Got called in from church to handle an emergency.  I finish call in the morning.  Chief, Pat, we have them down these parts too, but are nowhere near as bad as wild hogs.  From what I have been told, they  brought them here to be game for fox hunts when we had a shortage.  Now we have both, but aggressive hunts have kept numerd down.

God bless,

On the coyote front, the coyotes were introduced into VA some 15+ years ago by the do gooders at the VA state Extension office. Even the Sheep Specialist said  "All animals need to learn to get along". A real city boy.

Sounds like a real brain trust in charge of the State Extension Office. In fact it sounds like some of the 'official' screw-ups in charge down here.
