Ray - Did the Doctor say anything about the carbs, sugar and starches, especially wheat products? The Chief knows what I am talking about.

It's a sunny 61 going into the 70s. May be a long time before we see 70 degrees again. Jeff how could you? another spy on our pot. Having the other one showing off his authority was enough. Granny is outside, yep cleaning windows. I swear the panes of glass are getting thinner. I should take advantage of this warm day to cut the grass but I feel lazy as usual.

Don't worry, I won't be a slave driver or one of those who advertises what he's done. I've served as a mod on about a dozen forums in the last eight years and have plenty of experience in making any changes to suspect postings nearly invisible. Just a dis-allowed word or phrase would change or vanish here and there and that's all there would be to it. In the case of a flame war an entire thread could vanish if it were bad enough. Usually just removing the offenders post(s) is enough to defuse it. I'm just the same easy going guy you've all known. I've always been watching from the shadows.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Drizzly, Foggy, & Seasonal 60 Taxachusetts,

Now this is getting downright depressing.  The sun must be on strike, mostly wet and dreary here now for about 10 days.  The rain should continue on and off with a brief respite tomorrow, then back to the wet stuff for the weekend.  Our Fall foliage colors are about a week behind DougM and KEV even though the weather misforecasters had predicted that the drought and heat from the Summer would result in an earlier Fall.  Would someone please explain to me how my local weather forecast can predict a 70% chance of rain.....while it is raining!!!!  That's 100% to my math mind.  Last night these same knuckleheads predicted a Winter with more snow than average Bang Head

Wifey was aggravated last night because she kept changing the channels but could not escape the debate.  Being a resourceful person, she switched gears and went shopping on the internet. She's worse than RT, HudsonJohn, and AF Ray when it comes to obsessive compulsive shopping.  WhistlingBang Head

Gasoline prices are still obscene up my way, topped $3.85 per gallon and has remained there despite the fact that demand (from the Summer driving season) is five weeks behind us.  Did you ever notice how prices climb at the blink of an eye but take forever to recede?  It seems none of the national and international news is considered a positive influence on helping edge prices downward.  I don't know about youse guyz, but neither of my two (older) vehicles are economical in any sense of the word.  Guess things could be worse, like it is for DougM, KEV, and the California boys.  Just read an article about the 10 worst states (lowest bond ratings):  Illinois and California made the list.  When will the voters in those states realize they have a spending problem? Bang Head

Spanky......you are on the road again.  Your pace is gruelling but Tyler sure will be glad to see you again.  Hope his tummy is accomodating the soft foods.  Do ice cream and Twinkies qualify as soft foods. Angel

Rich.......prayers continue for you on the job search front.  A second set of eyes concentrating on your resume is a good idea, even if you don't agree with some of them. Angel

Jeffrey........congratulations on your power grab!! Whistling  BTW, going forward "Jeffrey" is not a good name for a landscaper.Whistling

Fife.....sorry the Red Sox let you down as the Yankers pounded them to close out the regular season, just like the rest of the teams pounded them.  At least the Os are in the playoffs and are HOT!!!  DougM.....at least your Whire Sox were in the hunt, and the Cubbies won their final game of the season.  As LAZ and Chuck say, wait till next year. Whistling  SJ and Charlie must be on cloud 9 with what their Tigers have accomplished.

Chief.....when does your pace ever slow down?  Re your activities for the day, are vandals now in season your neck of the woods?  Is there a limit?  Do you strap your kills onto the hood of your 4X4? Whistling

DougM......was glad to hear you are on to the next step with your vision, new glasses.  The miracles of modern medicine.  A couple of relatives out this way will be off for cataract surgery/lens replacement soon.  I keep assuaging their worry by telling them how highly successful and effective these procedures are.  I also hope your youngest's visit to the eye Doc is no big dea.  Re your Freshman hockey playing son, be glad his games are held indoors.  My son's football games were (of course) held outdoors.  And I can remember too many times sitting out in the bleachers in torrential downpours and freezing temperatures......BEFORE he ever made it onto the playing field.  Paying our parental dues comes with both psychological and physical discomfort.  And what my son and daughter have not put together is this:  when is the only time in your entire lives you witnessed your Mom sitting out in inclement weather for ANYTHING, let alone a sporting event? SurpriseBang Head

Hey California boys!!!!!  Has it finally cooled off out there on the left coast?  The very thought of V8 Dennis running around without a shirt on is frightening. Whistling

KEV........those company-sponsored retired people's breakfasts would be more tolerable if they served tequila sunrises and mamosas, dont you agree?  Would need a police presence then.  Hope your buddy's deer-damaged F250 can be put back in proper order without too much $ out of his pocket, but with you as the copilot things could have turned out a whole lot worse. WhistlingLaugh

Later, gang..

Jack

Jeffery I read the announcement at the top of MR but diden't see it on CTT. I am new enough to computers I don't really know what a moderator do's. I see your a moderator of all Trains.com forums. Does that mean you read each and every post on all the forums. That would be a 40 hour a week full time job.

No, I couldn't possibly keep up with reading each and every post. The mods work in all the forums including CTT. When a forum member turns in an abuse report about a flamer/spammer/or just someone with a bad attitude it goes to the forum mods box which is accessible by all the mods/staff. The report is handled by the first mod that reads it. There are also new members whose posts are under moderation. We have to read those also to see that they're actual postings and not spam/ads/flame war posts. If they're legit they get approved. If not they get deleted or the poster is notified to change the post.

Lunch Time:

It has been quiet here today. Mom went for her petscan yesterday and is waiting for her results. I am going over there after work to do her laundry, have dinner with her and spend the night. She is doing well.

Laz, sounds like a plan!

Nothing new on the train front.

DJ, Safe Trip. Prayers for Tyler.

Have a Great Day!

Mornin' All.

Good debate lastnite. Thumbs Up

Local TV visited our layout yesterday morning, www.k u s i.com/video?clipId=7796993&autostart=true , if they post the second segment I'll add the link later. The software didn't like the letters in the stations name so I had to add  a space between the call letters. If you want to view the clip you'll have to do copy & paste the url then remove the spaces. Bang Head

Jack, I won't mention Ca. politics, don't want to get us shut-down. CostCo gas was $4/gal for reg, other places it seems to vary from about $4.15 - 4.25 .

Feels like the heat is over, after 10am and the temp has just now hit 70*. Yeah

DJ, Safe travels and prayers continue for your Munchkin. Angel

Time to get movin', gotta head to the bank then find some of those little flat batteries for halloween goodies.

Later all.

Good morning all,

Third day on walking this morning went well.  I started off walking about 20 minutes each time and I will add to that as I progress.  Yesterday had a low carb diet mostly with oatmeal for breakfast, one piece of whole wheat toast, salad for lunch and assorted fruit and vegetables for snacks.  Had Chinese food for dinner but that is chicken and vegetables with a few boiled shrimp.  Not perfect but better than some of the stuff I have been eating prior to this. Using cauliflour for potato substitute sometimes.  Keeping bread to a minimum.  No deserts until I find out what is safe besides Jello.

Pat, re carbs, about the only guide I have is the South Beach Diet book which my old retired doctor suggested some time ago.  I don't have diabetes yet and don't want any but I have to change my ways.  My triglyceride number was 411 which is way up.  The doctor says if it goes over 500 it could kill you.

Jeffrey, congratulations on your moderating recognition.  I haven't seen it yet  I don't get MR but only CTT and OGR.

later,

Ray

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI (perhaps the last one of 2012), and it was a spectacular night last night.  "My" soccer boys defeated their arch rival in a sectional game last night that was tied at the end of regulation, 2 overtimes, and the rnormal shootout.  It went to the sudden death phase of the shootout in which our kicker made his shot and the opposition did not.  The boys play for the title on Satuday.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Clouds moved in today, and the bottom is falling out of the temperature.  Freeze warnings for this weekend.

With the freeze warnings, I suppose I'd ought to harvest the rest of the herb garden pretty soon.  In the last week, we've gotten a good batch of sage, rosemary, and thyme - appologies to the Simon and Garfunkle fans - I haven't picked the parsley yet.

I forgot to say GO TIGERS! the other day.

Last night, I told my wife that we were going to have dinner Saturday night at a nice resturant near by.  "What's the occaision?" she askes.  "33rd wedding annaversary" I reply.  After a couple seconds of confused silance, she says "O yeah, that's right".  Bonus point for dad! Smile, Wink & Grin

All for now.

That's great news, Spanky!  Go Tyler!

Prayers for all in need and our intentions Smile

Nothing much going on here today - still have one day left of "september" for my deadline at work, but I think I can hit it.  Mom is doing much better with a change in her nausea medications.  Hannah is doing great with the rehab on her sprained knee, sure hope she can get off the crutch next week.  Char is doing well and still getting a kick out of her new phone (we got new phones to celebrate our anniversary - I guess the 18th is phones now?).  I took Kevin out tonight shopping for a new jacket as it's supposed to be cold out tomorrow night.  It is light enough, but should also be warm enough for him to wear for a good while.  I won't make the TARDIS tomorrow night, gonna get my METAL on with my son at th concert.  You guys be sure to have some fun without me Thumbs Up  We're ready to go tonight, so let's get our spoons ready for the banilla - Chewy has licked them all clean after our last flight Laugh

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

DJSpanky
Tyler's coming HOME!!!

WOW IS THAT EVER GREAT !!!!

Spanky, that has to be the greatest post on the pot!  So glad to hear it !

Jeffrey, Congratulations !  Boy have we ever gone a long way, now we have a Moderator who is a regular poster on the Coffee Pot ?!  Jeffrey you don't have time to go back and read the early postings do you?  And, they aren't really available are they?  It would just be a waste of time anyway.

Doug DG- I saw on an earlier post you had me up in the Valley, Actually I'm near Long Beach, we are only 7 miles from the Ocean, so we do have cooler temps than Ray, and V8Vega usually have, thanks to the daily ocean breeze.  Some days we may have as much as a 10 degree difference, usually 5 to 7.  Regarding the gas prices, its gone crazy !  Then the local didn't help when they announced that Costco was shutting down various locations for lack of gas, AND the price is up to $4.59.  (Out in Calabasas up to $5.69 !!!  Unbelievable!!)

Got 2 days off, and really looking forward to it.  Haven't an idea what I'm going to work on.  Maybe start a project involving redistributing power on my layout, especially regarding lights.  Also, found some perfect size Christmas lights at Michaels art supply.  They are made by Lemark.

Now that the soot (dust) has settled somewhat, I can discuss what happened last week.  Last Sunday I was firing on the Steam Engine, and had a "Blow Back".  Essentially what happened was the flame went out in the firebox, and you have 2-3 seconds or less to get it re-lit.  Well, didn't make it, and had a huge explosion out the rear of the cab. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but spread soot for a 30-40 foot radius around the engine.  Scared the @#!@$$%@ out of a LOT of people, including me!  I remember, thinking this is taking a long time, then BOOM, saw nothing but a wall of black smoke and flame, then thought "Am I alive or dead?  Must be alive, the engineer looks OK, what has happened?  Looked around the area and what a mess, soot was everywhere.  Found out later that all the engineers has had this happen one time or another, but it doesn't make it any easier.  BTW, when calm was retained and we where dispatched for a trip, we had gone about 200' and the engineer announced his foot was on Fire.  Sure enough the cuff of his pants where burned about 2" up the cuff half way around the leg! So, as a result of no injury, and no damage, got off with just having to suffer through the "ribbing".  The good news is earlier in the day, I had was moved over to the Engineer side for two trips.  So I guess the next phase of training begins.  UGH!

Really happy the hot weather has finally broken!!  Hopefully the cool weather will stay around for a while.  It is kinda ironic that the weather cools off, but were not running the steam engine, just the Goose.  (Spent 2 days this week driving the Goose 8 hours, and 2 days as a relief driver for breaks  and lunches then the rest of the time doing all the behind the scene chores.

Update on Bob's layout..... Table top is 240 sq ft, he has the hemosote down, and looking for carpeting to put on top, estimated cost $10/sq ft.

Been a long day, so stay healthy, and God Bless.

Hello all

Back in the Ol' Pueblo. The aspens are turning on the mountain though.

Saw the PCP and the podiatrist today. Sucked me for blood but no stabbing between the toes. Foot is improving and we can only get so many of those a year, so we are holding it in reserve.

Made a little more adjustments to the '65 Corvair today. Carbs seem to be relatively happy. Ordered a harmonic balancer and fuel pump for the van as well today.

Got two people coming to look at the bus. Hopefully my friend's giant rolling German footlocker will be gone soon.

DJ - great news about Tyler!

Joe - thanks for the card!

Jeffrey - congrats and I like the Alco!

Time to find a pillow. Early morning meeting

Good Morning

Well...here in London ON the start of the cool down is upon us...yesterday we hit 77F today? 57F and falling...tomorrow will be the high of 50F...with a little tinkly shower or two....

We had to water the trees around here ourselves pretty much through the whole summer as we seem to  have had about 25-30% of the rain we usually get around here...and, apparently we look to be settling into a below normal pattern for the fall as well...yay.

Today will be not a relaxed day for moi...as I have a few things to still do...such as HD things have piled upGrumpy...so I better be working here...Whistling

Hi GUYZ,

GREAT NEWS SPANK!!!!!!   Continued prayers for your family.

Cool here today at 51 with weekend really getting down there.  Today I received my vinyl fencing to put up next week.  Have a neighbor that I have to block out so gonna erect a fence between properties.  Today I will continue to cut back flowers and take to compost center.  Later gonna have fire with WIFE and cook out on fireplace.

CHUCK and BUCKEYE, TGIF!!!!!

Stay frosty my friends,
