Aloha. Nice and misty, rainy downtown. No luck out at the house where it continues to be drought-y. Prayers that Tyler's tumor keeps shrinking and for BoC's tests. 8n, that's quite a nice meal you had. DonB, my daughter and son liked interacting with the younger guests at Cedar Point. Worked a bit on the layout last night. Probably too early for the TARDIS.

Hi GUYZ,

63 and damp here.  Did all the PT already and now awaiting for the dampness to go away.  Gotta cut back more flowers and try and do the grass.  Ran trains yesterday afternoon while it rained outdoors, NO PILE UPs!!!  Felt good to watch the trains again.  Looks like the start of train season for me.

Stay frosty,

It's 60 and cloudy, we had some showers overnight but it doesn't look like much. The only veggie left in the garden are tomatoes as they will ripen wrapped in newspaper. STILL taste better than store bought by far....S.J.

Mornin' Y'all !

A gorgeous / marvelous/ delightful 62* this morning. So much for the good news, the bad news is that the "excessive heat warning" is continued thru today. Crying

At least I was able to get an early start yesterday morning and get some block/brick work done. Was finished and back inside before 9am, of course the "better half" gave me you know what for doing it in the first place. Hope she don't rat me out to the CHF support group next week.

Nothing significant on today's menu, trying to find a box with some of my halloween pieces/parts to start assembling my halloween cars.

Later All

Good morning. It's 69° with 75% humidity. The high will be 82° and it'll be partly cloudy.

Nothing much going on today. I'll be going to town later to do a bit of grocery shopping. No noise from down the hill so maybe I can get through the day without my father adding something to it. Work on the grain elevator is progressing slowly.

Good morning all,

Went to the doctor yesterday.  Report on triglycerides not good.  Way too high still even though I'm taking medicine for it.  So I''m back on the low fat diet and more excercise.  Started walking last night just before dark.  Came home covered in sweat.   Walked again this morning and much better.  Temp was 64 when I got up but will go much higher this afternoon.  Doc wants to see me again in two months with another blood test to check on progress.  The new diet goes something like this, if it taste good, forget it!

Jeffrey, hope the arrangements on your folks property is to your satisfaction.

Noticed  that Dweiner is posting again.  Hope all is well with the new kids.

Doug in Sandy Eggo, didn't realize it was that hot down there too.

Got a birthday coming up on Oct. 13th and grandson has his on the 17th.  We will probably celebrate together.

later,

Ray

Good afternnon all,

It is cloudy in SE Indiana.  Met with contractor on the house last night.  After deleting some features and reducing the space added on, the price is much more reasonable.  Hopefully by this time next year, I will have a train room after 35 years of home ownership.  Also, worked on writeup for local soccer tourney this weekend to be put in newspaper Thursday.  "My" soccer boys start sectional tonight.  Hopefully they will win, but I fear the officiating will be a disadvantage to them.  RI52, I think you are partially correct.  Other areas will get attention as time goes by, but I am not sure as to if or when the sunshine will return.  TBIL and I can drive after the game.  If there is win tonight, the barrel rolls will be many, and if there is a lost, bring lots of Old Mils to drown the sorrows.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

SP Ray......you are right.  You can't get there on diet alone.

You need to hook up with a diabetic who has tried everything that is out there on the market that accomodates low(er) levels of dietary fat, carbs (bad and good), and low sugar content.  You cannot possibly start from ground zero and try for yourself the zillions of better choice product substitutes in order to find the ones that taste decent.  Many out there have already done the legwork for you.  You might be surprised that you can get substitutes that taste pretty good and are still good for you.

Ask your Doc and the staff dietician for help.

Some of my extended family members are diabetic.  And the things they serve (and now I serve them at my place) taste pretty good, surprised even "junk food/fast food" me. DinnerSmile, Wink & Grin

Well I am back from the monthly Caterpillar LAZY Wink retirees breakfast and it was okay to see some of those guys others I could do without. I was surprised to see three of my old bosses there. One from when I was in management and two from when I was hourly. Most of them were old management guys. I did not see any union guys I worked with there..

The one boss from when I was hourly is now also into O gauge trains for his grandkids so that was interesting talking to him. Boy did I give that guy He** when I worked for him. Mischief  I think I may go more offten but not every month. The up side was that Yorkville is close to Oswego so I drove over to my son's and saw him, the DIL and best of all the grandson. Smile

SPRay good luck with the diet. Something I don't look foward to, but sure someday it will come to that too.  Sad

Jeffery, The elevator is starting to look good. Yes

Ray, Sometimes I regret not buying in Sandy Eggo except for the higher property values & taxes, we are about 36 miles outside the city in Escondido. Kinda like you, Don and Dennis out in the inland valley where it gets much hotter in the summer and much cooler in winter than in the city.

Back to my search, later.

Well today was no better than yesterday! I no sooner made my morning post than my father calls with things that have to be done before his visitors get here. So I helped him out with that then it was off to town for lunch and a trip Wal-Mart. Lunch was at a Mexican place we frequent. Tell you what, you go there you better bring your appetite! Prices are good and the portions are BIG. then it was on to Wal-Mart. This I didn't mind too much as he was saving me a drive to town for grocery shopping. I did my shopping right then plus picked up a new flash drive to replace the one that died.

I got back home and discovered I had a couple of packages waiting for me. One contains a little gun store. Looks like maybe an old Woodland Scenics metal building. The box also has a load of grain elevator parts and pieces! Just the thing I need. The other box contains two locos. An Athearn RS-16 with a bum motor and what looks like a Mantua SP F7A dummy unit. Wonder how long it'll take me to slap a powered chassis into it.

Well I tore down the RS16 and it appears the motor isn't bad after all, just very dirty. I cleaned the brushes and commutator with 91% alcohol. The amount of crud that poured out was significant. Three fingers on my left hand turned black! I rubbed the commutator with an alcohol soaked paper towel until all I could see was clean towel. It runs like a champ now and I consider it worthy of converting to DCC.

On the Mantua F7A I have an F7B body in the closet somewhere. With it and the F7A body I can change a couple of FT's to F7's. The FT bodies are on Athearn clone F7 frames with Frankenstein power and drives.

Another long day here, can't wait for this 3 day weekend coming up Thumbs Up  Mike, good luck for the team and hope for a fun ride either way Smile  Prayers for healing, good tests, and for our intentions.  Nice chat with SJ tonight.  I got an 810 derrick car out of the loot that RT won on ebay for a good price.  It showed up today along with most of a searchlight car.  The original owner painted them black and it looks like the underlying paint was mostly missing?  I'll fix up the searchlight car and keep them otherwise as-is for a while.  Maybe someday I'll try and restore them?  RT - you did a great job packing them, because Fedex crushed the box but the cars were fine - good job, man!

TARDIS is ready, so let's hit the sky, into the blue!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a cloudy 50 degrees. Going up to 75 today with a chance of rain.

Today is a busy day. I have an early errand to run and the usual chores. A project to work on. Then, lunch and a nap.

Baseball season is over for the Indians. They lost the last game to the White Sox. It figures. I will watch the playoffs.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Smile, Wink & Grin Good, huh?

On vacation (again).  Grandbaby coming over in a little bit, so my first day off is already decided for me.  He's a little upset with me over the trains not running during the new construction.  Gonna have to fix that.

Hi GUYZ,

66 here and rain again.  Rained most o day yesterday so couldn't do outside stuff.  Got PT done now gotta take dog for walk.

MIKE C., hope you had BARRELL ROLLS last nite?  I'm good at drowning out the sorrows with the OLD MILs.  Just like my CLEVELAND INDIANs, wait til next year.

SPMAN, RAY, remember pace yourself.  When on any exercise program, start out slow and progess into it.  If you are walking say a half mile, next day add a telephone pole to it and everyday keep on adding until you get to your goal.  Tough to start but once your doing it you'll begin to want more everyday just be consistant and you'll notice big gains.

Stay frosty,

Morning.  Partly cloudy.  Could have showers up to lunch.  Hope it does not rain on the postponed ribbon cutting.  Getting ready to pack 4 Runner with 6 center fire rifles, ammo, led sled [two are real shoulder banger big cal.] and etc.  Will head to the lake house as soon as ribbon cutting and meal is over.  Hope to shoot them in this afternoon.  Then do final cleaning of house.  Wifey and her buds are coming up tomorrow afternoon.  I will leave coming back right after noon tomorrow.  "Baby sitting" the weekend for her to go up.

Aloha. Sunny and warm today. Looks like it gets 20 degrees colder tomorrow. Brrrr. Not ready for it. The autumn leaves look just spectacular here. Our front yard has bright yellow, orange, purple, and reds!

Going to see the eye doc to get new post-cataract glasses, and take the youngest in to see if his eyes are affecting his ready. Middle boy has his first college hockey home game tomorrow - I hope to leave early to get there even if he doesn't play. Mike C., congrats on the train room. I feel privileged to have a piece of the basement.  It's fun to have a space. That was a bittersweet end to the season last night, Chuck. Congrats to everything-in-moderation JeffreyWink
