Dougnotta - nice one on the Wild Turkey....Laugh

SubBob - Yeah, exhaust work.....Bang Head Black Eye. Unfortunately, its time thin the herd as it were.  My financial situation does allow for multiple toys right now.  I put the neon on slow 2A charge and it does ok.  As far as the Bass Boat....it would be a better candidate for reef than boat....Laugh

Spank - Nice banner!

Chief - I was being sarcastic (which doesn't translate well via textual message....Laugh  ),  I had PTSD training 30 years ago.  We did the training and  teaching seminars.  As a chief officer, it was my duty to recognize problems or symptoms with my firefighters.  The courses were an early attempt to redefine "battle fatique" for private citizens.

Cool and windy today into the 60's later....Bright Sunshine here in Jersey.

Had time to post as all the dirty cars ar nice and shiney.....just waiting for our Risk Manager to show up.  More fun than I need today Bang Head

Lunch Time:

Busy morning here in Central Jersey. These old trucks and units are getting tired and they want everything NOW with no people.

I can not wait until Thursday after work, when we are on the road to YORK. What time are we meeting at the CTT booth? Anyone for breakfast on Friday?

SP Ray: RIP Mark, Prayers

RT: Hang in there. I will try to make the Tardis.

Chief / Rich: Even with the debriefing / counseling the visions and experience stays with you. I remember quite well the days before the debriefing / counseling sessions. I remember the incident with the Charger.

DJ: Prayers for Tyler

Roy, Looking forward to meeting you.

Doug; I hope that your wife's friend is ok.

Back to work

John

Chief.......take the AR and a lot of loaded clips when you go deer hunting.Laugh  I agree with the others, the smell of grits on you may be giving you away.

Later, gang!!!

Don't own one and do not plan of buying one.  Too much like a M16.  Even though I am a big NRA member, do not think AR's are really hunting rifles like the industry is putting on TV.  If you can't kill an animal with one shot [or put it down fast with the second], you don't need to be hunting. Chief, I agree 100%

Chief, and Ray,   I Agree as well.

I think the only time hunting with a AR would be a good thing is if someone was hunting me. Surprise

Windy and a nice 70 degrees here in North Central IL.  I got my driving record from the DMV. $12.00 to get a sheet of paper that only said end of record. Indifferent I was shocked to find that there was only one guy and I  at the DMV. I even took a newspaper for the wait. Confused

Later folks.

On the hunting seen I haven't been in years and I mean years like about 30 lol but I still don't believe in where these guys run around in trucks and radios and all to hunt. I was brought up in PA. where we would stake out and sometimes have some one go out and try to stir them up to get them moving so they would head toward where we were staked out.

On the train side the 50 gang car has some type of grease in it that I need to get out and and then re-lube and oil where need be and I believe it will run fine it runs now but it gets hot fast from straining I guess with that heavy grease thats in it. Needs a good cleaning ( the orange shell ) and believe will make a nice addition to my collection.

Hope all having a good day time to go take a shower and get ready to goto the auction for the wife.

Afternoon Fellas

Thank you for the prayers - they are definitely needed.

Laz - TheQ is upset with you and me. Seems my little venture into the basement with Christina on Saturday has perked her intrest in trains. I was looking at the Lionel Catalog last night when Christina came into the office and climbed up on my lap. As soon as I clicked on the page with the new Thomas Remote Control set Christina went bonkers! TheQ came in to see what all the commotion was and when she saw what Christina was looking at she said "Oh great! And just how did you find this?" - "Laz from the train forum posted that the new catalog was online"... "I don't like him either now". Surprise BUT it looks like I know what Christina is getting for Christmas! Big Smile

Good afternoon gang,

Brent, That looks like a great Christmas gift choice.  I think Lionel may sell quite a few of those to Fathers around the country.

As I noted on the York thread, I will be coming to York for one day on Friday.  Jean had a knee replaced on the 4th and I have been pretty busy, cooking keeping the house in order and helping her with getting around and doing her exercises.  She insisted I spend a day at York so I gave in to her. Big Smile

On a sadder note, my uncle, an ex railroader with PRR and Amtrak, who is 93 is in very bad shape.  I did slip away to visit him in the hospital for a short time yesterday.  He was like a second father to my when I was young as my father was not much of an outdoors enthusiast.  Uncle Bud was the one that I spent many days with fishing on the Susquehanna.

Coffee's cold

It's 54, wasn't a bad day but summer is gone. Well as expected I got leftovers for supper. I'm not telling you she fed me home made bean soup and then chili. I finished pulling out the tomato plants this afternoon, Got a lot of green ones to ripen indoors. Seems like I just planted them. Tigers take on the mighty Yankees tonight at Detroit. They start in about 5 minutes. No banilla for me but I got plenty for the thingy crew...S.J.

Yous guys must all be watching the Dahbate. Dots - Sign

Well I am listening to it from a far.

Handed in all of my paper work today at 11:30 AM and got called out on a shuttle run at 3:00PM . Huh?

A quick run to Bolingbrook Auto Arena with two other guys to pick up two cars that did not sell. I could see why the one I brought back did not sell, it lit up every warning light on the dash before I got it back. Surprise SO I am now working for minimum wage again, first time since 1968. Hmm Laugh

Murphy is alive and well and living under my kitchen sink. The outlet pipe on my water heater sprung a leak a few hours ago right where the pipe goes into the water heater. I turned the water off at the road but Murphy apparently has an address there too. The valve won't cut off all the way so there's a trickle getting trough. Just enough to build up pressure and spray out in a mist. If I'm not online tomorrow you know why.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Back from the hunt.  No deer.  Not a single mangie doe.  4 turkeys right under my stand, a rabbit runs from the woods into the cotton field and lots of squirrels eating the corn in the feeder.  One squirrel ate for over an hour.  Can't believe he could climb a tree after that meal.

Got to chat with RT while driving home [4 Runner has bluetooth so hands free].

My buddy that went with me [first time we have hunted together] bought me a new bacon portabella cheese burger at Wendys.  Pretty good.

Now for a rest and TV.  [no, not watching the debate].

An African-American County Commissioner [PHD] told me two years ago when he got on the Commission.  Frank, people may be on different sides but if they sit down and talk to each other, they will find they have a lot in common.  You build on that.  Then you get things accomplished.  Wise man.

Meetings all day tomorrow.

DougDG.....you struck three chords with your post!!!!

First, happy 47th anniversary to you, and condolences to your bride!!! Thumbs UpDrinksLaugh  I think it was very thoughtful of you to have a nice, quiet, and romantic (take out) dinner at home.Whistling  Who says you don't have an imagination that keeps things fresh and exciting?

Yes, we did get hit with an earthquake up my way at 7:15PM Eastern time tonight, and the whole house shook!!!  The quake epicenter was near Biddeford Maine, about 80 miles due North of me, and it measured 4.0 on the Richter scale.  Minor damage has been reported as far South as Boston, about 20 miles to my South.  I will be checking for foundation and plaster cracks in the morning.  And wouldn't you know it.....the wifey is out of town!

And where would she be?  Why, in earthquake central, Southern California, of course!!!  Her plane just landed in Long Beach.  And what do you think she is texting me about?  "How is Maximus, was he scared, is he OK?  Do you know it's going to be 93 out here tomorrow?"  I should have told her that her entire shoe collection was wiped out in the quake and it is not insured. Bang Head

Later, gang.

GREAT NEWS on TYLER!  So glad he is home, Spanky!  Great talk tonight, man - prayers continue!

Had a very nice chat with SJ and Spanky tonight - no world problems solved, but some good time.

Prayers out for Brent and Ray's friends.  Jefelectric - prayers for your uncle and for your wife's surgery!

Jeffrey - yeah, lesson learned!

RT - prayers, brother.

Big storm is coming tomorrow, but the truck is fixed so no more leaks - took it in yesterday.  We talked to the vet today and Chewy will get her knees "surged" on the 23rd.  The kids have a couple days off school after that and hopefully she will be okay on her own during the days the next week.  It's going to cost $1K and that seems reasonable for the surgeries they are doing.  I was really afraid it was going to be a lot more than that.

The TARDIS is ready and we have cookies, banilla, and other goodies - let's get going.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hello all

Last night for this shift collecting photons. I will stick around tomorrow for a bit to help replace a couple of the roof seals. Was up there tonight making some measurements for the GPS antenna that I need to re-install tomorrow as well. With the clouds coming in from Hurricane Paul it was quite the impressive sunset. Sorry guys, no pictures, didn't have the camera on me. Will take some pics tomorrow though of our antics 70 feet up @ 10,500' elevation.

Kev - I'm one of the few people crazy enough to drive a 47 year old car as regular transportation. Fortunately, due to my job I don't have to drive the cars that much anyway.  But yes, they can be  a handful. Personally, I'd rather do this than pay for and drive a newer car. The new ones just don't excite me.

SJ - "she fed me home made bean soup and then chili"...uh, ohIndifferent

Chief - I trained w/ the M-16/AR-15 and consider it a poor weapon for several reasons. Some questionable safety issues for starters. I actually trained w/ the initial version of the M-16 (not the A1) that was not accepted until the bolt forward assist was added. We were not allowed to fire them. Assembly training only. I've heard some of the newer versions are better, but I don't have much experience w/ them. I think their popularity stems from 1) it's what the military currently uses (which, as we know, isn't always the best) and 2) "they look cool". Wish they would have come up w/ a military version of the Mini 14. As always, though, just my My 2 Cents

Anj - you've certainly made the most of your Neon. Hope you manage to cull the heard and find some better wheels soon.

RIJack - my lease is up at the end of the year anyway. I will be moving sooner or later, so I'm using this as a good reason to trim down some of my projects and focus a bit more. I have a bad habit of jumping into another project before finishing the current one. Helps me to be a bit more fiscally responsible and reduces stress.

The Corvair club has a trip to the Kitt Peak observatory this Saturday that I am leading. Hopefully, I will get a chance to ride there in my friend Ron's new covertable (the one that got my glasspacks). One of the guys is buying one of my radios as well (1927 Atwater Kent). Otherwise this next week off will be dominated by the "get the Corvan back on wheels" project. Will also flip out that exhaust manifold on the hardtop. I'll try and post a daily pic of the van project so you guys can have something to laugh atStick out tongue

Sun and clouds, 59 degrees going to 70 then late rain and colder tomorrow here in North Central IL.

Got to put my SS card back in the safe deposit box and mail a bill. Then no real plans unless the phone rings and I have to go drive.

Bob, I think your right about driving older cars but with IL road salting they never get too old if you drive them everyday.Sad  My only car project these days is trying to keep black clean. Wink

DougDG  Yes for the 47 years of bliss. Big Smile

Chief, meetings = free food?  You must be beefing up for winter. Smile

Aloha. Sunny and warmer today - will probably hit 70 - hope it gets to you, SJ - sounds like a great dinner last night. Love all kinds of chili.  JohnF, I'm glad Jean's knee surgery went well. Prayers for Uncle Bud. Brutus, great news about Chewy operation.  Happy 47 years, DougDa!  Sorry my laws are causing havoc, Jeffrey. They usually target Buckeye.  Bob, those Atwater Kent's are great radios - I have one from the early 30s - still works.

Not sure what today holds. I have a few meetings...
