Fife,

         Happy anniversary.

Kev,

Looks good.  Good luck keeping that black paint clean.Wink

Got my latest project in from Bob (Thanks BobBig Smile ):

Much better than what I was expecting, and much better overall than a similar 302 that cost 4x as much.  I have to get the rivet and bushing to reattach the tender truck, but that's a $3 fix at most.Thumbs Up  It needs taken apart and gonethrough, but I know it'll clean up very nice.

Probe - Nice project.

Brent - Its a fun ride, enjoy it.  They really DO grow up so fast.

Darkening skys now, misty and damp.  Not clearing until Thursday, so the weather guessers say.

Interview tomorrow - thanks for the prayers, I need 'em.  Looks promising....

I have recently bought a new SD card for my camera so I now can take over 2,000 pics befor I have to empty out so that changing the batteries a few times I would say.

They'll turn up when you don't need them. Mine always does. It almost always gets buried under a pile of junk mail or scrap paper.

Good night.  Actually getting warmer as each hour passes.

Heard from Shake and Bake.  Did not set anyone on fire this time.  Just tried to kill a chair.  That was followed by trying to stop the Goose on a "dime".

Off to bed.

Dennis.......I have no experience with automobile a/c units other than to have my mechanic swap them out when they fail.  I keep cars for 10-12 years and then get something fresher.  My opinion?  You are going to keep the Fiero GT (I would), and it is hot out there where you live.  So you may as well be able to enjoy it year round, especially in the heat.  $900 is short money to keep a 25 year old car up to snuff.

http://www.ask.com/wiki/Pontiac_Fiero?

But this is no ordinary 25 year old car.  The plastic-bodied Fiero's body panels don't rust.  So all that is required to make the exterior look brand new is a fresh coat of paint.  How many American cars were or are mid-engined?  You have to go to Porsche, Ferrari, or Lamborghini to get those.  How many mid 80s American cars offered 5-speed manual transmissions other than the Fiero and maybe Corvette?  The GT has the larger V6 engine with some scoot, and the 1987s had a lot of suspension and brakes improvements over the earlier models.  At about 2,700 pounds, the Fiero sips gas even by today's standards (up to 40mpg highway with the manual trans and optional axel ratio).

You have been reading about most of us who wish they had hung on to their "older iron."  That "hindsight is 20/20" speaks for itself.

I'd try the mechanic's recommendation for next spring.  If that doesn't work, get a new compressor.  In the meantime, check out a Fiero automotive forum.  Those guys usually have the same issues you are experiencing with the a/c unit and may have some solid recommendations.

Jack

HI guyz,

54 here and nice.  Took dog to river and back did my run now gonna do a little yard work and practice with the bow.  Shot good yesterday took 49 shots.  Trying to hold bow for 30-40 seconds at full draw on a 60lb. bow with 80% let off.  Easy for the first couple o times then gets a little hard into the session.  Gotta do this for if I get that shot on a big buck?

Stay frosty my friends,

40 degrees and bright sun out there in North Central IL. may hit 50 today.

I had to beg off on doing leaves yesterday because tooooo much wind and to dry to burn in that wind. It rained last night, not much, but too wet to sweep leaves and too wet to burn them. There will be billions by the time I get back to it. Bang HeadMaybe I will do like Chuck today and get my hairs cut.

RIJack and Dennis, Like so many things GM has done, they quit making the Fiero as soon as they got it right. Kind of like the Impala SS. I have heard that the sealer will work at times so I agree with Jack, give it a try. I would like a 1987 V6 for myself.

Chief, Got lunch meeting [free meal again]. Dinner Smile, Wink & Grin

LAZ as Mike C would say, Keep on Training. Dead eye. Wink

I would ask for some prayers for the future SIL's grandfather Jerry.  He is a great guy of 80 years old. He had some back pain and they found him full of cancer. They are giving him 2 month. So much they will not go in. Sad

Prayers for all in need, Angel

Doug, we have been fans of the Oak Ridge Boys since 1965 when we saw the perform in a small club. Talked to them that night in a basement reception of the show promoter. They have changed over the years, especially Richard Sterban, although he looks better today than he did several years ago.

Good morning all,

Sunny but cool in SE Indiana with temps reaching 50 maybe.  Sorry about missing yesterday.  GM has a big truck plant near Fort Wayne as KRM noted.  Prayers for Tyler.  SJ, that jack'o'lantern car is cool.  We have one as well.  My team played better last night, but we still lost 3-2.  Quiet day at work, which is good. TBIL and I can drive.  No barrel rolls tonight, but regional game will be on local radio tomorrow night.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning. It's 73° with 82% humidity, mostly cloudy with fog. The high will be 82°. Partly cloudy this afternoon with a chance of rain.

Nothing on the agenda for today except to rest. I might work on the layout later.

Good Mornin' Y'all From A Wet and Mid 50s Taxachusetts,

It sure would be nice if we got more than 15% sun the past couple of weeks.  Nonetheless, the Fall colors are coming on and the outdoor Halloween decorations are starting to appear.  The leaves are not yet falling in earnest, and the peak color here is now forecast for around the third week of October.  It's nearly time to get in some "dog photos" with the Fall colors since we just celebrated Maximus' 4th birthday this past Monday.

The carpet cleaners are scheduled to do the family room later today.  That room takes a beating.  If we didn't have so much junk, debris, and knick knacks, then emptying out the room(s) to be cleaned would not be a hassle.  I did manage to cut the content of my wifes' junk mail "on sale" magazines basket by about a third and relocate that portion to the recycling bin, hope she doesn't notice.......about two month's worth gonzo.  The basket that holds that stuff only weights about 35 pounds now.  And no, SJ, I am NOT going to clean the windows.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Another local (19 year old this time) driver struck a pedestrian, killed her dog and put the woman in the hospital (brain damage).  Texting while driving, and the cell phone records back up the police report and the prosecution's case.  Driver pleads "not guilty."  The tears the defendant shed in court makes me want to vomit.

Spanky.....every day when I try to catch up on the POT, I first scan for your updates on Tyler.  Prayers continue for his continued improvement.  You have the medical bases covered as well as something equally important......the one thing that has struck me.  Despite you and your wife running with overfull plates and very heavy matters weighing on your minds, you have managed to keep balance in your kids' lives and have taken the time for what matters most, quality time together and whatever sense of normalcy you can achieve, one day at a time, one train purchase at a time.  By the way, you don't get 3 hours of live job interviews unless the potential employer is very interested in what you have to offer them.  Interviews with the heavyweights?  All the more so.  Angel Thumbs Up

DougM.......my granddaughter is also in the fourth grade, like your youngest.  She got her scores back from the state-mandated standardized achievement tests (the English portion) and did quite well, an eyelash from being tagged "advanced"  She would have done better if she had answered all of the questions (had too many blanks).  Math standardized test is next, in the Spring, and I continue "tutoring" her each week for both her all-around homework quality and in prep for the Math tests.  Granddaughter tells my daughter and son-in-law " Grampy is silly, he makes learning fun.  And he makes me feel smart."

No matter what the current "fad" is in the methodology in teaching Math (some Chinese method here right now in the public schools), there is no substitution for the good old fashioned basics.  Yesterday I told her she had to know that stuff better than her own name.  One would think that after a long school day a child would be mentally tired, but she really gives it her all.  Grampy asks:   "If there are 24 bottles of beer in the refrigerator, and each bottle contains 12 ounces, how many ounces of beer do you have?  How many pints?  How many quarts, gallons?  By the way, how much does a gallon of beer weigh, in pounds, in ounces?  And if 6 guys equally share the beer and drink it all while watching the football game, how much does each guy drink?"  Teacher will probably not be amused with my teaching style.  Smile, Wink & Grin

BOC.......I hope you are feeling better by the day and are starting to put some pounds back on.  If you are looking for empty calories but also ones that add to the quality of life, read the previous paragraph. LaughBeer  Prayers also for the very sick wife of your friend.  Just being there for them means more to them than they will say right now. Angel

Rich.......prayers that this PA. interview bears fruit.  According to my wife who does recruiting for her Fortune 500 corporation, PC skills are nice but are not necessarily among the top 3 skillsets in importance when it comes to selecting the better candidate, ones that will have the greatest possible impact.  PC skills can be taught/developed.  Work ethic, teamwork and experience, and desire with a can-do attitude rate higher.  Focus on your strengths and they will hold you in VERY good stead. Thumbs UpAngel

Bob.......after reading your posts, I think I will hire you to come help thin out my world of useless junk we have laying around here.  When is the road trip with your Corvair? Thumbs Up

KEV........thanks for your soapbox compliment.  I do my best!!!  You are truly one loving, thoughtful, and romantic husband.  I never would have thought of buying my wife a nearly brandy new, pristine Chevy truck for an anniversary gift.  By the way, black is still one of the top 3 favorite colors in vehicle purchases (2011 data).  One in five choose it. Laugh

Brutus.....the yard and the landscaping "wants" will still be there unless one of your neighbors jumps in and does the retaining wall for you.  The "needs" you are picking for the house will pay you back every single day.  That's my 2 cents.  And the previous legwork you have done with the designs and quotes will still be time well spent when the time comes.   My 2 Cents

V8.........yup, dogs can sure be expensive, but to me $600 is short money for the pleasure they provide. Hope Cooper is feeling better each day.  With regards to Cooper's probable dislike of wearing the "Elizabethan" collar for a week or so..... I learned the hard way that it is better to get everything all healed up on the first pass than to unnecesarily pay for more stuff that would not have been necessary if I had not listened to the wife's "Oh, the poor dog, let's take the collar off" pleas. Thumbs Up

Fife.......happy belated anniversary, you romantic dog!!!!  We will have to change your POT name from Fifedog to something more befitting your masterful strategy. Whistling

Brent......the Chief has it dead right (for a change Smile, Wink & Grin).  With Christina,  you and the the Q are truly blessed!  We just have to help you make some lifestyle adjustments for your own good.  You are now spoiling two women, the negative repercussions of which will last for decades, maybe into the next generation of the family. WhistlingLaugh

Later, gang!!!!!!

Good morning all,

Trying to catch up on the forum today.  I missed it yesterday and got busy.  Went to see my gastrointerologist and that went well.  No new test were ordered and he does not want to see me again for 6 months.  My stomach feels a little bumed out today though mainly from eating spicy food (spaghetti sauce) that my ulcer does not like.  Have to cool it for a while on that.  Otherwise low fat diet is doing good and I'm keeping up the walking every day.

Prayers for TylerAngel  Could not find a recent report but gathered from the comments that he is losing some weight.

Got everything around here ready for the rain today but it has been a no show so far.  Now the paper says thunderstorms tomorrow but that is probably in the mountains and desert typically.

Dinner out tonight with church group.

later,

Ray

Hey KEV.........looks like I will have to use your leaf burning photos as my screen saver for the rest of the Fall.  By the way, I like to see you live dangerously.........leaf burning pile right next to your seasoned fireplace wood pile (and structure).  The only thing missing from the photo was a 5 gallon can of gas.  LaughThumbs UpBeer

LAZ......after hearing of your "60 pound bow pull exercise" you might be better off just letting Minnie run the deer into the ground while you follow up from the rear.  Then you can just saunter up to them a nail them.  No one will be the wiser, and you will finally be able to brag that you got a buck with a bow instead of a gun.  Laugh

MikeC............best wishes for your boys in their soccer sectional game tomorrow night.  Hope they leave it all on the field.  You can't ask for more than that.  They have made you and their families proud already!  Winners in my book! Thumbs Up

JimmyT...... Angel your job search heats up.  How did your recent exhaust swap work out on the M-GT?  Did you pass PA emissions?

RaySP......you seem to have found religion with your new diet and exercise.  And I was glad your checkup went well.  Keep at it!!!! Thumbs Up

Later, gang.  The carpet cleaning guy seems to have performed another major miracle.  Now all I have to do is wait a day for things to dry before I try to put the room back together.  I have a couple of box fans running to help things along, may drag up the dehumidifier from the basement to assist the process. Thumbs Up

Jack

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.

Safety first. Wink  I have been watching the fire and sipping on a beer to make sure all is well. BTW, Brian got his truck back from the body shop to repair the deer hit and they did a fine job fixing it up. Yes
