Sunny nad high 70's today.

Finally got home today.  What a week last week!  Took off last Tuesday afternoon to drive to Michigan for my wife's great aunt's funeral, which was held late Wednesday morning.  Spent Thursday and Friday visiting several vendors in Michigan working on a couple of my projects.  Attended my wife's family reunion Sunday afternoon, taking off for the return trip home after the reunion.  Visited my mom along the way and found some issues at the re-hab center she is at that needed addressing.  Oh yes - tried to keep all of my other projects moving at work by e-mail too.

On the brighter side, we saw some people that we have not seen in a long time.

One of the vendors I visited was in Windsor, Ca.  On the way back in to the U.S., I handed my passport to the border guard as I pulled into the check point.  He is holding my passport, reading it, and his first question is "citizenship?"  Wisely, I replied "U.S" and not "what does the passport say, can't you read?"

Gotta go back to work tomorrow to help keep the SS fund solvent.

Good night all.

Friend in hospital was not in critical condition as we were told.  Town Manager and I visited him at 2 PM.  Was in for biopsy.  "Adopted" Daughter [Hunters Haven's Wife and friend's surgeon's nurse] called tonight.  Son text her that Dad has stage 4 and nothing to be done.  Surgery tomorrow to stint duct from liver to intestine.  So it is critical.  Sad

KEV, you did not invite me to dinner [= free meal]. Wink  Had one anyway at Texas Road House.  To replace the one they screwed up a month ago when Wifey got take out for me.  Gave her somone else's meal to bring home to me.  Great steak and salad.  Had sweet potato instead of regular baked potato.  No carbs.  Was first meal I had all day.  Nothing but coffee this AM.

Lady is doing 9-11 breakfast tomorrow morning for all Public Safety/First Responders.  Will eat fruit.

RT, hope the engine is responding better.

Flag pole bottom is set in concrete.  Should have US flag flying at the Box tomorrow afternoon.

Sleep tight.

Konbanwa,

I had a busy Monday followed up by an even busier Tuesday today.  We have an extremely important inspection next week so we are spending a massive amount of time completing our final preparations this week.  I also have schoolwork keeping me busy at home as well.  Fortunately, I can watch a little bit of the football games on Monday and Tuesday mornings out here due to the time difference.  Other than that not much else is going on.  I took a few moments today to reflect back on 9/11 today, but unfortunately I fear too many have already forgotten.

John – I’m glad your son is okay.  It takes special people to do that job, and after an experience like that it takes even more courage to keep doing it. Yes

Laz – Great job on the race!  That is a very good time and you deserve some Yeunglings. BeerBeerBeer

Chief – Prayers for your friend.

RT – I hope you’re feeling better.

Doug – I understand the stress placed on kickers in certain situations, plus he is a kid.  However, he missed four FGs and had on PAT blocked.  Kicking the ball is his only job so he should be a bit better at it.  At the end of the day it’s a game and I got over it pretty quickly.

Kev – I’m glad your wife was behind the wreck.  I’m sure the local news out there is inundated with strike coverage.

Probe – I wouldn’t buy anything from that dealer again.  I would also consider lodging a complaint with the BBB.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a sunny 58 degrees. Going up to 80 today with sunshine.

Today is an easy day. I plan on taking it easy and do some reading. Maybe work on a train project. I have to put new pick up roller on my set of Budd cars.  Lunch and a nap , for sure.

Congratulations Indians.....You finally made it to last place. I knew if you tried hard enough, you'd make it. Or NOT tried hard enough.

Hummingbird feeders in the front and back yard.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Chuck

Good morning. It's 60° and partly cloudy. The high will be 88°.

I feel lousy this morning but that's better than I've felt the last few days. I'm running the F7A/F3B/F3B lashup this morning. I'll probably park it later and run the GP7/GP35/GP7 or the trio of GP9F's or I may forgo those and bring out the GP38-2/SD27J/F7 slug. Or I could bring out the ancient Atlas GP40 and FP7, both of which are Proto remotors. Almost all of these are Sundown rebuilds. Decisions, decisions. If I feel up to it later I'll go out and work on the tractor. No hard work there, just a lot of getting up and getting down. Getting down is easy. Getting up, that can be hard. That's providing of course that I don't wipe out on the front steps, but that rarely happens.

Aloha. Long meeting at church last night with the pastor sorting out lease, revenue and personnel issues. This morning's weather sure reminds me of a Tuesday 11 years ago.

SJ, that sounds like a nice trip.
John, I never kid with the border guards. That reminds me I have to renew my passport before I need it.

Hi GUYZ,

48 here this morning with lots o fog.  Went down to river and fog was gone.  WQalked back the 2.5 miles on the hill and fog is still here.  Oh well got it in and also a 2 mile run.  No eagles today.

RT, sorry I missed your call out side all day chainsawing branches and hauling away.  Hope you fixed the TMCC?  If you didn't try a reset of the engine and also the big this is having your TMCC earthgroung to some copper piping.  I had to do this for TMCC.

JACK and DOUG M and JOEY D, I was informed by the race director yesterday on our run at the Ned Smith lands that MINNIE finished secong overall in the dog category.  I told her if she didn't have a 200+ LB. anchor she woulda placed first.  I have her on a retractable leash.  Goes out to 16 feet.  I started out with a 3 foot lenght and that was crazy, so after 100 yards let her run.  If I woulda started up front I know she woulda won and I probably would have had a better race time.  But it was fun.

Gotta go rip off shed roof now.  Only one half then half tomorrow.  Hope to get part shingled today?

Stya frosty,

It's a sunny 61 going to 80.

Yep if you want to spend a few hours at the border, just give the border patrol guy a smart remark answer. Being close to Windsor Ont. a lot of teenagers go there to drink. Age is 18 there, 21 here. It only takes one remark on the way back to hold them for hours. It was just me and Brutus doing loop-D-loops last night.....S.J.

Morning.  Back from FREE 9-11 breakfast.  Now to do bill pay and go to a lunch [salad only] meeting.

Pretty cool day.  Wifey went out early this AM with dogies.  Buck standing in neighbor's yard.  Saw Finn and ran along fence line.  Finn chased him to the fence.  Buck tore through the tobacco field behind the house.

Waiting to insure that concrete is hard to raise the US flag at the Box.

Use to travel to Canada a lot.  Had French/Canadian buddy that went to NCSU with me.  Visited him.  Coming back was always a hassel.  This was way before 9-11.  Only time I had an easy ride was when I was driving a equiped law enforcement car.  Was coming back from a International Law Enforcement Conference in Ottwaw.

9-11 Never forget!  Angel

Had to get out and spray some RoundUp before the wind picks up. This should do it for this season.

I got my mainline crossing gates, K-Line cars and road stripes yesterday so I think I will spend some time working on the layout today.

Chief, How are things coming along in the box?  Huh?

Fife, Thanks for the pictures.

Hello all

't was a "refreshing" 41 @5:30 this AM (I wore a jacket)

As I recall 11 years ago the weather was very similar to today, I heard the news on the radio and went to the conference room and "Afro Engineered" an antenna on the vcr / tv combo. There was at least one of us there for the rest of the day. Then spent most of the evening in front of the TV. The local stations were all at the Flight # 93 site only about 40 miles away.

It was a sad day I'll never forget. Also dampened my birthday. 57 years ago today I came in to this world.

Been MIA a few days. there was an unexpected out of town visit to one of our jobs last Thursday and Friday. Saturday AM the home computer crashed (everything backed up) I had to set up the new one I bought last Christmas that was still in the box. Still haven't got Thunderbird working for email

Chief, sorry to hear about your friend.Angel

Debating wheather or not  wife and I will drive to the beach today.  One of our adult son's says he will drive but we can't seem to get motivated yet.  I like going to Dana Point, about an hour away but I hate to make a round trip in one day and come back in rush hour traffic.  Would prefer to stay overnight sometime and drive back the next morning.  Would ride Metrolink if the schedule was right but it is geared to inbound in the AM and outbound at night.  Just the opposite of what I want.

Our light rail line is progressing nicely.  They are tearing down the false work from a new major bridge over the 210 Freeway and are taking out the old track and ties for quite some distance so far in preparation to build new double track electrified line.  Suppose to be done in a couple more years.  It will come within a 5-10 minute drive from us when finished.  Eventually it will come through our town but that is a long way off.

Jeffrey, thanks for the videos.  Nice photos  of the layout also.  Stay safe!

Your right Jeffery,

I will never forget that beautiful clear day without a cloud or jet streak in the sky and that horrible feeling in my stomach thinking about all of the innocent lives that were taken.

On a brighter toy train note, I have finally got my Lionel Transfer Station scene up and running. Smile

I will never forget the quiet eerie it was after that for a few days as all flights where canceled as we lived right in the path to the airport in Tallahassee and we heard jets all the time even thou not very loud but they where there all the time and then silence. I remember that day as I heard on the radio about the first plane crashing into the twin towers called wife on friends cell phone and as I was talking to her the second one crashed into the twin towers.

Its a very hard thing for me along with my PSTD so I mainly try to avoid it or anything like that. I really gets to me.

Anyhow I did get the engine thing straightened out some how in shipping the antenna wire came off it still needs to be cleaned and lubed but its working a lot better.

Not much going on having my chilli dogs again tonightChef

Sunny and about 90 here today.

Happy birthday Banks.

The K-line Halloween festival piece got here.  Guess I'd better get started on the Halloween layout for the museum pretty soon.  Going to use the twice around track layout featured in the Texas Freight set.

Alco shell still soaking the B&O blue in Simple Green.  All the color is gone, but residue still on the shell after 24 hours.  Looks like it is going to take something stronger than a toothbrush to get the residue off.

Several years ago, before a passport was needed, a co-worker and I were crossing into Detroit from Windsor.  While we were in Windsor, he discovered that his driver's license was expired.  As I was driving up to the checkpoint, I threatened to mention something about Cuban cigars I thought he might have purchased in Canada.  Pulled his chain really good with that one!

All for now.
