Time for me to call it a night. I had intended to work on the tractor today. I got down there and started getting the tools together and my body said 'Oh no you don't!'. My energy was gone and my get up and go got up and went. So I got some laundry done then went back home. Tonight my father and I went to KFC for dinner. It gave him a good chance to tell me that my mother is getting bad off again. She has another abdominal infection flaring up and they're trying to head it off before it gets too bad. He has to take her to Alexandria tomorrow to see a doctor there. So far that;s all the information I have. See y'all tomorrow.

8NT - seriously, between soaks, try alternating an ink-pen eraser and that toothbrush. I did that once and it worked with the simple green concentrate.
Jeffrey - prayers for your Mom.

Glue is dry on the shower and it seems like everything is working fine for now lol! TARDIS is ready, so let's fly!

See that the Chief is back, looking forward to the next series of pictures from the box.
9/11 been on my mind a lot today! Prayers for ALL the surviving families.
Came home Sunday from work at wife told me she just finished cleaning up a flood in the garage! OK, so how bad is it, "All Over". Oh by the way, she continues, the Air Conditioner was left on all day Saturday with thermostat set at 66, and nobody was home. From that I try to figure out what is wrong, based upon the location that was wet. Hmmm, maybe condensation issue from the A/C, or did something go wrong with the plumbing behind the wall? (Two bathrooms could be the source, one directly behind the wall where the A/C is and the other one just above in the 2nd story.)
After investigating and inspecting, determine it had to be the A/C. The unit was put in in '04 and has not been a problem. Tried to figure where the condensation goes, and no luck, even off the web I could find anything. Tried contacting the plumber who installed it, and they are out of business. Finally, was able to contact the manufacturer's Cust Serv, but didn't get much help, other than a refferral for service. Contacted the guy early Monday, he was going to work me in, seemed like a nice guy. Numerous calls during the day, will try to get out ASAP. (We are having really warm weather.) Finally about 7:30, we decided it was too late, did discuss over telephone, and gave me a lot of possibilities, and how to check it. Sure enough found the problem!
If any of you are operating A/C, check to see if you have a "trap" integrated in the condensation exit line! If so, make sure you check the trap that it hasn't developed a blockage! It will cause water to back up in the heat exchanger, and dump down the furnace, and can cause a real problem on any controller pcbs located in the unit. We were lucky no circuit boards were impacted, but the condensation removal line was blocked. (Typically PVC, ours just runs outside and drains in a flower bed.) So I opened it up and it was totally blocked, (accumulated mud, and even algae/fungus.) Also it doesn't take much to plug a 3/4 pvc pipe. So ended up replacing the whole thing, and installed a couple of unions "in-line" so I could open it up and clean the trap.
While he was here, he did a survey of the ducting and vents in the house, since the unit was installed in '03, and the house built in the 70's, felt that the ducting and return air vent was not large enough for the unit. No way am I going to change all that, we will just have to cope. And, afterall its only about 4 or 5 weeks we really use it, and then its not that bad. So got everything back in place and on-line.
Off again tomorrow, so over to Bob's and see what he has done, and hopefully get the balance of the framing done. Then Thursday back to Knott's and schedule to be on the "Goose" all day. Friday a special party event until 1:30am. with the Steam engine. Saturday/Sunday suppose to be real hot again, and of course the steam engine. Then next week 4 days on the Goose,
Hope everyone has a great day and stay healthy.
Don

Good morning. It's 65°, partly cloudy with a small chance of rain. High of 88°, wind SW at 5 to 10 mph.Not feeling good this morning but what else is new. Plan for today is to stay inside and catch up on my movie watching. Layoutwise there are no new projects to work on so I see no reason to mess with it. If I feel better later I might get some scenery materials out, at least what little I have and see what I can do. I have some trees on the layout that the foliage has rotted away, they need some attention. Humidity here is murder on scenery.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a cold 48 degrees. Sunny. Going up to 82 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have a few errands to run and the usual chores around the house. Not much else is going on. Lunch and a nap will work.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.

HI GUYZ,
Great day here at 44 when I went for my run on the side of the mountain. Cool felt great fingers felt it afterwards. MINNIE chased some squirrels. Gonna start the shingle job today. Then another walk run this afternoon.
KEV, if I lived closer I'd give you a hand. My chainsaw is still warmed up from Monday and a willing to cut.

Morning. Carolina blue morning. US flag is flying high and proud at the Box. No work inside as too busy.
Trying to trap citizen's kitty that escaped from the Town's semi-anual rabies and chipping clinic held in the Main Street Park across the street. The kitty escaped from the Vet's hands and made it across the busy street to my house and now roams around the neighborhood. Just found out yesterday evening. This is a very popular service the Town furnishes. Animals from Rolesville, other Towns and other Counties are brought for this service. 350 animals vacinated and 50 chipped.
No Box work as busy with other chores.
LAZ, imposible to speak Ohizioan. A foreign language.

BTW: this software sucks. 5 tries to get that link to paste. Suddenly while typing about the rabies clinic, type went to bold. Could not change so had to delete and start over.

Konbanwa,
I had a nice four-mile run this morning and I also had a leg workout in the weight room. Work was busy again and will be for the next few days as well. I need to finish some schoolwork and get some sleep now.
Happy Birthday Banks!
Jeffrey – I hope your mom is doing better.
Kev – The transfer station looks great.

Aloha. Beauty of a day again here. Oktoberfest opens a block away . Right next to the striking teachers.Don, glad you found the problem. I'm always puzzling out the error codes on our furnace / ac. Hope you have a grand birthday Banks! Awesome videos, Kev. That's quite a trail-blocker. Interesting morning already having to pull budget numbers and projections to see what can be cut. Nice quiet evening last night, spent time doing Ivor the Engine research. Coming to the conclusion we'll have to put our dauschund Rudy down. He's turned pretty 'senile' lately and is having trouble walking. Vet says its just his age.

We have a sunny 61 this morning, going into the low 80s today. I am waiting for the grass to dry some before I give it a haircut. Brutus and Charlie were on chat last night. It's a beautiful morning...S.J.
Good Mornin' Y'all From Crystal Clear And Cool Taxachusetts,
Temperatures went down to 48 last night, the second night in a row we dipped below 50. The wife came to bed after I did last night and left the window open, wide open......and the thermostat for that zone is in the hall about 15 feet away. You guessed it, the furnace this morning was valiantly trying to heat all of the outdoors. And the temps forcast to hit 80 today. One tries to reduce energy costs, but there is a conspiracy in my household to thwart these attempts.
Regarding these border crossing stories, my wife and I were on our way into Canada last month. We were first "serviced" by one of the booth guys. Then we were told to pull over into a canopied side parking area and go inside for some more chit chat. That agent then accompanied us outside to search of our vehicle. In an effort to be helpful so the guy could check out Maximus' dog crate, I offered to take him out but the guy said it would not be necessary. "That's a Doberman, isn't it. Is he friendly?" You just answer the questions and remain polite and accomodating. Or the next thing you know the guys with the tools come out and start disassembling your car.
8N..........it seems like families only have reunions at weddings and funerals. Prayers for your wife's Great Aunt. I will also offer up for your Mom, hope she is getting better.
Jeffrey.......hope the Docs today put a lid on your Mom's infection.
KEV......your photos of you standing in front of the downed tree across your trail somehow reminded me instantly of the movie Robin Hood, except he rode a horse around instead of riding in an ATV. I really like the transfer station but noticed that there are no beer barrels being "transferred."
LAZ......was thinking of your Minnie last night and her romps in the woods chasing the deer and squirrels. Maximus tested high for prey drive when he was evaluated at a Doberman Pinscher Club of America test two years ago. Last night I took him out for last call, and sitting there in the grass not 10 feet away was one one of his arch enemies and nemeses, the rabbit. I commanded a sit and he sat. Then told him to stay while I chased the rabbit away. I could not believe my pup didn't just blow me off and take chase. That was a first for him.
SJ........I believe you said Granny was off visiting the grandchildren which left you a bachelor for a few days. Do you goof off the same or more when she isn't there policing things?
Chief......is the flag flying yet?
Don.......that blocked drain pipe for the A/C could have been a disaster if it wasn't discovered when it was. I check out my father-in-laws A/C and sump pumps' drainage hoses every time we visit. And the mud backs up into his too. I went out and bought some of those cement gutter end pipe diffusers and raised them up about 6 inches so the hoses would be sitting above the mud. Then did some minor regrading. It's better but not perfect.
Gotta run and get some things squared away. Later, gang.
Jack
EDIT: DougM......I am so sorry to hear about Rudy your Dachshund's condition. These end of life decisions we have to make for our pets are so difficult and heartbreaking. They are with us for such a short time.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.

Good morning all,
It is nice in SE Indiana. Spent most of the evening working on a program for Friday night's U-14 game under the ligthts. Hope the weather holds up. "My" soccer girls got pounded 12-0 by a conference team that is in the higher student population division. Get to play the number 2 ranked in their class Thursday. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Hello from outside of Trenton, NJ....
Yesterday just like today...cool crisp and cloudless....I was told it was just like that 11 years ago. Eerie.
Interview and test went well. First commute during rush hour. It was good until I hit the intersection of I276 and I476 - 7 miles from work....but still made it 15 minutes ahead of time. I'll know later today.
Had an incident on the NJTP at 2300 last night and we past by...no issues. Then a Major fire incident on NJTP yesterday morning at 0030, I awoke but did not respond....AS it was I only got 4 hours sleep. 1 fatality and 2 tractor-trailers lost due to fire/accident. Our guys finally left at 0600, which would have created problems on the interview front. And yes, I did rent a car..good thing too, as on the way home, the charge light popped on . Time for new wheels, I think.
Banks!! and thanks!
DougM - sorry about Rudy the Wonder dog!
Back to work, will check back later.

Well the south property line trail is open again. I will leave the bulk of the tree for another cooler day and maybe some help from one of the younger guys. It is 82 degrees and that is about twenty degrees too hot to be running the old Jonsereds chainsaw. I bought that saw new in 1978, back when we used wood to heat our first house in Plainfield. She has done a lot of work and is still a fine saw. It cost a bunch of money when I got it but it was money well spent. It still will out cut many of the best new saws. I have cut well over 250 trees since we got this place of all sizes. Over 160 just to set the house.
I am sure not in the shape I used to be in and sure do feel my age coming up on me when I do work like this. Also I know where that beer I had last night went too. I am a head sweater and I think at least one beer came out of ny forhead this morning.
Rich, Best of luck on that job.
Another good job for the Gator today as well.
Good Afternoon everyone!
Not enjoying this roller coaster act the Yanks are giving me. And last night they lose in the ninth inning to the Sox!
Home today as I try and shake this cold I have.
Yesterday as I was going into work, which I probably shouldn't have, the only reason I did was because we have a 6 month project to do and we need to get it done in 4 months. Well I went in at 8:30. I always go in about 7:00 to do extra work which I've been doing for over a year now. So when I pull in at 8:30 and see my boss right ahead of me I was !@#*^@! mad. I'm coming in when I'm not feeling good and here he comes in late. BTW, he had no reason for his lateness. Were's the urgency for the project? As it is he usually comes in at 8:00. Some leadership. So today I took my first sick hours this year. As second in command in our office I get more respect from our staff than he does and he doesn't even know it.
Concerning Sept 11th, my office had the only radio and everyone was listening to it. Very little work got done that day.
Banks - Happy Birthday!
HudsonJohn - I will see you tonight and help you clean around the house a bit.

V8Vega I changed the oil on one of my cars yesterday and it took all afternoon and it always does. But thats with a lot of newspaper reading breaks and is from start to completely finished with everything put away. It would probably take a couple of hours without the newspaper reading, how long do's it take you guys.

Most of the time about 1/2 hour for me but my shed is set up pretty good for working on cars and trucks.
Dateline - Fifedom: in a surprising turn of events in the Mid-Atlantic region, the fifepup passed his driver's test today. Economists suggest dropping Allstate stock. In a related matter, he turned 18 today.
That is all.
Well we finally made up our minds yesterday and we did take a drive to the beach at Dana Point which is on the way to Sandy Eggo. It was nice and cool but sun did not come out all day and we were getting a drizzle from marine layer down there. Had a nice fish and chips lunch but got sticker shock on the price. The place we used to go to has just about doubled their prices since our last visit. However, it has been 5 years. Took in all the sights at the marinia and ocean then headed home. Adult son drove on the return trip which made it easier on me.
D. Baker, good job on the A/C. We had a problem with one of ours once. It was the heat pump in the family room which got clogged and was dripping water inside the house. Have not had any problems with the main A/C for the rest of the house. It drains outside the house in a rock garden
Chief, don't worry about my SS check. We get direct deposit..
V8, used to change my own oil but have it done now. Getting too old to crawl around underneath the car. My son still does his though. I tend to put it off too long now since I don't do it myself.
On the sick list: Friend of ours wife is still in nursing facility after several days for pains in hip. Will be there until at least Friday. We will try to see her today.
Another friend's grandson, a high school student, is in a battle for his life. He has been in City of Hope cancer hospital for several months following bone marrow transplant. He was doing real good for a while but now his kidneys are failing and if they don't start working soon, they could lose him. His family has requested prayers for a miracle for Chris.
Jeffrey, hope your mom gets better soon.

Prayers are sent for Chris and your wife's friend.
Fifedog, Congrats and happy birthday to Fifepup. Is 18 the minimum age for getting a licence where you live? The fun starts now!
