Hi GUYZ,

Got run in with dog.  She took off and chased 7 deer this morning, yepping up and down the mountain.  Good part is she only chases for about 3 minutes and comes back to see where I am.  Thats a GOOD THING.  Gotta start clearing out all overhanging branches above shed this morning.  Then chainsawing all usable lumber.  then take smaller stuff to compost center.

GUYZ, thats for da CONGAs on the run.  Felt good.

CHIEF, nice catch!!!  I go for salmon up to PULASKI NY on the 25th of this month.

CHUCK, hummingbirds are deffinitly my favorite birds.  Love the areials.

DON, keep the glass of water full down on the farm.

Stay frosty,

Good morning. It's 58° and partly cloudy. The high will be 88°.

Still not feeling up to par this morning. Woke up feeling light headed. Not dizzy though. I was able to put brass wheels on an AHM center flow hopper so that's something. I have a car in my train here that needs metal wheels. It's a Tyco Kellogg's center flow hopper. It has body mounted couplers already but still has the original Tyco trucks minus the coupler pockets. I'll need to look through my stuff here and see if I can find a set of metal wheels that'll fit.

I may be able to get out later and work on the tractor. I still have to replace that busted idler pulley on it and the starter relay needs to be replaced. I have the parts so that's not a problem.

Morning.  Great day.  Carolina blue skies and fall temps.

Will do a sad Mayor thingy as one of my friends and developer is in hospital in critical condition with cancer.  Will go after lunch to the hospital for a visit [my only see family] and let them know the whole Town is praying for them.

Going to mow here.  Grass is groooowing.  Also, start the base for the US flag pole to be installed outside the Box.

Have a great week all.

It last about 2 -3 minutes and then subsided to a medium type head ache took some ibuprofen and went to bed. Sun woke no pain got up moving around head ache came back to the medium range to ibuprofen again went to work it kept up at work 11 took 2 aspirin 3:30P went to ER about 6:10P was taking into exam room about 7:15 was finally seen by a doctor. ( one I do not like has an attitude) sent me for cat scan of my head came back about 10 minutes later he goes shows nothing I order some medicine for you bye

I still in bewilder state about his treatment he was just plain rude if you ask me.

Aloha. RT, I hope you check in with your regular physician today!

Another gorgeous day here, though it now starts for me in pitch darkness. Kind of nice waiting for the train to come at the station under a canopy of stars.  Youngest was ill yesterday so I missed celebrating my inlaws 50th anny. I also seemed to miss the TARDIS - some things wrong with Messenger on my computer I think I need to reinstall it. Ran trains for the first time in a while... Enjoyed listening to football all day.

Welcome back, Grayson.
Dougda, what's a hardscape? Is that just rocks and things that don't need care. Boy,I'd like that on my lawn.
Chief, my youngest saw your catch and now wants to go fishing. Of course, my license has expired....
Bob, glad you are enjoying the RDC and Beep. We need pictures!
Joe, that was a tough loss for PSU. There was an interesting article about college kickers, their 'mentality' and sometimes very tough experiences' in the latest Sports Illustrated if you can find it on base. Happy ND eked out a loss, even if it was against Purdue, which is a school I admire if only because Buckeye went there. Smile
John, good wishes that your son's quick recovery about the wall collapsed.
Laz, that race with Minnie sounds like it was quite a workout. But she certainly did well with the other dogs. Did you use a special lead?
Don, that is such a great photo! I loved Emergency (and Adam 12) when I was younger.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Crystal Clear Mid 50s Taxachusetts,

Yesterday's fundraiser for Doberman Rescue Unlimited was a big success.  The weather was beautiful and the outdoor event was well attended.  It is sad to see just what becomes of too many of our canine friends.  At any point in time this (no kill) organization cares for over 50 Dobermans in their direct care with even more in foster care, all waiting for another home.  Some folks don't think (ahead), run out and get dogs that don't fit their experience and lifestyle, and then when things are not working out, discard them like yesterday's newspaper......oftentimes just driving out somewhere and opening the car door.  Yes, many of these dogs were found as strays.  Other folks don't realize how expensive owning a dog can be, especially when the pups get sick or older.  Other folks find themselves on hard times, health and/or financial, and can no longer keep their dogs.  The end result for the dogs is the same.  Homeless, or worse.  When I was a very young kid and we went to the dog pound to get our first dog, my sisters and I asked my Dad how there could be so many orphaned dogs.  He simply responded:  " You can tell a lot about a society with how they treat their animals."  Annually, roughly 70% of shelter animals in our country are euthanized, and I believe the number annually is well over 1.5 million.

SoapBox

I suppose bad medical news goes with the territory, especially when you have aging immediate and extended family members.  My son-in-law's Aunt got up from a chair, got dizzy, fell, and cracked two ribs.  When one is in their 80s, these types of things can be quite serious and stay with them for a long time.  The Docs did their thing and she is back at home resting not so comfortably now.  Please say a prayer for her comfort and recovery.

rtraincollector

.......was finally seen by a doctor. ( one I do not like has an attitude) sent me for cat scan of my head came back about 10 minutes later he goes shows nothing..........

RT........that can't be good.  There is supposed to be SOMETHING up there. Smile, Wink & Grin  Seriously, it was fortunate you had that checked out.  How many times do we hear of or personally know someone where IT IS something serious but the person tries to wait it out to see if it will pass?  And worse things result.

Jeffrey........hope you are feeling better today.  Why put time and effort in that riding mower when the tranny is cooked?  Or was that the other one?

Chief.....  was that picture of the fish real or a photoshop job? Whistling  Sorry to hear about your friend.  He and his family have my prayers.Angel

HudsonJohn.......thank you for the link to your son's story.  Ouch!  You must be relieved.  Prayers continue for his recovery and for his safety down the road. Angel

Don.......that smle on your nephew's face looks a lot like Smile, Wink & Grin

LAZ.........I'll bet Minnie slept well last night.  WOW!  Three miles!!  Congratulations on a stellar time and for both placements, yours and yours with Minnie.  In our dog training, we work on heeling with distraction (other dogs, people) at various speeds including fast pace.  That would come in handy for you and Minnie. Didn't you get her as a puppy about this time last year?  She has quite the life! Thumbs UpThumbs Up

Gotta run and take care of a few things.  Later, gang.

Lunchtime:

Thanks for the thoughts and comments about my son. He is fine and still answering calls. The 2 of us do a lot together and he also does a lot on his own with his friends.

Brutus, Great idea on the use of the expandable gates. Watch the knees.

Blownout: You deserve the train time.

Chuck: We have osprey nests nearby. I like watching them and the other birds and wildlife around us.

Laz: I wish that our Mack would listen consistently as Minnie.

Jeffrey: Good luck with the tractor.

Chief: Nice Catch. Prayers to your friend and his family.

RT: Prayers, Get well

Doug: Hope your youngest is better. Congrats to your inlaws on their 50th.

Jack: Glad the Fundraiser was a success. Our Mack was a rescue pup. That Blacklab Retriever is one smart stinker. Prayers for your Son in Law's Aunt.

Dennis: Good Luck with your eyes.

Have a Great Day!

The long train on my layout. It's grown by a couple of cars and here is being pulled by the trio of Frankenstein F units led by a Santa Fe F7 and boosted by two F3's.

Chief, nice catch on the rockfish.  Hope they taste as good as they look.  We never caught any in salt water but the big ones were there if you had a good boat.  Seems like they used to run in the Winter.  I finally hooked a 15 pounder trolling near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel with my brother a few years back.  Of course they get much bigger but I never caught one of those.

RT, sorry about your headaches.  Maybe they just ruled out everything that could kill you without really finding the cause.

V8 Dennis, I have some 11 degree Ross too and a couple of the number 8's which are the slow diverging ones.  They look real but take up more room.

later,

Ray

John,

Glad that your son is ok.

Kev,

        Package is on the way.

Not much going on today.  Got an early 2025 on ebay last night.  I wasn't planning on buying one, but the deal was too good to turn down.Smile, Wink & Grin  Haven't seen a deal that good since I got an excellent early 2026 with a 6466W for $45 a few years ago.  Shipped some sold items out, and will probably list more at some point to thin out the previous impulse buys.

Beautiful day in North Central IL. Making Chili for diner tonight. Dinner

Wife was just behind a wreck today on her way to work that killed one and injured two. A guy passed a car and ran a box truck off the road and it hit another car, the one getting passed, head on. Sounds like the guy that caused it all is not the one that got killed. Sad

I tried to watch the news for any information on it but there is nothing on but yak yak about the Chicago school strike.

John, Glad to hear you son is fine. One heck of a way to get a lesson. Surprise

RT, mend up soon. Angel

Brutus, give your knees a break. Black Eye

Nice Fish Chief, sorry about your friend.

Chuck and Laz. The humming birds are going crazy here. A lot of them are moving to the south so there are mor than normal around right now.  GO Bears!!

Thanks Jim Probe. Wink

Good afternoon,

First time on in September.  We went to O.C., MD over the labor day weekend and I brought a cold along home.  This is the first day I've felt like doing much.  We had a lot of wind and some rain on Saturday evening so I spent a few hours cleaning up downed limbs and leaves.  Nothing serious, biggest was about 2" diameter others much less.

Took note of Don's pictures of the Fire Station.  Really enjoyed that visit.  Don & Kay Baker were great hosts while we were out there visiting and also appreciated the hospitality of Ray (SPMan).

John, Sounds like your son had a close call, glad to hear he is OK.

All take care,

Afternoon Fellas

Grayson - good to 'see' you again!

Fife - Fifepup is driving? He should do well, he has a good teacher. LOL @ Fifegrandpup

Well this weekend was rather poor from a sports vantage point. Enough said about that. I took the day off on Friday to go to Charlottesville with my parents and older sister. We had a good time, got to finally see Montecello (we arrived a bit late for our tour so I missed the announcement about 'no photography allowed inside')  and it was everything I imagined and more. TJ was definitely a man with a vision.

I have learned that it is very difficult for me to be away from Christina for any length of time. Missed her dearly. When I got home on Saturday she really let me have it. Wouldn't look at me and didn't want me to hold her. Sad BUT she did give me a kiss on Sunday! I did get her a cute Thanksgiving Day dress while on my trip. She looks so cute in it!

Brent.........don't fall for this "cold shoulder" you are getting from Christina.  The little ones are far more adept at training us than we are at training them.

Saturday night my youngest granddaughter (3) was repeatedly tuning out her parents who were asking her over and over again to leave her older sister alone.  It was going in one ear and out the other until Grampy merely bellowed her name.

She ran behind the sofa and proceeded to cry like it was the end of the world.  Then she wouldn't come near me or look at me.  My daughter remarked "Well, you are certainly on her poop list!"  And I said "Oh yeah?  Watch this."

I walked out into the kitchen and announced in a loud voice "All of Grampy's grandchildren who want ice cream, come and get it!"  Amazing how she heard that.  She was the first one through the kitchen doorway and somehow seemed to have forgotten the supposed punishment she was dealing out to me.

The little ones are the most clever manipulators, especially when they think they can guilt you.  Don't fall for it!!!!  Ignore them and they quckly come to realize "Well, this isn't working."  Then they turn on the charm and wait until you melt. Smile, Wink & Grin  Which of course we do.

Grayson,

              Good to see you back.

Anyone who doesn't want to read a rant, skip my post...

Some remember the experience I had with an SCT flash programmer that bricked my Mustang's PCM, and the dealer where I purchased the programmer and company that made the tuner left me hanging.Angry  I had to get the PCM reflashed by Ford that was $100 out of my pocket.  So, that was $380 for the programmer and $100 for the reflash.

Thinking I just got a bad programmer, I decided to try again.  I got a Diablosport programmer from the same dealer for $600.  All was well until this afternoon.  I purchased a Ford Racing Performance Parts cold air intake ($310) also from the same dealer as the programmer.  Since it flows more air, the PCM must be flashed with a custom tune.  No problem, right?

Copied the stock tune as usual and flashed the PCM with a custom tune.  All seemed to go well throughout the process.

Push the clutch to the floor and turn the key...then nothing other than a click from a relay.Angry  Also noticed that the odometer and trip odometer just displayed dashes.  Bricked PCM...again.  I called the dealer/tuner, and was told yet again that they couldn't help.  Way to stand behind your product for the second time.SoapBox It doesn't matter that I've placed 20 orders since June of 2011 totalling more than $3K.

I was referred to Diablosport that was more than willing to help and got everything back to normal.Thumbs Up  My dealer should take a lesson in accountability/responsibility from them.

This whole situation has cost around $1,390 for me, and I am seriously going to reconsider who gets any of my business from this point.

End of rant.

It's 70 now. Went to 80 today. We spent the day with my cousin and his wife, sightseeing and antiquing for the ladies. I am tired but it's a pleasant tired. We had lunch on the banks of Lake Ste, Claire and home made apple pie with banilla when we got back here tonight. There's not enough pie for the thingy guys but I got plenty of banilla...S.J.

Good Evening, guys.....

Round 2 tomorrow in Radnor.  I have a test and have to interview with 3 more people.  Everything should go well, I would think.  I'll be leaving at 0615 to arrive at 0800...I hope.

I'm not very pleased about it, being the day it is, but we, the living, must soldier on as best as possible.  I, nor any of us, should ever forget the murders of our first responders and fellow countrymen that occurred 11 years ago tomorrow.

Yes John, I caught the dig.....I got the tools and the knowledge, just need my own places to DO it...Smile, Wink & Grin

Good to see Dennis and the family back in the US of A, congratulations

RT - Hope you are better soon!

Hey, Grayson....Thumbs Up

Brent - I feel ya, brother!!

Angel for our intentions and all in need.

Off to rest up and get my suit and tie ready for the morning...See you guys soon!!

Jack

Jack - I know she is playing, and sometimes I give in, others I don't - just depends if I want to play along or not. Yesterday PopPop gave her a wagon (we aren't sure if it was TheQ's or Christina's cousin's that she never used), well Christina LOVES the wagon! (and yes it is a Radio Flyer) Tonight I was grilling some steaks and she came into the screened porch and saw the wagon. I gave her a few trips around the table, then mommy came out and gave her a couple more turns. Then I took Chrisina out of the wagan and she started to cry... "Christina if you want to have more wagon rides you better stop this tantrum" - she stopped immediately. I turned the steaks and basted them again, then took the wagon outside. She got a trip around the house, then it was time to turn the steaks... another mild tantrum, short talk, turn the steaks, basted, another trip around the house. Oh - and she has already learned that if she doesn't hold on we stop till she does. Smile

Oh and Christina already knows what ice cream is, where we keep it in the house, and when we stop for ice cream while out, she knows where we are. You should see her reaction when they give her a dish!!!!!
