Doug..........I am brave (or suicidal). I taught my wife to drive a manual transmission. After that, I was conscripted by said wife to teach both of our kids to drive.

KRMI just got back from Wallgreens about 9 miles away where I got my Flu shot. So I went to KFC and got lunch. When I was coming down the lane on the way home I hear the brake squeakers on my front brakes squeaking meaning the pads are getting low. Walgreens is right next to AutoZone. Guess I will pull the wheel off and take a look. Only 23,000 miles on these pads?

Well my brakes have been squeeling for over 3 months, and I check them every Saturday... still enough pad to stop the car and the computer is telling me 20,000 more miles. Guess we'll see if the car is right or I'll end up in someone's backseat! - But with me being extremely AR I'll probably notice they are too low for my liking and just replace them! LOL!!!
Brent that is cool but maybe just another sensor to go bad someday. Then it might be kind of like RIJack's $750.00 tail lights. I mean tail light.
I pulled the wheels off and took a good old fashion look see and would you know it there is a ton of pad left but there was a small gravel chip stuck in there.

Good afternoon all,
Kev, Banks et al, thank you for the prayers for Chris. To clairfy, he is the grandson of one of our close friends. We saw his grandmother at a dinner last night and were surprised that she could come but it was theraputic for her to be with friends I guess.

Had a bit of a concern this morning. It was time to change the dressing on for lack of a better name my foot when I noticed it was bleeding more than usual. In fact it was bleeding like a stuck pig. Those of a squeamish disposition will want to stop reading now. All others continue at your own risk! Your sanity may be in question or you may discover a masochistic tendency you didn't know you had. You've been warned. A quick examination revealed a bit of bone sticking out of the wound. I cleaned a pair of needle nose pliers in alcohol and went in after it. A bit turned into a piece of shattered curved bone an inch long and almost half an inch wide. Got it out of there and cleaned up the site then bandaged it up. It stopped bleeding fairly quickly so there doesn't seem to be anything else cutting up in there. If it starts up again I'll get it checked out. Looks like I'll have to limit my activity for a while. Those of a squeamish disposition may continue reading at this point. Went down to my parents place to have lunch with my father. I had to turn down a trip to the nursing home due to the aforementioned problem. I'm definitely not up to any long walks and anything over fifty feet for me is long. I'll be down there again this evening for dinner. I had just a little bit of train related work to do. A tank car turned up with a locked wheelset. Somehow a bit of ballast got wedged between a tread and the cast in brake shoe on the truck. It was quickly popped out with a small screwdriver.

KEV.........please don't exagerate. It was only $746 to replace the "high mount brake light bar." But in this instance, so far I paid nothing.
At first I was told (correctly) the warranty extension did not cover sealed lamps, beams, and units. After I complained, the dealer offered to cover the cost of the part ($550) if I were willing to cover the labor to install ($196).
When I got the car back, AFTER A WEEK IN THEIR SHOP, the dealer service advisor would not take my money!!!! Said he was going to check with the service manager to see if they would "absorb" the labor cost and that he would get back to me. That was two weeks ago and I have heard nothing since.
Should I call them and insist on paying for the labor?
Hi GUYZ,
Got an early start this morning. Did walk and run with MINNIE DOG. Went and bought 2 square of shingles for other side of roof. Got them on capped it and finished shed roof. Went for another run with dog. Went to GOLF course but it was closed due to plugging the greens. Came home took dog for walk now going for WINGs and YUENGs.
KEV, nice haul on the wood.
CHIEF, WRECK TANGLE looks good.
JACK, MAXIMUS, did great MINNIE would have been in full point. Frozen solid trying to sneak up on it.

Sure, Brent. You tell us that, but I find that hard to believe for someone who lives in Ravens territory.
Doug,
Sorry to hear about Rudy. I've had to go through it once, and I'll have to go through it again someday. But, the best thing to ease it was to get another dog after some time had passed.
Bob,
I get exactly where you're coming from. I just grab my keys and go when that happens.
Got the 2025 in from one seller, and the 6466W from another. The good news is that the 6466W is exactly as described, and it works great. The bad news is that I got taken on the 2025. The left side was not pictured, and it turns out that the eccentric linkage for that side is MIA. The right side is complete, but the locating pins on the eccentric crank have been sheared off. It runs, but it needs some little things. I've got a 675 in a junk box, but it doesn't have everything this one needs.
I am not sure what to do. I don't want a full refund, I just would like what it would take to make this one whole.

Time for me to call it a night. Had dinner with my father tonight. We got quite a bit of rain, don't know how much yet. Wind is SW at 4 mph gusting to 21. I have to be at my parents place in the morning to meet the repairman for the a/c unit. Condenser coil needs to be replaced. See y'all tomorrow.
John - prayers for your Mom.
Fife - Happy Belated Birthday to the Pup! That's a big milestone!
Doug - prayers out for you and your family. Tough duty.
Heard someone at the embassy had tweeted something like Sorry but we won't back down? This is a real tragedy for those men and their families, trying to serve our nation. I pray for all involved.
We had a big party at work - baby shower for one of the ladies there. One guy has a Big Green Egg smoker and he brought in a pork shoulder and ribs to die for. I ate so much - I might never eat again!
Nice chat with the guys tonight. TARDIS is ready and we have some banilla, so let's go!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
The weather broke here today. Cloudy, wind from the north, and temperatures in the 60's.
John - prayers for your mom's surgery.
Bob - hang in there.
I tried some heavy duty oven cleaner on a spot on the B&O blue shell. It worked slightly better than the Simple Green, but a little quicker. Softened the paint enough to scrape off with a plastic scraper in about 90 minutes. Simple green takes about a day and a half to get to that point. The oven cleaner is kind of nasty to work with, though.
Had to go to the store this evening to get some stuff. As I was leaving, my wife told me to bring home some choclate. So I picked up a bag of mineature Kit-Kat bars, which she does not like, some halloween edition Oreos, which she dosen't like, and some choclate covered peanuts, which she does like.
When I got home, I gave her the Kit-Kats, listened to her grumble, then I gave her the Oreos and about got cussed at. I finally soothed things over with the choclate covered peanuts.
All for now.
Hello all
Back at home in the Ol' Pueblo. Rainy and windy here this afternoon, but some beautiful cloud formations.
Thanks for all the kind thoughts. While yesterday's issues were the result of work related problems, this is more about where I'm at right now. This decision process is a matter of timing and what will be the best. Trying to turn it over to higher power and let go of the outcome.
On a funner(er) note, I got the automatic mail accessory today. All original in the box (even missing a bit of the control arm from the factory sealed bag). The 80's and 90's Lionel plastic wasn't what it used to be. But I think I can make it work or find a replacement arm. Looks like a fun accessory. Perfect for the "Ghost Train" w/ the 2025. Neat to see all the old paperwork too, including Lionel service stations that don't exist anymore.
Time to find a pillow. 6AM comes early.

Good morning all,
Cloudy in SE Indiana. Hope rain clears out before our big youth league game tonight. Lost 2-1 last night. "My" soccer girls got pounded 4-0 last night. Any chance of a good finish for AJ's team went away with Conway stepping out of the car for the race. My slim hopes for a good finish at the race ride with Sarah's team and no way will that happen. Busy weekend. Reffing tonight and tomorrow morning, going to watch the boys play then a MLS game on NBC, then the Indycar race on the internet Saturday and a trip to Bloomington on Sunday. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

Bob, Where can we post a complaint about the / your complainer??? Where are we anyhow ? Next we won't be able to say anything about 9-11 or the teacher's strike or for that matter who knows what. I know rules are rules but I think they are being molded to someones liking as we go along. JMHO
On the toy train front. I worked on cleaning up the control panel wiring yesterday where I added 4 more control switches.
Guess I will go to Krogers if i can post that.
Have a good one guys.
Hope I don't get cut.
Feel free to talk about grits, 57 Chevy's, coffee, iced tea (during the summer), and hunting dogs. Anything else, you might want to shoot me a note first. Oh, trains are okay, too!
Good morning. It's 70° and mostly cloudy with a fair chance of rain. The high will be 88°.I'm at my parents house this morning waiting on the a/c repair guy to show up. He's supposed to replace a condenser coil on the system in the east wing. I'm on the far side of the house in the west wing where the a/c is working beautifully. He's supposed to know what door to come to. Looks like the weather is going to be wet and rainy today so no outdoor projects for me. Later I may get some work in on the layout. Depends on how I feel then. If it's how I feel now I may just go back to bed. The dizziness has returned and my ears are ringing. Hopefully it clears up. No more trouble with the Athearn tank car yesterday. The GP9F's got a good run.

Rest in peace, little guy. The pain and suffering that your family is now feeling is the price they had to pay to free you from your own.
My condolences, Doug, to you and your family.
Doug... I really am sorry for the lose of your dog. We lost "Nosy" over a year ago and still look for him outside. He just disappeared one night. I think a coyote got him.
I am also sorry for your loss. I hope the kids are taking it okay. When we lost Lacy Katie was 20 years old and she cried like a baby when I told her I had to put her down. We still can't bring ourselves to get another dog.
It would be very hard to loose one like you did Chuck, never knowing.
