Good morning all!

Heading into work a bit late today, something about rainy mornings that make you want to sleep in. All that means is I'll have to stay an extra hour or so to get all my work done or bring it home.

Kev - Maybe this might help, hope so. If you click on "Community Settings" you will notice three tabs. The default tab is "Basic Options" . That's where you can edit the signature area of your posts.

Off to work so......later all!

I had that problem initially. If the save 'Save' button is light blue it won't work. Turned out there were too many characters in my signature. I dropped a line out of the signature and the 'Save' button turned dark blue and worked. Look through your profile settings and see if there's an error flagged. On mine it was flagged in red.

Good Idea Jeffery. There is a red message about the number characters in the signature but I don't have near that many. It must be that the spinning Tardis takes up a lot of space.  Bang Head
I will give it a try. Does your main forum page have a place to post a new message?

Anyway I will mess with it later.
We have to go to Krogers and get food and fill up the wife's car with the discount gas. Best gas here is $3.72 but you can get .10 off by going to Krogers.
Sunny and nice, 65 degrees. The little rain we got has helped a lot but i see no improvement in the trees that took it so hard but the weeds are doing just fine.
I got a Lionel  6-18406 Operating Track Maintenance Car last night on the bay to run on the spur I made for the # 50 gang car.  It is the new / (1991) replacement for the Lionel # 69 car. It is NIB and I gave $45.99. I hope I did okay on it. Haven't told the wife yet. Pirate
I have to back off on buying trains but I figured I could spend some of the boat sale profit on them. I would like to find a little gas sipper that I could drive around so I can let the truck sit till I need it.
Prayers for Jim's mom and Charlie's dad and anyone I missed. Angel
You all have a good day.

Saturday morning serial, chapters one thru 15, fly paper, penny loafers, Lucky Strike green etc.  Just thinking about that song from the Statler Bros. "Do You Remember These" while starting my Saturday post.  I think I am dating myself because I remember everything in that song.

I am still able to get on the forum one way or the other but seems a little different each time.  Wish they had followed the admonition, "If it works, don't fix it".

A little cooler today but humid from desert thunderboomers.  Might try to get in garage/trainroom before it gets too hot.

Good news!  Finally got my partial denture back yesterday.  More work scheduled for Monday with the permanent crown.  Wifey scheduled for colonoscopy next Tuesday.  Don't envy her for that.  Just had one myself a few months ago.

Is this what they call the "dog days of summer"?  Seems pretty doggy to me.

Got a take out Philly Cheese Steak sandwich last night but if this is what made Philly famous, they're in trouble.  Probably not like the original.

We need to try some easy home receipes.  We're tired of eating out.

later,

Ray

Read the help page [FAQ].  Found the problem.  There is suppose to be a "pull down" block to do decending or asending.  Missing from advanced settings. Thumbs Down  So you can not set what is not there.

Off to MIL's b'day party.  Ribs. Dinner  No carbs. Cool

Hi GUYZ,

I've been working on the railroad all the live long day,  I've been working on the railroad to pass the time away.......  Felt great getting back on the LOKIE again.  I was fireman all day long.  Arose at 0430 tis morning took MINNIE for a walk did run took shower ate then had an hour trip up to the PIONEER TUNNEL for PIONEER DAY, big event in ASHLAND, PA.  Arrived at 0650 and started to rip out old damper and blew down engine.  Lokie still had 45 lbs o pressure. Took out clinkers, boney coal that clumps together, and left hot embers in firebox.  Tossed in oak boards and let catch fire then stoked it with about 8 shovel full of anthracite coal, Hard coal that is.  Lokies started to gain lots o pressure fast and we had to get him out of the barn early before he poped off.  Wash it up greased and oiled it, got new oil for lubricator, and shook down the new grates to get all old ash out of bottom of the fire box.  Cleaned up all the ash hooked up cars and away we went.  Had over 600 people take the train ride.  Had to double up from about the third trip on.  Didn't have time to eat just tend the fire all day long, injecting water, greasing, oiling, add new water in the saddle tank, and shoveling coal on the fire.  The HENRY CLAY, never once got below 90 lbs. of pressure and was popping off at 110 all day long.  What a great working LOKIE as compared to last year when getting 90 lbs. was like pulling teeth.  The new tubes and new grates are perfect.  no more warp in the grates that had the fire about 3 inches lower from the crown plate, where the water boils.  The new grates has that fire nice under the cown plate and makes steam easy.  Was busy till 1700 hours then had to put the LOKIE to bed.  Nice day just wish the TUNNEL wasn't that far away.  I think the hour ride up and back is what made me tired today?  The physical work isn't that hard but fun.  Had fun.

Gonna try and get down to ROCKVILLE bridge tommorrow and see the NPR 765 as it passes over the bridge at 3PM on Sunday.

Stay frosty,

laz57

Laz, congas on your trip on the lokie.  Sounds like you did a good job of firing.  I guess D.Baker is still firing the engine at Knotts Berry Farm too.  He might have it a little easier cause it's an oil burner but it's still hot work I imagine.

Just laid low in the house most of the day account of the heat.  Went to store and picked up a roasted chicken for tonight.  We will add mashed potatoes and vegies.  Took a dip in the pool after shower this afternoon.  Felt good.  Noticed a spot near the new block wall fence where the ground is just covered with decorative rock, that an animal has been digging through the gravel trying to find dirt I guess and grubs.  They must be pretty desparate after we tore up their play house when we removed the trees and shrubs back there.   Probably a skunk or racoon.

Good night all,

Ray

Oh my what have they done this time. geez.

We just got home this evening. Took a trip along the Lake Michigan shore line. Including the Sleeping Bear sand dunes. Ending up at the Soo Locks. No freighters going through, one had run aground and was blocking the shipping channel. Included in this trip were 8 Casinos. Old James did alright but granny took a beating...All is well...S.J.

I forgot to mention we made this 6 day trip WITHOUT a GPS. Did it with and old fashion paper road map. Would believe that they still work.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Soccer report:  Boys are now 1-1 and the girls are 1-2.  Girls won today 4-0 with all the scoring in the first half.   Mowed the yard after the game and edged the sidewalks later.  Watched a replay of US women winning the Gold Medal in the Olympics on the net tonight.  Not much else going on.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning. It's 72° and the humidity is 100%. It'll be mostly cloudy with a high chance of showers and thunderstorms. The high will be 85° but will probably feel like 101°.

Looks like the weather today is gonna be a real pill. Well I take enough pills already. I hardly need another one. The weather warning is the standard one. Locally heavy rainfall...occasional lightning...and wind gusts up to thirty mph. Maybe I can use the time to clean up my work area. Not too clean though. A spotlessly clean work area could be interpreted as the sign of a sick mind. I may do some cosmetic work on some locos later.

I slept good last night. I think a few days rest and I'd be ready to go again. It must have rained here while we were gone as the grass is Tall and Green. But this is Sunday, I'll cut it tomorrow. . . . S.J.

Good morning all,

I am up Chuck but did sleep in some. Zzz

I got the traveling box back yesterday Bob and the smoke unit works great. I replaced the wicking with quartz wool and with the extra addition you added to it I needed a shoehorn to get it into the Plymouth switcher but I got it. Thanks again for all you have done. Bow

I also got the new motor for Thomas the Tank and the decals for the oil derrick so I have some things to work on if I want to. It looks like the K-Line boy flying an airplane will be here on Monday so I can add that to the layout to.

BOC it would be nice to see some pictures of your layout if you can.

Chief, your way past due on an update from you. i thought you were going to post some pictures of the bridge repair? Or did i miss it?

SJ, sounds like you should rest up after all of the gambling. Pirate

Like Chuck I will watch some NASCAR today but don’t have any real other plans.

Prayers for all in need. Angel

Have a great day

Morning.  Light rain and more to come.  Back from Sunday School.  Will do some Box stuff today.

Kev, photos later.  Did not finish the bridge work until late yesterday.  Mayor stuff has kept me busy.

Busy tomorrow.  Wifey's B'day and I have Mayor's stuff all day and into the night.  VP of Mayors' Assoc. and President is out of town.  I have to do the meeting or I would skip this one.  Take her out Tuesday night.

Tuesday will be a free day to do more Box work.

Nothing on calendar until Thursday AM and afternoon.  I'm sure I'll have to mow and mow.  Ready to sow turnip seeds.

I see SJ is back.  It will take him a week to rest up.  Old folks are like that. Whistling

Mornin' boys.  Back from touring the Horseshoe Curve area with my good buddy, Tom.  Lots of NS action, and some Amtrak as well.  Didn't just stay in Altoona, but went to Cresson, Cassandra, Summerhill, and Huntingdon.  Came back on Rte 22 into Enola, and lo and behold Nickel Plate 765 was in town for an employee special.  And mated up to it was NS/Nickel Plate 8100!  Lousy photo angles, but hey, saw the "white buffalo."  The train will be making two trips across the Rockville Bridge today, then will be headed west to Altoona tomorrow.

SJ,

         Good to see you back.

Fife,

         Any word from Brent?

Threw the rest of the unsold GL parts in the garbage.  I am really sick of dealing with one particular buyer that claims a part is damaged, but yet the damage is clearly visible in the numerous pictures.  Part was sold  "as is" paired with another part, but buyer wants to only send one back and get a full refund.Bang Head  Won't return my calls or PM.

Anyone have any advice?  Shoot me a PM if so.

Good morning all,

Had big breakfast of omlets, bacon and waffles.  Yum yum!

Chief, happy birthday to Mrs. Chief and belated one to your MIL.  They could celebrate together if they wished being so close together. CakeHappy B-Day.  I am waiting to see your bridgework too.

Watched the Sunday morning politcal shows today.  Tried to juggle between all three of them.  I think the one on CBS with Bob Sheiffer is the most neutral or fair.  They all seem to be focused on the same stuff though with each having a slightly different spin.

Getting ready for church.  Looks like we will go the 11:30 mass as usual.  Thought about going to 9:30 to beat the heat but we would miss our oldest son and his family if we did.  If the A/C is working it should be OK.

Prayers for all in need today,

Ray
